    Good value for money, and could be improved further with a few tweaks.

    I have stayed at Shinwaen several times, and this time I visited this new Accommodation. As with Shinwaen, my overall impression is that there are many great points, but some small details feel a bit rough, which is a shame. First, the Onsen water at Shinwaen’s “Aoyu” has more impact, but “Umine-no-Yu” still feels like a proper Onsen and is more than enjoyable—having both is wonderful. What was disappointing here is that there is no Shuttle Service to the large public bath. There are clearly times when both the carts and staff seem available, so I think it would work well to operate a limited service—for example 15:30–17:00 and 20:00–22:00—running between the front desk and the bath every 10 minutes or so. Next, regarding the lounge free drinks: there is also a decent selection of snacks, so it’s enjoyable. The downside is that there is no tea or milk. Having just those two would significantly improve satisfaction. Dinner is a very tasty buffet for its price range, but the one steak per person only comes as fatty cuts. Satisfaction would rise dramatically if you offered filet—or ideally smaller portions of hanger steak or similar leaner cuts. Also, hardly anyone eats the sushi; reducing it to cut costs and upgrading other items would be better. Shinwaen’s pudding is excellent; while small portions were available at the buffet, you should promote it more prominently. That should also help sell more souvenirs. Some items like eggplant dishes and nuta (vinegared miso dressing) are delicious too but easy to miss—please make them stand out more. Breakfast focuses on omelets or fried eggs as the main item, but aside from ryukyu-style marinated fish (ryukyu), nothing really stands out. In that case, why not serve freshly fried toriten? I think that alone could become a signature dish. As for the Room: there are far too few places to hang towels. Adding towel hooks would help greatly. Also, despite being a Room with a private pool, there’s no way to dry swimsuits; at minimum, I’d like guests to be allowed to use the swimsuit spin dryer by the shared pool area. Another disappointment is that although the Room itself is very spacious, there isn’t an indoor reclining chair—only chairs outside under direct sun. Overall this Accommodation has truly excellent potential in terms of what it offers inside, but it feels like attention to detail isn’t quite enough yet. Still, everyone was kind and welcoming and the Onsen was wonderful as well, so I expect I will visit again. Wishing you all continued success.

    A Long-Awaited Trip

    I decided to visit a Ryokan in Beppu again after a long time and stayed at Annex Umine. I had booked a plan with meals, but I arrived too late for dinner and couldn’t eat it. Even so, the staff were very courteous and kindly recommended nearby places to dine. The Room was clean, and it was great to be able to enjoy the sauna and Onsen without worrying about the time. Next time, I’d like to arrive earlier and relax and enjoy everything to the fullest.

    We were extremely satisfied!

    My first time in Beppu Onsen. Everyone provided courteous service, and I was completely satisfied with all the Onsen facilities. If I had to mention one thing, as an older man I couldn’t figure out how to use the hair dryer. All the meals were delicious, but I would have been happy if there were a few more Kyushu-style dishes. If I have a chance to visit Beppu again, I’d like to stay here again. Thank you very much.

    Wonderful

    It was my first time staying here, and it was wonderful. The buffet selection felt a little limited, but I was very satisfied thanks to the staff’s outstanding hospitality. I would definitely like to stay again soon.

    It exceeded my expectations.

    I used to look down on all-inclusive stays, but this was better than I expected. They quickly noticed and cleared used dishes, so we could enjoy our meals comfortably. The staff were very attentive. There was a great variety of complimentary drinks and snacks, and we really enjoyed being able to take them back to our Room. Thank you for upgrading our Room. We ran around like kids. All the staff seemed to enjoy their work, which naturally made us smile too. We also enjoyed being taken to our Room by a golf-cart-style Shuttle Service. One thing I noticed was that the dish-room door might hit the kitchen counter and could get damaged. Our friends were amazed that a place like this exists. They said they want to stay here too. We’d love to stay again soon—summer was so popular that it was fully booked with Reservations. We’d like to stay again and enjoy it even more.

    Staff coordination via intercom

    At dinner, the staff shared information about which table had ordered steak. They even brought it to our seat without us having to say anything. They listened carefully to what we said and provided proactive service ahead of our needs, which truly impressed us. It may not be fair to compare, but it was the first time since staying on the Ritz-Carlton Club Floor that we felt this level of hospitality. We were also delighted by the high quality of the Facility—such as the number and size of hair dryers, mirrors, and TVs—as well as the spaciousness and even a private sauna in our Room. When we left, after handing our key to the front desk, a staff member operated the self-checkout machine on behalf of guests. It wasn’t crowded, but we were surprised by their quick and attentive support. They also saw us off properly. Finally, one member of our group had recently undergone heart surgery, and they arranged a nearby Room for us. Thanks to that, this was an extremely comfortable trip. Thank you very much to all the staff.

    Thank you for the wonderful hospitality and for upgrading our Room. Although the weather was unfortunately rainy, we were able to stay very comfortably. We would like to stay here again when we visit Beppu.

    I’d love to stay here again.

    The Room had an Onsen (indoor bath, open-air bath, and sauna), and the bathtub was spacious, which was great! It was all-inclusive. We were told we could take drinks and such back to the Room, but the containers were small and limited how much we could carry, so I’d appreciate it if they could make it easier to transport. (Even convenience-store coffee comes with a paper cup holder.) Smoking was allowed on the Room terrace, but there is no smoking room near the dining area, which disappointed my partner. It may not be very smoker-friendly. Late at night, I couldn’t sleep because of loud running noises on the terrace—possibly from the neighboring Room. The food was delicious, there was a decent variety of drinks, and the baths were great!

    Three of us stayed here to celebrate a friend’s birthday. We had read various Reviews, and it seemed that all the issues mentioned had been improved. They also upgraded our Room, which helped make it a wonderful memory. We would love to stay again.

    The Room was quite nice for the price, but the value for money in terms of the rate, meals, and service was not very good. I love Beppu’s hot spring water quality, so it was disappointing.

    There’s still a long way to go.

    The staff were welcoming and made even foreign guests feel comfortable. Although the property is new, noticeable stains and dirt made the choice of materials and overall layout feel disappointing. It lacked thoughtful details—such as proper privacy screening—and the layout caused footwear to hit the door, giving an impression of cost-cut, superficial interior design. The Shuttle Service between the front building and the Room also had a severe step over a drainage channel; even though the driver carefully slowed down to get over it, it still highlighted rough planning and construction. It felt unfortunate that service staff were having to make up for these shortcomings.

    I visited this newly...

    I visited this newly opened place at Christmas. There were relatively many younger guests. We chose the plan with abalone and steak, but there was so much food that we didn’t really need the add-ons. It was disappointing that the abalone was tough. Drinks and ordered food were self-service, so we had to go and pick them up ourselves. The Room only had water, and while drinks are free at the front desk, it’s far enough away that you need to use a cart, so I would have liked some drinks stocked in the Room refrigerator. Since it was cold, it was disappointing not to be able to go get them easily. The Room was clean, and it even had a hair iron (ReFa), which helped because I didn’t have to bring mine.

    Second Stay

    Thank you for your stay on the 11th and 12th, following your visit in November. This time, as there were no two-person rooms available, we reserved a three-person room. On the day of arrival, the staff kindly upgraded our room to the best one available. The meals were as delicious as last time. The staff's kind and attentive service was also just as excellent as before. The room was truly wonderful. It was during a cold wave, so only the sauna was a bit disappointing. We look forward to visiting again!

    I had a relaxing stay.

    I was unexpectedly upgraded to the highest-grade room, which made my stay very comfortable. While the service might not fully meet the expectations of a luxury ryokan's hospitality, I personally enjoyed a casual and relaxed stay. However, considering the accommodation cost, I would have hoped for more refined service. It was great that drinks (including alcohol) from the lounge were available during meals. Since everything except for the main dinner dish was buffet-style, I could enjoy food and drinks at my own pace. As for the sauna in the room, it didn’t get as hot as expected based on reviews. Being a low-temperature sauna and considering it was winter, the temperature only reached 50°C. The floor felt slightly cold, so I gave up using it as a proper sauna. I stayed for two nights, and since cleaning is generally not provided during multiple night stays unless requested, I spent time relaxing in my room without going out much. Thanks to this experience, I feel like it turned out to be a wonderful trip overall!

    The air conditioner ...

    The air conditioner was noisy (not normal operating noise, but more like plastic rattling), and I couldn’t sleep well. Turning it off made the room too cold, and I considered using the other unit, but there was a buildup of dust on top of the closet under it, so I didn’t want to use it.

    Thank you for taking care of us the other day. We enjoyed the welcome drinks, with a great selection from soft drinks to alcohol! The snacks and ice cream were also delicious! I was surprised that we were allowed to take them with us until we left. Unfortunately, there was no explanation about using the Onsen in the main building, and by the time I realized it, it was already checkout time, which was disappointing... There was also dried waste stuck to the inside of the toilet seat, so I wiped it off with wet tissues and disinfected it with alcohol... I also noticed hair on the floor, so I would like you to be more careful with cleaning. Overall, we were satisfied with the service attitude and Facility.

    A private accommodat...

    A private accommodation rental. The property includes an indoor bath, open-air bath (with a sauna and a pool available in summer), but there is no large public bath as part of the accommodation. Meals are served buffet-style in the main building. Located on a hill, the view of Beppu Bay from the private open-air baths or while walking to the main building is breathtaking—worth enjoying with a drink. The open-air bath in the room is spacious, and on the first night, its temperature was comfortable. However, by the next morning, the water temperature had dropped and did not feel like Onsen water anymore. While you can use both indoor and outdoor baths, their temperatures were lower than expected compared to yesterday. Both baths have spouts for water flow; however, it feels disappointing to dilute natural hot spring water when visiting Beppu. As someone coming from Tohoku with admiration for Beppu Onsen—especially Kannawa Onsen—it was unfortunately underwhelming.

    The Perfect Anniversary Getaway

    We stayed here for a birthday trip. We made a Reservation because we wanted to relax and enjoy the Onsen in our Room 24 hours a day. On the day of our stay, we received a complimentary Room upgrade, and we truly enjoyed the spacious Room. The furniture and decor were luxurious and elegant, and we left feeling refreshed in both body and mind. With the all-inclusive plan, we were able to fully enjoy everything from sweets to alcohol without worrying about the cost. Dinner was a half-buffet, and the steak was exceptional—we were very satisfied. It was great that we could order small portions of items like tempura and enjoy a variety of dishes. The restaurant is spacious, so we didn’t notice neighboring tables at all. The view was amazing, and the sunrise looked especially beautiful. We travel every month, but this was one of our most memorable recent trips. I highly recommend this newly opened Accommodation Umine in Beppu. Thank you for creating such a wonderful Accommodation in Beppu! Thank you to all the Hotel staff for your warm hospitality. We’ve added it to our favorite Accommodations list.     Overall satisfied.

    We stayed here on the first night of our long-awaited trip to Kyushu. Although we were initially a bit uncertain due to the limited number of reviews for this newly opened accommodation, we decided to stay because of the very attractive opening commemorative plan that included an onsen sauna. We are grateful for being upgraded to a better room than what we had reserved. The room was spacious and comfortable, almost too large for two people. While our villa was located further from the front desk and dining area, making movement slightly inconvenient, it offered great views which made up for it. The main dishes—steak and abalone—were absolutely delicious. As for the half-buffet options, they were decent but not exceptional. However, with all-inclusive drinks and such an affordable price point, we found the overall lineup more than satisfactory. On a negative note, as others have mentioned in their reviews, there seemed to be an issue with drainage in the indoor bath as there was a noticeable sewage smell. We opted not to use the indoor bath at all and only took quick showers instead. If this issue is resolved in the future, although it's far from where we live and frequent visits may be difficult, we'd love to return again someday. Thank you very much for your hospitality!

    Stayed for one night on the 23rd and 24th. The indoor bath was too hot... However, the open-air bath allowed me to relax. The room was clean, as expected from a new accommodation. Since I work in construction, I noticed some details here and there... The meals were buffet-style and delicious. Unlimited alcohol, snacks, and ice cream were a nice touch. I had read reviews about the sauna beforehand, so preheating it was the right choice. Having stayed twice at your sister accommodation Kaminoen before, I found the staff's service to be just as kind and attentive as ever. This is an accommodation I'd like to visit again!

    The view is disappointing.

    I stayed at a newly built cottage with high expectations, but despite its location on a hill, there was no view at all—only the neighboring cottage was visible. I stayed in the Standard Villa, and if the view is poor, it should be mentioned on the website. Additionally, boiling water overflowed from the open-air bath in the room; perhaps due to poor design or drainage issues, it felt unsafe as I almost burned my feet. The neighboring cottage had a clear view into mine, so I had to keep the curtains closed at all times. Overall, I was very dissatisfied and will not return.

    This is a critical review. Although our Room was upgraded, the disappointment in service and meals outweighed it, making this trip regrettable. While I understand the all-inclusive concept, carrying drinks back from the lounge is inconvenient. Navigating such steep slopes is not only troublesome but also dangerous. The lack of amenities and pajamas in the Room, requiring guests to pick them up from a corner near reception, seems questionable. While having size options is good, this should be an optional service for those who prefer it. Additionally, adjusting the bath temperature was challenging as it was set at 80 degrees Celsius. The sauna also failed to reach high temperatures, so we decided not to use it. As for meals during breakfast and dinner buffets—aside from steaks cooked upon order—there wasn’t much that stood out in terms of taste or quality. Lastly... While foreign staff members were friendly and welcoming with their smiles, Japanese staff appeared less approachable by comparison. It might be beneficial for them to learn from their foreign colleagues' hospitality skills. On the second day when heavy rain hit unexpectedly—there were no umbrellas provided in our Room. Since we stayed close enough to reception yet hesitated calling for a shuttle cart—we ended up using my car instead—to Shuttle Service family members over towards restaurant building ourselves!

    It was a pleasant stay!

    I had a pleasant stay as my goal was to relax at the Hotel. The large public bath is located in a different Hotel within the group, and while there was no Shuttle Service, I was quickly taken there by cart, possibly because it was a weekday. Being on high ground, the view from the large public bath was spectacular. The lounge offered snacks and drinks that could also be taken back to your Room. My Room even had a sauna, making for an enjoyable and fulfilling stay.

    A bit more professionalism would be appreciated.

    At check-in, a foreign staff member explained things to me, but when I asked about the written content, they said they didn’t understand because they were a foreigner. In customer service, isn’t it standard to say “I’ll find out if I don’t know”? When I entered the Room, there was long hair in the toilet and on the bath towel. If this is considered acceptable, then so be it; however, this seems like one of the most common complaints. That said, the view was excellent. The night sky around 2 AM was breathtakingly beautiful like a planetarium. The meals were also delicious—meat, abalone, tempura, sushi, and other dishes were all enjoyable. Breakfast was great as well. The all-you-can-drink alcohol and soft drinks during dinner and breakfast were also appreciated. Since it hasn’t been long since your opening day, I look forward to seeing improvements in the future. Thank you for taking care of us over these two days!

    We stayed one night ...

    We stayed one night at the suite villa with our children and grandchildren. The grandchildren had a blast in the pool, while the parents enjoyed swimming with them, relaxing in the Onsen, sauna, and cold bath. The living room's floor-to-ceiling glass allowed us to enjoy the view outside while relaxing—absolutely perfect. The meals were incredibly satisfying in both taste and variety. In addition to table seating, there was a slightly lower counter with sofas where you could enjoy your meal while taking in the scenery—our newlywed son seemed to love it. Amenities were well-stocked, and the Room had ReFa hair dryers and irons available; next time, I plan to come empty-handed! Service was excellent—the staff greeted us warmly and even interacted kindly with our grandchildren. We hope to stay here again someday!

    Honestly, it was disappointing.

    We stayed in a suite villa with a pool this time. We were looking forward to it as we heard it was a newly built accommodation, but honestly, it was disappointing. First of all, despite being a new building, the construction defects were severe. The moment we entered the entrance, there was an unusual smell—likely coming from the toilet near the entrance. When flushing the toilet, air bubbled up from the handwashing pipe, suggesting that sewer air was backflowing. Additionally, water seeped out from under the toilet bowl and flooded the floor. It seems they rushed construction to meet their opening deadline, which immediately ruined our mood... The sink and indoor bath also had an even stronger odor that made relaxing in the bath impossible. In fact, I only used the outdoor bath because staying inside felt like it could make me unwell. The shower water pressure was also very low; thus I had to spend more time in this smelly indoor bathroom just to wash myself properly. Overall, plumbing work throughout seemed terrible as every pipe emitted unpleasant odors—a bizarre situation indeed. Judging by similar reviews left by others online about other rooms too—it’s likely not just limited to ours. As for amenities: I looked forward to using their sauna but found its temperature barely reached 75°C at best! What puzzled me most though is how heating takes three hours according instructions provided yet timers max-out after merely 90 minutes requiring constant resets during usage periods! Regarding privacy concerns outdoors—the open-air area remains visible entirely exposed upper-level neighboring accommodations above leaving much desired improvement here design-wise. While advertised "all-inclusive," drinks inconveniently located solely distant main building forcing guests trek retrieve beverages repeatedly themselves instead conveniently accessible nearby within room vicinity especially alcoholic options served via dispensers making transport impractical altogether unless prepackaged alternatives such canned beer/highballs stocked directly available locally minibar inclusion would've solved issue allowing relaxed enjoyment privately indoors otherwise necessitating external purchases convenience stores instead detracting overall experience significantly detracts value proposition offered package deal marketed initially appealing conceptually execution falls short expectations ultimately unsatisfactory delivery reality encountered firsthand     I stayed at "Annex Umine" and experienced a sense of openness like a private resort, enjoying a quiet and luxurious time. The room was very spacious, impeccably clean, and provided a relaxing atmosphere wherever I was. The private onsen open-air bath and sauna in the room were especially amazing. Being able to enjoy them anytime as much as I wanted was the ultimate luxury! The sauna had just the right temperature and size, offering a completely private space to unwind. Another delightful feature was the complimentary snacks and drinks available at the front desk. Accessible anytime, it was perfect for taking a break or enjoying after a bath while savoring some peaceful moments. I truly appreciated their thoughtful hospitality. The meals exceeded my expectations. Dinner included an array of delicious options such as wagyu steak, abalone, sushi, and more in an extensive buffet. Breakfast also offered plenty of choices with healthy Japanese dishes that were comforting. Overall, the service was attentive and pleasant—truly an "accommodation for relaxation." This time I visited during summer but would love to return in another season!
