    Hidden Hot Spring

    I had always wanted to visit, so I made the journey combined with Kinugawa Onsen. It took over two hours from Kinugawa Onsen by city bus and Shuttle Service, but the onsen was fantastic with many open-air baths, exceeding my expectations. However, the Room I reserved with a bed was cold (when I informed the front desk that the TV wasn't working, they sent someone to fix it who noticed the cold and kindly provided an additional fan heater). When I booked a private bath, the key wouldn't open it; they opened another private bath for me instead, but it was too lukewarm to use safely (it was snowing lightly), so I had to give up. Honestly speaking, the Facility left something to be desired. That said, the mixed-gender open-air bath and women-only open-air bath were wonderful. The view of snowy valleys and milky blue hot spring water gave off a secluded onsen vibe that felt truly special. In conclusion, it was worth visiting. It's such a great onsen that I hope more people will come and enjoy it!

    A serene retreat to enjoy cloudy hot springs in a cool atmosphere.

    After the Obon holiday, while temperatures in the lower regions were still around 36 to 37 degrees Celsius, this place felt like another world. No air conditioning needed, and you can fully enjoy the cloudy hot springs of Oku-Kinugawa. The meals are simple but more than sufficient for seniors.

    I wanted to leave a good review.

    This was my fifth visit. It seems the quality has declined with each visit. My first visit was about 50 years ago, and the Onsen was excellent back then. This time, I only used the mixed outdoor bath, but unfortunately, the outdoor bath I originally wanted to use had become women-only and was not accessible for men. My wife said the women-only outdoor bath was nice, but she found it unpleasant that there were a lot of hairs at the bottom of the indoor bath's tub. Overall, there seemed to be a shortage of staff. Considering the price, service in terms of hospitality, rooms, and meals did not meet expectations and was disappointing.

    Visited again.

    There are five hot spring sources, so the quality of the spring is rich, and there are many bathhouses, so it is not crowded. The meals are also very delicious, and the menu changes during a Multiple Night Stay. The only thing that doesn't change is the cheese gratin.

    The Onsen was excellent.

    Relaxing in the Onsen surrounded by nature... Even though the access was a bit difficult, it was the best Onsen that makes you want to visit again! The staff at the Facility were all kind, and I was able to refresh myself. I would like to visit again in the snowy season!

    Definitely worth a visit!

    After more than 20 minutes on a bumpy mountain road by shuttle bus, you will arrive at Kaniyu! It's a secluded inn deep in the mountains and by the river, perfect for truly enjoying the hot springs! The cloudy water and the unique hot spring minerals were quite rare and delightful! The open-air bath allows mixed bathing with the use of bath towels! The free private bath was too lukewarm, so I quickly got out and re-entered a bath with just the right temperature. Some baths were too hot, which was challenging, but it was great to enjoy different mineral hot springs! The meals featured many local ingredients, with a good variety of dishes, which was satisfying! The plan included a welcome drink, so I could choose a mug of beer, which was delicious! While waiting for the return shuttle bus, I ordered shaved ice, coffee, and juice, and enjoyed a relaxing time. The footbath next to the inn was also nice!
