Because we decided on our trip to Lake Toya at the last minute, I didn’t think we would be able to make a Reservation at a good Hotel. Since May is one of the peak seasons for travel in Japan, I wasn’t expecting much. But after staying there, the Hotel quality exceeded my expectations. I especially loved the dinner buffet. There was an incredible variety of dishes, and many were far better than I anticipated. I ate too much and ended up walking outside for hours afterward to feel better (laugh). Breakfast was more standard compared with dinner, but still very satisfying. As for the Onsen, “Hoshi no Yu” was truly outstanding—I highly recommend trying it at least once. Waking up early to use it was a bit tough, but it was absolutely worth it. The feeling of seeing Mt. Yotei from the Onsen in the morning is hard to put into words. It was truly spectacular.

Overall, the property feels a bit dated. The Room was dark, and I would like more lighting. There were no welcome sweets—were they forgotten? At the breakfast venue, the male staff member who greeted us cheerfully left a great impression!

    It was a memorable trip.

Ever since we visited Lake Toya on our honeymoon, we had hoped to return someday, and we finally came back together as a couple to celebrate my 60th birthday. The Hotel staff celebrated with us, making it a truly heartwarming and unforgettable anniversary. Thank you very much. Next time, we will bring our children as well. Dinner, breakfast, the Onsen, and the fireworks were all wonderful.

    The meals are excellent!

I stayed at Lakeside Terrace for the first time. It was very popular and difficult to make a reservation, but I managed to secure one by adjusting the timing. The room had a great view of the lake, and the scenery was amazing. Above all, the food was incredibly delicious and impressive. The dinner buffet was outstanding. I would love to visit again!

A Long-Awaited Stay at Lake Toya

Stayed at the hotel with a friend during a visit to Lake Toya after decades. Considering the price, the meals were excellent. In Kanto, even paying for accommodation for two people wouldn't provide meals of this level. The cleanliness was impeccable, though it couldn't completely overcome aging. Amenities are minimal, so bringing your own might be a good idea if you're particular. As our purpose was to watch fireworks, it turned out to be a highly satisfying stay. I would consider staying again if I have another opportunity.

    Cost-effective Accommodation

Fireworks could be enjoyed up close from the room. The room, though a standard type, was spacious and comfortable for a relaxing stay. Both breakfast and dinner buffets offered a wide variety of dishes with good quality. However, alcoholic beverages and some soft drinks at the dinner buffet were charged separately, and there was always a long line at the free soft drink machine. It would be appreciated if more machines could be added to avoid crowding in one spot. Due to heavy rain, check-in was delayed, and perhaps because of the congestion, I was asked to choose between 6:30 or 7:00 AM for breakfast. As someone who struggles with early mornings, this was quite challenging. While it’s possible to eat later by waiting in line, it might affect travel plans if delayed too much; hence I made an effort to arrive by 7:00 AM but couldn’t relax as much as I’d hoped. It seems like the restaurant capacity may not fully accommodate all guests comfortably. The Onsen was pleasant and refreshing, and despite some inconveniences with dining arrangements, considering the accommodation cost overall value for money is excellent!

The East Wing was very satisfying, but the soundproofing in the Central Wing needs improvement.

【Facility】 The café and lounge with views of Lake Toya are absolutely lovely! The footbath is also very relaxing. On the first night, I stayed on the 6th floor lakeside of the East Wing and was extremely satisfied. Both the bed and futon were comfortable, and the soundproofing was excellent. However, on the second night, I moved to a lakeside room on the 6th floor of the Central Wing, hoping for a better lake view. Unfortunately, it was slightly older with almost no soundproofing; I could hear all noises like chairs moving or footsteps from above and next door. It made it hard to nap during the day or sleep well at night. 【Meals】 The breakfast and dinner buffet offered a wide variety of options with fresh ingredients, which was very satisfying. 【Public Bath】 Overall satisfactory; however, if using a mat under your seat in the sauna is required, there should be a guide sheet near the door saying "Please use a mat." When I entered without knowing this rule, staff pointed it out in Japanese. Many non-Japanese-speaking tourists seemed confused as this isn't common knowledge even in Japan nor known by foreign visitors.

I plan to visit every year.

I recently visited Toyako Onsen after a long time. The town feels a bit quiet, but that's typical for onsen areas in Hokkaido. I usually visit Noboribetsu Onsen, but decided to try something different this time. The view of Lake Toya and Mount Yotei from the bath was truly picturesque and relaxing. The meals were buffet-style, but I enjoyed selecting dishes that I don't usually get to eat, which was satisfying. The room was a spacious Western-style room with great comfort, offering a refreshing stay that changed my previous impression of the place. It helped me recharge and feel ready to tackle the new year ahead. Including Manseikaku Hotel, I plan to visit once a year from now on. Thank you very much!

    The sauna is amazing.

The saunas, both those attached to the bath and the pool, were excellent. We stayed in a special room this time, and although we received a call from the Hotel beforehand advising us to reserve parking near the entrance, upon arrival we were directed to park at the farthest lot. It seems there was some miscommunication, which was disappointing. If that was the case, it would have been better not to make such a call in advance.

    The fireworks were amazing!

Check-in was easy using the terminal. There was a small lounge where I enjoyed some coffee. They were also selling cakes. The room was spacious and had a lake view! The view was amazing. My stay coincided with the Toyako Onsen Winter Fireworks Festival. The fireworks were right in front of the room, and it was absolutely fantastic. The smoked trout from Kojohama, chicken, mackerel, freshly made tempura, and pizza were all very delicious. Passing through the curtain of the large public bath, there was a shampoo bar. It was great to be able to try different shampoos of my choice! The sound of the river flowing could be heard from the room, providing constant relaxation. I would love to stay again.

    Good value for money

The building itself seems old, but it has been beautifully renovated to not give that impression, and it was clean and well-maintained. I came for the sauna, but the bath was also very nice. The sauna on the top floor might be a bit too hot. The meals, both dinner and breakfast, were very delicious. With a buffet of this scale, the lineup tends to be broad but shallow, but I felt a strong sense of attention to detail. Overall, I thought it was good. It's a candidate for a repeat visit.

    The hot spring is excellent.

I stayed for one night with my elderly mother. It was a large hotel with many guests, but we were able to relax everywhere except the buffet venue. The large public bath offered a panoramic view of Lake Toya, and the quality of the hot spring water was excellent. The room seemed to have been renovated, as it was very clean and well-maintained, making it comfortable. At the buffet venue, you place a sign on your table indicating that you are dining, but despite securing a seat by the lake, perhaps the sign's meaning wasn't clear to foreigners, as when I returned with my food, a Korean couple was sitting and eating at the seat I had reserved.

    Overall, it was good.

It was my first time at Manseikaku, and I was delighted to be given a room on the 6th to 8th floors. The baths were great, especially the underground bath and the rooftop bath in the west building, which were very pleasant. The fireworks at night were also soothing. I enjoyed the buffet for both dinner and breakfast. I thought the morning rice balls could be made a bit easier for foreigners to understand. The juice options were only labeled in Japanese, which seemed to confuse some foreign guests. One thing that concerned me was during the breakfast buffet, a male staff member suddenly stopped in the middle of the aisle and was talking on his intercom. When he suddenly turned around, he bumped into a woman but didn't apologize and instead glared at her. I wonder about that behavior.
