    The calm ocean view ...

    The calm ocean view and the fishermen’s meal were great, but some of the fried dishes had cooled after a short wait, which was disappointing. Compared with other Ryokan and Hotels in Tohoku, I felt that the Room design and overall service did not offer good value for the cost.

    I was amazed by the ...

    I was amazed by the amount of food served at dinner. There was more than I could finish, and given the times we live in, I felt very sorry about that. With plenty of fresh Sanriku seafood and a relaxing soak in the Onsen, it was an Accommodation I was extremely satisfied with.

    This is my second stay.

    I stayed here once two years ago, and this was my second visit. Taking advantage of a short adults-only spring break, we came to Ofunato Onsen. Unfortunately, the sky was overcast and we couldn’t enjoy a beautiful blue sky, but we were very satisfied with our stay—the hospitality did not disappoint, from the open-air bath enjoyed while listening to black-tailed gulls and the sound of the waves, to the hearty dinner that arrived one dish after another. This time I gave 4 stars for the Room and amenities because when we arrived, the futons had already been laid out, leaving no space to relax comfortably at first. Last time we stayed in a room with beds so I didn’t notice it then, but having a place to sit back with some tea and unwind also feels important. I’d be happy if you could simply keep in mind that some guests prefer that kind of stay. That said, spring is all about seaweed—wakame and kombu—and it felt like my stomach got a refreshing reset. We usually like trying different Accommodations so we don’t often stay at the same place twice, but Ofunato Onsen is an Accommodation I’d recommend to others and one we’d happily return to again and again—so we’d love to visit in another season as well.

    Satisfied with the meals.

    Both dinner and breakfast were delicious and served in such generous portions that we couldn’t finish them, so we were very satisfied. The service was polite and made us feel comfortable. It was a little disappointing that it was cloudy in the morning. Next time, we’d like to come back on a sunny day for a retry.

    The dinner rice was not freshly cooked, which was disappointing and not tasty. When I requested butter for the grilled abalone, it took a long time to arrive, and by then the abalone had completely cooled down and wasn't enjoyable. I understand it's my fault for requesting something not on the menu! The timing of the meal service was also poor. Even after finishing one dish, there were delays before the next dish arrived, which made me feel like I was waiting too long. Timing is important, so more attention should be given to this aspect. The Onsen water temperature was lukewarm. However, the sunrise view was absolutely stunning! If your hotel aims to be known for its excellent scenery, improving other services would make it even better. As for complimentary drinks, only coffee was available; since I can't have caffeine, I wished there had been juice or another option instead. I've written all this with hopes that your Hotel will improve further—please take no offense!

    I stayed at the accommodation with the Ofunato Reconstruction Discount. The dinner was fresh and very delicious. The abalone, sea squirt, sea cucumber, and sashimi were also delightful. The lighting in the bath was not too bright, which was nice. Breakfast was also delicious. I especially liked the rolled omelet and Kaneyaki (grilled fish cake). I overlooked that cleaning starts at 9 a.m., so when I went to the bath, they said "It's okay!" but I felt uneasy as I entered while cleaning was ongoing—my mistake. The view from the room was also very beautiful. Overall, it was excellent. I would love to stay again if I have another opportunity!

    The view from the ro...

    The view from the room is excellent. The Onsen indoor bath might feel a bit lukewarm, but the outdoor bath offers perfect temperature and an amazing view. This time, we had breakfast included, and it was a delightful taste of Ofunato. The service was great with free coffee, a well-stocked small shop, and incredibly fresh wakame seaweed. We would love to visit again!

    There was an earthquake during the night, and the disaster alarm on my phone went off, along with a tsunami advisory, which startled me. My husband, who was near the front desk, said his anxiety disappeared after seeing the calm and composed demeanor of the staff. The next morning, trains were not running, but thanks to the quick thinking of the staff, we were able to take a highway bus and later return home as planned via Shinkansen. We became repeat guests because we liked their regular services, but their response during emergencies was truly impressive. This Hotel has become even more special to us.

    The open-air Onsen was excellent.

    Stayed with a breakfast-included plan. The early morning onsen open-air bath was absolutely amazing, including the view. At night, there was an enjoyable deer dance attraction. The breakfast was a Japanese-style meal where we could savor local flavors like fish.

    A breathtaking accommodation with very kind and warm staff.

    I recently stayed at this accommodation. Although I planned to have dinner at a nearby izakaya without including dinner in my stay, the restaurants closed due to a tsunami advisory. During that time, I was kindly picked up by car from the station. Thank you very much. I was also told that they looked into restaurants that might still be open. The warmth of the staff truly saved me. Additionally, the onsen and the view from the rooftop were breathtaking! Thanks to everyone, I had a wonderful time.

    Sunrise Over the Sea and Thoughtful Hospitality

    The sunrise over the sea, visible from both the room and the bath, was truly mesmerizing. It felt like a very special experience. I was also deeply moved by the thoughtfulness and kindness in accommodating a last-minute cancellation for a member who couldn't come due to illness. The natural warmth and calm demeanor of the staff during interactions and dinner created such a wonderful atmosphere at this lovely accommodation. Thank you very much!

    Sanriku Scenic Onsen

    Booked the day before stay. With breakfast included, a natural onsen, and stunning views for two people at half price—21,000 yen seemed like a great deal! The room was left to chance, but I assumed it would have an ocean view. Instead, it faced the parking lot—a 6-tatami mat room without a bath. Once the futons were laid out, there was no space for luggage, which was disappointing. However, my mood improved after enjoying the breathtaking onsen. I decided to make use of the microwave in the room for a simple meal and had dinner there before taking another relaxing bath and going to bed. The next morning started with another soak in the onsen followed by breakfast. While it looked ordinary at first glance, dishes like tamagoyaki and simmered kelp had a comforting homemade taste that was absolutely delicious. The salmon was tender and flavorful too! I imagine dinner would have been just as delightful. Although I found the room quite disappointing overall, both the onsen and breakfast were excellent—so my overall satisfaction is 4 stars. Perhaps this experience reflects "you get what you pay for." That said, with an original price of 42,000 yen reduced by half during this sale promotion, calling it "half-price" felt misleading—it seemed more like an issue with how they marketed rooms with certain conditions upfront to avoid disappointment!

    The meals were absolutely delicious. There was a great variety and generous portions, perfectly aligning with the concept of "Energize through meals," which is truly wonderful and appreciated. However, even though it was written, "Please don't hesitate to leave food," I couldn't help but feel guilty about leaving any behind.

    The meals were delicious.

    I reserved a sea-side room, and they prepared a corner sea-side room where I could enjoy the ocean view from both windows. The scenery was amazing. I was also able to see the sunrise from the room. The meals were as plentiful and delicious as rumored, and I was surprised by the size of the braised swordfish head. I would love to visit again!

    Satisfied with the view and the bath.

    I chose this place as I couldn't stay in Kesennuma, but the view was excellent and the bath was great. I used the coin laundry to wash my clothes, but the instructions were somewhat unclear, leading to wasted detergent. The front desk staff provided polite service, and I appreciated the complimentary coffee. I stayed in a mountain-side Japanese-style Room just for sleeping purposes, but it felt outdated and lacked seating for relaxation. For those with mobility issues or anyone else, staying in such a Room is impractical (you can only sleep), so I think a Western-style Room with even a single bed would be better.

    For some reason, this is common in the Tohoku region, but I also encountered someone here with an impressive tattoo on their back.

    I stayed with my daughter. The bath with an ocean view, the stunning rooftop scenery, and the delicious variety of dishes made for a wonderful trip. I accidentally left my earrings in the Room. I didn’t even realize I had forgotten them until I received a call from the Facility. They were my favorite pair with my birthstone. The staff kindly offered to send them to me, and they arrived at my home the very next day! The quick response and careful packaging were truly appreciated. Although it’s a bit far away, I would love to stay here again in the future!

    Ofunato Onsen Multiple Night Stay

    The sunrise was incredibly beautiful. The futon was already laid out in the Room, and I appreciated that no one entered the Room during my stay. While there is no safe for valuables in the Room, you can leave them at the front desk. The 10-tatami mat Room had futons laid out, so space with a table and floor chairs was a bit tight but still comfortable. The fisherman's meal was very hearty and might be challenging for those with smaller appetites. There was also a printed guide with tips on how to finish it all. Postcards were provided, and they even covered the postage cost so you could send them to friends, which I thought was nice. Unfortunately, I didn’t remember any addresses due to frequent email communication these days. The Room faced the sea, offering an open view of the ocean through its windows—very refreshing! As someone from Tokyo, I found some of the flavors slightly strong for my taste. However, the boat platter meal exceeded expectations!

    Overall, I felt that the Accommodation Fee was too high.

    Due to overlapping with the forest fire in Ofunato, many evacuees came to bathe. As a result, during dinner, the president personally went around apologizing to the guests, which was very touching. The dinner had generous portions but felt poorly prepared and not very tasty. Additionally, the room design seemed cheap for an Onsen Ryokan. The Accommodation Fee was approximately 38,000 yen for two people, which felt quite high for what was offered—26,000 yen would have been more reasonable.

    Great seafood meals!

    I wanted to eat more of the tender simmered marlin, but I was too full. There were a lot of seaweed dishes. The sunrise was beautiful.

    It was very good.

    Overall, it was very good. Although it was a time when there were fewer fish available, the meals were satisfying. The view was excellent, and it was nice to see what looked like a serow sunbathing on the cliff. However, the heating from the air conditioner was cold, and it might have been nice to have a red sash or a warm-colored tanzen.

    Perfect!

    Due to my companion's work schedule, who was with me in a rental car to Rikuzentakata, I headed there alone by BRT. It was my first time in Sanriku, and the first time I was moved by the high level of hospitality was when I called the Stays to ask for directions. I asked if there was a store nearby where I could buy a phone charger I had forgotten at the previous Property, and about the unique transportation methods in this area without railways since the earthquake. They kindly prepared a charger at the front desk and provided detailed instructions on how to take the bus and access from the station, offering very courteous service to a first-time visitor like me. At check-in, despite having a budget Plan for one night with breakfast, they said, "Since we have availability today, we have prepared a spacious Room on the ocean side for you." It wasn't a luxurious Room by any means, but the ever-changing ocean view was wonderful, the cleaning was thorough, and the interior was very comfortable with everything needed in its proper place. As the air conditioning caused dryness, I requested a humidifier from the front desk, and they promptly delivered one with water replenished. The "Onsen," which is the name of the Stays, exceeded expectations. I used it three times at different times, and since the cleaning time is set around check-out time, guests can bathe almost 24 hours. It was evident that they frequently cleaned in between, which left a good impression. Needless to say, the magnificent sunrise could be seen from all locations, including the open-air bath, rooftop, breakfast venue, lobby, and my Room. Since I was able to stay at such a nice Stays at a budget price, I decided to purchase all my souvenirs there. I requested two deliveries, one to take home and one to Yokohama City, and despite the current delivery circumstances, they arrived in just one day. I believe they arranged it swiftly despite shopping after dinner. I truly admire the staff at Ofunato Onsen, who provide warm and heartfelt service every day in a place where the scars of the earthquake are still deep. Thank you for a wonderful day of travel. I definitely wish to visit again.

    Great satisfaction

    The tuna collar and abalone were delicious and very satisfying. I enjoyed the spectacular view from the bath before sunrise. At the Onsen, the staff prepared the hairdryers and amenities, allowing me to have a pleasant stay.

    We were able to relax and enjoy delicious seafood.

    I searched for a stay in Ofunato. I was attracted by the fisherman's meal and made a reservation, and the seasonal seafood that made the most of the ingredients was all very delicious. The breakfast also had a "classic Japanese" feel and was satisfying. I learned about the specialty "Nabeyaki" for the first time, and it was so delicious that I want to make it as a snack. Although the guide mentioned there was a shuttle service, it was initially difficult to walk from Ofunato Marumori Station in the dark. I was grateful to be taken to the bus stop on the way back. The room, bath, and facilities were clean and comfortable. Thank you for a wonderful time.

    Bath chair

    It was nice to be able to eat and drink in the Room rather than at a buffet. The open-air bath with a view of the sea is great! Just one thing, it would have been better if the bath chair was higher.

    The service was comparable to that of a first-class Hotel.

    I used the Hotel urgently to visit my father who had collapsed. The check-in was thorough and easy to understand. There was a Room change, but it was smooth and the information was well shared, which impressed me. The meals were very satisfying, and the service staff was excellent. Breakfast was prepared in advance without waiting, and the service was well thought out, which was very good. I was also pleased to find an extension cord in the guest Room. I thought it was a Hotel that paid attention to details. If I had to say, the futon on the first night was too thin and my back hurt. Perhaps it was the Room grade, but the second night was thicker and better. The seafood from Sanriku was indeed the best. I stayed for two nights, but I was so healed that I wanted to stay longer. I had a small child with me, but all the staff were warm and welcoming. I plan to visit my father again, so I will use it at that time. It was nice to be able to look at the local sea after a long time.

    It was a very satisfying Stays!

    Dinner was very delicious. It was more than I could eat. The specialty Kabuto-yaki was more delicious than expected, and the seasoning was very good! Ofunato is a favorite place, and this time I was truly satisfied with the wonderful and comfortable property I found. After all, a room with a view of the sea is the best. I definitely want to come again. The staff's service was also good, and I became even more fond of Ofunato~! Thank you very much.

    I used this property as accommodation when visiting relatives in Ofunato. I have used it several times in the past, and the meals that allow you to enjoy the delights of Ofunato are as wonderful as ever, with their hearty portions always making me ponder the pace of my meals. I also enjoyed the onsen several times. Unfortunately, the front desk service was slightly less smooth, and the hotel's involvement in small troubles during the stay was unfiltered, highlighting some negative aspects in handling. Overall, I believe it was a good stay, and I plan to use it again when visiting Ofunato.
