    The view from the guest room is spectacular.

    My family and I have stayed here many times over the past 25 years. When you step into the room, every window frame is filled with ocean—this view is unique to this Hotel. The open-air Onsen bath overlooking the sea is also wonderful. However, the building and Facility have hardly changed in 25 years. As for the meals, they no longer feel as exciting as they used to, so I felt it might be better to choose No Meals Included and go out for dinner at a nearby seafood restaurant or sushi place instead. Since it is built right at the water’s edge, it may be difficult to build a new property here under current regulations, but the location itself is truly outstanding. As a fan, I hope it can undergo a full renovation and be reborn.

    When I arrived at the Hotel, I was surprised by how old the exterior looked, but I pulled myself together and checked in. The lobby was filled with all kinds of quirky decorations—toys, masks, stuffed animals, and countless clocks that were each slightly out of sync—making it feel like I had wandered into another dimension. The guest room also felt dated, but it was kept clean and tidy. Best of all, the Pacific Ocean stretched out right in front of me; with Inubosaki Lighthouse to the left and the sound of waves close by, it offered an outstanding ocean view. The baths also included an open-air bath that felt seamlessly connected to the sea, which was very relaxing. The meals were thoughtfully prepared and satisfying. There are several library rooms inside the Hotel, well stocked with a huge selection of manga magazines, collected volumes, and general books—I could even lose myself in reading while looking out at the ocean. “Chospo” (Choshi Sports) was also an entertaining newspaper. It’s not a place you’d call spotless or modern, but in its own way it feels stylish—a unique Hotel where you can enjoy something out of the ordinary.

    The view from the Room and lobby was amazing. In the lobby, you can enjoy coffee freely and relax at your leisure.

    The location and Onsen are excellent.

    The ocean view right in front is amazing! The room is spacious and comfortable. However, the smell of mold is quite strong. The interior features various toys and decorations, making it very unique and interesting. The Onsen is quite salty, but the open-air bath offers an incredible ocean view. Amenities can be chosen at the front desk as needed. Towels are also available; please replace them after each use—very thoughtful service! The staff were wonderful, always smiling and dedicated to their work.

    I went prepared after reading other reviews, but...

    I did not check the Reviews when making the Reservation and booked based solely on conditions and price. When I noticed the Reviews during the period when a Cancellation Fee would apply, I decided to proceed with my visit. Upon being guided by the welcoming staff and sitting on a sofa, I was greeted by an assortment of items such as "Chiikawa" merchandise, second-hand books, novelty glasses, a Whac-A-Mole game, hourglasses, and other miscellaneous objects that seemed unclear in their purpose or target audience. It matched what was described in the Reviews. The explanation provided by the reception staff was very thorough. The Room had two large TVs and two industrial air conditioners installed. One of them could have been smaller or even a household model as it seemed sufficient. As for meals, unlike some other Reviews mentioned, I didn’t find them bland. However, in the sashimi course featuring horse mackerel (aji), it was dry while the tuna tasted watery. There were two plates of assorted sashimi; one standard plate of sashimi assortment was delicious. Perhaps due to visiting after a typhoon when fresh ingredients might have been harder to procure—it felt unfortunate overall. On a positive note, the clam soup had rich flavor from its broth and was very satisfying. The meal service appeared to be handled by local housewives and student part-timers who were all kind and conveyed their earnest efforts to provide hospitality. The miscellaneous goods like second-hand books may have been brought together with good intentions to please guests—possibly aimed at local day-use visitors. It would be great if there were clearer messaging about who they aim to serve or what unique experience this Hotel wants to offer as its identity.

    A great Onsen for a family visit.

    Stayed here for the first time in 8 years. The location is excellent, and the onsen is wonderful. It's rare to find an onsen where you can enjoy the sound of waves while soaking. The free sightseeing guide was also a nice touch, offering stories I didn’t know about during my visit 8 years ago. I was aware that the building is old from my previous visit, but the room has been renovated with beds, leaving a better impression than before. However... The air freshener in the toilet filled the entire room with a strong scent, which was quite overwhelming. I tried wrapping it in a bath towel and moving it to the bathroom, but it was already too late. Since the toilet isn’t completely enclosed, the scent spreads into the room. I feel this could be improved and wanted to share my feedback here.

    Everything was excellent.

    A perfect blend of nostalgic Showa retro vibes. The soothing sound of wind chimes added a touch of coolness and evoked the charm of the Showa era. While the building shows its age, it was impeccably clean, the meals were absolutely delicious, and the staff were incredibly kind. Thanks to the beautiful lighting and relaxing sofas, I enjoyed gazing at the waves endlessly for the first time, creating a blissful experience. This is now my go-to accommodation!

    The only good thing is the view.

    This was my first visit to Inubosaki, and unfortunately, I wouldn't return. The main reason is the food—it lacked flavor and wasn't enjoyable. Perhaps because all the staff are older, the dishes were very bland, almost like hospital meals. Being near the sea, I had high hopes for delicious seafood, but it was disappointing. However, the staff's service was very earnest and commendable. Additionally, there was dust and trash in various areas of the Ryokan, which made it feel poorly maintained. There were many items on sale that gave off a flea market vibe—almost as if they brought unwanted items from home to display here. It left me wondering what this Ryokan aims to achieve. I believe a thorough internal restructuring is necessary for improvement.

    Insects

    My son was bitten by insects while sleeping, and when we returned on Sunday, he had over 30 red swollen spots. We had to rush to the hospital that night. The doctor mentioned it wasn’t caused by regular mosquitoes. The scenery was amazing, but better insect control is needed.

    It was really great.

    I was a little worried after reading the reviews, but despite being old, the property has charm and the location right in front of the sea is excellent. The staff are friendly and pleasant, and the bath made my skin smooth, making it a very good vacation. Since it was warm, I opened the room window slightly and relaxed while listening to the sound of waves; it was wonderful. I usually sleep lightly when staying out, but unusually I didn't wake up even once until morning. I would definitely like to visit again. Thank you very much.

    The building is old.

    The building was old and I didn't like it. The hot springs and meals were good. If asked whether I would want to stay again, I wouldn't want to.
