    I found a wonderful Accommodation during my trip to Tottori and Shimane.

    We traveled from Aichi Prefecture to visit Tottori and Shimane. After sightseeing at Matsue Castle, we made a Reservation at this Ryokan. Even though it was the day of our trip, the front desk staff were very helpful, and the Room and overall environment were excellent.\n\nIf you’re heading from Matsue Castle to Izumo Taisha, I highly recommend this Ryokan.\n\nThe morning clam miso soup was delicious.\n\nI would love to stay again if I have the chance. Thank you very much!

    Friends’ Trip

    Conveniently located near the station and the cruise pier. We arrived late after the sunset dinner cruise, but we were warmly welcomed, and the staff were kind. A cozy, home-like atmosphere. The meals were very delicious. The clam miso soup at breakfast was especially tasty, and I was happy to be able to have a second serving.

    Relaxing Accommodation

    I stayed at the Accommodation “White (TUKUMO).” It was spacious, comfortable, and had a modern Japanese style. Unfortunately, this Room does not overlook Lake Shinji, so I couldn’t see the sunset. It’s a small Ryokan where I could relax and enjoy a peaceful stay.

    Very good.

    They upgraded us to a Room on the 6th floor with a great view, and the scenery was amazing. We were very satisfied with the Onsen, open-air bath, dinner, and breakfast, including clam miso soup. The hospitality and service were excellent, and we would love to stay again. Thank you very much!

    It was very comfortable.

    Although it is a little far from the station, I would like to stay again next time. Thank you for preparing a spacious Room for us. Both the Room and the large public bath were clean, and the meals were very delicious.

    A Ryokan that thoughtfully caters to every need

    Given the reasonable room rate, I didn’t have very high expectations, but I was extremely satisfied. Service: The staff were very efficient and attentive to small details, which made the stay enjoyable. Amenities: They are provided as a set in a large bag, making it easy to take them to the Onsen. Onsen: Small, but with great water quality that left my skin smooth. The hair dryers included premium options—ReFa, Dyson, and Repironizer—so I could compare how they dried my hair. Meals: Refined and delicious. If I had to mention one drawback, the check-out time is early and the check-in time is late, but I felt this is probably a smart way to operate with a smaller team. I would like to stay here again when traveling to Matsue.

    The yukata was too short, which was disappointing.

    There is a service where women can choose from various yukata designs, and sizes are indicated based on body height. I chose size S as I am 158 cm tall, but when I tried it on, the length was up to my ankles, which felt a bit short and disappointing. It would have been helpful if the staff had suggested a size based on my height during our conversation while selecting. Other than that, all the staff members, including the first one who assisted us, were very pleasant and made our stay comfortable. If I had to mention something else, it would be that soundproofing could be improved. The 6-tatami mat Japanese-style room was spacious enough for two people. I enjoyed the Onsen twice—once at night and once in the morning—and luckily had it almost entirely to myself both times for a relaxing experience. Overall, considering cost performance as well, I was very satisfied with my stay.

    We were provided with a room larger than the one we reserved. It was perfect for adults, allowing us to stay in a calm and relaxing environment. The bath felt like a private experience, letting us unwind and relieve our travel fatigue. The meals had an elegant Kyoto-style flavor and were truly delicious. Next time, we would love to visit with our children. Thank you very much!

    Shijimi Miso Soup

    I became interested in Matsue after watching the NHK morning drama "Bakebake" and decided to visit, inspired by the shijimi clam soup featured in the show. I was thrilled to hear that shijimi soup would be served for breakfast. When I asked if refills were allowed at the start of the meal, I was told it was okay, which made me even happier. However, here's where the issue began. After getting a second refill and requesting a third bowl, an older female staff member responded with a displeased expression and said, "Well... usually two bowls should be enough," implying it was common sense not to ask for more. My request was denied. This upset me greatly and left me feeling unpleasant from the start of my trip's morning. It still bothers me now and has negatively affected my impression of Matsue. I only wanted one more bowl after my second serving; I had no intention of asking for endless refills. The night before at dinner, I ordered multiple drinks from their menu, contributing to their sales as a guest at their Ryokan. Despite this, what kind of response was that? If there’s a rule limiting refills to two bowls only, they should have informed guests beforehand. Was this refusal based on Ryokan policy or simply that particular staff member's personal judgment? Judging by her reaction when I asked for another refill, I believe it’s likely the latter. It left me feeling extremely uncomfortable and disappointed during my stay. I would like clarification on whether this is an official rule or just her personal opinion.

    During your visit to Izumo

    We visited this accommodation for the first time during our summer trip, as it matched our family's wishes (onsen ryokan with an open-air bath and delicious seafood). The dinner exceeded our expectations. The appetizers served in a multi-tiered soba container were exciting, each dish was delicately flavored and beautifully presented, making it a feast for the eyes as well. Everything was freshly prepared and served with care, complemented by local beer that everyone enjoyed thoroughly. The morning clam soup was exceptionally delicious, truly reflecting the specialty of the region. The entire facility was clean and well-maintained despite its age; there were no unpleasant odors, leaving a good impression of proper upkeep. The bath area is compact but offers smooth and pleasant water quality. The open-air bath required slight crouching during daylight hours for privacy. Amenities in the changing room, including cold water service, were thoughtfully provided down to every detail. The view from the room was great; however, since there were only shoji screens (paper sliding doors), we found the strong west sun in the evening made it difficult to relax on chairs comfortably, and we woke up early due to bright sunlight in the morning—some sunshade measures would be appreciated during summer months. If given another opportunity, we would love to stay at this accommodation again!

    Although it was unfortunately raining, we appreciated being allowed to park the car in front of the entrance. I usually watch TV while lying in bed, so it was a bit disappointing not to be able to do so in the bedroom, but I ended up sleeping very well instead. The bath and meals were excellent. I believe making this Reservation was the right choice. One small thing is that when leaving by car, the road in front seemed congested due to rush hour traffic, and I had trouble getting out. The staff quickly returned inside without noticing this, so if guidance could be provided for exiting during such times, it would have been perfect—but perhaps that's asking too much!

    I had a relaxing stay.

    We traveled avoiding the Golden Week, so the Room was probably not fully booked. The Room, dining area, and overall atmosphere were calm and relaxing. The staff greeted us with warm smiles. Both breakfast and dinner were Japanese cuisine, which we enjoyed very much. If we visit Matsue again, we would love to stay here. Thank you very much!

    The quality of the meals is high.

    The Ryokan offers delicious meals. Dinner is luxurious with a five-tiered serving and fresh sashimi! However, there seemed to be a lack of warm dishes. Breakfast was visually appealing, and the shijimi soup, tsukudani, and moromi miso were delicious. The Shimane-grown Koshihikari rice was well-cooked in the morning, but at night, it was a bit watery and lost its shape, which was disappointing. Also, I wished they had local beer available. The futon on tatami in the Japanese-style room felt a bit hard for someone used to a bed mattress, but it wasn't too uncomfortable. The open-air bath and large public bath were both at the same temperature, around 40 or 41 degrees, which wasn't hot enough but was good for a long soak to warm up. However, since it's an Onsen property, it would be better if the towels were more reusable, considering guests might bathe multiple times. It was inconvenient that there were only stairs between the North and South buildings, making it difficult to carry suitcases, but the room on the 3rd floor of the South building was conveniently located, with the bathhouse just one floor up and the dining hall one floor down. The room had a downside in that the window couldn't be opened, or rather, the view was of the neighboring building, which was a negative point in terms of location. Also, the TV sound was muffled and hard to hear.
