    Conveniently located...

    Conveniently located near Chinatown, yet quiet. The Room is furnished with tasteful furniture. The food is delicious. I don’t drink alcohol, so I was happy to have a wide selection of non-alcoholic drinks.

    Quiet and Relaxing Accommodation

    I understood the absence of a TV. The accommodation was spacious and clean overall. It was unfortunate that there was no explanation about the amenities. Before checking out, I found where coffee and other items were, so I wish there had been a bit more explanation. The meals were excellent. I felt very full. The meat was slightly tough though. Thank you very much! This is an accommodation I would like to visit again.

    A Hidden Auberge Where Cultures Blend

    Enjoy a one-night, two-day meal-inclusive plan. Upon arrival at Nagasaki Airport, an optional shuttle taxi greets you. The illustrations by Nagaba Yuu lift your spirits. The location is a back alley, heading from Chinatown to the Tojin Yashiki. As you ascend the narrow cobblestone slope, it quietly stands on your right. Among the three rooms, reserve the "Kura." After check-in, pass through the historic building and head to the room. Originally a storehouse, it has been renovated into a maisonette-type twin room. The atmosphere of the walls is distinctive, truly a hidden retreat. With Louis Poulsen lighting, Carl Hansen desk chairs, and HIROSHIMA chairs, it's a space irresistible to interior enthusiasts. The desk is spacious, making computer work efficient. The Bang & Olufsen speakers are portable, adding convenience. The room is so full of highlights that you hardly notice the absence of a TV at first. Books related to Nagasaki are also available, offering insights into Wa-Ka-Ran culture, hidden Christians, Shusaku Endo, and more, providing a rich cultural experience of Nagasaki. By the way, the bath is a cypress bath, exclusive to the "Kura" room, making it feel like a special treat. Dinner is an authentic Italian course. It was my first time having an Italian course, but the dishes served in Hasami ware were visually delightful. The wine selection was impressive, leading to a bit of overindulgence in both drinking and eating. Especially in Nagasaki, perhaps only here? The stone oven-baked bread and pizza were exceptional. After dinner, enjoy a leisurely bath, and relax in bed with music while reading the Nagasaki-themed book by Shusaku Endo that caught your interest. The next morning's breakfast is Japanese. Usually, I only have coffee in the morning, but I finished it all before I knew it. Head out for a complimentary optional walk. Stroll around the neighborhood, rich with Nagasaki's unique slopes and stairs, as the staff explains. Along the way, locals share various insights, making it an exciting and luxurious time. After check-out, leave your luggage and take the back road to Oura Cathedral via the Dutch Slope. Finally, wander aimlessly on the Kinen Slope, a side path of Oura Cathedral recommended by Shusaku Endo, which I read about in the room the previous night. It was a journey that freed me from the busyness of daily life, allowing me to appreciate the luxury of space and leisure. The staff were very pleasant, showing thoughtfulness and care, and took pride in Nagasaki's town, the Tōtōtei building, and its history, making me feel happy as well. A journey to experience culture and history, highly recommended!

    A hidden auberge in Nagasaki that makes you want to visit again

    The other day, I stayed at Toutoutei. It is located in the city with excellent access to tourist spots, yet in a very quiet area, allowing me to fully appreciate the charm of Toutoutei during my stay. The atmosphere of the property was very calming, making it a perfect space to experience an extraordinary feeling. The building, which is over 100 years old, and the interior of the property harmoniously blend a stylish Japanese modern space, allowing for a very comfortable stay. Additionally, the staff's service was very courteous, and they provided local sightseeing information, making my stay in Nagasaki fulfilling. I chose a meal-inclusive plan and dined at the Italian restaurant on-site. The course menu focused on local production for local consumption, and I could feel the chef's dedication in various aspects, such as using Hasami ware from Nagasaki for the plates. Of course, all the dishes were delicious. (It seems that the property used to be a long-established Chinese restaurant, and there was a round table in the private room that retained the atmosphere of that time.) There is also a great option for shuttle service from Nagasaki Airport to the property, so I definitely want to use it the next time I visit for the Nagasaki Lantern Festival!
