    History and the Present

    Staying in this renovated historic building was a truly unique experience that we don’t usually get to have. The thoughtful touches were wonderful, and the staff spoke to us kindly and warmly. Breakfast was also very delicious.

    A wonderful Accommodation with a sophisticated, adult atmosphere.

    The old storehouse has been beautifully renovated and has a wonderful atmosphere. It’s a maisonette-style Room: on the first floor you can relax with a book or enjoy tea while looking out at the garden, making for a very comfortable stay. The bedroom area on the second floor is also very spacious and comfortable. The bath is excellent as well—overall, everything is very comfortable. The hosts are warm and welcoming, which leaves a great impression. Breakfast is colorful and delicious, and beautifully presented. That said, since this Room makes use of an old storehouse, some things are unavoidable… The building is divided into two Rooms (imagine it split into right and left), with one group staying in each per day—two groups total. Each has its own private entrance, so you rarely run into other guests. However, because it was originally one wooden structure split in two, noise from next door can be quite noticeable. That said, you can hardly hear voices or TV sounds; in that sense the soundproofing is good and not an issue. But because both spaces share the same old structure (including beams), sounds like footsteps, opening and closing doors, and going up and down the stairs travel through the wood and walls very clearly. In our case, it may have been because our neighbors that day were traveling with two children… Even when we were relaxing in this lovely Room—or sleeping in the morning—we could feel heavy thumping noises coming through, which was honestly tough… If you happen to have quiet neighbors who are considerate of others’ comfort, this Accommodation is otherwise outstanding—so it may come down to luck. We travel around Uchiko, Tobe, and Ozu every year and would like to consider staying again next year as well—but this point does concern us somewhat.

    Family Trip

    I was really looking forward to staying here after hearing it was an Accommodation renovated from a traditional storehouse, and it exceeded my expectations—it was truly wonderful. Inside, we could fully enjoy the charm of a good old Japanese home, and the bedroom had a cozy mountain-lodge feel that made us excited. The tableware, such as the teacups and coffee cups, also matched the atmosphere and was lovely. The bath—perhaps a hinoki cypress bath—was large and spacious, and we were able to relax completely. Thank you for recommending great places for dinner as well. Also, the breakfast we had at the Accommodation was very stylish and incredibly delicious. This trip was a visit back to my parents’ hometown area, and it became a truly wonderful memory—our whole family was very satisfied. Thank you very much. Next time, I’d like to come stay with friends.
