The open-air bath was very relaxing.

The building was clean, and it felt like the areas that needed renovation had been properly taken care of. The bath in particular was spotless, and the water temperature was perfect for a long soak—excellent. As for the meals, it felt like they were doing their best within a limited budget. I’d like to stay at this Accommodation again, but based on the Reviews saying the menu is always the same, I think next time I’ll choose a plan without meals. A small detail, but the toothbrush holder was very convenient. Many other Accommodations don’t provide one, and I hope more places will copy this idea. Thoughtful touches like a makeup mirror and a chair at the sink were appreciated, and you can use the massage chair near the bath as much as you want. There’s no welcome drink or greeting/farewell service and the fridge is empty, but by cutting those costs they keep prices low while still covering all the essentials, so I had a very comfortable stay.

    A small, tranquil accommodation

Although the Facility is quite old, it has been renovated and was mostly comfortable. The Japanese-modern design created a stylish atmosphere. I couldn’t find the air conditioner in the Room at first and panicked a bit. Since there was an outdoor unit outside, I looked around and it seemed the heating unit also functions as the air conditioner. It was hard to understand, so I wish there had been some guidance. The hallway on the accommodation floor didn’t seem to have air conditioning and felt hot. The bath area has been renovated and was very clean. There were also services such as a table tennis room and ice pops, which made us feel their hospitality. However, the food was a bit disappointing. In contrast to the Accommodation’s image, it felt like traditional old-style inn cuisine, and the salt-grilled char didn’t seem freshly grilled and crispy—I got the impression it may have been cooked quite a while earlier.

The scenery and meals are excellent.

The male staff member who explained the facilities at check-in was very attentive. However, once I entered the Room, the tatami mats were extremely worn. The view from the window was beautiful, but the railing was heavily rusted. The bath area was clean and the water was great. I felt wonderful relaxing in the open-air bath while enjoying the scenery, but there was no water dispenser, so I couldn’t soak for as long as I wanted. Drinks in plastic bottles were needed in the changing room. It was good that there were paper cups and a water dispenser near the bath entrance, but for someone like me who wants to spend about an hour in the baths, it would have been even better to have a water dispenser inside the bathing area or in the changing room. The food quality was high. I had a dinner course and added breakfast for 2,200 yen; it was worth it. However, since my knees are not good, dining on floor seating (tatami-style) was hard on my legs. The vending machines had only three kinds of alcohol, and they cost about twice as much as normal prices, so it’s better to buy drinks at a Seven-Eleven or Lawson about 500 meters away. The same applies to juice. At night it was quiet and the futon bedding was comfortable, so I slept well. I recommend this place for its scenery and meals—the views from the window, from the open-air bath, and from a nearby bridge are all excellent. If you are sensitive about cleanliness or wear-and-tear details, you may not be able to tolerate how worn out some of the tatami mats are. Since there is a lot of local Tochigi sake available hereabouts, I would love to see a tasting machine that lets you compare small cup-sized portions. Kinugawa Onsen is known for high Accommodation prices and famous Hotels with clean-looking exteriors. This Hotel seemed unable to invest much in its exterior or tatami mats but made an effort in other areas while keeping prices reasonable. There are also areas that became abandoned ruins after past bankruptcies without being demolished. There is too much to see around Kinugawa to cover in one day, so I’d like to come again as a cool summer getaway destination during hotter seasons.

    Nikko and Kinugawa Onsen Trip

We stayed for one night and two days. We could see the Kinugawa River from our Room, and everything was spotless—an extremely comfortable Room. The meals were a classic Plan centered around pork shabu-shabu, but the spread was very luxurious. It was delicious! The Onsen was also wonderful. Since it was raining, we couldn’t use the open-air bath at night, but by the next morning the rain had stopped and we were able to enjoy it. The water left our skin silky smooth—it was truly excellent. This has become an Accommodation we’d love to visit again. Thank you very much.

A Hotel where you can forget everyday life

We stayed at this Hotel for a relaxing getaway as a couple. Some areas show their age, but everything was kept clean, so we felt comfortable throughout our stay. As expected from the great reviews, the Onsen was wonderful, and the view from the open-air bath left us feeling refreshed in both body and mind. We were also very satisfied with the heartfelt meals! We thoroughly enjoyed playing table tennis as well, making our time here truly fulfilling.

    A wonderful Accommodation

I visited with my parents. For this trip, we were looking for an Accommodation with a smoking-allowed Room for my father, who is a smoker, and a private Onsen for my mother, who doesn’t like going to large public baths—so we chose Yunokura. The Room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable, and I was surprised at how cute the in-room bath was. There was a notice saying “Approved for Onsen Use,” so I wonder if the in-room bath also uses Onsen water. My mother really liked it and unusually woke up early to enjoy a morning bath. Dinner and breakfast were served in a private dining room, and everything was delicious—especially the “Himitsu Pork” shabu-shabu, which was outstanding. What we loved most was the private Onsen: the changing area was spacious, amenities were well provided, and there was even a large sofa. We said it would be nice to relax on the sofa if we had extra time, but the Onsen was so good that before we knew it we were right up against our time limit. My mother and I used it together, and it felt almost too spacious to be truly private—a wonderful bath. Finally, all of the staff were polite and pleasant; not once did we feel uncomfortable during our stay. This is an Accommodation I would confidently recommend to friends.

    We had a relaxing stay.

I stayed in a Japanese-style Room, and it was great that I could choose whether the futon would be put away during breakfast or after check-out. I was exhausted, so I could go back to sleep after breakfast, which made for a very relaxing morning. Both the Room and the bath had a wonderful view, and the Kinugawa River flowing below was beautiful. The only downsides were that the Room was very cold when I arrived, and there were only zori sandals provided for indoor use, which were difficult to wear with my thick socks. Still, at this price it felt reasonable. I was lucky to get a discounted rate (an early booking discount?). It was a last-minute trip, but I was glad I could make a Reservation for one of the few remaining smoking Rooms. Overall, I’m satisfied.

    Birthday Plan

We stayed on the birthday Plan, and the hospitality was wonderful. Both dinner and breakfast were very satisfying in portion size, and everything tasted delicious. We were also touched by the gift from the Accommodation—thank you very much. The private open-air bath was beautifully designed, and we could relax without worrying about time. We used the large public bath after breakfast until check-out, and it was almost like having it to ourselves, so we could fully enjoy soaking in the Onsen. We truly felt the kindness in how the staff treated us, and thought it was a really wonderful place. On our way home, we talked about how we want to come back again together.

    Very nice accommodation

We booked this accommodation for our first family trip. From the moment we arrived, every staff member welcomed us warmly and politely, making us immediately feel glad to have chosen this place. The bath was perfect! The location offered breathtaking views, and the autumn leaves from the open-air bath were stunning! As for dinner and breakfast, we were amazed by how much food was served—it left us completely satisfied! Even our children said they want to stay here again. It turned out to be a wonderful family trip! We hope to visit again next year. *The ice bar and coffee service were such a delightful touch! Perfect after a relaxing bath!*

    Happiness

We stayed here for a family trip. Both dinner and breakfast were incredibly delicious, leaving us very satisfied. Although the Ryokan and rooms are old, they were very clean, and the sunken kotatsu allowed us to enjoy quality family time together. We also received a surprise birthday gift, which made us feel very happy. As our children grow older, it becomes harder to gather as a family, but we would love to stay at this Ryokan again if we have the chance.

    The private open-air...

The private open-air bath was so excellent that it was worth paying the extra fee. Although I usually have a small appetite, the meal was just the right amount for me to finish (of course, I was so full that I couldn't move right away).
