    I had a relaxing time.

    I visited with a friend who loves traveling. This was my third stay, and as always, the food was excellent, and the Onsen was amazing. My friend, visiting for the first time, also enjoyed it and went to the bath twice. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

    The warm and thought...

    The warm and thoughtful "omotenashi" from the locals was truly heartwarming. The room, Onsen, and meals were all very satisfying.

    Wonderful Accommodation

    We visited with my parents, my sister's husband, and their children. Last time I stayed here with my parents and had a wonderful experience, so this time I chose this accommodation hoping the kids would enjoy it—and they absolutely did! The elementary school-aged kids were fascinated by the armor and swords. They had so much fun trying on the armor since it's such a rare opportunity. The high schooler loved playing table tennis and was very satisfied with the delicious dinner. They also enjoyed fireworks, treasure hunting, and cake. For adults, there were plenty of services like sake tasting, wine, massage chairs—very much appreciated! Drinking ramune after a long time brought back nostalgic feelings. The dinner featuring local specialties like Yamagata beef and Tsuyahime rice was incredibly delicious. The breakfast included unique local dishes as well—it was delightful to try them all! The staff provided attentive and thoughtful service that made our stay truly pleasant. Thank you for taking care of us!

    For anniversaries

    This was my first visit to Akayu Onsen. The water was excellent, and for this special occasion, I stayed in a room with a private onsen bath. It was a relaxing and wonderful anniversary. Additionally, the stone-hunting adventure inside the accommodation was enjoyable. The meals, tableware, and presentation were visually delightful and delicious. An accommodation I would love to visit again!

    It is an old facility, but it is well-maintained.

    I have stayed here several times. As the title suggests, it is an old Facility but well-maintained. The service and hospitality are excellent. Above all, the bath is satisfying with great water quality and spaciousness. The meals focus on Yamagata specialties and are delicious. I look forward to staying again.

    View from the Room and Dining Options

    The room on the third floor felt a bit oppressive as the view from the window was of mountains. It would be nice if there was information about the view from the window on the reservation site. In the dining area, a lap blanket was provided, but cold air came up from below, making it chilly even after a bath. It would be nice to have a foot heater or hot carpet available. The property's onsen had an abundance of mineral deposits and was very pleasant, and I was impressed by historical items like helmets and armor in their archive, as well as battle surcoats that could be tried on, showcasing its rich history.

    Wild vegetables, potato stew... The Yamagata breakfast, a property with the thoughtfulness of the staff.

    The shuttle service from Akayu Station was delayed as some guests scheduled to be on the same vehicle were late, causing the driver some distress. However, he handled the situation with considerate and polite service, allowing us to visit the Sakai Winery as planned on the way there and still catch the Shinkansen on the way back. Upon arrival, we were immediately guided to the lounge and enjoyed a delicious warm burdock soup. The staff member who explained the services such as sake, wine, cake, and coffee in a very friendly manner also guided us to our room, saying, "This Sasabune room is very popular and hard to book," which we found to be true! The lovely Sasabune room offers a view of a splendid wooden garden with snow protection and a red hall (perhaps the Jizo Hall of Akayu Kannon?) beyond. We enjoyed our stay by the window with chairs and a table, savoring the welcome sake (Rokkasen, which is fruity and easy to drink) and the clear and delicious room coffee. Breakfast was spectacular, a quintessential Yamagata morning meal. Although I am not strong with alcohol, I got carried away with the smooth taste of Rokkasen and had some in the lobby as well, which limited my time at the Onsen to only after arrival and before dawn the next morning, not allowing me to fully enjoy it. I plan to strategize better next time to fully indulge in Gotenmori.

    Onsen is nice.

    This time, I chose the Ume Room. Last time, when I stayed in the Tsubaki Room, it was noisy because the noise from the lower floor could be heard upstairs, so I changed to a room in the back. This time, it was very quiet, and I was able to relax and unwind. However, it was disappointing that there was no long sofa and the bed was a single. The Onsen is always set to the perfect temperature, allowing you to enjoy it leisurely. Various services are also very wonderful. I would like to visit again next time to relax and unwind.

    There were complimentary sake and wine tastings, and the bath was excellent with water that warmed the body to the core. The meals were good, the service was excellent, and it's a property I would like to visit again.

    Heartwarming hospitality

    This is my second stay after a year. The bath, cuisine, and room are all wonderful, and above all, the hospitality and service of the staff are soothing. The explanation of the cuisine and the attentive care warmed my heart. I would like to stay again. Thank you very much.

    Enjoy famous hot springs and the taste of Yamagata.

    It was an onsen Stays I found for a nearby errand, not for sightseeing. Despite being a retro Ryokan that exudes history, what I liked the most was listening to the music (such as classical) playing inside, enjoying delicious meals, the bath associated with Uesugi Kenshin, and being warmly welcomed by Totoro, which was heartwarming and healing. There were various things like tasting plum wine and wine, and a cake service after dinner, but I was so full that I couldn't even try the cake, which I slightly regret (laughs). Since I checked in from the evening, I was quite full time-wise... I thought if you stay with more time to spare, you could enjoy it even more.
