    The sand bath was great.

    I looked for an Accommodation where I could enjoy a sand bath. It had been a long time since I stayed at a National Vacation Village or National Lodge, and it felt nostalgic in the same way as before. The Facility is old, but I had no particular complaints, and the service and meals were good. My first-ever sand bath was amazing.\nIt warmed me through to the core and made me feel refreshed and detoxed. It was also convenient to be able to take a regular bath right away afterward.\nHowever, it’s quite far away, so I’m not sure if I’ll be able to visit again.

    A Getaway for Mature Couples

    I stayed here because I wanted to try Ibusuki’s sand bath, and it was an amazing experience that flew by in no time. The optional face pack (for both of us as a couple) was refreshingly cool and felt great. They also took photos of us while we were in the sand bath, which made for a wonderful keepsake. (Apparently this photo service is only available here.) Dinner was the best of both worlds with the Ibusuki Tamatebako set plus a buffet—both the portion size and the taste were excellent. Everyone at the Facility was pleasant and welcoming. Thank you very much.

    Sand baths are amazing!

    It was my first visit since my student days over 40 years ago, and it met my expectations perfectly. Unfortunately, I could only enjoy the sand bath once as I felt unwell on the second day, but I would love to visit again if I have the chance. Thank you for your hospitality.

    The accommodation it...

    The accommodation itself is old, but the meals, onsen, and service were excellent. [Meals] It was a half-buffet style with a wide variety of dishes, which was very satisfying. There was also a service where you could take some desserts to your room and enjoy them twice. They were very attentive to allergies as well. [Onsen] The paid sand bath was extremely relaxing. They even took photos for us! [Service] The welcome drink featured Chiran tea, and the terrace had foot baths and a bonfire where we could spend a relaxing time. Overall, it was an accommodation I would love to stay at again.

    Truly a Vacation

    The serene atmosphere of the lobby, the large public bath, and the meals were all highly satisfying. The sweet potato tempura was especially outstanding. We highly recommend the two-meal plan. We look forward to staying here again.

    Enjoyed the sand bath.

    Stayed for one night with dinner and breakfast included. The main purpose of the stay was the sand bath. Upon check-in, I received a ticket for the sand bath at the front desk (payment made at check-out). The sand bath was located within the accommodation's premises, making it more convenient than expected. Enjoyed 15 minutes in the sand bath, followed by a relaxing soak in the onsen at the attached large public bath. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious. The room was quite old but functional. The sunrise was incredibly beautiful. Since this area used to be part of Ibusuki Naval Air Base, there were some photos and materials displayed inside the accommodation. During a morning walk, I visited its remains nearby.

    Luxurious Meals

    The Facility, including the bath and elevator, had a somewhat dated feel. However, both dinner and breakfast were buffet-style, offering plenty of Kagoshima specialties to enjoy. Additionally, the Facility features a sand steam bath that allows easy access to the large public bath for a convenient experience. The sea-facing Room offered stunning views of the sunrise, which was truly exceptional. We were very satisfied. Thank you!

    Finally, experience the long-awaited sand bath...

    I visited to experience the sand bath I had long dreamed of. The staff who buried me were true professionals, and I enjoyed the process from start to finish. We ordered Satsuma cuisine, and for us as a couple in our fifties, it was an overwhelming feast that we couldn’t finish—almost felt sorry about it! Everything, from the meat and fish to the sweet potatoes, was absolutely delicious. I got excited when I realized we could take some tea sweets back to our Room. The staff's thoughtfulness was exceptional, and we thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to Kagoshima. When I boasted about it to my mother-in-law, she was very envious—I hope someday we can visit together as a family!

    It was relaxing.

    The sand bath gently warmed the entire body, followed by the Onsen and dinner, which were absolutely wonderful. In the morning, I was able to relax on the terrace and enjoy a delicious meal, making me feel truly happy. I would love to visit again. Thank you for your hospitality.

    It was very beautiful.

    I stayed for one night on a solo trip. The building felt a bit old, but the room was clean and well-maintained. The staff's hard work was evident, making it a very comfortable stay. Dinner was a half-buffet style, which I enjoyed. Choosing from various dishes like tempura and small plates was fun—I ended up eating too much! On the way to the terrace from the large public bath, I had the chance to view materials about Ibusuki Airfield. As this year marks the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, perhaps some creative updates to the display could be considered. I only knew about Chiran and learned for the first time that there was an airfield in Ibusuki—my apologies for my lack of knowledge. The staff were energetic and provided excellent service with care and attention. As this is your 60th anniversary since opening, I wish you continued success in your future endeavors. I hope to work hard myself so that I can visit again someday! Thank you for everything!

    It was amazing!!

    Stayed for one night on February 17th with friends! We are all residents of Kanagawa Prefecture and prioritized finding accommodation with delicious meals. Based on reviews, we chose this place, and the food was absolutely perfect—both dinner and breakfast exceeded our expectations! Just before arriving, one of us injured their foot. When we borrowed a leg pillow and ice pack, the staff kindly brought additional items like a cooling patch, which warmed our hearts with their thoughtful care. The room was a spacious Japanese-style room for five people with an ocean view. It was very clean, offered breathtaking views, including a stunning sunrise that made us all so happy to have stayed here! We definitely want to come back again! Thank you to all the staff members!

    Sand Bath Onsen Experience in Ibusuki, the Hawaii of Japan

    I visited Ibusuki, known as Japan's Hawaii, which I had been interested in for a long time. I arrived in Ibusuki via Kirishima and Sakurajima on a sunny morning, but just like Hawaii, the weather was changeable, with overcast skies and occasional light rain with glimpses of the sun. Although it was before check-in time, I was not kept waiting and received a room key and a yukata for women, and headed to the twin room with an open veranda... The view of the sea from the bed through the full-length windows was superb. I immediately went to the sand bath onsen, which I had been looking forward to. There was a waiting time of about 10 minutes until the previous users left. Each group was guided and quickly entered the sand. You sweat for about 15 minutes, steamed by the heavy sand. It was nice that the staff offered to take photos if you brought a smartphone or camera... However, it was a bit disappointing that the staff seemed to be in a bad mood, possibly due to the heavy workload, as their conversations about work were loud. Since we are using the sand bath onsen for relaxation, it would be better if this aspect were improved. Also, the shower booths and changing rooms in the large bath after the sand bath onsen were not very clean, and I wished the used work clothes and towels were cleared away more quickly. It would be more comfortable if the space and flow lines for day-use bathers and overnight guests were separated. Dinner was Satsuma cuisine with a half-buffet, and we enjoyed shabu-shabu with black pork as the main dish. Even without using the buffet, there was plenty of variety and volume, and it was delicious. It was an all-you-can-drink plan for sweet potato shochu, but there were many unfamiliar brands, and it would feel more valuable if there were more major brands. The room was spacious and relaxing, and it was quiet and comfortable even after going to bed. The next morning, I used the private onsen at 7 a.m. I was able to see the sunrise at the perfect time, making it a wonderful healing time. After that, there was a breakfast buffet, but if I may say, I wished there were more vegetable salad items. Access to standard tourist spots such as "Nagasakibana," "Ryugu Shrine," "Nishi-Oyama Station," "Kaimondake," and "Lake Ikeda" is good, so it's easy to plan a schedule after checkout. However, Japan's Hawaii, Ibusuki... It was sunny in the morning, but unfortunately, it was drizzling during the sightseeing... There are vacation villages all over the whole country, so depending on the travel destination, I would like to use some facility.
