I went down 300 steps to soak in the open-air bath!
The riverside open-air bath was closed, but we used the outdoor Onsen reached by going down 300 steps. The staircase is so narrow that only one person can pass at a time. We were told it’s open until 11:00 p.m., but we were worried about our footing at night, so we went in the evening and again in the morning. While soaking, we enjoyed the river’s flow and the mountains, listening to the sound of the water. The stairs were tough, but I truly felt glad we came. The semi-open-air bath down about 20 steps was also wonderful, with a clear view of the mountains right in front of you. The temperature was perfect for me. I didn’t expect much from the indoor bath, but it had large windows and felt very pleasant; there was a jacuzzi, a reclining bath, and a hotter pool where we could relax comfortably. Everyone at the Accommodation was very kind and welcoming. Dinner came in many small dishes. The beef and the meatballs in the hot pot were delicious. Even simple items like the beef sauce, hot-pot broth, and pickles were all excellent. The portions were just right for us as a couple. I think you need to be fairly fit to visit an outdoor Onsen that requires going down 300 steps—but I’m really glad we did. This isn’t about the Accommodation itself, but both the bus driver from Nasushiobara Station and the person at Shiobara Onsen Terminal who explained a map of Shiobara Onsen were incredibly friendly, which made our memories of this trip even better. Thank you very much!

It was wonderful.
This was my first stay. The corner Room had a great view, and everything was clean, so I had a very comfortable time. The only thing I noticed was the in-room bath. I asked the staff how to use it and tried filling it with the hot spring water right away. Since the temperature is close to 60°C, it was extremely hot at first, which I could confirm. However, when I tried filling it again later in the evening to enjoy a long soak, warm water did not come out easily. By then it was after 10:00 p.m., and I didn’t want to trouble the front desk, so I didn’t call. Another guest who uses added water mentioned experiencing the same situation: only a small amount came out from the spout little by little, and it felt like it took quite a long time to fill the tub. In the end, I gave up on using the in-room bath and used the large public bath instead, which was very relaxing. Other than that, everything was excellent—the staff were wonderful and kindly spoke to me, the meals were satisfying, and cleanliness throughout was great. With such beautiful views during this season of fresh greenery, I’d like to look forward to enjoying the in-room bath next time as well. I apologize for asking this as a request, but I would appreciate it if you could check on how well hot water fills into the tub. Personally, I was very satisfied with the hinoki bath.

It was very disappointing.
As a Valentine’s Day treat for my husband, I made a Reservation for a Plan with an open-air bath in the Room. The spacious top-floor Room we were shown to was comfortable and beautifully designed, which immediately lifted our spirits. First, we used the large public bath. The ceiling, walls, and floors do show their age, but the water temperature was just right and very relaxing. Perhaps because the women’s bath is on the 6th floor and the men’s on the 7th, the shower water pressure felt a bit weak. However, the view through the large glass windows was wonderful. After bathing, we had a few drinks in the private lounge; it had a great atmosphere and my husband seemed very pleased. Dinner was served in our Room and was truly luxurious: Tochigi wagyu beef, duck hot pot, salt-grilled char that had been grilled at the irori hearth by the entrance when we arrived, fugu tempura, and more. Everything was delicious. After dinner, I enjoyed soaking in the open-air bath in our Room that I had been looking forward to so much—it was an elegant and relaxing time. I soaked again right before bed; although the twin beds were on the firm side, they were extremely comfortable. Up to this point it was wonderful… but then. In the morning, being able to get ready without having to go to the public bath—by using both our Room shower and open-air bath—was something I personally really appreciated. We were both especially looking forward to enjoying another soak even after breakfast as well. However, when I woke up early and checked it, it seemed that during the night hot water to our open-air bath had stopped; by morning it was cold. I tried all of troubleshooting steps described multiple times but no hot water came out. We contacted reception and they responded, but breakfast time arrived before it could be resolved so we couldn’t use it in time. My husband tried again after breakfast hoping it would be warm by then as well—but once again there was no hot water—and in the end we were unable to use our Room’s open-air bath at all after that night. While staff were working on it my husband went to use public bath instead; however for me there wasn’t enough time between breakfast and checkout to go there as well while getting ready,, so I ultimately gave up bathing altogether that morning. Even though we splurged for this as a Valentine’s Day gift replacement,, it left us very disappointed.. Not being able enjoy what we most looked forward—the comfortable morning soak—was truly frustrating.. I hope you will improve your Facility so this does not happen again.. One more thing: since nature is nature,,I dealt with several stink bugs in room myself., But seeing around ten stink bugs wriggling inside light fixture on ceiling of washroom is something you should address given this is special room.. It extremely unpleasant..

Meals are satisfying.
Dinner portions are generous and delicious. Breakfast, including Onsen eggs and simmered dishes, was also tasty. However, the Room was small, and during the night, beetles were flying around, making it hard to sleep peacefully. For those who dislike insects, bringing insect repellent might be necessary. Other than that, it was a satisfying experience.

A wonderful accommodation.
I stayed with my mother and had a wonderful experience. The hospitality of all the staff was excellent, allowing us to truly appreciate the charm of the Ryokan. I was especially touched by the hostess's thoughtful care for my mother. The Room was clean, the hot spring water was soothing, and the meals were absolutely delicious. (Sorry that we couldn't finish everything as it was too much for an elderly mother and her daughter.) If possible, I would love to visit again during the autumn foliage season. Thank you very much!

It was excellent.
The open-air bath in the room was incredibly refreshing and relaxing. The outdoor open-air bath was also great, but the long staircase to and from it felt like a bit of a challenge on the way back. It might be fine for younger guests, but for our age group, it felt slightly tough. Overall, the staff member who assisted us was very friendly, and the accommodation's hospitality was exceptional!

We hope to see more Rooms like this.
Due to circumstances, I used a barrier-free Room and was very grateful for the thoughtful and attentive service. They even added extra handrails for me. I hope more such Rooms will become available in the future. The amenities were well thought out, but... Although there were paper towels in the toilet, having a hand towel would have been even better.

I had a relaxing and very comfortable stay. If I may suggest, it would be better if the handrails on the 300 steps were at a more easily graspable height.

The bath was excellent. The room included an open-air bath and was priced at 30,000 yen with breakfast and dinner included. Free drinks were available in the lounge. At the bottom of the 320 steps, there was a valley with no wind, allowing for a relaxing bath experience. I would love to visit again during the autumn foliage season. The staff were very kind and accommodating.

Snow-viewing bath
This was my first visit. As introduced on TV, the room was renovated and very comfortable to use. The service from the property staff was excellent, and the meals had a wide variety of dishes, looked beautiful, and were truly high quality and delicious with great value for money. I felt truly relaxed watching the snow fall while lying in the large public bath. I gave up entering the open-air bath for women along the river without an enclosure after descending the stairs, so I look forward to visiting again next time.

The robatayaki was attended by the staff, and the grilling was excellent. The hot water was managed by a dedicated bath attendant, and the quality of the water was good. We were able to enjoy drinking the hot spring water, and there was also an open-air bath, allowing us to enjoy the Onsen. Thank you very much.
