    The cloudy hot spring water is amazing!

    The charming thatched-roof entrance is wonderful. The Onsen with yuno-hana drifting in the water was amazing! The temperature was just right, and I soaked many times. I was impressed that the floor in the washing area of the private indoor bath in my Room was warm. One open-air bath was spacious and very open, and it soothed both body and mind. However, the other open-air bath had what felt like an added-on steam room installed, which made it feel cramped and seemed to spoil the view. The Room was clean, spacious, and comfortable. The pajamas and bedding felt great on the skin, and I slept very well! The meals were delicious. Especially the rice—it was outstanding! If I had to ask for one thing, it would have been even better if I could choose how well-done the main meat dish was cooked. One thing that concerned me was the meal service. Even though there were bowls and lidded dishes, after placing them on the table, staff immediately removed the lids, which was disappointing. I also noticed they touched the rim of my rice bowl—the part that touches your mouth—several times while serving. During the meal, empty dishes were cleared away quickly, which made me feel as if we were being rushed to leave our seats. There were no explanations of the dishes either, so I think there is room for improvement. When returning to my Room after dinner, I was surprised that my zori sandals were warm! I finally understood how “Nobunaga” must have felt lol It was a chilly day, so it warmed my heart as well. It’s a bit disappointing that there were no welcome drinks or sweets provided as a service, but overall I was satisfied.

    I wasn’t originally ...

    I wasn’t originally planning to visit Kurokawa Onsen, but a friend recommended it, so I looked for an Accommodation available on my dates and decided to stay. I’m sorry for being rude, but I didn’t have very high expectations. When I entered the Room, it had underfloor heating—even in the washroom. The in-room bath was spacious, and the water quality was excellent; it was such a pleasant Onsen that I wanted to soak again and again. I stayed for two nights. The meals felt carefully prepared with great attention to detail. With course-style feasts you can sometimes start to feel overwhelmed, but that never happened here—strangely enough. I don’t know if it was the chef’s sense and skill, the seasoning, or the choice of ingredients and menu, but everything was truly delicious. I was completely satisfied and felt genuinely happy. After dinner we returned to our Room, and they had warmed our sandals—thank you for such thoughtful care. Thank you as well to all the lovely staff. I hope to visit again. Thank you very much for taking care of us.

    Winter in Kurokawa Onsen

    This is my third stay at Waraku Accommodation. During my first visit, a typhoon hit the day before my stay, and it took me 12 hours to reach the accommodation, arriving past midnight. Despite the late hour, they prepared dinner for me. Normally, I would have been grateful just for rice balls and soup, but they served a full meal. Their kindness has made me return multiple times. This thoughtful accommodation with reasonable rates is truly appealing.

    Not cost-effective

    I often use high-end accommodations, but I felt this one was not worth the price. The room I stayed in was spacious with an open-air bath, but the space was not utilized effectively. The TV was small for the size of the room—ideally, a smart TV would be best. The bed was small, and the room too dark. Perhaps it’s an issue with furniture arrangement? It just felt like a large empty space. There were paper towels provided instead of hand towels, and surprisingly no face towels either (though there was one standard ryokan-logo towel per person). No options for choosing yukata; the outerwear provided was thick and unusual. While mountain spring water tasted great, it would have been nice to have at least one bottled water per person available in the room. No coffee maker provided. The shower had high water pressure, and the onsen quality was excellent. Dinner had good quantity and quality overall. Breakfast included three types of fish fillets—there might be some room for improvement here?

    The delicious meals and the sulfur bath were excellent.

    Room Concept Quality of Amenities, etc. It felt a bit different from other properties in the same price range... The meals, service, and onsen benefits were good.
