    It exceeded my expectations!

    In conclusion, we stayed with two meals included, and it was absolutely the right choice. This is Hoshidare Accommodation. From the compact exterior, you enter using the password sent in advance by email, and you’re greeted by a wonderful entrance with white gravel! There are handwritten message cards from the manager everywhere, and although you don’t meet anyone in person, it really feels like a warm welcome. The Room was just the right size, and it also had a washer-dryer and a humidifying air purifier. Amenities included loungewear, yukata robes, and bathrobes—and it was my first time ever having two bath towels per person. Meals are self-serve for heating and plating, so we fumbled a bit at first, but preparing everything while chatting was fun too. The presentation was gorgeous, and there was more than enough food. I was worried about how many drinks would be available, but there were plenty as well. They even put a name label on our bottle of sparkling wine. I was impressed by how delicious the tap water was—smooth with no harshness at all. The bath is an alkaline hot spring with free-flowing source water; it was so amazing that I went in again and again. The hair dryer is Dyson—definitely exciting—and they also provided various face masks and lotions. The good-quality ice cream after dinner was pure bliss. Even the main dish at breakfast—the homemade Sendai beef stewed curry—was incredibly delicious... Overall it was fantastic, so I’d absolutely like to stay again. If I had to mention one thing: the pre-stay email arrived late morning on the day before check-in, which made me worry whether my Reservation had gone through—but since the site clearly says they’ll email by the day before, it’s not an issue. Also, I wasn’t sure which plate to use for curry—I hesitated over that one! I definitely want to come back again.

    Vacation Rental House

    We enjoyed a relaxing family stay without meeting anyone. This is a beautifully restored traditional Japanese house accommodation. Basically, think of it as a rental villa. The bath was excellent with great views, but the light meal plan was truly just light meals. We booked for three people, but the hot pot ingredients included only two dumplings and two scallops. When we inquired by phone, we were told that this was correct. You will need to order additional dishes, dine at a restaurant beforehand, or bring your own food. The photos on the site are misleading; they should only show the hot pot itself to avoid confusion. Even the dessert ice cream in the fridge was from Shatoraisé, which felt disappointing given the accommodation fee—using local Zao ice cream would have been much better. While the facility and onsen were excellent overall, it felt like such a missed opportunity due to these issues. Make sure to carefully check reviews and thoroughly confirm all details when making your reservation. Improving meal options could attract more guests—it feels like such a waste otherwise!

    It was disappointing as I trusted IKYU.

    I have stayed at many wonderful accommodations through IKYU.com in the past. However, this time, I was honestly disappointed with the accommodation considering the cost of approximately 70,000 yen (I stayed in the most affordable room). When making the reservation, I read everyone's reviews carefully. However, none of the issues mentioned in the reviews had been improved, and I did not feel any effort to enhance their service. The coffee beans were old, and it was unclear whether some dishes were meant for dinner or breakfast—just as stated in previous reviews. Overall, I felt that the service did not match its cost. For example: only one portion of laundry detergent was provided when using the washing machine; foot mats had poor water absorption; and amenities like shampoo were of low quality. Additionally, since dining areas, sleeping spaces, and dressing rooms were almost integrated into one space design-wise, it would have been nice if they at least provided something like a quick floor wiper for cleaning purposes. As mentioned in other reviews as well—the hygiene level of slippers and overall cleanliness left much to be desired. Furthermore—while enjoying their lovely garden on their wooden deck—I got bitten by mosquitoes but was told over a phone call that they didn’t have mosquito coils available when requested. As an accommodation overall—it felt subpar compared to expectations. While my feedback may seem harsh—I’ve always trusted IKYU.com as a platform recommending high-quality accommodations—which makes this experience all more disappointing. That said—the location "Aone Onsen" itself along with its hot spring quality is wonderful—and I'd love returning there someday—but unfortunately won’t be staying at this particular accommodation again... I hope these comments can help improve their services moving forward!

    I found this system ...

    I found this system interesting. During my stay, there was no contact with the Property staff. Both dinner and breakfast were set in the refrigerator, with cooking utensils and seasonings provided. For items that required heating, I had to cook them myself (using an induction cooker. At home, I use gas, so it was my first time using one, but I managed). Alcohol was also prepared in the refrigerator. The size of the bathroom and the temperature of the Onsen were just right, and the windows could be opened to enjoy the fresh air. Guests can spend their time as they please. I would like to use this Property again. However, regarding the cooking utensils, the recipe mentioned using a frying pan to grill salmon in the morning, but the frying pan and pot were stacked together, and there was some oil on the contact surface with the pot. Therefore, I used the pot (which I assumed was made of the same material as the frying pan) for cooking. In most Onsen Ryokan, disposable chopsticks are used, but here, reusable chopsticks were provided. I believe the chopsticks and cooking utensils were washed, but for future stays, it might be better to bring your own cooking utensils (such as a gas stove and chopsticks).

    Luxurious Time

    Arrived at the Property after dark, but the entrance was a bit hard to find as the gate area was under construction. The meals were pre-prepared in individual buildings, offering a unique experience different from a typical Onsen Ryokan. Despite being unmanned, the stay was relaxing and comfortable. The meals were well-prepared and easy to enjoy in a self-service manner. The private bath was spacious and well-designed, which was great. It would have been nice if the TV allowed access to the internet or YouTube to listen to music and such.

    The best property for a completely private and carefree stay

    It was a rare type of Property with Onsen, where you can rent the entire building and enjoy meals included. All meals are stored in the refrigerator, allowing you to eat whenever you like. We recommend checking in at 3 PM, leisurely enjoying your meals, taking a dip in the Onsen in between, and sipping some drinks. This is a way to spend your time that you can't experience at a Ryokan where dishes are brought one after another. The food is truly delicious, and you can tell that the chef prepared it with heartfelt care. Plenty of towels are provided, and there are many amenities available. Although you won't have contact with anyone due to the self-check-in process, the owner's thoughtful touches are scattered throughout, allowing you to feel the hospitality in this wonderful Stays.
