  We had a relaxing stay in a warm, home-like atmosphere.

  We stayed here on a family trip. The Japanese meals were delicious, and even after eating a lot, we didn’t feel heavy. The white rice was especially excellent. The Room was quiet and very relaxing, and since we could use the private bath as much as we wanted depending on the time slot, it felt like a great deal to stay at such a wonderful Ryokan—we were very satisfied.

  We had a wonderful time.

  We enjoyed a wonderful, relaxing stay that you don’t often find in modern hotels. Both dinner and breakfast were exceptionally delicious. The steamed white rice was especially tasty, and our daughter ate plenty of it. This is a kind Ryokan that is comfortable for families with children.

  I had a very comfortable stay.

  We stayed as a group of six, including four elderly sisters and one couple. Since my mother, who has difficulty walking, couldn't get up from a futon, we rented a mattress (500 yen fee), which was very helpful. She mentioned that it was 60 cm high and even taller than her bed at home. The Onsen and meals were excellent; however, the simmered sweetfish for dinner and the candied sweetfish for breakfast were quite similar. It would have been better if they were different dishes. Being a small-scale accommodation, we could relax without encountering many other guests. If we have another chance to stay here, I’d love to try the T-bone steak next time!

  Stayed at the accommodation to celebrate my mother-in-law's 88th birthday.

  The purpose of our stay was to visit Zenkoji Temple and celebrate my mother-in-law's 88th birthday. From arrival to check-out, the atmosphere was consistently warm and welcoming. The friendly owner and hostess provided excellent service. Dinner was abundant, almost too much to finish. For three people, two had T-bone steaks while one had a petite Shinshu beef steak—I personally found the petite Shinshu beef steak more delicious. The T-bone is ideal for those who prefer quantity, but if you value quality over quantity, I recommend the Shinshu beef. The bath included a handmade open-air rock Onsen crafted by the owner; it’s cozy with a capacity of about three people at most. Our room allowed private access to an open-air Hinoki wood Onsen from 9 PM to 8 AM, which along with the large public bath offered a delightful sulfur-scented hot spring experience. However, considering what’s included in the stay, I personally felt that the accommodation price could be slightly lower. On that day, there was also a classic car event nearby which attracted regular guests as well. This Ryokan seems to divide opinions—some find it very comfortable and worth returning to while others feel something is missing for complete satisfaction.

Our Kamei Ryokan is a small accommodation with only 12 rooms, and we take pride in our handcrafted open-air Onsen baths. In this Togura Kamiyamada Onsen area, there are accommodations boasting larger open-air baths, which we recommend if that is your preference. However, please note that their rates are approximately double those of our ryokan. For those who appreciate a small family-run accommodation with cozy handcrafted open-air Onsen baths, we warmly welcome you to Kamei Ryokan.

  Hot springs are good, meals are good, and customer service is good.

  My spouse and I stayed in the "Kodakara" room. I have known for a long time that the hot springs in Togura Kamiyamada are great, but the room's open-air bath, the separate indoor baths for men and women, and the open-air baths in each (which switch at 9 PM so we could enjoy both) were all small yet calming and excellent baths. The dinner was a delightful combination of classic dishes and a menu with a chef's twist, which we enjoyed with local sake. The hospitality from the owner, the proprietress, and the staff was impeccable, allowing us to have a pleasant experience from check-in to check-out. It's an inn that makes you want to stay again and recommend to acquaintances.
