We truly enjoyed experiencing a different side of Amami.

Until now, we hadn’t been able to stay overnight because our child was still small, but now that they are in junior high school, we were able to stay here for the first time (2 nights). The room is literally right in front of the ocean, and we were amazed that the beach is just a few seconds away on foot. The shower room is also spacious, and there is an environment where you can cook for yourself, which I think will be appreciated by guests who like to cook—though it was a bit wasted on our family. Both nights of our stay were blessed with great weather, and the sunset was truly beautiful—an incredible view. Waking up to an oceanfront location really felt like an “adult Accommodation.” We have visited Amami many times, but we enjoyed dishes that are not often found elsewhere. Everything was very delicious, and our family was very happy. It was very convenient that the parking area and restaurant were close to the room, but it was a little disappointing that the laundry Facility required driving, had limited hours, and cost extra.

    My mother and I stay...

My mother and I stayed here together in late April. We stayed in a beachfront Room with a wonderful ocean view. It was a lovely stay: we could hear the waves all day, woke up to the sound of the waves in the morning, and fell asleep peacefully to them at night. Hardly anyone came to the beach right in front of our Room, so we were able to enjoy private time. Occasionally other guests took photos around check-in/check-out times, but there were blinds, so we felt comfortable and at ease. We had both breakfast and dinner at 2waters. The healthy, delicious dishes made with local island ingredients were beautiful to look at as well, and enjoying them while looking out at the sea made the experience even more special. The souvenir shop at Ma-gun Plaza also had a stylish selection, different from what you find at airport shops, so we were able to buy great souvenirs. It was my first time visiting Amami Oshima, but experiencing Amami culture warmed my heart. All of the staff were very kind. If I have the chance, I would love to stay again.

The newly launched dinner was excellent!

I stay at this Accommodation once or twice a year on business, and it’s incredibly comfortable. A luxurious space where having nothing is the ultimate indulgence. The new Dinner Course B, launched this month by the new chef, makes the most of Amami ingredients and truly moved me. I’d love to visit again before the end of the year.

Pure bliss in doing nothing awaits you here.

My wife and I stayed here to do nothing and simply feel Amami’s nature. The view from the large Room window was breathtaking. The deep blue sea, the beautiful sunset, and even a sky full of stars. It was a luxurious time to enjoy the ever-changing beauty of Amami’s ocean from our Room. No TV needed. No smartphone needed. Even with nothing, there is something there. Breakfast, dinner, the Room, and the view— each one became an unforgettable memory. Thank you to all the staff involved with Denpaku. Just one note: If you’re particular about hair dryers—regardless of gender—I recommend bringing your own. (My wife seemed to have a hard time drying her hair.) Other than that, no complaints at all. As for the weather, I’m praying for clear skies.

Accommodation for guests who value atmosphere

Because the villas are standalone, I understand that check-in at a lobby may not be possible, but the guidance felt unhelpful. The location requires a few minutes’ drive, and the advance information that check-in was also available at the adjacent restaurant was insufficient. We were told the air-conditioner remote would be hard to reach, but even when set to heating it did not work. No matter what we tried, it only seemed to blow air. We visited in late January, and although this is a tropical resort, it was cold enough that we ended up filling the bathtub with hot water to warm up or staying under the covers in bed. The space was stylish as shown on the website, but there was little consideration for practicality—for example, condensation on the bathroom walls and mirror left water all over the sink area. It felt like “style above all else.” I don’t think these issues will improve unless management actually stays here themselves and experiences them firsthand rather than leaving everything to cleaning and setup staff. If you’re someone who values photo-worthy aesthetics above everything else, this Accommodation will likely be perfect.

A Highly Satisfying Trip to Amami

This was my first visit to Amami Oshima, and choosing this Accommodation was absolutely the right decision. The Room I had been looking forward to was even more comfortable than I imagined, and it was wonderful to be able to see a beautiful sunset even in the off-season! The meals featuring local Amami ingredients were also delicious, and thanks to the warm support from all the staff, I enjoyed a comfortable stay with everything I needed. I’d love to come back again when it gets warmer.

    Private Beach

This stylish cottage offers well-appointed Facility, making your stay as comfortable as—if not more comfortable than—being at home. Walk down the wooden stairs and you’ll find a private beach. The location is also excellent. If anything, it would have been nice to have an outdoor tap to rinse sand off your feet. Meals are thoughtfully prepared using local ingredients. I loved both the flavors and the concept. The selection of alcoholic drinks is also outstanding. Thank you very much.

It was a very lovely accommodation.

I stayed alone and was able to relax while listening to the sound of the waves. In the morning, it felt like I was floating on the sea when looking out from the bed. The staff were friendly and accommodating. I will visit again.

Perfect for stargazing enthusiasts, though it has a purely atmospheric and makeshift feel.

After falling in love with the terrace photos on social media, I had been curious about this accommodation for years and finally got the chance to stay. First, check-in was confusing as it needed to be done at a souvenir shop-like location 5–10 minutes by car from the accommodation building—something to be cautious about. (Although it was mentioned at the bottom of the Reservation Confirmation Email from IKYU.com, I found it insufficiently explained and unkind.) The welcome drink was self-serve as well. The view of the blue ocean from the lounge was stunning! The room had large windows that looked like framed paintings, perfect for photos. However, during a Multiple Night Stay, I noticed inconveniences such as manually raising and lowering blinds that hurt my hands, only two towels provided as a bare minimum, and even hair stuck on plates. It became clear that operations were not customer-oriented, leaving me with mixed feelings. The Japanese breakfast delivered to my room on the first morning (with no option to choose delivery time) was truly disappointing. The miso soup's winter melon tasted watery and hard; fish resembled something from a cheap 380-yen bento box—dry and thin; mixed rice came in such small portions that even preschoolers might eat more—it left me feeling sad. On day two at breakfast in the lounge (after having zero expectations based on day one), I found Western-style options surprisingly delightful! The bread was exceptional! Staff promptly cleared plates and attentively offered refills for drinks or bread—it made for an excellent experience overall. Such highs and lows over just two days! I also used their pool but found it sterile with only one lonely chair placed there. When asking if they had floaties or similar items available: "You might find some at our main building 5–10 minutes away by car," they said—not exactly convenient when you'd need to change clothes again just for this. Comparing this stay with Miru Amami where I'd stayed previously—a place offering beautiful seas teeming with fish alongside generous lending of beach gear like floaties plus abundant towels stocked generously within rooms—I couldn't help but feel disheartened here. Even worse: trash washed ashore near their beachfront made swimming unappealing... However—the stargazing experience from their terrace at night? Absolutely breathtaking! Possibly among life's best views—a true natural planetarium moment!! For stargazing enthusiasts especially highly recommended! While undoubtedly photogenic accommodations likely attracting many future visitors still—I felt its service quality fell short relative against its price exceeding ¥50k per night… Amenities being entirely Aesop-branded seemed more like added costs rather than thoughtful touches fitting value expectations overall…

A peaceful getaway in a serene space where only the sound of waves resonates. The crystal-clear blue sea is truly stunning, allowing you to spend your time simply gazing at the ocean. The meals were delicious and absolutely satisfying! Unfortunately, we missed out on dinner as it was unavailable during our stay, which was disappointing. We hope to visit again if we have another opportunity—thank you very much!

The sound from the toilet is fully audible.

The toilet, bathroom, and bed are connected without any ceiling separation, so if staying with more than one person, all sounds from the toilet can be heard. If you fill the bathtub with water, the living area becomes filled with humidity. Cleaning and towel replacement are not provided unless staying for three or more consecutive nights. There is no TV in the room. Despite this, the accommodation fee is 45,000 yen per person, making it a place that seems to cater to very specific preferences.

The Room offers a sense of escape from the ordinary.

Stylish design with direct beach access from the Room, and at night, you can relax on the terrace while listening to the sound of waves and geckos as background music. The building offers a "special" and "extraordinary" experience, making me want to stay again. The restaurant was closed during this season, so I did not use it. However, there were some concerns: the heating system was ineffective, poor construction quality of certain areas, and lack of hospitality. It was still cold at night with thin bedding provided; even turning on the heater didn’t help much. Later I found in the instructions that you need to adjust the remote control angle for it to work properly by ensuring a beep sound is heard when switching it on. The toilet is not separate but located right next to the living area. The sliding door between them doesn’t close completely due to poor fitting, leaving a gap where someone lying in bed could make eye contact through a mirror reflection—making it uncomfortable. I had high expectations based on Reviews mentioning "great hospitality," but unfortunately, that wasn’t my experience. While staff spoke politely enough during check-in when I couldn’t figure out where to park my car initially despite seeing staff wandering around near reception or restaurant areas—no one offered assistance or guidance proactively. When asking about changing Rooms upon arrival—it was an immediate “No” without any effort like checking availability for later nights or offering alternatives such as adjustments after 2nd-night stays etc., showing no willingness towards accommodating guests' needs whatsoever. Additionally frustrating moments included noticing cars parked inconveniently near our parking spot being ignored by management despite causing trouble accessing spaces easily; daytime encounters passing staff resulted mostly indifferent/unresponsive attitudes rather than friendly greetings expected given prior glowing Reviews online which ultimately led disappointment instead positive impression overall!

First Trip to Amami Oshima with My Mother

I visited Amami Oshima for the first time with my 57-year-old mother. Although we arrived a bit early, we were warmly welcomed, and the butterfly pea welcome drink was absolutely delicious. The Room exceeded our expectations with its spaciousness, and despite the mostly rainy and cloudy weather, we enjoyed a stunning ocean view. The terrace was especially open and relaxing; we had both dinner and breakfast outside. One concern was that the bathroom and toilet shared the same space without any partitions, which might be uncomfortable unless you're very close to your companion. However, aside from that point, it was a very satisfying stay in a wonderful Room. During check-in, staff shared stories about local wildlife, making it enjoyable to hear animal sounds from outside while feeling connected to nature throughout our stay. Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t great this time with only brief moments of sunshine; I hope to visit again on a sunny day!

    Experienced the extraordinary.

I spent time in a stylish Room of a concrete house on the front beach. It was a quiet moment. The staff's response was very good, and I was satisfied. If I were to be greedy, the relaxing chairs were stylish but not very comfortable to sit on. The meals and drinks like coffee were also very delicious. Thank you very much.

The Gap Between Ideals and Reality

First, I faced difficulties during check-in. When I entered the main contact number into the GPS of my rental car (2024 model), it directed me to a building far from the front desk. Wouldn't it be better to include this information in the reminder email? (This might be an oversight on IKYU's part.) That day, the temperature was low, and the wind was strong. Although the Room I was shown to had the heating turned on in advance, the concrete-exposed Room was still freezing. No wonder—the air conditioner's vent was obstructed by the structure, preventing warm air from circulating widely, and even at maximum capacity, it struggled to heat the Room. As for the bathroom, the bathtub was relatively large and stylish with mosaic tiles, but the water cooled quickly, and since there was no reheating function, I had to keep adding hot water from the propane water heater set to 50°C. The floor and walls were also made of cold, bare concrete, making it impossible to relax. The amenities were provided on a request basis, and while there was a note in the toilet asking guests to "use up the paper to protect the environment," I felt a contradiction and guilt about having to waste fuel. The concept of the property is to "engage with the island's 'nature,'" offering a space away from the hustle and bustle of daily life where guests can reflect on themselves through the beautiful nature of Amami. However, with Room conditions like that, it is difficult to reflect on oneself. There were also issues with the attached restaurant. Although I informed them at check-in that I would have breakfast at the restaurant on both days, breakfast was delivered to my Room at 7:30 AM on the second day while I was still asleep. I informed them that this was not what I had requested, and they changed it to the restaurant, but unlike the first day when only the time range was communicated without a specific time slot, on the second day, I was told that only 8:15 or 9:30 were available. The meals use local ingredients extensively, and breakfast is given special attention. However, the homemade ham served at dinner was too hard and dry, lacking flavor, and the lasagna was of a quality comparable to (or worse than?) a family restaurant. It's a shame because the location is excellent. With a Room charge exceeding 40,000 yen per night, I couldn't help but question the management's sense of business.

Above all, the well-equipped kitchen makes cooking very easy, and once you stock up on ingredients, you can enjoy a leisurely stay. The beautiful sea and the sound of waves are always right in front of you, offering unparalleled luxury. The unique arrangement of the toilet and shower is not uncomfortable, and I eventually got used to it.

    About Stays

Every year, I decide on a location and Hotel early and make a Reservation to watch the Geminid meteor shower. I try to choose a wonderful Hotel, considering the possibility of unfavorable weather. This time, it was cloudy and then rainy, but even with the clouds, the sea was a light turquoise blue, and I enjoyed a welcome tea while gazing at the sea and reading in my Room. The sea side is all glass, so even when it's cloudy, there is a sense of openness, and I was healed by the view. You can also see the sea from the bath. At the restaurant, I enjoyed rare dishes and wines or shochu recommended by the wonderful staff, or rather the sommelier. I was surprised at how much I consumed. I was able to spend such a precious time thanks to this Hotel and its staff. Thank you very much.

I was able to relax, but...

It was my first time on Amami Oshima and my first solo trip, so I was able to relax very much as my goal was a retreat stay. I was able to reach Heart Rock in about 15 minutes by car, and I was blessed with good weather, allowing me to spend a leisurely time. I didn't order meals, but I think it would have been nice to have a meal at the counter with the ocean spreading out in front of me at least once. There is an A-Coop supermarket nearby, so I didn't have any trouble with meals, but it was a shame that there was no microwave. On the IKYU site, the photos of the room I stayed in showed a microwave, and it was checked in the amenities section, so I naturally thought there would be a microwave, but there wasn't, so I couldn't warm up my meals, which was disappointing. Also, there is no TV. And when I turned on the water in the washbasin, there was a rusty smell, giving the impression that it might be a room that hasn't been used for a long time. I chose the cheapest room thinking it would be fine as long as I could relax while gazing at the sea at this beachfront property, but it was the room at the very end of the Denpaku, so in the morning, there was movement of local people's cars and shadows, so if you are concerned about that, I think it's better to reserve a room one rank higher. There are no egg chairs or hammocks either. About amenities... I brought my own toothbrush, so I didn't receive anything, but since it's a hotel with a reasonable price, I thought it might be nice to have at least the minimum in the room. It might be unavoidable to protect the environment, though...

The Hotel I've always wanted to stay at!

The property exceeded expectations! At check-in, I let out my first exclamation of admiration. Then, upon entering the room, I couldn't help but exclaim "Wonderful!" for the second time. Despite the unfortunate weather, the view from the window was still lovely, and the interior was filled with things I liked. I was able to spend a luxurious time doing nothing, just gazing out the window.

I really liked this very comfortable Stays.

The proximity to the sea, the ocean-facing bath, the texture of the ceiling, and the staff's service all had an amateurish feel, but were filled with love and were very good. The meals, including the concept, allowed us to fully enjoy the ingredients of Amami. The price was somewhat reasonable, perhaps even a bit cheap. I will visit again.

    Stays during a typhoon

The weather was rough due to the typhoon, but thanks to that, we were able to enjoy a relaxing stay! Dinner was not available every day, so we had to eat out, but the breakfast was very delicious. The parking space is a bit tricky to enter, but there is plenty of space, so if you are a good driver, even a large car is not a problem.

The Hotel has nothing but the great nature: "Sea," "Mountain," "Sky," and "Starry Sky."

No sense of hospitality Hotel Facility: There is nothing. Room: There are no doors inside the room. There are no doors for the bathroom or toilet. The concept of the design is unclear. (The room is smaller than the photos on the website) The horizontal pillar inside the room is 180cm, which is too low for me at 182cm, causing me to hit my head several times. The ceiling is also low, so at least 200cm is desired. There is no TV. There is no radio. 2 Waters: Dinner: A la carte, but the selection is limited and the content is sparse. Breakfast ① In-room dining: The breakfast content is excellent. Breakfast ② In-store dining: The breakfast content is excellent, but the cleanup "leftover sorting" is done in front of you while eating. There is no customer perspective, and the work is done from the store's standpoint. There is a need to be conscious of hospitality. Overall: Suitable for those who seek great nature, not suitable for those who seek facilities and services.

A calm Stays where you can take a deep breath.

I came here with a friend from Tokyo to refresh. The distance to the sea was closer than I imagined, and stepping out onto the terrace made me feel one with nature. The simplicity of the interior further relaxed my mind. I appreciated the consideration for disposable plastics by not providing amenities. It might not be suitable for those accustomed to luxury or excessive services. It's more on the zen side! Haha. I was very satisfied with the tranquility and stylishness of the interior!

I had decided to definitely stay when visiting Amami Oshima. The deciding factor was being able to access the sea directly from the room. The location is quite challenging without a car, but if you request it three days in advance, they will pick you up. We were grateful as they also stopped by a supermarket for us. The room was spacious with large, beautiful windows, and it was fully equipped with everything from a microwave to plates, which was fantastic. However, to our surprise, the bathroom and toilet were all connected without doors, which was something we hadn't checked beforehand... But there was a toilet in the building where you check in, so those concerned can use that as well. We had breakfast on the balcony(?) with chairs lined up. The breakfast was very satisfying with plenty of vegetables that we don't usually eat and a generous portion. The brown sugar caramel for the bread was especially delicious. The sea was beautiful, and the sounds of birds and geckos made it a very nature-rich and wonderful hotel.

The sound of waves, a Stays that feels like Amami

I had been looking forward to staying at a property where I could feel the essence of Amami! The wooden ceiling and water facilities were all stylish. Lying on the bed, the sound of the waves was pleasant, and I woke up feeling great. I wanted to try various Amami-style foods, so I was impressed by the island pork on the Taman (taimo?) I had at the restaurant. Taman was also served as a potage for breakfast, and I liked it so much that I would want to go back just to have it again.

A stylish Hotel that does not disappoint expectations.

We stayed for 2 nights and 3 days for a late summer vacation with my wife. Since our previous stay was at a pension in Kakeroma, the gap was significant, and my wife's excitement rose the moment we checked in. The stylish building combining concrete and wood, and the wonderful beachfront location are needless to say, but you can feel the attention to detail with bath amenities from ESOP and pajamas from Yohji Yamamoto's living line. Moreover, the service was courteous yet friendly, leaving a positive impression. We had breakfast in the restaurant and in-room on different days. Since it was sunny, we enjoyed the in-room breakfast on the wooden deck, which was very liberating and fantastic. The points of concern were the toilet and air conditioning. The toilet, typical of designer styles, had no door. While it offers a sense of openness, even as a couple, we were considerate and had the other person step out onto the balcony each time it was used. The air conditioning might have been due for cleaning, as there was quite a bit of dust accumulated. Although it didn't affect its use, it stood out because other cleaning was thorough. Nevertheless, we were very satisfied overall and would like to use it again when we revisit Amami.
