    It’s okay, I guess.

I stayed in a Room with an open-air bath. On the downside, I couldn’t use shampoo or similar amenities in the open-air bath, and the Room itself felt old. The meals were delicious, and the attached stone bath had a nice traditional atmosphere. If you’re expecting an open-air bath experience, I recommend confirming that it matches what you’re looking for before making a Reservation.

    Not worth the price.

Dinner was crab. I was really looking forward to it, but it was average. The Onsen is also far from the Room, which can feel a bit inconvenient even for Onsen lovers. The welcome bar was well stocked. The staff were very kind and helpful. However, to be honest, it felt average for the price.

    Highly satisfied

The staff were extremely kind and helpful whenever we needed assistance (such as giving us a tour of the facilities and lending us tools to clear snow from our car). At dinner, the timing of each course being served in order was excellent—they seemed to watch our pace as we enjoyed drinks and ate slowly. I was impressed by their professional attentiveness.

    Seeking too much rationality?

I decided on this Onsen Ryokan for a sudden trip to the San'in region. While I had some concerns about the cost-performance ratio, unfortunately, my stay ended with disappointment. The staff I interacted with were polite and accommodating, even when I needed to change the number of guests after booking, which I appreciated. However, it seemed like there was a lack of manpower as certain areas clearly showed signs of cutting corners. When staying at an Onsen Ryokan, one expects relaxation and hospitality. Yet here, most processes like check-in, check-out, and facility guidance were completed via smartphone. The casual approach mentioned on their website made sense after experiencing it firsthand. Upon entering the room, while it was understandable that futons were already laid out, cleanliness left much to be desired—especially the windows—and there was an unpleasant odor that was hard to identify (seafood? crab? Onsen?). It was simply uncomfortable. As for meals, while portions were generous, the flavors didn’t match expectations based on appearance in a negative way. For instance, sashimi—which is typically served early in a meal—was brought out just before dessert here and came with carrot sauce instead of regular soy sauce for dipping; traditional soy sauce would have been better suited in my opinion. I heard this Ryokan has 70 years of history and tradition behind it; however, there’s a noticeable gap between its potential charm and how it's currently managed that left me feeling confused during my stay.

It is not a high-class option.

As the title suggests, this Hotel is not high-class by any means. The meals, in particular, are terrible.

    Dinner was disappointing.

We chose this accommodation with a private open-air bath in the room and meals for our family celebration. At the entrance, you take off your shoes, but since there is no shoe rack, you need to put them in a plastic bag and bring them to your room. The meals served were not as shown in the photos. Since it was a special occasion, we opted for what was described as a premium course featuring meat, but the Tottori Wagyu roast beef consisted of only two slices. When we confirmed with the staff about the discrepancy between the photos and the course details, they stated that this was their only Wagyu menu option. It was disappointing. Lastly, when checking my bill online before completing payment, I noticed charges for drinks we never ordered; honestly, I feel like they should have reduced our total instead. It felt deceiving.

There won't be a second stay.

Negative Points: 1. Guests had to carry their shoes in a plastic bag to the room. 2. The air conditioner in the room was too noisy, making it hard to sleep. 3. The sound of water filling the open-air bath attached to the room disturbed sleep. 4. The quality of the meals was surprisingly poor. 5. The bed placement in the room made it difficult to relax and watch TV comfortably. I usually don't write negative reviews, but this time I decided to share my experience for the first time. Best wishes to the accommodation staff!

    I stayed in a Japane...

I stayed in a Japanese-Western style room with an open-air bath. Upon entering the room, there was a strong musty smell, and even after opening the windows immediately, it did not improve. Regarding meals, I had informed the accommodation in advance about my alcohol allergy and requested to exclude alcoholic beverages. The accommodation even called to confirm this beforehand. However, during dinner, a pear wine aperitif was served. When I checked with the staff member, it turned out not to be non-alcoholic. As dinner was served in the room, I was instructed to use the intercom phone to call for meal service. However, the intercom phone had no signal and could not connect. When I went to the front desk as a last resort, they casually said, "The intercom doesn't work; please call this number using your own phone." Additionally, one of the staff members spilled soy sauce on our tatami mat but did not return for over 10 minutes after saying they would come back to clean it up. Concerned that it might stain the tatami mat further due to delay and combined with frustration from waiting amidst an already musty-smelling environment mixed now w/soy sauce aroma lingering around—ultimately ended up cleaning myself instead! Choosing this accommodation turned out disappointing experience overall leaving behind sad memories instead!

    Charming Ryokan

The Ryokan had a nostalgic atmosphere, and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. I also appreciated the opportunity to compare sweet and dry sake, and the food was absolutely delicious.

    Enjoyed the bath.

Since my wife cannot go to the large public bath alone, we have been using a Room with a private open-air bath recently. We were very satisfied as we could enjoy the open-air bath together while I supported her. The Room was too spacious for just the two of us, so next time we would like to use it with more people.

    A Satisfying Dinner with Smiles

Stayed on May 4th during Golden Week. Enjoyed the welcome drinks, which included sake and soft drinks. For dinner, we ordered a beef and crab kaiseki meal in the banquet hall. The dishes served were delicious, featuring crab and Tottori Wagyu teppanyaki. The staff serving the food were young, friendly gentlemen who provided excellent service. The additional squid sashimi platter was also very tasty. Would love to visit again!

    It was a wonderful accommodation.

I wanted to relax in an Onsen in an unfamiliar place, so I chose this accommodation at Kaike Onsen, a destination I had never visited before. The service was attentive, and the daily-changing luxurious Japanese Kaiseki cuisine was absolutely satisfying. After checking in, welcome drinks were available in the lounge, including tea, coffee, and even sake. I selected a plan with a private open-air bath, and being able to enjoy the bath anytime without worrying about others was fantastic. The large public bath included both indoor and open-air baths as well as a sauna—everything you could need was provided. As the building has historical significance, its overall structure is old-fashioned; personally, I found it charming. However, those sensitive to noise might find it less ideal from a soundproofing perspective.

    グッキーグッキー

The worst accommodation I have ever stayed at.

The heating of the air conditioner did not work even when set to 30 degrees, and while the bedroom was manageable, the room with the sofa was too cold to stay in. Additionally, only lace curtains were provided, making it unsuitable for spending time on the sofa. Dinner was reserved as in-room dining, but all dishes were brought at once initially, resulting in eating cold steamed egg custard which was not tasty. For breakfast, the grated yam tasted overly salty as if a mistake had been made during preparation. Although smart check-in and check-out were available, it was too complicated and troublesome for first-time users. While the interior appearance of the facility is good, I would never stay here again.

    Unfortunately

It seems that the building was originally owned by a notable person, and it is an impressive structure. The Room is spacious, and there are creative features such as an open-air bath installed in the hallway. As for the meals, the seasoning is quite strong, which might not be suitable for those with high blood pressure. The breakfast menu appears to have remained unchanged for years, showing a lack of effort.

    I was very satisfied.

The Japanese garden and historical Japanese-style architecture, along with the spacious Room, made for a truly enjoyable stay. I felt that the Property has been renovated to suit the current era while preserving its historical aspects. The food was delicious, and the Onsen had a sauna and the latest hairdryer, and the Room had a nano-care steamer, which exceeded my expectations. I was also pleased with the sake and drink service in the lounge. My mother, who accompanied me, was very pleased. Thank you very much.

    I was able to relax.

I have stayed at various Ryokan in Kaike Onsen, and this one is also highly recommended. They treated us with kindness and attention. Thank you very much.

    It was good.

This is my second stay. I had a good experience last time, so I decided to stay again. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, and the room was spacious and nice. I was pleased that the room bath had both a bathtub and a washing area. On the day I stayed, it was quiet and I could relax, perhaps because it wasn't crowded. However, while there were facial wash and cleansing foam in the room, it would have been nice to have them in the large public bath as well.

    It was cold~

The garden and building are Japanese and lovely, but the long corridor is filled with various furnishings that lack a sense of unity, giving the impression of a foreign Japanophile collecting items from an antique shop in a haphazard manner. It feels unsettling and creates a mysterious space. The Room is spacious but dimly lit, and feels chilly for two people. It was a cold day in midwinter, so perhaps it couldn't be helped, but the heating was poor, and it was just cold! The thin haori over the yukata was not enough to keep warm, so I wore my own coat the whole time. The door to the open-air bath was poorly fitted, making it difficult for the elderly to open it alone. The meal was "casual kaiseki," so it was casual. Drink orders were made from our own phones. However, they took a long time to arrive, and in the end, we had to call the staff to bring them. It would be better to raise the price a little to improve the room heating, repair the fittings, increase the number of dinner staff, and provide winter haori. The welcome drink in the lobby was nice.

    Suitable for all age groups.

The meals are delicious and offer great value for money. The Room was a Western-style twin, but there was no table or dresser to place our bags, so we had to put our luggage (bags) on the floor. There was one place to put a bag, but for makeup, it felt like we had to use the washbasin in the system bath. Also, the chairs in the large public bath were only about the height for children, which was too low for us, making it difficult to sit and stand. The air conditioner made a noise like a machine scraping, which was bothersome and woke me up, although I could understand the sound of the wind. There were relatively uneven temperatures throughout the building, making it cold. However, overall, the value for money is good, so if there is an opportunity, I look forward to visiting again to see if there have been any improvements.

It was a room with a semi-open-air bath, but for some reason, a black curtain was hung, obstructing the view almost completely. There were so many white clumps on the window frame that it was surprising, and it was unclear if it was even cleaned. There is a simple shower room inside as there are no amenities like shampoo, but water leaks heavily from the gap in the door, so even though the door appears closed to the naked eye... When inquired, they said such a thing had never happened before. Even when the water pressure is reduced, it leaks, and although someone who seemed to be in charge came twice, it was not resolved. Moreover, the simple shower and the semi-open-air bath are in the same room but too far apart, making it very inconvenient to use. The cleaning was not thorough, so there was a lot of dust around the bedside switch, and I ended up cleaning it with the alcohol wipes I brought. There is no towel rack around the sink, so towels are placed directly on the sink. Moreover, there is only one towel for two people, which is extremely unsanitary. Inside the facility, you are supposed to change into slippers, but when asked, the staff said it doesn't matter if you are barefoot or in slippers. It's too vague and confusing. Is this really Japan? Lastly, regarding the meals, they are served at a very fast pace. Even if dinner starts at 6 PM, it is served in a factory line manner. Perhaps because of this, the appearance and taste lack sophistication. Is there a fishing port nearby? The presentation of the sashimi is so poor that it's shocking, and the sashimi is served towards the end. There are many more things I would like to convey, but I will stop here to avoid a long text.

It is a very charming and lovely Ryokan.

A wonderful Ryokan with excellent hospitality from check-in, where I was able to relax and unwind from daily fatigue. The corridors were adorned with splendid furnishings and uchikake, making even the walk to the Room an enjoyable experience. The meals were delicious, and I would definitely like to stay again when visiting Yonago.

    I was extremely satisfied.

The inn is very elegant, and the interior is a concentrated expression of Japanese culture. Moreover, the free drink corner even offers alcohol, and the service is thorough, which made me very satisfied. There is an open-air bath and a cypress sauna, and I was extremely relaxed while enjoying the Japanese garden and taking a bath. I would love to come again. The food was also very delicious.

    A lovely traditional inn

I stayed at a traditional inn with this kind of charm for the first time in a while. It was quite nice. The building is old. There was a water leak from the air conditioner vent on the ceiling of the room where we had the welcome drink. I looked up and thought it might be time for repairs. It was a long way to the bath, but that was fun too. The rooms along this corridor seem quite old. (Have they been renovated inside?) In the room's washroom, was it toothpaste? Was it splattered? Or was the earthen wall peeling off? I couldn't tell. When I looked up at the ceiling, there was a lot of hair stuck to it, lol. The cleaning of the room's veranda was not great, with hair falling around... well, maybe it's not too bad since I have presbyopia? The food was delicious.
