I wouldn’t want to stay here again.

I appreciated the Shuttle Service to Nikko Station, but everything else was below expectations. Dinner was a kaiseki meal and fairly average, and I was disappointed that there was only a pot of cold water instead of warm tea. Breakfast was nothing special, and it was disappointing that the tea came in instant powder sticks. There were no memo pads or pens in the room, and no clock either. I’m not comfortable with yukata, and it kept coming undone while I slept, waking me up several times. Overall, this Accommodation felt lacking in attentiveness, and I think it would be better to learn more from other Accommodations.

Perfect for sightseeing around Nikko Toshogu Shrine!

We stayed in a Special Room with an open-air bath. We visited as a family on a trip to Nikko Toshogu Shrine. With the great location, reasonable price, and delicious meals, it was excellent value for money, and our whole family was very satisfied. It’s less than a 10-minute walk to Nikko Toshogu Shrine. You can leave your car at the Accommodation and walk there. Meals were served in a private dining room: dinner was a course meal, and breakfast was a set meal where you could choose grilled fish (at the time: mackerel, horse mackerel, sillago, or Pacific saury). Everything tasted great, and being able to relax in a private room made it even more enjoyable—our family loved it. Perhaps because the Facility is older, we could hear noises like chairs being dragged on the floor from upstairs, and the Room itself also felt dated, but it was not uncomfortable at all. As for the large public bath, there were two options: an indoor bath and an open-air bath. The water temperature was just right, and our skin felt nicely moisturized afterward. However, the open-air bath offers relatively little privacy. Although it is located on the 6th floor, cars are clearly visible below, so it may be visible from outside. I understand this may be difficult due to the view requirements of an open-air bath area; however, personally I found it hard to fully relax unless measures are taken—such as using more frosted glass or adding plants—to reduce visibility. Overall we were very satisfied. The staff provided wonderful service and kindly accommodated our requests. Our family was happy as well, and we were able to have an amazing trip. Thank you very much.

Convenient for sightseeing at Toshogu Shrine

I chose this Accommodation for its convenient access to Toshogu Shrine. Perhaps because many international guests stay here in large groups, the Room was spacious and comfortable. I was also happy that I managed to have the large public bath all to myself at just the right time. Breakfast was refreshingly different—you can choose from four kinds of grilled fish (I think), and there were plenty of dishes, so I was satisfied. If I had to mention a couple of concerns: the bath towel had a smell I didn’t like, and there was a long list of guests’ surnames displayed at the entrance. Considering that someone could take a photo and post it on social media for the whole world to see, it didn’t feel comfortable having names written where all guests could see them. (Maybe I’m just overly sensitive about it…)

    The view is excellent.

Shuttle service to Tobu Nikko Station is available (Reservation required). I stayed for one night, and since I checked out on a weekday, it was very quiet. The bath and dining area were also peaceful, allowing me to relax. It’s only a 5-6 minute walk to Toshogu Shrine, making it very convenient. From the room, large public bath, and open-air bath, you can enjoy views of the river. The meals were delicious, and the dessert included about four varieties—leaving me completely full! It might feel slightly insufficient for men but is just right for women. The alcohol options are reasonably priced as well. One disappointing point was that there was no welcome drink; after breakfast drinks were limited to tea; and only tea was provided in the room. What stood out as excellent was the staff's smiles—they were absolutely wonderful!

    Great accommodation!

Great accommodation! In addition to its excellent location right in front of Toshogu Shrine, the meals were plentiful and delicious, and I could relax in the bath. On the departure day, they kindly allowed us to leave our car while we went sightseeing, which was incredibly helpful! If I ever visit Nikko again, I would definitely stay here.

    Great accessibility.

This time, our purpose was visiting Rinnoji Temple, so the location was great as it was within walking distance. From the station, we enjoyed exploring shops along the way. Although it was an uphill walk, we managed without using a taxi. When we arrived, it was hot, and we wished there had been a welcome drink available. The staff members, including those from overseas, explained everything earnestly and seemed to be doing their best. Occasionally they spoke too quickly for us to catch everything clearly. We stayed in a room with an open-air bath; the room was very spacious and allowed us to relax completely. For breakfast, we could choose dried fish that they grilled fresh and served hot—it was delicious!

Walking distance to Nikko Toshogu Shrine.

A traditional Ryokan. The room had a cypress bath, allowing for a relaxing soak without needing to visit the large communal bath. The meals were delicious and quite plentiful, providing the necessary calories for walking to the inner shrine of Nikko Toshogu. This accommodation is perfect for visiting Nikko Toshogu.

It is not a luxurious facility, but it was a very pleasant accommodation.

This was my first time using this accommodation. It is a medium-sized facility. I arrived by car and was guided to park properly. Check-in inside was also smooth. The bath, including both indoor and open-air options, was not very large but well-maintained and clean, with the perfect temperature in the open-air bath making it very pleasant. The staff appeared to be foreign trainees, but they were well-trained and very professional. The meals were just the right amount and delicious. The room was thoroughly cleaned and comfortable to stay in. While a private family bath would have been nice for my daughter’s family with their child, we didn’t feel inconvenienced at all. Overall, it was a very satisfying accommodation experience!

Perfect for a three-generation summer vacation.

I have visited the Nikko and Kinugawa areas several times, but my trips to Nikko were usually quick visits to temples before heading back. At the request of my mother, who enjoys haiku and wanted to take her time exploring Nikko, we decided on Tsuru Kame Daikichi as it is close to both Rinnoji Temple and the Imperial Villa. The name of the accommodation itself feels auspicious, and their kind yet unobtrusive hospitality allowed us to relax. Although it rained on and off during our stay, they kindly lent us umbrellas, which was very helpful. The meals were delicious and left us completely satisfied. We also enjoyed a fun moment with a coin-operated fortune dispenser that included not only "Daikichi" (great fortune) but also unique fortunes like "Chokichi" (long-lasting health), which brought smiles to our family with its playful touch. Thank you very much!

    Fortune-Boosting Accommodation

We decided to take a trip with friends to a lucky direction and chose Nikko for the first time in 9 years. Without much thought, we picked an accommodation near Toshogu Shrine, and it turned out to be the perfect choice! At the entrance, we were greeted with "Good Fortune" messages everywhere. Our room was called "Daifuku" (Great Fortune)! We enjoyed delicious meals, soaked in the onsen, and spent luxurious moments at this wonderful accommodation. In the open-air bath of the large public bath, even though it was still July, cicadas were chirping, creating a refreshing atmosphere. I ended up soaking in the onsen four times before leaving! Blessed with great weather, we had an excellent feng shui trip. Choosing this lucky accommodation has made us excited about what good fortune awaits!

    The location is excellent.

Stayed for sightseeing at Nikko Toshogu Shrine. The bus stop is nearby, and Shinkyo Bridge and Toshogu Shrine are all within walking distance, allowing for a pleasant early morning stroll when it's less crowded. The food was delicious, and the open-air bath was very satisfying. It turned out to be a trip full of good fortune and blessings!

    The location is exce...

The location is excellent, allowing us to fully enjoy the surrounding shrines of Toshogu in one day. The round-trip Shuttle Service to the station was very helpful. The staff were all kind and attentive. The meals were particularly impressive, served in private rooms where we could quietly and leisurely enjoy both dinner and breakfast. Everything was incredibly delicious. We are extremely satisfied!

    A splendid Ryokan

The food is abundant and delicious, and being able to enjoy it in a semi-private room without worrying about others' eyes is greatly appreciated. The staff are very kind, and I was impressed by the foreign staff making great efforts to speak Japanese. If there is a slight drawback, it would be the dust noticeable in the corners of the Room and the washroom.

    Showa Era Atmosphere!

The shuttle service from the station was truly helpful, and the explanations were a nice bonus! When making the Reservation, I requested a high-floor Room but was assigned to the 3rd floor out of 2nd to 5th floors. If it had been on the 4th or 5th floor, perhaps it wouldn't have been a view of utility poles. There were some dead insects, and the toilet tank looked black and unpleasant. Additionally, it felt dark and scary. While I understand there are no slippers in tatami Rooms, there were also no socks provided, making the wooden flooring very cold. Amenities included toothbrushes and razors but no body towels; instead, there were thin disposable towels reminiscent of older times. The bath towel was large but thin with a brownish color that lacked a sense of cleanliness. Although several sizes of yukata seemed available, having samue (casual Japanese wear) would be appreciated as yukata can be uncomfortable for sleeping. There were also no tissues in the washroom; however, this Room did have two sinks available. For skincare products like lotion or toner, they could only be found in the public bath area (guests need to bring their own towels from their Rooms). No bottled water was provided; instead, ice water was prepared in a pot—raising hygiene concerns. Both dinner and breakfast tasted average—not too sweet nor salty—but dessert was unappetizing despite being filling overall. Since we chose one of their "Five Special Benefits Plans," we enjoyed an after-dinner drink (any choice allowed), opting for dry sake which tasted excellent! However, post-breakfast coffee arrived slightly lukewarm. We received ¥1,000 worth of vouchers for use within Hotel facilities as part of our Plan—perfect for getting souvenirs—but found trying out gacha machines unnecessary wasteful fun! Early check-in services added convenience during our stay. Seasonally speaking: fresh greenery alongside blooming wisteria flowers complemented by crystal-clear river views below created refreshing scenery throughout our visit here—a nostalgic Showa-era atmosphere combined with exceptionally kind staff makes this Hotel ideal if you're seeking such experiences!

    It was excellent.

The stay was very comfortable. The Facility is not brand new but has been renovated, so it didn’t feel old and was clean. The Room had a view of the river, which was very relaxing. All the staff were kind and helpful. The location for sightseeing is excellent, allowing for a leisurely morning while still being able to visit attractions before they get crowded.

Perfect Accommodation for the New Year!

I chose this Accommodation for New Year’s because it has so many auspicious names—“Kozuchi,” “Crane,” “Turtle,” and “Great Fortune”—and I thought, surely there can’t be another place like it! We arrived around 11:30 on the day of check-in, and they kindly let us park early. Thanks to that, we were able to head straight out to visit Nikko Toshogu Shrine, Futarasan Shrine, and Rinnoji Temple. The Accommodation is in a very convenient location. Since it was cold outside, we came back around 14:30. Even though it was still early, they promptly handled our check-in and showed us to our Room, so we could relax comfortably until dinner time. There were two of us staying, and the Room was very clean. The beds could be pushed together, which made it feel spacious and relaxing. The toilet and bath were separate as well, and there were even two sinks! The view from the Room and the sound of the river were also very soothing. We didn’t book meals here, but what I looked forward to most was the Onsen. We hardly ran into any other guests inside (there definitely were other guests staying), so we could enjoy both the indoor bath and open-air bath almost as if they were private. You can also check how busy it is via a QR code. The starry sky from the open-air bath was stunning—I couldn’t have been happier. The water temperature was just right too. One note: the hair dryers (especially the one in the Room) felt quite worn out, so women may feel more comfortable bringing their own dryer. For that reason I rated the Facility/Equipment 4/5. I also rated amenities 4/5 because the toothbrush was extremely hard—slightly disappointing. Overall it was an incredibly satisfying one-night stay (2 days). It made me think, “I want to come here every New Year!” I’d love to visit again. Thank you very much for your hospitality. (There aren’t any convenience stores nearby; even FamilyMart near the station takes just under a 20-minute walk—so I recommend buying anything you’ll need in advance.)

    From Okinawa

I came from Okinawa. On the day, there were flight delays, train delays, I got lost on the way, and it was my first time going to the place, so it was full of happenings, and I ended up significantly over the scheduled check-in time. I arrived after 19:00, but the Ryokan staff welcomed me without a single unpleasant look. Even though the final dinner was supposed to be at 19:00, I thought there would be no dinner. I was grateful for the preparation, thank you very much. They were very wonderful people. The open-air bath was also very pleasant, and since it was late at night, I had it all to myself!! The river and autumn leaves visible from the Room were also very beautiful, and I would like to visit again!!

    A short break

Although it has an old-fashioned appearance, it was clean and well-maintained. The compact layout made it convenient to go anywhere. The meals were also delicious. The staff were polite and efficient, which was very nice. I was able to spend a pleasant and relaxing time. Thank you very much.

Very close to Nikko Toshogu Shrine

As expected, the staff were very pleasant and accommodating, allowing us to have a wonderful time. The large public bath was well-maintained, and we were just in time to enjoy the autumn leaves from the open-air bath, refreshing ourselves while gazing at the mountains and river. The grilled fish at breakfast was delicious. We were also blessed with good weather, allowing us to leisurely explore Nikko Toshogu Shrine. Thank you very much.

The hot spring was spacious and nice.

Very convenient location near Nikko Toshogu Shrine! The hot spring was spacious and very pleasant! The meals didn't have any particular standout features, but there were many delicious options.
