Satisfied with the warm, personal hospitality

This is the birthplace of NIPPONIA, and it shows in how clearly they uphold what truly matters. You can feel that philosophy reflected in the staff’s hospitality. The “Risshu” (Start of Autumn) menu, centered on yamame trout and carefully selected local ingredients, conveys even the producers’ passion. You can also tell how much care the chef puts into the dashi. To experience everything, you’d need to visit 24 times. While I did notice a few small points, overall it was simply outstanding.

A relaxing retreat for adults with a nostalgic Showa-era atmosphere

The Showa-era glass windows and the feel of the wooden floorboards were wonderfully nostalgic. They brought back memories of when I was six and lived in a large house that even had servants’ quarters. The house was soon demolished, but it had an earthen-floor entryway, and even the door lock was a screw-type one... The meal was excellent, and we paid extra for a full bottle of rosé wine to enjoy at a leisurely pace. After dinner, we gathered around the campfire and had great conversations with other guests—it was a delightful night under the stars.

    It was very relaxing.

This was my first stay at NIPPONIA in Kosuge Village—something I’d been hoping to do ever since I learned it was there, after visiting the village several times on touring trips. The space, renovated from a traditional house over 150 years old, is meticulously cared for in every detail and uniquely comfortable. From the entrance gate to the front area—and of course the Room itself—everything was wonderful, and I immediately felt at ease. I relaxed so much that I collapsed into bed early and missed the evening bonfire, which is my only regret (laugh). The thickly smoked beams, thoughtfully designed indirect lighting, a dining table suitable for working, a beautifully maintained garden with spring water running through it, chairs to enjoy the view and a solo hammock, a semi-open-air bath, and a large fluffy bed—everything was perfect. I was also impressed that instead of the cheap alcohol often found with “all-inclusive” plans, they offered genuinely recommended local alcoholic drinks and soft drinks along with small snacks. The staff’s kindness—waiting outside just for us in the heat—meant a lot. Walking around Kosuge was also fun. Everything was soothing. Just one thing: dinner. It was a luxurious course featuring river fish or pork in almost every dish, but there were rich sauces used throughout, which left my mouth and stomach feeling a bit tired. The fact that every dish felt like a main might be great for energetic younger guests; however, if there had been something lighter—like a refreshing salad using delicious local vegetables—to provide some contrast “in between,” each dish might have stood out even more. Overall it was an excellent experience that truly put me at ease. I got real rest here. Thank you very much.

    Dinner was delicious.

Last week, I stayed at the Matsubarako Accommodation of the same company, and both this Accommodation and the one this time offered delicious meals and enjoyable Kosuge Village guided tours. I stayed in a Kura-style room, but the doors to the bedroom and washroom were heavy and difficult to move, so I think improvement is needed. The drinks during dinner were inclusive and very enjoyable. After breakfast, I rented an electric-assist bicycle for cycling, which was also fun. It was a delightful trip; thank you very much!

    It was excellent. I ...

It was excellent. I stayed at the cliffside accommodation, and both the view and the room were very satisfying. The staff were very kind, and I would love to visit again. The food and the onsen made it a wonderful trip that relieved my daily fatigue. Thank you very much.

I'm sorry, but I need more context to provide an appropriate translation. Could you please clarify or provide additional details?

A group staying on the same dates was making noise in the neighboring room past midnight, making it difficult to sleep peacefully. As this hotel is a renovated traditional house with low soundproofing walls, it would be appreciated if guests could be reminded to keep quiet after lights-out. The meals and hospitality of the staff were excellent. I would love to stay again.

You can feel the local charm.

As a wheelchair user who is not fond of river fish, I initially made the reservation because I loved the concept of NIPPONIA's accommodation. Through prior email communication, I felt reassured about accessibility for wheelchair users. True to its name as "The Village of Clear Streams," the recommended river fish dishes were completely free from any unpleasant odor and truly delicious. The cooking methods wonderfully highlighted the quality of ingredients sourced from Kosuge producers. Additionally, most beverages during meals were complimentary, with many being locally produced in Yamanashi Prefecture, offering a genuine sense of local production for local consumption. For breakfast, grilled koji-marinated trout was served and had no trace of unpleasant smell even when cooked—I enjoyed it so much that my husband was surprised at how eagerly I ate it! Kosuge's river fish are truly exceptional. On our way home, we received "Haruo-san’s Honey" as a Diamond Member benefit and imagined what kind of person Haruo-san might be while vowing to visit again. Thank you for all the wonderful memories!

    This is a repeat vis...

This is a repeat visit. Once again, it was a very relaxing stay and I enjoyed it very much. When I feel like returning to the countryside, I think of Kosuge Village. As before, the meals were very delicious. The strawberry and yuzu mousse was particularly exquisite; I loved the chewy texture and would like to have it again. Having snacks available in the lounge was great for when I got a little hungry. The weather was nice this time, and seeing the starry sky at night became a wonderful memory. The numerous stars, which cannot be seen in the city, were incredibly beautiful. I would like to visit again in another season. Thank you very much.

I want to live in Kosuge Village.

We were blessed with good weather, and the view from the room was excellent. The compactly arranged room was very comfortable. After checking out, we were taken to the roadside station, where we enjoyed shopping and the Onsen. It was very crowded since it was Sunday, but it was nice. The water in the room and the ingredients for the dinner we ordered as an option were delicious. We didn't order breakfast, but we ended up eating too much with the leftover ingredients. The guide who provided the shuttle service to Otsuki Station talked about Kosuge Village throughout the 30-minute one-way trip, making the journey enjoyable. The local staff were all very kind and helpful. Thank you very much. I would like to visit again.
