    If you ever feel like it, it’s the kind of place you can hop in the car and head to right away…!!

    This was the final Accommodation of my first trip to Niigata, a 3-night, 4-day journey. Our Room was the 2nd-floor Western-style twin [Marronnier]. The bathroom, with a separate toilet, was very convenient and made our mother-and-daughter trip extremely comfortable. The closet was spacious, and there were plenty of hangers. Just before check-in there are shoe lockers, and you can walk around the building barefoot or in socks. From the large floor-to-ceiling windows in the Room and along the corridors, you can enjoy views of wine grapes vineyards and the mountain range stretching from Mt. Yahiko. I visited looking forward to Vinespa’s aroma hot stone sauna, but I was told it is no longer available after renovations—such a shame. Still, the open-air baths placed throughout the garden offered wonderful scenery, and I thoroughly enjoyed soaking both after dinner and before breakfast. Restaurant Cave d’Occi is beyond a European-style garden that is carefully maintained by gardeners. The April menu—beautifully presented and truly delicious—featured local ingredients (hairy crab, celeriac root celery), spear squid), wild boar meat), flounder), roast beef smoked with branches from wine grapes vines), etc.) without feeling overdone). At the winery shop, I had my favorite Zweigeltrebe and unoaked Chardonnay shipped home). The next morning’s Japanese breakfast surprised me—in a great way: zaru tofu with olive oil was delicious!! At checkout time) pizza toast) grape juice) at the library café tasted so good it made leaving hard). It’s an Accommodation that made me genuinely envy those who live nearby).

    I love the wine, bee...

    I love the wine, beer, and atmosphere at Cave d'Occi. Last New Year, I stayed at Travignue and was very satisfied, so this year I chose Vinespa within the onsen facility. Although it is also a day-use onsen, I was concerned about how crowded it might be during New Year’s holidays but did not feel any inconvenience. Guests were provided with fresh towels each time they used the onsen, and in addition to pajamas, there were beautifully designed indoor wear available, making my stay very comfortable. Dinner was French cuisine in a separate building with excellent wine pairings. Breakfast was a Japanese set meal served by warm and attentive staff; the rice was so delicious that I had three extra servings of Koshihikari rice! I do have one request: The reason I chose to stay at Vinespa was because I looked forward to fully enjoying the book lounge. At night after day-use guests left, I imagined being able to relax in my favorite spot for reading or even taking a nap while surrounded by books exclusively for overnight guests. However, much earlier than the time mentioned during check-in, lights on the second floor were turned off entirely; additionally half of the first floor became off-limits due to cleaning of the onsen area. Recently "bookstore hotels" have become popular as well—while there may be staffing challenges or other issues involved—I kindly ask you consider keeping access open to overnight guests for late-night use of your book lounge facilities!

    60th Birthday Celebration

    We recently chose Cardbouche as a gift for the 60th birthday celebration of the owner of a beauty salon group! Although I haven’t been there myself, it came highly recommended by friends, so I thought it would be a perfect choice. The recipient was absolutely delighted and said they were very satisfied. They mentioned that the service, food, and wine were all excellent and expressed a strong desire to visit again! I’m truly glad we chose Cardbouche. Thank you so much! I hope to visit someday as well, so please take care of me when that time comes. One note: it seems the Aveda shampoo among the amenities had oxidized. Since shampoos can oxidize over time, occasional checks might be helpful!

    I had an even better...

    I had an even better time than I expected! The spa, Onsen, meals, and books made for a fulfilling two days. While it's great to go with someone, I also think spending a relaxing time alone is wonderful. The wine pairing was absolutely perfect.

    Visit a Winery in Niigata

    I stayed one night at Vinespa, located next to Cave d'Occi. The facility is very clean. As a spa facility, I was able to enjoy the Onsen. The cuisine is Japanese. The carefully prepared Japanese dishes using local ingredients paired perfectly with wine made from local grapes.

    Relax and unwind in your own style for the perfect vacation.

    The visit was initially planned for wine tasting at a winery, with accommodation as an afterthought, but I was pleasantly surprised by how wonderful this accommodation turned out to be. The Onsen, book lounge, room, and vineyard were all seamlessly connected, creating a space where guests could relax and enjoy their vacation at their own pace. I also participated in an event similar to a stamp rally that allowed me to visit various locations for wine tasting and even became the owner of a grapevine sapling. For dinner, I enjoyed Japanese cuisine paired with locally produced wine, and breakfast featured an exceptional traditional Japanese meal. The facility was impeccably clean, making it hard to find any points of dissatisfaction—overall, it was an incredibly satisfying stay. Since I visited during the intense heat of August this time around, I look forward to visiting again in winter to experience its different charm.

    Enjoy your stay at Vinespa by Cave d'Occi.

    Stayed for one night with my wife. The guest room, service, Onsen, and Facility were all excellent, and we were especially satisfied with the meals. There are several wineries nearby where you can enjoy comparing various wines to those from Cave d'Occi while appreciating the serene natural surroundings, which added to our sense of fulfillment.

    Upon arrival by shuttle bus, the friendly staff warmly welcomed us and provided detailed guidance, creating a sense of excitement. The winery tour we joined immediately was fascinating, with the guide's thorough explanations deepening our interest in wine. At the restaurant, we enjoyed aromatic herbs and delicious dishes so much that we changed our plans for the next day to explore multiple restaurants on-site. The open-air hot spring with beautifying effects was incredibly relaxing, and the soft towels and pajamas were gentle on the skin, ensuring a comfortable night's sleep. Every corner of the vineyards and gardens was beautifully maintained like a picture-perfect scene. Even as someone who doesn't drink much alcohol, I had a wonderfully relaxing time here. I’ll definitely return in another season!

    Spacious rooms with a stunning view of the vineyard provided a relaxing stay. We enjoyed a full-course French meal paired with exquisite wine. However, it was disappointing that the spa closed early, so we couldn't enjoy it after dinner.

    This accommodation was perfect for a relaxing stay with my sister to rest both body and mind. We stayed in the Mimosa Western-style room on the second floor. The room featured a twin bed setup and a large sofa on one floor, with big windows leading to the balcony and waist-high windows offering picturesque views like paintings. From the winery setting, we enjoyed views of vineyards during the day and a full moon with starry skies at night. The meals included a Japanese course paired with local sake. The locally sourced Koshihikari rice and flavorful miso soup were exceptional, along with each dish being carefully prepared to perfection—truly satisfying dining experience. Surrounded by numerous books (available both in-room and in the lounge area), this accommodation is ideal for quietly enjoying an adult retreat. At Vin Spa within the same building, I indulged in an aromatherapy body treatment that provided detoxification, hydration, and relaxation benefits—a wonderful experience enhanced by their winter-exclusive passport offers that are almost too much to use fully! The floor staff greeted us warmly with perfect smiles throughout our stay, while restaurant staff were kind enough to provide detailed explanations when asked about anything. For those not staying overnight, there is also access to day-use Onsen facilities available for visitors seeking relaxation as well!

    Enjoy wine

    I spent a very relaxing time reading an interesting book from the library in the facility with a glass of wine in hand, or enjoying the Onsen. The wine I had for dinner was, of course, wonderful, but I was impressed by the unique menu that used by-products from the wine-making process in the French cuisine.

    Next, I want to have a Multiple Night Stay, but

    It was the perfect Stays for someone like me who loves books, wine, and Onsen. Originally, I wanted to visit KabuDocchi for the wine, but the book cafe was more wonderful than I imagined, and next time I want to have a Multiple Night Stay and immerse myself in books and Onsen. However, it seems that Multiple Night Stays are not anticipated, as the breakfast is exactly the same every day. I requested a French meal with wine pairing. Every wine matched perfectly with the dishes, and the meal was gentle on the stomach and delicious. I felt that the dishes were structured to complement the wine. The breakfast was delicious, but personally, I would have been happy if there was a salad. I rated the customer service and service as 4 because not all the staff were excellent. I don't think this is the case with the staff at Travigne, but at Vinespa, which is also a day-use Facility, there were many staff members without smiles. From the perspective of a book cafe with an Onsen, such a high level of service may not be required, but from the perspective of an Onsen Ryokan, I would rate it around 3 stars instead of 5. The staff in charge of the accommodation were all very kind and pleasant, so I felt that it might be difficult to maintain the same level of service for a Facility with two faces. Nevertheless, I was very satisfied overall and definitely want to visit again.

    Wonderful Wine Spa Resort

    Enjoyed a comfortable stay in a spacious and clean room, surrounded by a winery and Onsen, delicious meals and wine, and a book cafe filled with books! We also participated in a winery tour, where we walked through the vineyards and learned about the process of how harvested grapes become wine, along with the passion for winemaking. The taste of the wine, knowing the thoughts and intentions behind its creation, was exceptional. The meals, featuring local ingredients paired with wine, were delicious. Above all, the staff provided a naturally courteous and friendly service, leaving a good impression. I wish the Albariño from the Cépage series was more affordable to enjoy.
