    Enjoy Onsen in Style

    I wasn’t sure whether to stay at an Onsen Ryokan in Nagato Yumoto Onsen, but this time I chose this condominium-style Room. There are no windows, and as soon as you open the door you’ll find four beds right there. However, when you get off the elevator on the floor, there are shared toilets, a washroom area, shower rooms, and a lounge (two tatami-mat areas and three sofas). There is also a simple kitchen (with a microwave, refrigerator, kettle, etc.). The refrigerator is large and the freezer works well too, which was very helpful. Amenities were well provided and there were no particular issues. For bathing, you can enjoy unlimited access to Onto Onsen. You do need to go outside briefly, but you can go in indoor wear and sandals—it feels like a short walk if you think of it as being part of a large Ryokan or Hotel. The large bath towels were fluffy and felt great. We didn’t use the top-floor sauna, but my family said the facilities such as the wash area were well equipped and very pleasant. The Hotel restaurant serves Italian food and everything looked delicious (pizza in particular), but we wanted local cuisine this time so we visited nearby Kawara Soba Yanagiya for a simple dinner. Breakfast was included with our stay: a morning set with focaccia at the restaurant on the first floor of the Hotel. The portion was just right and it was tasty. This is an Accommodation where you can enjoy many different travel styles. When it started raining they immediately lent us an umbrella from the Accommodation, and although many of the staff were young, their service was polite and attentive. Thank you very much.

    A highly satisfying stay at a design Hotel!

    I chose this Hotel because I like the SOIL brand, and it was an even better stay than I expected! I really loved the exterior that blends into the scenery of the Nagato Yumoto area, and the interior design that seems to value natural colors. The staff kept a comfortable level of distance, and I also enjoyed dinner at the restaurant. The sauna on the top floor had just the right humidity, so it didn’t feel too intense even when staying in longer than usual despite the temperature. Relaxing while listening to higurashi cicadas may end up being this summer’s highlight!

    A Modern Hot Spring Retreat

    I stayed here to enjoy a relaxing Onsen getaway close to home. The Hotel has been simply yet tastefully renovated throughout, and you can really feel the attention to detail. Since there is no TV in the Room, I thought it would be nice to have a speaker. For bathing, you walk about 10 seconds to Onyu, and the water was silky-smooth—I went in again and again. I had both dinner and breakfast at TARU on the first floor, and I was satisfied with both the taste and portion sizes. My Room was on the second floor, but unfortunately there were occasional loud impact noises that reverberated through the entire Room and woke me up repeatedly. I wondered if there might be an issue with the plumbing or something similar.

    It was excellent.

    The Room was clean, very spacious, and we had a great time. The Italian dinner was extremely delicious and very satisfying. Breakfast was also tasty and just right. All the staff were kind, pleasant, and made it a wonderful memory for us. Thank you so much. We would love to visit again for a relaxing stay.

    A Relaxing Accommodation with Natural Hot Springs

    This time, I stayed in a dormitory. It was my second time staying in a dormitory in my life, but the bed had ample height and space, making it very comfortable even for men. Although the plan did not include meals, I enjoyed sweets and dinner at the restaurant on the first floor. Every dish was delicious, and the staff provided detailed explanations about the wine. I had a luxurious time in a calm and lovely atmosphere. The staff worked seamlessly together, with everyone warmly welcoming me with smiles throughout my stay, making it an enjoyable experience. During my stay, I also visited "Onto," where I experienced an Onsen that connected me to both the local community and nature. Locals were using it from early morning, and I even ran into other guests from the same accommodation by chance. When I visited around noon, it was completely private at that time—a truly indulgent moment. Although the sauna was unavailable due to mechanical issues, they kindly opened up its space as a work area or provided sauna tickets for nearby Ryokan facilities instead. Their prompt and thoughtful response deeply impressed me. Surrounded by attentive hospitality and a warm atmosphere, this stay became truly rejuvenating for both body and mind. I would love to visit again!

    The Best Summer Memories

    I stayed with three friends over the weekend. The hotel was new, and the staff who welcomed us provided fresh and pleasant service throughout our stay. The sauna we were looking forward to had an ice-cold water bath and a stunning view overlooking the river, which was amazing. We were surprised that the onsen next door was unlimited access as well. The pizza restaurant on the first floor served delicious dishes, and the staff's wine selection was excellent. I would love to visit again with friends during a different season!

    The accommodation had a warm and gentle atmosphere, making it feel like returning to grandma's house during summer vacation. Both breakfast and dinner were incredibly delicious, making me want to try every item on the menu. The staff were pleasant and thoughtful, with many small but wonderful gestures.     Relax with a sauna and Onsen

    After sweating it out in the sauna within the facility, I visited a stylish public bath called "Onto," just a 10-second walk from the hotel, and felt completely refreshed both in body and mind! There is also an activity center where you can enjoy various outdoor activities, which makes me want to visit again. Additionally, the restaurant "TARU" on the first floor of the hotel serves authentic wood-fired pizza that was absolutely delicious! Not only pizza but also wood-fired fish and chocolate desserts were exceptional. Although it's an onsen town, they also offer trendy natural wines, allowing us to enjoy a wonderful dinner experience. The staff were incredibly attentive and kind, making this accommodation one of my favorites—I would love to stay here again!

    A picture-perfect "summer" and an urban-integrated collective Hotel

    I enjoyed a peaceful and enriching time, forgetting the hustle and bustle of daily city life. This accommodation, located in the historic area of Nagato Yumoto Onsen, was not just an "accommodation" but felt like a town itself, gently connecting with the local culture, people, and nature. The first thing that impressed me was the beauty of its architecture and interior design. Natural materials were used abundantly, creating a harmonious atmosphere. The lounge and shared spaces featured subtle displays of works by local artists, adding depth to the space. Upon entering my room, I was greeted by a stunning view through large windows—beautiful rivers and greenery with adults leisurely enjoying themselves in the water. Just sitting by the window reading a book brought me peace of mind. For onsen bathing, I visited nearby Onto Onsen. Since SOIL itself feels like part of the town rather than just an accommodation facility, it felt as natural as using an indoor bath within a hotel. I even had an unexpected encounter with a local elder who visits daily; we ended up chatting for quite some time while soaking in the bath—a unique experience you wouldn’t get at typical hotel baths! After warming up thoroughly to almost feeling lightheaded from relaxation, I headed to the sauna on the top floor for ultimate rejuvenation—it was simply amazing. On the first floor is an Italian restaurant centered around a dynamic wood-fired oven where you can enjoy dishes made from locally sourced ingredients. The seamless connection with town life continued as I explored recommendations such as standing for casual chats over craft beer or visiting cafes offering coffee served in Hagi-yaki pottery—all allowing freedom to enjoy at your own pace. To fully unwind here might require at least two nights. There are also activities like SUP (Stand-Up Paddleboarding) during sunset or cycling trips to nearby temples available—I missed out this time but hope to revisit during autumn along with exploring Akiyoshidai next time!

    Thank you very much for your hospitality. The staff were incredibly polite and kind, offering helpful advice on travel plans and recommending wonderful sightseeing spots, making this trip truly memorable. The guest room was clean, with a view of the river from the window, allowing us to enjoy a peaceful and relaxing time. It was a fantastic stay that helped relieve daily stress. I would love to stay here again in the future.

    Had a wonderful time!

    I stayed in a dormitory this time. When I think of dormitories, I imagine narrow spaces just for sleeping, but the bed was a semi-double and spacious, and the room had plenty of space, making it very comfortable. The shared area in front of the room also offers a relaxing view of the river. The next day, I had lunch, but before that, I spent some time exploring by the river in front of the hotel while waiting. It was an extraordinary experience different from my usual daily life and very enjoyable. The wood-fired pizza for lunch was, of course, delicious! This is a perfect place & accommodation to visit when you're tired from work or your current situation!

    A wonderful opportunity to reflect on yourself while connecting with the outside world!

    It was my first time staying in a dormitory, so I was a bit nervous, but it turned out to be a wonderful experience! The room was very simple, with just a place to sleep and a small desk for light writing, along with a lamp. Although the room was small, its simplicity created such a calming atmosphere that it made me reflect on how cluttered my own home is. It also made me think that living more simply might help me focus better on myself. This space gave me an opportunity for self-reflection, and I decided to reassess my living environment when I return home. When I visited the nearby Onsen called Onto, one of the locals casually said to me, "You can smell the sulfur here," which made me happy and gave me insight into the warmth of this community! Experiences like this are something you can't have at accommodations with Onsen inside their facilities, which made it even more special. The staff seemed genuinely happy working there. While there are many great hotels out there, I feel like it's rare to find one with such wonderful people working in it. Next time, I'd love to try staying in another type of room!
