    We were able to relax with peace of mind.

    Thanks to the warm and courteous service, I felt at ease throughout my stay. The location is very convenient if you are traveling by car. For guests arriving by train, a Shuttle Service was also available to Shimoda Station. Because I have many food allergies, I chose a Plan without meals. However, the Accommodation staff kindly recommended local restaurants, and we were fortunate to get a Reservation. I was able to enjoy an outstanding simmered kinmedai (splendid alfonsino), which was absolutely delicious. The young international staff were wonderful as well—their smiles were lovely, their Japanese was excellent, and they worked with great dedication. As someone who can only speak Japanese comfortably, I truly respect them. The bath was also fantastic: the Izu stone in the indoor bath glowed a beautiful blue, and its soft texture felt very pleasant on the skin. The night view of Shimoda Port and the sunset outside the window were stunning. Thank you very much for taking such good care of us.

    The views, Onsen, and meals are excellent.

    The views from the Room and the open-air bath were wonderful. We were able to see a beautiful sunset. The meals, made with plenty of local ingredients, were delicious. We also appreciated the thoughtful hospitality of all the staff. While the Facility feels a bit dated overall, both the Room and baths were clean and comfortable. We could relax at a leisurely pace, making it a truly enjoyable holiday. We would like to stay again in a different season.

    The Room was spaciou...

    The Room was spacious, and we were able to relax in the Japanese-style room. There is an ocean view, though it is a bit distant. The Shuttle Service driver, the front desk staff, and the staff who brought our meals were all very polite and provided excellent service. It seemed like they were short-staffed for meal service and quite busy, but the simmered golden eye snapper and sashimi were both very delicious! Thank you very much.

    Excellent balance of quality and cost.

    The Hotel building is visible from anywhere in Shimoda Bay. It was great that the baths were available to use freely even late at night. The stars seen from the open-air bath were beautiful. The staff seemed new and inexperienced, but they were doing their best, so it was understandable. The food was also delicious. They keep costs down to maintain reasonable prices, but they clearly work hard to maintain quality where it matters most.

    Simple and ordinary.

    Clean and simple atmosphere. The bath was good. Breakfast was really ordinary and felt a bit lacking. Coffee after breakfast was available for 500 yen per cup. There was no coffee provided in the Room, which was disappointing. It felt like it matched the price point.

    Excellent service and breathtaking views

    The staff at the front desk were very considerate, and their service during meals was excellent. Additionally, we were fortunate to witness a beautiful sunset, offering a stunning view from the room. I think this is a very good accommodation.

    It was a highly satisfying stay.

    I stayed for two nights in a room with a Japanese-style bed. The building is old, but it is well-maintained and clean, leaving no room for complaints. The view from the room was fantastic, the meals were delicious, and the bath was very relaxing. Above all, the staff were incredibly pleasant and full of hospitality, making it a wonderful accommodation. Not only the front desk staff and shuttle service drivers but also the foreign staff worked diligently with lovely smiles. Recently, accommodation fees at domestic hotels and ryokans have skyrocketed, and many do not match their prices. However, Hotel Yamadaya offered excellent value for money as an outstanding accommodation. It was a stay that reminded me of Japan's exceptional hospitality. I look forward to visiting again soon!

    Not quite up to the price.

    I made a reservation for the middle day of a three-day weekend, so it's understandable that the price is higher, but the service content is somewhat lacking. The staff, possibly due to a shortage of workers, includes foreigners who are friendly and hardworking, which is commendable. However, I was surprised when I put on the yukata brought as a replacement because it didn't fit well and found a hole in it. It wasn't noticeable since it was on the underside, and changing it again would be troublesome, so I wore it as is. The meal plan with smaller portions was just right in terms of quantity but lacked flavor. While preferences may vary for Aji no Tataki (horse mackerel sashimi), I think ginger suits better than wasabi. Although Shizuoka should be famous for its wasabi, what they served wasn't real wasabi. The open-air bath offers an amazing view while watching the sunset; however, in the morning it was too hot to enter—I'd appreciate being able to adjust the temperature with water. Cleaning is thorough; once inside your room you can't hear hallway conversations allowing peaceful relaxation—the interior decoration features an empty vase in an alcove (tokonoma) with not-so-great paintings hanging around—but rather than such things even placing one camellia flower on table would provide comfort—a retro game machine found at lobby brings nostalgia especially those nearing sixties!

    The scenery is beautiful. The food is delicious, and the staff were very courteous.

    It was a good New Year.

    It was our first family trip for the New Year, and from the response to the confirm reservation call to the greetings from all the property staff, it was a very pleasant stay. It had been decades since I stayed at a property with the nostalgic style of wearing slippers from the entrance, but the bath was pleasant, the meals were very delicious, and it was a very satisfying trip with cleanliness that did not feel old. We will visit again.
