    It’s starting to feel like a sea lion.

    Our family of four stayed in Aoi on the 6th floor. The kaiseki dinner with a boat platter was excellent in both quality and quantity. It was a shame we couldn’t watch the sunset because we were dining. Next time, we’d like to visit during the winter crab season.

    It was comfortable.

    We stayed as a family, and it was comfortable from start to finish! The building feels a bit traditional, but the inside is bright, and we could sense thoughtful attention to detail everywhere, which made it very relaxing. All the staff were pleasant, and the cleaning throughout the property was thorough. We wanted to play at the beach and also watch the sunset, so we worried about meal times—but it turned out to be unnecessary. While we were out, they prepared our in-room dinner, and for sashimi—where freshness is everything—they served it after we returned. When an announcement about the sunset played over the PA system during dinner, a staff member came by to turn off the grill so we could take our time watching from the rooftop bench. (You can also see it from your Room, but the view is better from the rooftop. To get there, you need to go up one flight of stairs.) At dinner we also enjoyed dancing grilled live abalone. (One didn’t move even after lighting it; when we mentioned it, they replaced it immediately, so we could eat with peace of mind.) I thought just the standard course might not be enough, but it was plenty. The bath was great because we had it all to ourselves. We also appreciated the lounge coffee and post-bath ice cream. Breakfast was filling and delicious as well. Overall, this Accommodation exceeded our expectations. There were many stylish places nearby and we debated where to stay, but I’m glad we chose Kaishu.

    We stayed as a coupl...

    We stayed as a couple to celebrate my husband. We were very satisfied with the delicious crab-focused meal. We were also very satisfied with the view from our Room. The staff’s warm, home-like hospitality was very comfortable, and although it was only one night, it helped us unwind from our daily fatigue. We would like to visit again. Thank you very much.

    Delicious Crab and a Beautiful Accommodation

    The crab was plentiful—more than we could finish—and delicious. If the grilled crab had been cooked over an open flame, it might have been even better. Breakfast was also tasty, and the portions were more than enough. We could really feel the Ryokan staff’s thoughtful hospitality. Everything was thoroughly cleaned and very pleasant. However, although the Room is supposed to be non-smoking, we noticed a cigarette smell when using the air conditioner.

    I’d like to stay here next summer.

    We stayed at this time of year with the goal of enjoying plenty of crab, and it was delicious just as we had hoped. The portions were generous, and we were very satisfied. However, it was a bit disappointing that the sun didn’t set into the sea during this season. There was an in-house announcement about the sunset, but when we looked out at the ocean, it wasn’t there. We realized it was setting toward the mountains instead. It was beautiful, but we still wanted to see a sunset over the sea, so next time we’d like to stay again when we can watch it set into the ocean. The service was also excellent, and we had a pleasant and enjoyable time.

    Staying at Yuhigaura Onsen Accommodation after a long time.

    Until before COVID-19, we stayed at other accommodations in Yuhigaura every year, but this time we chose Kaishuu. We were a bit unsure at first, but the ocean-view room was beautifully renovated with clean wallpaper and curtains. Meals were served in the room, allowing us to enjoy the dishes at our own pace without any worries. The amount of crab was more than enough, and we truly appreciated the thoughtful option for takeout.

    Crab

    The crab was not Tag Crab, but it was delicious and reasonably priced! Breakfast was a Japanese set meal, and the taste was excellent. The Ryokan had a traditional atmosphere, with a very cheerful and considerate hostess who came to greet us in our Room. In the morning, as we were taking a commemorative photo at the entrance with my husband before leaving, she kindly came outside to take a picture of us together. She even waved goodbye until our car disappeared from view!

    Yuhigaura

    Finally visited the Sunset Onsen I had always wanted to see! That day, the sun was partially hidden by clouds, and rays of light streaming through the gaps created a truly mystical view. The meals were so plentiful that I couldn't finish them all (served in-room). The Onsen was clean and relaxing, and I enjoyed cooling off on the rooftop while gazing at the sea. It seems like I picked a perfect season to visit!

    It was my first time using it.

    This was my first time staying here. I was looking forward to the beautiful sunset, but unfortunately, it was cloudy, so I couldn't see it. I was satisfied with the food, but the bath was smaller than I expected.

    Private open-air bath, exceptional!

    The private open-air bath, terrace, and the view from the 7th-floor room were fantastic. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious. Since it was a weekday during the off-season in September, there were few guests, making it quiet and pleasant. Great value for money; I would love to visit again.

    I stayed at the accommodation on the day of the Tango Ultramarathon. I was impressed with the room offering a stunning view of Kumihama. Since my finish time for the ultramarathon was delayed, they kindly adjusted the meal time, which was very helpful. My wife and mother-in-law, who came to support me, were also very pleased with the room, bath, and food. It was an accommodation I would love to visit again. Thank you very much!

    Delicious Dinner

    A 2-minute run down a straight path leads to a beautiful, safe, shallow beach with soft sand. After returning to the accommodation, enjoy a free warm shower to rinse off the sand and head straight to the onsen. There is also a laundry facility for washing swimsuits. The bath includes a small open-air option; while there’s no view from it, private family baths are available for an additional fee on the 6th and 7th floors—perfect for sunny days. A delightful service included activities like traditional festival games for children. We brought our own fireworks, and the front desk kindly provided buckets and lighters. It’s worth bringing extra lighters as they often stop working quickly in such situations! Fireworks on the beach created unforgettable memories, including launching aerial fireworks. Dinner served in-room was exceptional with intricate preparation. The abalone butter grill was entertaining, fresh vegetable tempura tasted like it came straight from the farm, and sashimi was outstanding! For breakfast, I wished there were items like seaweed sheets, natto beans, pickled plums or vegetables along with juice—but having squid sashimi in the morning was still delightful. The lounge above the bath offers free coffee anytime—a relaxing touch—and even has an air compressor that inflates floaties instantly! After check-out at no extra cost until 2 PM: access both parking facilities & baths remains available! Additionally received complimentary tickets (via LINE registration) valid nearby at Yuumi-no-Yu public bathhouse—such thoughtful perks!     We had a relaxing and enjoyable time!

    This was my first stay at Kaishu. I have visited Yuhigaura Onsen several times before, staying at different ryokans, and have always been impressed by the high standards in terms of cuisine, rooms, and staff hospitality. My experience at Kaishu this time was equally delightful. As soon as we arrived at the parking lot, a staff member came running to assist us. They seemed to already know our name and helped carry our luggage to the front desk. The front desk staff were efficient and handed us over to a room attendant who guided us to our room with clear explanations in a warm and friendly manner—not overly formal but very approachable. We stayed as a group of three in a 10-tatami mat Japanese-style room and a special suite. The special suite featured an open-air onsen bath and was incredibly spacious, allowing us to relax fully during our stay. Since it was a weekday with fewer guests, we could enjoy the large public baths and outdoor baths comfortably. The meals were satisfying! The highlight was definitely the grilled abalone—it was exceptional! While this area is known for crab dishes in winter, even during this season we found the food highly enjoyable. All of the staff members were cheerful and attentive. Even one trainee who assisted with meals or futon arrangements left an excellent impression with their pleasant service. It felt like everyone at this ryokan is working together towards excellence. I would love to visit again during winter next time. Thank you for your wonderful hospitality!

    Relaxing Accommodation

    The smiles, attentiveness, and thoughtful hospitality of the staff, including the hostess, were truly wonderful. Although we couldn't see the sunset due to bad weather, the beautiful sandy beach and ocean view from the Room were very soothing. Since the Room was spacious, having an extension cord for charging would have been helpful. The meals were delicious and served at just the right timing. Both my stomach and heart felt completely satisfied! Thank you very much!

    Four of us, workplace friends, visited Kaishu at Yuhigaura Onsen. It was our first reunion in six years, and one of us had undergone major surgery last autumn and recovered well, so this trip was also a celebration of their recovery. Kaishu kindly gifted bath salts as a recovery present to our friend, which deeply moved all of us. There were exactly four packets, so our friend shared them with everyone, making the trip even more memorable! Thank you very much! The sunset was incredibly beautiful, and we all cheered with joy! Dinner was served in the room with rare and fresh seafood that we don’t usually get to enjoy—everyone was extremely satisfied! Both dinner and breakfast were plentiful in portions; we joked that it felt like eating for three days' worth. After breakfast, there was complimentary coffee service where we enjoyed delicious freshly ground coffee. Everyone commented on how kind-hearted the Ryokan is—it made me happy to have chosen this place for our trip. One of my friends mentioned wanting to visit again with their family next time; when that happens, we look forward to your hospitality once more! Thank you very much for everything!

    Crab Feast

    All-You-Can-Eat Crab Feast! Even for someone like me who never leaves food behind, I couldn't finish it all. But don't worry, you can take the leftovers home. The service was provided by a foreign female staff member, and she was incredibly pleasant and professional. I had a wonderful time enjoying my meal. Thank you very much!

    The sunset is beautiful.

    Crab Standard Plan Special Guest Room with Semi-Open-Air Bath January Stay As it was a corner room, we could see the sunset from the room. The view was very beautiful, just as the name "Sunset Onsen" suggests. The public bath is not very spacious, so we only used it once, but the semi-open-air bath in the room was so comfortable that we used it multiple times. The meals were excellent! The portions were a bit too much for us though. With the sea right in front of us, we also enjoyed taking walks. We would love to visit again during a different season!

    Thank you for staying with us on Thursday, January 23rd, during your crab trip with your three classmates. The crabs were larger than expected, and the full course was very satisfying. We also enjoyed having the meal in the room after a long time, and the smile of the girl who served us was delightful. Of course, the Onsen was gentle on our skin and left it smooth even after returning home. We were also able to bring back crab souvenirs for our family, which made them happy. We are already talking about visiting again next year. Thank you very much!

    Family open-air bath is recommended.

    There was availability for the family bath, so we made a reservation at the front desk and used it. It was quite a cold day, but the family open-air bath with a great view was fantastic! After dinner, we also went to the large public bath, but its open-air bath had no view and was quite small. I felt even more glad that we went to the family bath. Additionally, I was happy to receive complimentary coffee in the lounge after bathing. Haagen-Dazs ice cream was also sold at the front desk, which delighted our children. As for meals, as expected, there were plenty of crabs served; most guests took home crabs packed in cooler boxes provided by the hotel. Since we could take home leftover crabs, it saved us from having to buy crab souvenirs. The staff were all pleasant and made our stay enjoyable throughout. Moreover, when one of our family members fell ill during the trip and couldn't go for breakfast, they kindly prepared rice balls for us; their thoughtfulness was wonderful. Thank you very much.

    We visited for a day...

    We visited for a day trip lunch with our family of seven. We enjoyed the crab feast course. Dishes using the equivalent of three crabs were served. Everything was very delicious, and the portions were so generous that we couldn't finish it all. They also prepared boiled whole crabs for us to take home as souvenirs. The staff provided pleasant service as well. The shuttle service to the station was kind and made our visit enjoyable. The Onsen was also nice.

    It was a truly relaxing day.

    There are years when I visit three times a year, and this is a property I have repeatedly stayed at many times. The smiles of the cheerful proprietress and everyone working at the property make me forget the fatigue of everyday life. Additionally, as someone from Kansai, I enjoyed meals that left me full, with joyful voices heard from every table. This time, a young woman took care of us during dinner and skillfully prepared delicious porridge while chatting with us. Having just returned home, I'm already planning my next stay before March.

    As rumored, it became a disappointment.

    I stayed for two nights, and the food was absolutely amazing in taste, ingredients, and quantity, so much so that I overate. The view from the room was fantastic, and I enjoyed the best hot springs, making it a perfect holiday. The only downside was the buckwheat pillow, which was uncomfortable for those not used to it, so I wish there was a choice of pillows.

    The service was very good.

    We stayed in a special room with our family of four. What bothered me was that there was dirt left on the desk in the room. The bath mat was moldy? It was dirty. We have small children, so we were grateful to borrow a baby bed, but I was a little concerned about the cleanliness of the sleeping area... We drank the water provided in the room, and when it ran out, I called to ask for a pitcher of water. The staff told me that they could only provide cold tap water, but purified water would be at room temperature, which I didn't quite understand. When I contacted them again, the landlady? said she would put ice in the purified water and give it to us, which made me wonder what the previous conversation was about... They brought us water in a pitcher and also in a plastic bottle, but the cap and mouth of the bottle were dirty with mud, so we couldn't drink it... Also, when they laid out the futon for us, there was gum? Some kind of sticky dirt, and bloodstains? Something like blood on the comforter, and although there was a cleaning paper in the toilet, there was a yellow stain on the toilet seat, which was shocking. Even though we stayed in a special room, the cleaning was not thorough, and I felt bad for having to contact the front desk so often. The food was delicious, the staff were all very nice, and the location was great, being close to the sea, so it seemed like it would be enjoyable during the beach season, which was disappointing.

    It was the best accommodation.

    The room was great, the food was great, the staff was great, and the proprietress was great, making it the perfect inn. The dinner was so plentiful that we couldn't finish it, and the additional abalone steak, turban shell sashimi, and grilled turban shell were very fresh and delicious. There is nothing to complain about. If I had to say something, I thought the breakfast was a bit lacking. I would definitely like to use it again.
