    Dog-Friendly Accommodation

    This trip was for our dog, so we chose an Accommodation that truly pampers dogs. As expected, the treatment for dogs was excellent… but there were a few things that concerned us. I’ll list both the good and the bad. Pros 1. Dog supplies were available everywhere, so we could travel light. Cleaning tools were provided in both the lounge and the indoor dog run, which was reassuring even without bringing anything. 2. The lodge was impressively clean. There wasn’t a single strand of dog hair on the floor. 3. The number of guest groups is limited. This helped prevent issues between dogs, and we could use the dog run almost privately. 4. All staff members clearly love dogs and were very understanding. Cons 1. The floors inside the lodge become extremely slippery when wet. Especially in socks (which are provided), it felt like standing on an ice rink—we both slipped and fell because of it. We weren’t injured, but it was scary. 2. The meals felt a bit… low-effort? Since this is an Accommodation that prioritizes dogs, I wondered if less attention is given to human guests. Some fish dishes had a strong odor and were hard to eat, and dishes with stronger odors also seemed overly salty—almost as if trying to mask it. It’s such a lovely place, so I really wished for better food. 3. The floor near the lobby may also be slippery for large dogs? Our medium-sized dog was fine, but large dogs kept slipping so much that they seemed afraid to walk; one ended up tucking its tail between its legs, crouching low, and only managing to shuffle around near the lobby. 4. Under the sofa in the indoor dog run was dirty, and the entrance gate was too low. We made great use of the indoor dog run because we had a large dog who gets hot easily, so having it was appreciated… but under the sofa was covered in dust. When playing with the provided balls, they kept rolling under the sofa; we repeatedly had to crawl on all fours or move furniture to retrieve dust-covered balls again and again. Also, while I think the gate height is fine for small dogs, our large dog could easily jump over it—so I’d feel safer if it were replaced with a sturdier, taller gate.

    It became a wonderful memory.

    Although I live in the prefecture, I had wanted to stay here for a long time, and I was finally able to do so this time. It’s a dog-focused Hotel in every way, and all the staff were very friendly, so we had a truly enjoyable time. Because it was extremely hot for the season, we couldn’t use the outdoor dog run, but we still had fun using the indoor dog run and taking walks around the property. The meals were stylish and delicious, and the large public bath was not crowded, so I could relax—overall I was satisfied with everything. I can’t stay often, but it’s a Hotel I’d like to visit again if I have the chance.

    This was our first time staying here. You greeted us as soon as we arrived by car, and check-in with a welcome drink was a lovely touch. The cart prepared for meals and the outstanding service made us completely satisfied. The food was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. All the staff were very pleasant, and we were happy that you treated our dog like family. Our younger child’s birthday was coming up, and when we mentioned it at the time of the Reservation, you surprised us with a birthday cake for our dog—we were truly delighted. The dog run was very spacious and well maintained, and we enjoyed having it all to ourselves while our dogs ran around happily. It was a hot day, but the breeze from the lake felt wonderful, making it an unforgettable memory. We would definitely like to stay here again when we visit Lake Biwa. Thank you so much to all the staff.

    Cottage

    This was my first time staying here. The Reviews were great, so I was really looking forward to it. The cottage is two stories and has a garden, and our dogs seemed to have a wonderful time. The food was delicious, and we were very satisfied. We would definitely like to stay again.

    A dog-first Hotel where both dogs and their owners will be fully satisfied

    Although it rained unfortunately, there was an indoor dog run, so we were able to fully enjoy our time with our dog. The meals were creative French cuisine with Japanese touches. Each dish was beautifully presented, and every plate was carefully prepared—each one felt like a main course. Everything was delicious, and we enjoyed a relaxing, luxurious time with our dog. Near the dog run, there is also a lounge that you can use with your dog, which was a great bonus—we could unwind after playing. The environment is well set up for spending a calm time together with your dog, making it a comfortable stay for owners as well. All the staff were warm and welcoming—this is a wonderful Hotel that made us want to visit again. Thank you very much for the commemorative photo! I would definitely recommend it to friends and acquaintances.

    Spotlessly clean from corner to corner

    Both the indoor areas and the dog run—everything on the property—were kept spotlessly clean. The dishes were beautifully presented, and the dashi-based料理 was especially delicious. Our dog’s meal was also plated beautifully, and even our very picky eater finished everything. This time we stayed in the main building; while it was clean, there were some signs of age such as peeling wallpaper and worn tatami mats, so next time we’ll consider a villa or cottage.

    We stayed with a fam...

    We stayed with a family of four and two dogs. We thought we might be a little late for the cherry blossoms, but there were still plenty left, and the petals dancing in the wind were truly beautiful. We could also enjoy them together with Lake Biwa from our Room, so we came at just the right time. The food was delicious, and I still regret leaving so much of the final sea bream rice. It happened to be my stepson’s birthday, so thank you for celebrating with us. Since this trip was with our daughter and her husband, it was very convenient that the bedrooms were separated by sliding doors. We hope to visit again during cherry blossom season.

    Happy Moments with Your Dog

    I was looking for a Hotel where I could spend all my time with my dog and still enjoy sightseeing, and that’s how I found Biwadoq. We were warmly welcomed as soon as we arrived, and the entrance was lovely. I relaxed on the sofa with a welcome drink while completing check-in. The Room had a semi-Japanese style with floor chairs, which hurt my lower back, so personally I think a Western-style Room would be more comfortable. The dog run was very well equipped, the garden was beautiful, and my dog seemed very happy. The meal was excellent—a Japanese-Western fusion course—and everything was delicious. The ReFa shower head in the bath dispersed the water too much and lowered the temperature, so it felt cold. All of the staff were kind and courteous, and we had a very pleasant stay. I would definitely like to stay again.

    First Course Dinner with Your Beloved Dog

    A delightful first course dinner with my beloved dog, featuring a luxurious seasonal course meal and a beautifully presented one-plate dish for my dog. The staff's thoughtful care for my pet was exceptional, leaving both of us thoroughly satisfied. Seeing how happy my dog was, I regretted not ordering breakfast for them as well. The experience exceeded expectations in value and created another wonderful memory. Thank you so much!

    Everything was extremely satisfying. It was truly a dog-first Hotel. We enjoyed running freely in the dog run, dining together at the same table, and the food was absolutely delicious. Being able to relax on the bed together just like at home was wonderful, and the bed height was perfect for dogs. The Facility had everything we needed.     Compared to before...

    This was my third stay after a long time. I stayed in the main building, but compared to before, it felt less lively with fewer guests. The aging of the facility overall is noticeable. The noise from the air conditioner in the room disturbed my sleep, and there seemed to be an odor in the room that might come with age. Compared to other accommodations nearby that allow stays with dogs, this place falls short. The newly established club lounge also had limited hours, closing at 5:30 PM, which made it difficult to enjoy coffee after dinner. Dinner itself was delicious with impressive presentation and tableware; however, compared to before, it seemed like more affordable ingredients were being used, which was slightly disappointing. While I believe the chef's skills are excellent, I understand that rising costs or budget constraints might be challenging for management. On a positive note, the amenities were excellent—shampoo and other items were from MARKS & WEB. Additionally, all staff members worked very hard and provided kind and pleasant service throughout my stay. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience at a dog-friendly accommodation for such an affordable price in today's times. However, I wonder if it's difficult to reflect facility maintenance costs into pricing due to market conditions. Despite these thoughts shared here freely on my part as feedback—I sincerely hope this pioneer accommodation in Kansai continues striving forward!

    It was a very good Hotel! I would like to stay again.

    We visited to celebrate our dog's birthday. The staff remembered our dog's name and greeted us warmly every time they passed by. They even prepared a message board in front of the Room, which we received as a gift when leaving. There were plenty of photo-worthy spots to enjoy. The food was absolutely delicious, and the dog menu was wonderful too. The Room was clean, and we had a great time with our dog in the low-bed Room. The lakeside was nearby with a sandy beach, but there were some driftwood (understandable as it is not managed). Additionally, there were many off-leash dogs on the beach since it is not a private beach, which was unfortunate but understandable.

    Overall, it felt unbalanced.

    The staff's hospitality was excellent, and the dog run facility was impressively spacious. However, here are some critical points: ◯ The leash hooks for dogs in the restaurant are too close to neighboring tables, causing stress and making it difficult to focus on meals (if dining is time-limited, tables should be spaced evenly). ◯ The villa entrance canopy is very narrow, making it easy to get wet in the rain. ◯ The villa design seems low-budget, with a layout that doesn't provide a comfortable space for dogs (the entrance area is very narrow and close to the bathroom, leading to congestion). ◯ Only one set of towels for dogs is provided; replacements should be available from the start in case of rain or washing paws (though contacting the front desk resolves this issue). ◯ If there’s an air-conditioned lounge with a drink corner, hot coffee should be a must-have option instead of just offering various teas. Instead of providing toys for dogs (which often carry odors), treats would be more appreciated as toys were rarely used by others. Dinner: The most shocking aspect was the quality of the food. The menu only listed ingredients without mentioning their origin or concept, leaving its purpose unclear. It felt like experimental cooking without proper planning or tasting beforehand—creative at best but poorly executed at worst—ruining good ingredients with subpar preparation methods. Breakfast: I chose Western-style breakfast but was surprised when it started with multigrain cereal and three grapes—it seemed more suitable for dogs! The main dish consisted of three sausages and an omelet resembling something served at home rather than at an accommodation charging this price. Bathing Facility: It resembled a gym bathhouse—neither particularly good nor bad but average overall. Having stayed at numerous pet-friendly accommodations before, I found this one disappointing given its quality versus cost ratio—a total charge of 100,000 yen for two adults felt unjustified. Further improvement would benefit future guests greatly.

    We had a wonderful time.

    The accommodation was very clean and well-maintained, allowing us to enjoy a refreshing and pristine stay. Our beloved dog absolutely loves Biwa Dog, and from the moment we arrived, he was all smiles, enjoying every single moment to the fullest. We've stayed here several times before, and we're so glad we could bring him back again. The dinner for dogs was beautifully presented—so much so that it felt almost too pretty to eat! It must have been delicious because our dog devoured it with great enthusiasm. On the other hand, we feel there’s room for improvement in the meals for humans. While the presentation is lovely, the quality of human meals seems inconsistent; it was better during our previous visit. We hope this improves by our next stay as we look forward to returning again.     The restaurant was excellent.

    The restaurant menu was visually appealing and delicious. The staff's service was pleasant, and we appreciated the thoughtful care for our beloved dog. The bath was a bit disappointing; it would have been nice if the usage hours were extended a little later. The location is excellent, making us want to visit repeatedly, which makes it all the more unfortunate. As for the front desk staff, their service seemed to vary by person. The staff on the first day were excellent, but during check-out, I felt a bit of an "Oh?" moment in comparison. Additionally, what stood out most was realizing at the final additional payment that our dog's accommodation fee wasn't included in the original price despite being a dog-friendly hotel. At other hotels we've stayed at with our dog before, there were no additional charges like this, so I felt slightly uncomfortable about it—though this might also be due to my lack of confirmation beforehand. Considering the total price paid overall, it's hard to say that satisfaction was high. My apologies for pointing out various things!

    Thank you for taking care of us, including our beloved dog Natsume, during our recent 1-night, 2-day stay. Thanks to your thoughtful hospitality, we were able to create wonderful memories even on a rainy day. There aren't many dog-friendly hotels where you can stay together with your pet the entire time, so it was incredibly helpful. It seemed like everything was new and exciting for Natsume on her first trip. The meals were luxurious and beautifully presented, which left us deeply impressed.     At Dog 1st, attention to detail is evident, and the quality of meals is high. While the large public bath lacks facilities like a sauna or open-air bath compared to other Hotels, I was personally satisfied as I could use it in a private setting. The staff's efforts were noticeable through their greetings and welcome board, reflecting their enthusiasm. However, the response during check-out was immature and lacked refinement, leaving an impression similar to that of a Business Hotel. The male front desk staff's irresponsible remarks were disappointing, making me hesitant to return. That said, if improvements are made, I would consider staying again.

    We made wonderful memories.

    We stayed at a villa with a private dog run, which we used. However, it seemed that the previous guests had not cleaned up properly, as there were droppings scattered around. While our dog didn’t step on them, unfortunately, one of us did. Cleaning up after pets is expected, but we would appreciate it if the hotel staff could also check the garden area. The room was thoroughly cleaned and well-maintained. The freshly cooked rice at breakfast was unexpectedly hard. Dinner was satisfying. The staff were kind and many seemed to genuinely love pets.

    A Trip to Celebrate Your Beloved Dog's 7th Birthday

    We made a 1-night, 2-day reservation at Biwa Dog, a place we had wanted to visit for our beloved dog's birthday. During the reservation process, we mentioned that our dog is not fond of venison, and they kindly adjusted the meal. Upon arrival and parking, a staff member immediately came to greet us by name and helped carry our luggage. They also took a family photo for us and gave it to us along with a birthday card during checkout. The staff's warmth and care made both us and our dog feel truly welcome, allowing us to enjoy an unforgettable stay. The meals and drinks were absolutely delicious as well. It was such a wonderful birthday trip! We look forward to visiting regularly in the future.

    A comfortable place ...

    A comfortable place for your dog to stay. There is one indoor dog run and about three outdoor ones, including a dedicated area for small dogs, allowing them to run freely. This time, we stayed in a room inside the facility instead of a cottage. The spacious room allowed our dog to walk around freely, which was great. While there was some pet hair in the lobby from other dogs, the room seemed properly cleaned. You can be with your dog everywhere except the bath area, making it ideal for pets that cannot be left alone. Although we didn’t make an anniversary reservation for our dog's February birthday, they prepared a birthday plate for us, creating a very special experience. We ordered dinner separately and our dog seemed to enjoy it as they finished it quickly! The meals for humans were delicious but served course by course rather than all at once, which took time and might have been boring for our dog during that period. There is only one bath available; it's fine if you just want something simple but may feel lacking if you're looking forward to enjoying an Onsen experience. The amenities had a stylish and luxurious feel; however, note that the toothbrush bristles are quite firm! There may not be many tourist spots nearby so thorough research beforehand is recommended (though this could have been due to my lack of preparation).

    It was such a wonderful Hotel that my daughter wanted to stay for 5 nights!

    I stayed in a villa-type room. The room was compact but stylish, and we could access the dog run and club lounge from the garden. My child and our dog went out to play multiple times. Additionally, we were able to park the car right in front of the room, making it easy to carry our luggage. The meals were beautifully presented and delicious, and above all, I appreciated how staff spoke kindly to my children during each serving, creating a fun atmosphere for them to enjoy their meals. The dog run also had an indoor area, so I felt that our dog could have fun regardless of the weather. Even my usually critical daughter said she wanted to stay for five nights for the first time ever! While five nights might not be possible, we would love to come back again for about two nights and relax here. Thank you very much!

    Wanko First

    At the quiet lakeside Hotel, the surroundings were a pleasant place for dogs with a dog run and grassy walking course. We stayed in a cottage, so it was too cold to go to the main building's large bath, and the dressing room in the Room's bathroom was cold. Next time, if it's winter, I would like to stay in the main building. The food was very delicious, but since it was cold, I wanted some warm drinks. There were plenty of treats for the dogs, but there were no snacks for people, so I would appreciate it if they could provide even a small amount.

    The best hospitality

    We stayed with my husband and our Sheltie on a Saturday in December. First of all, even though we arrived late, the staff did not show any displeasure and were kind to our dog, which was a relief. After washing off the kinako from our bodies with warm water at Dragon Hat, we entered the room feeling refreshed. Inside, there were no restrictions such as not allowing dogs on the bed, so we could let our dog roam freely with peace of mind. The layout of the toilet and washbasin was efficient, and the amenities were of high quality. The large public bath was spacious enough. And above all, the deliciousness of the meals! We thoroughly enjoyed both dinner and breakfast. In the morning, we took a pleasant walk by Lake Biwa, which felt like a private beach. The small gestures, such as welcome treats and souvenir photos, were delightful memories of the trip, making our stay enjoyable!
