    Family Trip with Your Beloved Dog

    It was so comfortable that it made me wish I could live here. If you plan to have a barbecue, I recommend bringing a fine-mesh grill grate. Breakfast surrounded by greenery and birdsong was wonderful. I’d love to stay again.

    This was my first stay, but upon entering, I noticed the flooring was covered in footprints and not thoroughly cleaned, which was quite noticeable. There was also a lack of clear instructions from the staff, making it difficult to locate items or facilities. I had to call or visit the front desk each time for assistance. However, the amenities provided were gentle on the skin and had a pleasant fragrance, showcasing good taste.

    We had a comfortable stay with our pet!

    We stayed in the pet-friendly accommodation. There were absolutely no lingering pet odors or urine smells, and the space was incredibly clean and comfortable. The facility was fully equipped with everything we needed, and each item was of exceptionally high quality. The dedication of the accommodation owner and the care shown by the staff in maintaining the facility were evident, making it a truly pleasant place to stay. While the cost is reasonable for what is offered, we found it to be well worth it. For those looking for a comfortable stay with pets, this place comes highly recommended! Additionally, for future guests, we hope everyone will maintain good manners and keep this wonderful accommodation clean so that others can enjoy their stay as much as we did.

    Dog-friendly and comfortable

    We stayed for 2 nights and 3 days with our family of five and two dogs. The accommodation is less than a 10-minute drive from the station, but it is located at the end of a narrow unpaved road, which was surprising. There is a shrine nearby with a river flowing by, making it a great location for walks. The amenities were well-prepared not only for humans but also for dogs, including two cages, so we had no worries. The room had a hammock that all of us (adults) ended up competing to use! We opted for meals included in our stay. On the first day, we enjoyed tender chicken in cream sauce—it was delicious! On the second day, we requested BBQ ingredients and were delighted with an abundance of seafood such as shrimp, shell-on scallops, and salmon foil packets rather than just meat—very satisfying! However, one downside was that breakfast on both days was almost identical (Western-style), so on the second day we thought it might have been nice to cook rice using the provided rice cooker instead. This accommodation was excellent for staying with pets. Thank you very much!

    Morisou was comfortable.

    I stayed at "Murasaki Shikibu" with my dog for three nights. The reception staff were very polite and accommodating. The Room was clean and provided every comfort. It was truly perfect. However, on the final day, the checkout time was 11:00 AM (IKYU Diamond Benefit), so we packed our belongings and were chatting around 10:30 AM. Suddenly, I felt a gaze from the opposite Room. A male Hotel staff member was glaring at us with an intense expression as if to say, "You’re past checkout time; leave quickly." It seemed this benefit had not been communicated properly. Even when we nodded politely or when my child waved at him, he continued to glare with a stern look and deliberately checked his watch in front of us. This unfortunate incident left a very disappointing impression at the end of our stay.

    Family Extraordinary Experience

    We had a wonderful villa experience during the busy August holiday season. All three generations of our family enjoyed it. Overall, the property was new and well-cleaned. However, a bit more prior information would have been helpful: ① There was no DVD player available (we rented or brought DVDs unnecessarily). ② BBQ facilities were available, and we appreciated the preparation of fire starters. While firewood was provided, it came with a note prohibiting its use for BBQs, so bringing charcoal was essential. We had to rely on a hot plate as an alternative. ③ Having restrooms on both floors would have been ideal. ④ The bathroom was slightly small but manageable. Overall, it was a pleasant stay! Thank you!

    Highly Satisfied

    Stayed for 2 nights at Murasakishikibu. The spacious and beautiful layout, along with the clean and well-maintained Room, made our entire family very satisfied! The kitchenware was fully equipped, allowing us to cook anything we wanted. Even though it rained during our barbecue, we could enjoy it without any issues thanks to the covered terrace! We would love to stay here again!

    We were able to fully enjoy winter in Karuizawa.

    We stayed as a family of four (couple + 1-year-old and 5-year-old). Despite the severe winter, the inside of the cottage was warm and comfortable. The children were delighted with the hammock. The snowy scenery was beautiful and very nice. The meals were plentiful, and the drink service was good. We also enjoyed the wood stove. *The firewood was damp due to the snow, so we used thin firewood (placed under the wooden deck) for ignition. There was no axe for splitting firewood. Since we stayed for two nights, we placed firewood on top of the stove on the first night to dry it for the second night. There were no instructions on how to ignite damp firewood, so I thought it would be helpful to have some. [Additional information about access (if not using a car)] It is about a 5-minute walk from the bus stop in front of Karuizawa (Karuizawa) Junior High School to the cottage. There aren't many buses, but if the timing is right, it's convenient to use. In winter, perhaps due to the many winter sports users, the taxi stand at the north exit of the station is not very crowded, and there is no waiting for taxis. The fare from the taxi to the cottage was about 1700-1900 yen. It is about a 20-minute walk to Tsuruya (supermarket). On the way to the supermarket, there is a house with a large Akita dog that often barks. [Disappointing points] The washbasin in the bathroom has no rim and is very slippery. It is difficult to use when pouring water or washing. When washing the children, I was worried that my hand might slip and the basin might fall on their feet. I thought it might be worth considering placing a bucket or using a washbasin with a rim. Also, although the bathroom is small, the cold air from the window is intense, so I thought it might be a good idea to add an inner window like in the living room. The bathroom and washroom were cold and uncomfortable... (There is floor heating, though). The hall in front of the entrance to the living room (such as the Japanese-style room) seemed like it could be used as a play area or for naps when I looked at the layout, but it was very cold without heating and with drafts from the entrance door, so it was not a usable space. It might be usable as a space in summer, but it seems better to consider it out of the equation in winter.

    Improvement needed for winter use.

    The maintenance is insufficient for the winter cold, and the gas stove smells due to inadequate exhaust. The bathroom and toilet, which are around 10 degrees, are particularly harsh. The room's heating air conditioner stops for about 50 minutes during defrosting operation, causing the indoor temperature to drop. Some family members couldn't sleep due to the cold and even got sick. The kind service spirit was appreciated, but simply saying "please increase the stove temperature" did not improve our living conditions, making the trip feel completely different from the advertised image. I believe improvements can be made with stove checks and repairs, ventilation checks, and three oil heaters. The health of traveling families is important. Proper facility management is necessary.

    It is a cozy space.

    We stayed at Konara with a family of five and one dog. Overall, it was clean, the facilities were new, and we had a comfortable stay. The service is rated 4 points because we only met the staff at the beginning and the end, but there were no complaints at all. The bath is small, so it is not suitable for those who prioritize the bath. I used it in the morning and evening, but it was clean and easy to use, so there was no problem. The only disappointment was that I wanted to use the wood stove, but I couldn't manage it even after reading the instructions. Also, the water flow is quite strong, so you need to be careful at first. Additionally, it might be more reassuring if there were two locks and a chain lock on the entrance door. Other than that, the living room, bedroom, loft, and kitchen were all comfortable. The gift in the refrigerator was also a pleasant surprise.
