    Three-Generation Trip

    We stayed with my parents, my spouse and I, our three children, and one dog. We arrived after 2:00 pm, and they kindly allowed us to check in. We stayed in two Rooms, Seiran and Gekpaku, and breakfast was served for all seven of us together in Seiran. For dinner, the seven of us gathered around the irori hearth to grill the ingredients we brought, enjoying a relaxed time together. It was also fun to use the Tuk-Tuk Shuttle Service to Mochimune Station and Mochimune Minato Onsen. The grassy garden and cool earthen-floor area were comfortable for our dog as well, making this a pleasant trip for the whole family. We would love to visit again in a different season.

    We had a wonderful stay.

    An Onsen you reach by tuk-tuk. Meals by the irori hearth. Shopping with a rental bicycle. Sunset by the sea, a wonderful breakfast—everything became such fun, happy memories. I almost want to keep it a secret. I think anyone can enjoy a comfortable stay here. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

    I would like to visit again.

    This was our first stay at an Accommodation that allows cats, and we really enjoyed it. The Room was a spacious maisonette-style layout, and we were able to watch our favorite videos on a large screen with the projector, which made the stay very comfortable. Breakfast was especially great—there were rotating daily menus, and both were delicious. In the evening, we ordered Uber or bought ingredients at a local supermarket and did some light cooking in the provided kitchen, which was very convenient. When making the Reservation this time, our plans for that night weren’t fixed, so we didn’t book dinner—but next time I’d love to enjoy the shichirin grill. Overall, this stay was very comfortable, but if we visit again, I have one request: when using the kitchen shelves under the stairs, I’d like protective padding added to the underside of the lower stair treads above (even knowing it’s there, I bumped my head a few times). During our Multiple Night Stay, towels were replaced and trash was taken care of for us; however, I felt that the toothpaste provided wasn’t enough for that length of stay. If possible, I’d appreciate an extra supply for Multiple Night Stays. We were also very grateful that you prepared cat items such as a litter box; it would be even better if there were also a litter scoop (we used one we brought with us). Also, from the bed on the second floor near the stairs side, we could hear a slight operating sound from what seemed like ventilation. This may be unavoidable due to the location as well, but if only parking spaces at the back for small cars are available, parking can be a bit difficult. Lastly—this may not be related to your Facility—but even after 11:00 p.m., there was loud noise from people who may have been other guests or locals celebrating nearby. It was quite disruptive (and since staff weren’t on-site at that time, I wasn’t sure whether it was appropriate to call). I ended up writing quite a lot—but it truly was a wonderful Accommodation where we would love to stay again if given another chance (my family member who stayed with me was extremely satisfied). Thank you very much for taking such good care of both us and our cat during this visit.

    Overall comfortable

    Overall it was great, but it took a long time to fill the bath with hot water. Also, the sunken kotatsu by the irori hearth was difficult to stand up from, so it would have been perfect with one more sofa. Because the wind was strong, the entrance noren curtain hit the sliding door and bothered me at night. Breakfast was absolutely delicious!

    It was a very satisfying trip—thank you!

    [What I Liked] - The staff’s hospitality is outstanding. Their in-person and email communication and explanations are extremely courteous. - With cooking utensils and tableware provided, it’s easy to enjoy takeout meals at the Accommodation. - If you complete the questionnaire, you can receive a gift (some items are also sold for a fee at Shizuoka Station). - Sightseeing spots and restaurants are within walking distance, making it easy to get around. → Since closing days and opening hours vary, checking in advance on sites such as “Excite Mochimune” will help you make the most of your visit. [Could Be Better] - Due to the building’s structure, small flies inevitably get inside. During one night in late April, I saw at least five. Insect spray and mosquito coils are provided in the Room, but it seems hard to avoid completely. - Because the Room is spacious, it’s difficult to use your phone while charging it at the same time depending on where outlets are located. An extension cord would be helpful. - If you plan to do makeup, the wash area lighting is warm-toned, so bringing a handheld mirror may be useful. [Other Notes] - The projector (Google Play) disconnects if there is no operation for a certain period of time. Restarting the projector itself does not resolve it. → You need to work on the Google Play device side (unplug/replug HDMI on the hub side and unplug/replug AC power restores it). If you’re not familiar with devices, this can be confusing (staff will assist promptly if called). - When I went into reception around 2:00 PM, there was no response (likely because they were busy with check-in preparations). → If you plan to stop by before check-in, calling ahead may help avoid missing each other. - There was no breakfast included (No Meals Included), but around 7:30 AM the breakfast staff rang via intercom (I was asleep so it surprised me). - On rainy days, rain noise echoes through the skylight and may wake you during the night or early morning (this may vary by person).

    Stay with Your Dog

    Living in Shizuoka, I stayed at Konparu with my grandchildren visiting from Tokyo and our beloved dog. The kitchen is well equipped for simple self-catering, so it feels like a private rental villa. The Facility was clean and well stocked with amenities. Breakfast was delicious, the women in charge were pleasant, and the front desk staff were kind. The Onsen Facility about a 500 m walk away was also great. We said we’d like to stay in a different Room next time.

    Stay in a non-touristy area.

    Building an Accommodation wing in a residential area and offering a stay that feels like “living there” is a fresh concept for both seasoned travelers and local residents. I hope it continues to succeed. It’s also convenient that you provide a Shuttle Service to the Onsen Facility and the alleyway area, especially as taxis seem to be less available. On the day of our stay it was raining, and we tried to have a taxi called so we could go out for dinner, but none could be arranged due to high demand, so we were taken by tuk-tuk instead. We appreciated that, but I think it’s important to build ongoing relationships with taxi companies so guests can secure rides more reliably when they request them. On our way back, the restaurant was able to arrange one immediately. Not only in rural areas, transportation is becoming harder to secure, and figuring out what to do at destinations is increasingly a concern. Using QR codes for Facility information may suit today’s times, but at minimum it would help if you showed guests where the entrance light switch is during check-in. Alternatively, having it turn on automatically when it gets dark would be worth considering. Also, since there is no light in the closet, we needed our phone flashlight when using the safe. It’s not essential, but small inconveniences can affect impressions of an Accommodation. In that sense, I also noticed minor details such as getting wet while unlocking the door because the eaves are short, and having limited space between the noren curtain and the door making it difficult to unlock smoothly. If the weather had been clear, these points likely wouldn’t have stood out as much. Breakfast was delicious with locally sourced ingredients. It seems you are developing nearby shops as well, so I hope Italian or Chinese chefs will open restaurants close by where guests can enjoy dinner.

    Satisfaction

    We stayed with our family of four and one dog. Initially, we thought the dinner featuring dried fish might be a bit simple, but we were impressed by how delicious it was. We even bought some as souvenirs on our way back, which delighted those we gave them to. The room was clean and very satisfying, and the staff's hospitality was excellent. We would love to stay again. However, having to bring or go out to buy alcohol felt a bit inconvenient.

    Stay with your dog in a highly satisfying area! However, there are three points that need improvement.

    Mochimune was a place I had never heard of before as someone living in the Kanto region. However, blessed with good weather, the sea was beautiful, there were various shops ranging from local to urban styles, an onsen facility was available, and it turned out to be a very lovely destination. Nearby attractions like Nihondaira and Kunozan Toshogu Shrine added to the experience. In Numazu, our stopover point, we enjoyed Senbon Matsubara and gourmet food/shopping around Numazu Port. To top it off, we had eel in Mishima—and everywhere offered stunning views of Mt. Fuji! It’s truly a high-satisfaction area. Being able to stay there with our dog was incredibly appreciated (as Japan is still behind when it comes to being dog-friendly). The indulgent luxury plan included delicious grilled dried fish and meat for dinner as well as a satisfying breakfast prepared by the hospitable host mother. We stayed at Tsukishiro's building because we brought our dog: (1) The dining area with an irori (sunken hearth) was extremely cold; even setting the heater at its maximum temperature of 31°C didn’t help much, and my companion caught a cold. Initially, we planned to stay at Konparu's building but switched to Tsukishiro thinking that "the courtyard (with shichirin)" would be exposed to outside air—now I wonder which would have been less cold... (2) Since I didn’t want to leave my dog alone in the room; wanted alcohol during dinner; and didn’t feel like going outside due to seasonal weather conditions—I wished for meals (both breakfast and dinner) served in-room without having to cook myself while traveling. However, meal-inclusive plans reportedly use identical ingredients for multiple night stays. After prior communication with staff regarding this issue though—on the second night—we were introduced delivery sushi options which worked fine! Still—it’d be helpful if information about available delivery restaurants could also appear on your website. (3) For multiple night stays—it wasn’t possible selecting meal-inclusive plans consecutively; instead requiring separate reservations per night combining different plans—a hassle indeed! Additionally—for such stays only no-cleaning options are allowed (though rates are discounted accordingly). Yet some guests may prefer cleaning services too… My skin became severely dry due indoor air dryness noticed only upon checkout seeing humidifier refill lamp lit up late-stage regretfully wondering whether regular cleaning might’ve prevented worsening discomfort altogether?

    We stayed at Chigusa...

    We stayed at Chigusa as a family of four. The meat, vegetables, and dried fish prepared for the irori were in such generous portions that we couldn't finish them all and were very satisfied. Being an old-style house, it wasn't perfectly insulated, but there was a gas heater and even a heater in the washroom to keep our feet warm, making it very cozy. Mochimune Minato Onsen was quite crowded before dinner, and there was an entry limit in place. We received a numbered ticket and waited for a while. The Onsen is within walking distance, but since it was mid-winter and we were concerned about getting cold after bathing, we drove there instead. It would be nice to walk during spring or summer. The bath in the room had limited water flow, so it took some time to fill up. Considering it was reasonably priced for New Year's season with great overall value for money, we would love to stay here again if given the chance!

    The bathroom had an unbearable odor, and I couldn't use it even once.

    A few years ago, I had a great experience here, so I decided to revisit. However, I will not be returning to this accommodation or the area of Mochimune in the future. ① Upon opening the bathroom door, there was an unbearable stench that caused nausea. It was a strong odor unlike anything I've ever experienced before—completely unacceptable for an accommodation. During our stay, no one could use the bathroom. When I called the front desk about it, they responded with: "Yes, we understand—it might be sewage? There’s a free onsen facility nearby that you can use." Are you seriously aware of this and leaving it unresolved? Moreover, since we were traveling with a dog and had specific circumstances, driving somewhere else just to use an onsen wasn’t feasible for everyone. ② Due to the number of beds available, we slept on futons laid out on tatami mats. However, during the night I experienced severe itching and couldn’t sleep at all. After returning home and looking in the mirror, I noticed rashes on my face and arms—clearly caused by mites or something similar. Even after several days passed, it didn’t heal completely. Being bitten like this during this season is terrible; therefore I called the facility again. The manager admitted: "The smell in the bathroom was indeed terrible due to insufficient cleaning efforts; however repairs (or maintenance?) will be done after New Year’s as it's currently year-end." Regarding mites: "We take preventive measures but cannot confirm any such issue occurred." This experience has tarnished my impression not only of this accommodation but also of Mochimune itself. It makes me question why anyone would pay money to stay somewhere without proper care or consideration for guests' well-being.

    This is my second stay. Last year was Chiharu, and this year was Kurumi. The parking lot in front of the entrance was very convenient. The kitchen connected to the entrance was spacious, and I thoroughly enjoyed the irori (traditional Japanese hearth). The bedroom and the Japanese-style room with a projector were incredibly comfortable. It would be nice to have a few more dishes available.

    The hearth is amazing!

    We had an amazing day at this traditional Japanese house with its great atmosphere, relaxing bath, and proximity to the sea. Next time, we’d love to stay in a different themed building!

    The meals were delicious and the stay was comfortable, but we have a few requests.

    The accommodation has a charming atmosphere, and the reception staff were wonderful. The charcoal-grilled dried fish for dinner and the breakfast were both delicious and satisfying. However, the extra bed was unstable as its legs were not properly set up. Additionally, while grilling meat and fish with charcoal brought to us by the staff, they mentioned turning on the ventilation fan but left without ensuring it was functioning. As a result, smoke filled the room, leaving our clothes and hair smelling strongly of food. Upon checking again after calling for assistance, we found that the main power switch for the fan had not been turned on—a surprising oversight given how crucial ventilation is when using a grill indoors. The entire room ended up filled with smoke and fish odor. For bathing, guests can visit a nearby onsen without needing to bring anything along. The amenities provided are thoughtful and stylish. We were excited about visiting as there is also a craft beer brewery nearby; however, children still in diapers are not allowed even in the washing area of this onsen facility. Since it’s located 10 minutes away from the accommodation by car, we had no choice but to take turns bathing quickly while waiting outside with our child—an inconvenience that could have been avoided if this information had been shared at reception beforehand. Back at our accommodation's private bath featuring a beautiful hinoki wood tub paired with what seemed like foreign-made stylish fixtures—it was lovely but somewhat difficult to use due to unclear instructions or small labels that weren’t visible in dim lighting conditions. Meals are self-prepared using shichirin grills provided at each table—a fun experience! Local vegetables like shiitake mushrooms stood out as particularly plump & flavorful alongside perfectly grilled dried fish dishes cooked over charcoal flames; however unfortunately most meats offered consisted mainly fatty cuts such white kalbi beef slices which felt heavy leading us leave behind leftovers despite enjoying other parts meal thoroughly . Including leaner options would help balance portions better especially male diners who may find current selection insufficient overall . Breakfast prepared lovingly local mothers absolutely exceptional featuring comforting dishes such lion soup simmered eggplant seasoned dashi broth among others truly heartwarming flavors enjoyed start day right . While operational details facilities might accessible via QR code digital guides , having printed materials available ensure clarity usability especially older guests unfamiliar technology navigating modern designs sometimes overly sleek detracts practical functionality otherwise fantastic stay !

    I would like to stay again.

    The Kurumi building, where we stayed, seems to have been built later and is located slightly away from the shop area with the reception. We were looking forward to riding a tuk-tuk, but since the locations of "Reception" === "Accommodation" === "Minato Onsen" are close together, there was no need to use it. (As we traveled by car, we also did not use the shuttle service to Mochimune Station.) Highlights: - Although it's a renovated traditional house, it’s perfectly modernized and stylishly clean. - The irori (traditional Japanese hearth) was fantastic. - Unlimited access to the onsen. - Received an onsen ticket for one additional entry after checkout on the same day. - Fishing is possible from sandy beaches or rocky areas nearby. - BBQs and fireworks can be enjoyed at the beach. - Stylish and delicious breakfast provided. - A nearby ice cream shop serves tasty treats. - Amenities are well-stocked. Points of concern: - Footsteps from upstairs echo loudly downstairs. - The road is narrow; parking can be tricky if approaching with a large vehicle from the seaside direction (easier when coming from the opposite side). - Being a whole-house rental makes it slightly pricey. - Despite its spaciousness that could accommodate many people, there’s a limit on maximum occupancy. - Nearby stylish shopping areas close quite early in walking distance. - Reception isn’t available 24/7 & may be unattended when tuk-tuks are in operation. About 5–10 minutes by car is Tagojyu Supermarket—a large local store offering high-quality deli items like sushi, fish, vegetables & alcohol sourced locally! It’s not an upscale supermarket but rather one frequented daily by locals themselves! If time permits—shop here grill fresh fish over shichirin/irori slow down enjoy relaxed moments! Note: This year due poor catch fresh-caught shirasu specialty unavailable however Sakura shrimp Yui port harvested usual amounts

    It was excellent.

    We stayed at Amber and Chigusa accommodations with a total of 11 family members, including relatives returning temporarily from France and Japanese relatives. First, we informed the staff in advance about our large group and shared our requests over the phone. The staff member who assisted us was incredibly kind, which we greatly appreciated. The one-building rental accommodation was simply excellent. Amber, which accommodates up to 8 people, had two sinks and two toilets, along with a bathroom and an additional shower room. Despite the large group, it was extremely convenient to use without any issues. For dinner, ingredients were provided in the refrigerator for us to cook ourselves. The selection of meat, fish, and vegetables was more than sufficient. For breakfast, several staff members came to prepare freshly grilled fish and colorful side dishes for us—an impressive level of service quality that truly surprised us. Three people stayed at Chigusa accommodation; it was also very spacious with comfortable rooms. Overall cleanliness throughout both accommodations left us completely satisfied. We are truly grateful for everything you did for us! We would love to stay here again in the future!

    A perfect location for ocean lovers.

    This was our second stay. We stayed in the same accommodation, "Konparu," as a family of three: my spouse, myself, and our beloved dog. Unfortunately, we arrived later than planned, and nearby shops were about to close, so we couldn't use them. The room was generally comfortable; however, I have two suggestions: 1) Adding even a simple blind to the small window next to the 1F kitchen would enhance privacy. 2) There is a faucet near the entrance for washing pets' feet (?), but it doesn't have a hose attached. Adding a hose would make it more practical and useful.

    It was wonderful.

    Regarding the bath, there is a nearby Onsen called Mochimune Minato Onsen. Guests can use it, including towel rental. This Onsen is also highly rated. It was good. We were very satisfied with the atmosphere and meals. The dried fish eaten at the irori was also satisfying for the children. It was good with a Japanese cuisine base. We would like to repeat our stay.

    It was a traditional Japanese house that exceeded expectations.

    We used the breakfast-only Plan to celebrate a friend's couple's 60th birthday, bringing along our dog. Expecting the traditional house from the photos, we were pleasantly surprised by how spacious and clean it was, and everyone was delighted. The old-fashioned atmosphere, being able to walk from the entrance to the kitchen with shoes on, and many new experiences made it enjoyable. Since we brought our own food for the night, the large refrigerator and spacious kitchen, along with the rice cooker and various utensils, made meal preparation smooth. The bath was a large hinoki bath, but my husband mentioned that the water took a while to fill up. I used the Onsen, but it was a bit of a walk. It was a little scary at night due to the lack of streetlights. I later thought it would have been better to use the available bicycle rental. Since the neighboring house is close, it's probably best to keep the noise down. In the morning, the staff prepared a hot meal in the kitchen. The various local side dishes were very delicious. The staff's service was polite and easy to understand. If I had to say, the road was narrow, so we couldn't park the car in front, and the reception location was different from the address on the site, so we wandered around and had to ask locals to find it. I hope this can be corrected. It was a fun two days. Next time, I would like to try a different Stays. Thank you very much.

    Family trip with a dog

    The stay was clean! It was a room for dogs, but there was no smell and I was able to spend my time comfortably. The room's bath was also clean. However, since it is not an onsen, you have to go to the related onsen facility, but it is a bit far to walk. Since it was a holiday, the onsen facility was quite crowded, so honestly, I might not recommend it.

    Enjoy an extraordinary experience as if living there

    The room we stayed in with our beloved dog was "Gesshaku." We are very fond of this cozy and convenient old house. Staying in this fishing town, which has just the right amount of lived-in feel, is our favorite destination to enjoy "doing nothing." The warm hospitality of the staff and the unique shops scattered nearby... We use it with the feeling of returning home. Thank you always!

    An inn that evokes nostalgia

    We stayed with four people and two dogs (Golden Retrievers) on the first day of a three-day weekend. The room, a renovated old house, was not new but had a nostalgic and calming atmosphere. At check-in, we were informed about the streets of Mochimune, borrowed bicycles from the inn, relaxed in the hot springs at Mochimune Minato Onsen, and, using the website as a reference, purchased fresh ingredients at recommended stores in Mochimune for dinner, allowing us to have a wonderful time. The next morning, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast in our room made with local ingredients. If we have another opportunity, we would love to stay again with our beloved dogs.
