  Perfect for fans of traditional Japanese homes!

  This was my first time staying here. From the very courteous email communication, I had a great impression right away. Check-in was easy, and it’s done at the shop on-site! They even offer a complimentary “shime parfait” at night! I went after dinner. There wasn’t a frying pan in the kitchen, so I went to the front desk (?) to ask, and they kindly lent me one. The hinoki scent in the bath was absolutely wonderful. The size was just right—and even though it was only one night, I used it four times. The location is a bit hard to find, but that’s part of the charm of this traditional house, and the interior is clean as well! I’ll definitely be coming back someday!

  Feel at home, like you’re living here.

  This machiya is tucked away in a quiet spot. The interior was very clean, the cypress bath smelled wonderful, and the bus access was convenient—making for an enjoyable stay.

  I was very satisfied.

  The room exceeded its price. It was clean, quiet, and very satisfying. I would like to stay here again when I visit Kyoto.
