The meals were excellent in both quality and portion size, and the woman who served us had a lovely, welcoming manner. The Facility was also great: the Room was spacious with a panoramic ocean view, and we were moved to see the sunrise rising above the horizon. It was a Room where four adults could relax comfortably. The in-room hair dryer was ReFa, which made my daughter very happy. We also appreciated the L’OCCITANE amenities in the Room—they were easy to use and a nice touch.

Piercing clouds, sunbeams strike the sea—Himi at the summer solstice.

A uniquely shaped Accommodation clings to a massive rocky hill beside the coastal national highway. The 4th to 6th floors sit atop the rock. I arrived in the rain and unloaded under the covered drop-off area, but neither bell staff nor front desk staff came out, so I carried my luggage myself. Check-in is done standing at the counter. Amenities and replacement loungewear are picked up at the front desk—just like a Business Hotel system. It’s probably due to limited staffing rather than a lack of hospitality. There are also international staff, but communication was not an issue. The self-serve coffee and soft-serve ice cream in the lobby quickly improved my mood. The written instructions handed out at the front desk are detailed and courteous. With a key card in hand, I headed to my Room; the long corridor really conveys how large the building is. Just as online reviews say, it’s a clean Room with an outstanding view (both IKYU and the official website are accurate). The in-room bath is a larger-than-average unit bath; it’s a shame it isn’t a view bath. The washroom area is slightly small. On the 4th floor there is a large public bath and an open-air bath. The restaurant is on the top floor. At “Dining Umi,” facing the sea, dishes are brought to your spacious table one after another. Allergy accommodations were flawless, and the cuisine was inventive and truly delicious; there also seem to be options for choosing a main dish and adding an all-you-can-drink plan. On the top floor’s non-ocean side are “Dining Honoo,” where you can grill seafood and meat yourself, and “Dining Tsuki,” lined with private rooms. At breakfast buffet time all guests gather, yet it never felt overly crowded. Check-out is also Business Hotel style.

    Air conditioning

I stayed in Room 610 for one night from July 19 to 20. The air conditioner is not cooling well; even when set to the maximum of 22°C, it barely cools. Possibly because of that, it was extremely noisy and I couldn’t sleep. Please repair it.

I stayed for one night on a solo trip. Shuttle Service to Himi Station is available. The building has a retro atmosphere. Facing the sea, you can enjoy the meals and baths while taking in the ocean view. As I was traveling alone, I was seated at an oceanfront counter, and I loved the menu list and the illustrations of each dish. Of course, the food itself was also very delicious. I used only the main building’s baths, but the open-air bath with an ocean view felt wonderful—the scenery and sea breeze were so refreshing. The next morning, I woke up early to see the sunrise and went back to the open-air bath. There were some clouds, but the sun appeared, creating a path of light across the water that seemed to stretch all the way to me—it was truly beautiful and moving. I had a wonderful time. Thank you very much.

    The views are spectacular.

If the weather is clear, you can see the Tateyama Mountain Range. The corridors feel historic, but the large public bath, meals, and lounge were excellent. I felt refreshed.

    The meals were excellent!

The Onsen, dinner, and breakfast were all satisfying. It would be nice if there were razors in the bathroom.

I wanted to eat soft-serve ice cream.

I had a normal dinner and was looking forward to soft-serve ice cream for dessert, but by the time I finished my meal, it was already a few minutes past the serving time, so I couldn’t have any and was disappointed.

    The view was wonderf...

The view was wonderful, the Room was spacious, and we were able to relax. The Hotel is a bit old, but the amenities and breakfast tableware had a modern touch. The front desk and other staff were also very helpful. One disappointing point was that dead insects had been left inside the Room’s light shade. If you notice this, removing them would help ensure future guests are not uncomfortable.

    A well-maintained, long-established Hotel

I stayed here because I was craving Himi seafood. It’s an older Hotel that has been expanded over the years, but that character is part of its charm. The Room was spacious and comfortable. The main building bath with a view over Toyama Bay was great, and guests can also use the annex “Shionokatei” rock bath for free—it had a wonderful hidden-Onsen feel and really gave me the atmosphere of staying at an Onsen Accommodation (though it was a bit hot for me). The dinner I’d been looking forward to—centered around red snow crab—was very tasty, and the portion size was just right. Dipping it in crab shell miso is great, but for some reason it came with a tomato hot pot, which didn’t feel like it matched and seemed a bit odd. The staff serving the meal seemed busy; their explanations were rather matter-of-fact and they didn’t smile, which stood out to me. People often say that service completes the dining experience, so that may be an area to improve. On the other hand, breakfast exceeded my expectations—I could enjoy a seafood rice bowl in the morning, which felt very luxurious. Overall, in my opinion, the price felt slightly on the high side.

It was cold inside the building.

First, the hallways inside the Hotel were freezing. Our Room was at the very end, and the seemingly endless hallway was cold, with only a small Dyson heater placed there (and it wasn’t even running). I told the front desk, but they said they weren’t ready or something? In Toyama in February—a cold region—that’s unacceptable! There was complimentary coffee and soft-serve ice cream in the lobby (the ice cream was delicious), and when I went there, other guests I met also said, “It’s cold, isn’t it?” Some were even wearing a scarf over their yukata (lol). Also, we took the shuttle bus from Himi Station, but no one came to greet us even after the bus arrived. Since most guests arrive by bus, wouldn’t a greeting be appropriate? At check-in there was only one staff member at first, so the first impression wasn’t good. The view from the bath—the Tateyama Mountain Range—was beautiful and wonderful. As for dinner, we had a winter yellowtail kaiseki course; however, I would have preferred an all–winter yellowtail menu without items like roast beef.

    First visit in 30 years

Over 30 years ago, I remember being impressed by the incredibly fresh squid served in the morning. This time, I had been wanting to visit the Toyama area for a while. However, it did not meet my expectations. I understand that times have changed. Being close to the fishing port, I was hoping for fresh sashimi, but...

    Honestly, it was disappointing.

The staff were all kind and very approachable. The open-air bath with an ocean view, which is a highlight of the Hotel, was pleasant even though the mountains were not visible. At the regular price, I think it would have been reasonably good. However, despite it being New Year's season, there was nothing festive about the food or atmosphere in the Hotel (not even a "Happy New Year" greeting), which left both my husband and me quite disappointed as we had been looking forward to it. Additionally, during our Multiple Night Stay, the breakfast buffet remained exactly the same for two days in a row. Even Business Hotels usually make some changes to their menu. It would be nice if they could consider guests staying for multiple nights. The Room also felt unnecessarily spacious without much purpose.

    Accommodation with an Excellent Location

The prepared room was a central room on the 6th floor facing the sea. Upon entering, I was amazed by the incredible view. Moreover, according to the guide from the Shuttle Service driver that day, it was one of those rare days—less than 30 days a year—when you could see the Tateyama Mountain Range clearly in front of you. This combination left me deeply impressed. I fully enjoyed this breathtaking view from the open-air bath in the large public bath before heading to dinner. My seat at dinner was also at a counter facing the sea. Although it was already dark and I couldn’t see much of the scenery, there was a stunning supermoon full moon visible instead. As for dinner, since it’s a large Hotel, my expectations weren’t high; however, I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious everything turned out to be! It was my first time trying tomato hot pot—it tasted almost like beef stew! The rice served at the end had just the right portion and flavor. The breakfast buffet next morning didn’t have an extensive variety but still offered very tasty options. Overall, every aspect of my stay exceeded expectations and provided immense satisfaction. Thank you for such an amazing experience—I will definitely visit again!

    Scenery, Onsen, Perfect

First time in Himi. We were blessed with dazzlingly sunny weather and visited to enjoy the Onsen and meals. We were guided to Room 552, and we were first impressed by the spaciousness of the room. The amenities and hospitality items were also wonderful. Thank you very much. The Onsen in the annex and the large public bath were great, but we loved the open-air bath in our room the most. This is not really an inconvenience, but we found it curious that while the toilet area was very spacious, there was no place to wash hands there. Also, while the food was delicious, for our age group, dinner portions felt too large to finish completely. Since our son accompanied us this time, I think everything was eaten without waste. It would be nice if meal portion sizes could be chosen as an option. Staying in such a wonderful room has become a cherished memory of this trip for us. Thank you for your hospitality!

    Tomato Hot Pot

I didn't expect to be served tomato hot pot and avocado cheese bake as the main dishes in Toyama Himi, known for its seafood. The Room was spacious, but the food was terrible. The appetizer "Tamatebako" felt like a random assortment and was dry. For 35,000 yen per person, it was not worth it. I will never go back.

    This was my second stay.

Stayed at the same accommodation as last year during the same period. Always impressed by the comfort of the room. As a soft-serve ice cream lover, having unlimited soft-serve is an automatic 100 points for me. The private bath in the room is on the hotter side, perfect for warming up a chilled body. The meals seemed slightly different from last time but were delicious again this time. The only issue was with an avocado dish where I couldn’t remove the cheese, which was challenging as I’m not fond of cheese... but that’s just personal preference! I feel their adventurous spirit in trying new Western-style dishes, likely catering to an older demographic. Breakfast included more pancakes this time, which made me very happy as someone with a sweet tooth. I look forward to staying here again next year!

A Ryokan in Himi with delicious meals

This Ryokan is located at the final stop of the Himi Line. While the Facility feels a bit old, it is kept very clean. The meals were creative Japanese cuisine with thoughtful touches and absolutely delicious. The tomato hot pot with Himi beef was exquisite, especially when wrapped in tomato slices. Adding Himi udon to the remaining tomato hot pot along with basil sauce, cheese, and shiso leaves was an unforgettable experience—I’m even considering trying it at home! There are two Onsen options: one within the Ryokan and another outside. Although reaching the outdoor Onsen requires a short uphill walk and is shared with day visitors and locals, the quality of the water was excellent. Enjoying soft-serve ice cream and coffee in the lounge added to our enjoyment as well. Thank you for celebrating my husband’s birthday—it made our stay even more special!

Enjoy breathtaking ocean and mountain views along with delicious cuisine.

Participated in training in Nanao, Ishikawa. This time, I stayed in Himi. The proximity to the sea was breathtaking. The room was comfortable. The meals were delightful with vibrant colors, freshness, and great taste. Since it was just my husband and me this time, we felt the portions were a bit large as we focused on enjoying drinks during dinner. It would be helpful if there were dinner options available at the time of reservation. A buffet or all-inclusive option would also be appreciated. Desserts and service made for a pleasant experience overall. Breakfast is highly recommended above all else! We enjoyed fresh seafood and pancakes while watching them being prepared—it was both fun and delicious. Next time, I’d like to visit privately with my grandchild and mother-in-law to enjoy the meals, scenery, and onsen. The free soft-serve ice cream and illy coffee were delicious!

    Impressive Cuisine

The dishes made with local ingredients were truly impressive. While the building and baths are a bit old, they were kept very clean. The dinner menu, "Toyama Bay Treasure Box," was fresh and delicious. The Himi beef tomato hot pot was uniquely flavorful and unforgettable. The self-serve seafood bowl at breakfast was so good that I went back for seconds. The view of the sea just after sunrise from the breakfast venue's window left a lasting impression as well.

    Excellent meals

Both dinner and breakfast were absolutely excellent. The use of local cuisine was abundant and fantastic. Two requests: We would like pockets in the Room wear to store items like smartphones. The outdoor bath on a rainy morning had lukewarm water due to the rain. Please make it hotter in the morning.

    Accommodation surrounded by nature.

It was an accommodation with great hospitality. The cleaning was spotless. The dinner and the natural hot spring bath were particularly excellent. I also enjoyed the illy coffee and soft serve ice cream, both of which were delicious. The view from the dining area was breathtaking. Since it is an accommodation surrounded by nature, there are insects around. A cute cricket appeared in the room.

You can see the Tateyama Mountain Range!

The view from the window of the Tateyama Mountain Range and sunrise is truly satisfying. However, it’s a bit disappointing that the window frame obstructs the view when sitting on the sofa. Dinner was expected to feature fresh seafood, but due to poor catches... The underground rock bath was absolutely fantastic!

    Everyone was satisfied.

The room was spacious and very relaxing. Although we initially opted out of dinner, we requested it upon arrival. The dinner was very delicious, and our entire family was extremely satisfied. The breakfast buffet the next morning was also tasty, and both the facility and meals were excellent.

    The service was very...

The service was very polite and friendly, leaving a good impression. However, the taxi arranged through the accommodation had a driver with extremely poor manners. While this is not the fault of the accommodation, it negatively impacted the overall travel experience. It would be appreciated if more attention could be given to taxis arranged by the accommodation. Additionally, I had breakfast at the accommodation but found that sushi from Himi Banya Street's sushi restaurant tasted better.

    Great view

The exterior of the Hotel felt a bit dated when we arrived at the parking lot, which made us slightly anxious. However, the interior was modern and clean, with a touch of luxurious Showa-era charm. The lobby was calm and relaxing, and the soft-serve ice cream and Illy coffee were absolutely delicious. Although clouds covered much of the view, we could see glimpses of the Tateyama Mountain Range through breaks in the clouds, fulfilling our trip's purpose to our great satisfaction. We heard that winter offers an even clearer view—so we’d love to visit again during that season! The Onsen was excellent. The detached Onsen had a secluded atmosphere reminiscent of hidden hot springs, which added to its charm (though opinions may vary). The meals were incredibly delicious and featured many local specialties from Himi, showcasing regional pride that we deeply appreciated. A small but thoughtful touch was providing baskets for carrying items to the bath and socks for comfort—these details made our stay more pleasant. If there’s one area for improvement: it would be nice if room wear could be more stylish or if yukata were included without an extra charge. This trip became truly memorable thanks to the warm hospitality of everyone in Himi (at places like Himi Banya-gai Market, Shishimai Museum, Tsukiagari Pavilion, Himi Showakan Museum). Thank you so much!

The view of Toyama Bay was beautiful.

We enjoyed a relaxing time with a view of Toyama Bay. Complimentary illy coffee and soft serve ice cream were available, which delighted the children. The dinner was delicious, allowing us to savor the flavors of Toyama. This time, we used it as a base for traveling from Himi City to Noto Island, but it’s also great for sightseeing in Toyama. Although we didn’t use the rock bath this time, we look forward to trying it on our next visit.

    I felt very relaxed.

I stayed to see Amaharashi Coast. Although the layout might be a bit confusing, the interior was clean and had a sense of cleanliness, allowing for a pleasant stay. The abundant hot water, large bath with an ocean view, and open-air bath were very enjoyable, and I used them multiple times. The staff's words of consideration made me feel at ease. Breakfast was served in a restaurant with an ocean view, allowing for a relaxing meal. I truly felt relaxed at this property during my stay. It was a property that made me want to visit again when I go to Himi (Himi).

Open-air bath with a spectacular view

The cleanliness and the service provided by the staff were excellent, allowing us to relax during our stay. The meals were delicious, but since there was a mix of Japanese and Western cuisine, I believe many guests might think, "Since we're in Hokuriku..." Therefore, having a dinner mainly focused on Japanese cuisine might further highlight the charm of the property. However, the Western dishes were also of high quality, and the attention to detail in each dish truly stood out, making me genuinely feel that this is a wonderful property. Thank you for your hospitality, everyone!
