Escape the hustle and bustle of the city.
We chose this vacation house in the Maoi area of Naganuma Town to get away from the city noise, relax in nature, and recharge. It had already been featured by various people on YouTube, so it fully lived up to our expectations. All we could hear were birdsong, insects, and the wind. Just watching the sky change—from sunset to twilight, a sky full of stars, and then dawn—made all our worries fade away. We stayed at Maoiq konfort, designed around a Scandinavian interior concept. The Louis Poulsen pendant lights in the double-height space were beautiful as they reflected again and again in the glass against the sunset sky. For me, unlike a Hotel stay, there’s simply no alternative to a vacation house where you can spend time privately and peacefully without anyone disturbing you—so I don’t mind a small difference in cost. Thank you for such a wonderful stay. Below are a few points that I felt would make it even better, from my perspective working in architecture and interiors: I would have liked an interior roller blind since the entrance door is glass. Similarly, vertical blinds on the living-room windows facing the double-height space would be helpful. It would be best if there were dimmer circuits for the lighting switches. I’d prefer outlets by the bed to be on the center side; there was nowhere convenient to place my phone while charging. The bedside light is positioned too high and falls into your line of sight when lying down. If Scandinavian design is truly the concept, I’d like to see floor or table lamps added. I wanted lower-level lighting overall. (Downlights on the double-height ceiling don’t feel necessary.) To enjoy stargazing at night, I wanted an on/off switch for the lighting that illuminates the white birch trunks across from the terrace. A luggage rack would be appreciated—I didn’t want to bring dirty suitcase wheels indoors.

The space features a fireplace and old-style furnishings, creating a very calm and relaxing atmosphere.
Unlike the key number system common in Vacation Rentals, staff will provide a detailed explanation during check-in. The location is in a corner of a villa area, and being at the very end, you can enjoy views of the adjacent ranch from the second floor. In the photos listed on IKYU.com, there is a building visible next door; however, it is an unused annex ensuring your privacy. The Room features a calm design with elements like a first-floor fireplace and old-style furnishings that create an extraordinary atmosphere just by sitting there. Unlike many Vacation Rentals with multiple bedrooms, this property has one main bedroom and an additional small room with bunk beds. For smaller groups, this layout allows for more spacious use of the Room. Everything was impeccably clean, including water facilities. There’s also equipment to project onto walls for watching YouTube or other content—though slightly tricky to use at first; pointing the remote directly at the device instead of the screen resolves any issues. For dinner, we ate at a restaurant under the same management just one minute away on foot. The creative dishes were delicious and elaborate—especially considering their reasonable price. Naganuma Town offers many delicious (and affordable) dining options despite its small population—you’ll be spoiled for choice when it comes to lunch spots! Next time, I’d love to stay at another property called KOMFORT!

Second Stay
This was our second stay at MAOIQ Accommodation, as per my wife's strong wish. We chose a different building this time, but both are equally stylish facilities. We ordered the room dinner set, which was more than enough for one day. In fact, we enjoyed it as breakfast and even as a late-night snack the next day. It was absolutely delicious. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Hokkaido.

Relaxing Winter Vacation with Family
We stayed at MAOIQ Komfort for 2 nights with 3 adults and 2 children (5 and 2 years old). We wanted to relax as a family while watching the snow in Hokkaido, and it was fulfilled in a wonderful way, making it an unforgettable winter vacation. Thank you very much. The bright living room with large glass windows offers a serene view, a spacious and convenient dirt floor with a fireplace, and a stylish second-floor kitchen and counter table that make cooking and dining enjoyable (with a view from here too!). Every part of the property was not only high-sense and comfortable but also featured furniture, appliances, and amenities that seemed to be carefully chosen with the user's feelings in mind, and the layout was very functional and comfortable. We hardly went out, played in the snow and took walks nearby during the day, enjoyed the view while having tea, and cooked meat and vegetables we bought on the way with local wine. I wish I had brought tea leaves and cocoa to enhance tea time, a little rice to try the wonderful rice cooker, and small butter for the hard bread for breakfast... (I should have gone out to buy them, but I was lazy). Everything was very satisfying, but what made us especially happy: Not only did the adults relax, but the children also thoroughly enjoyed themselves. (They made a secret base under the stairs, watched Prime Video with the projector, were thrilled by the fireplace, shouted "Yahoo" from the glass in the second-floor bedroom, and lay down in the freshly fallen fluffy snow...) The breakfast bacon and tomato juice were particularly delicious, and I also liked the waterfall bath and the scent of the amenities. Thank you for noticing the forgotten items. I am still immersed in the afterglow, thinking that I could have such an experience in Japan... (It reminded me of a place called PurePod where I stayed in New Zealand before). We will visit again.

The Best Christmas
Previously, I used to go out in January, but due to scheduling conflicts, I made a reservation for Christmas thinking, "It might not snow." Luckily, it snowed before the day, and I was able to enjoy the snowy scenery! While enjoying the quiet, pure white landscape from the large window, lying on the sofa with the warmth of the wood stove and the crackling sound of the burning wood, I felt very calm and fulfilled. Before checking in at MAOIQ, I picked up my favorite Shandyniva Cafe's Christmas chicken and PIEME's pie, which I had reserved in advance, and spent the remaining time enjoying delicious herbal tea at the nearby Hilltop Coffee while watching the sunset (though hidden by the iridescent clouds of a sun pillar). Always warmed by the smiles of the welcoming staff, I placed the tangerines, cherry tomatoes, cookies, the book I was reading, my diary, and other belongings in their usual spots, lit the wood stove, and spent most of my time at MAOIQ, except for a visit to a nearby general store. This time, I was able to enjoy various weather conditions in Naganuma Town, including snow, sunshine, weather snow, and rain. As always, beautiful scenery appeared both inside and outside the building, so I spent my time moving around according to the sunlight and views. On a sunny morning, I drank coffee at the second-floor counter while watching the icicles glisten in the morning sun, then enjoyed breakfast at the second-floor table while basking in the sun. On a morning when the snow that fell overnight had stopped, I did a little snow shoveling to make it easier to get the car out, inhaled the crisp morning air to refresh myself, and when I got a little hungry, I ate a meat pie in front of the wood stove, enjoying the scenery and spending time leisurely doing what I liked. The interior of the building is spacious yet impeccably maintained, making it truly comfortable and pleasant, and you can feel the warm hospitality of the owner and staff. I was moved by the fact that not only did they clear the wide area of snow from the terrace in front of the entrance to the road, but they also cleaned the snow off the car! I was able to talk with the owner, and it was a stay where I fully enjoyed MAOIQ and Naganuma Town. MAOIQ and Naganuma Town remind me of the important things in everyday life that I tend to put off or neglect when busy. Thank you again for the most wonderful time.
