I fully enjoyed exploring Kurashiki on my own.
Overall, I was very satisfied. It’s a slightly small machiya-style Accommodation, and I was able to relax and spend time quietly on my own. The best feature of this Accommodation is the terrace in an outstanding location. The weather was perfect, so enjoying tea or coffee there made me truly happy. You do have to walk up a slope from the Bikan Historical Quarter street, but the view is worth it. There’s no TV, but it wasn’t a problem at all. The kitchen and bath are compact, but clean and easy to use. I’d love to come back again. I’m sure spring and autumn would be the best seasons.

Enjoyable stay
For my first trip to the Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter, I chose this style of stay, and it was absolutely the right choice. It felt like my own home—spacious and relaxing—and my friend and I enjoyed two nights experiencing life in Kurashiki. It’s located within the Bikan area and close to Achi Shrine, so it’s convenient for sightseeing, yet it was very quiet. Since amenities are different from a Hotel, you’ll need to keep that in mind, and there is no TV as well. Still, it’s a wonderful house that I’d love to visit again if I have the chance.

Accommodation that feels like staying at your grandma's house in the countryside
We stayed at Misaka's House for the first time during a trip to celebrate a 60th birthday with three women. It is a renovated traditional house rented as an entire property for two nights, located in the Bikan Historical Quarter, making it convenient for sightseeing and dining. On the last day, we were able to leave our luggage at the accommodation until just before check-out time and shop for souvenirs. From the room's veranda, you can see the connected buildings and roofs of the Bikan area, with a pleasant breeze passing through. Without a TV, we enjoyed relaxing conversations with friends. The eco-friendly touches like detergents left a positive impression. The challenging points might be navigating narrow stone steps leading to the house and parking your car through parts of the Bikan area—some parking skills are required! Oh, having a full-length mirror would have been nice!
