    It might not be worth the price…

    After work, I extended my stay privately and visited alone as a woman to go to Nachi Taisha Shrine. It was my first time staying at Kyukamura, and it was my fault for not confirming that there is no private family bath, but unfortunately I ended up on a day when it was difficult for me to use the baths. Having to wait until late at night when fewer people were around and then quietly use the large public bath was extremely inconvenient. (There were no related items available in the shop, and there is no convenience store nearby either, so I would really like to see improvements.) Inside the large public bath, black mold that looks like it would come off with a light scrub was noticeable, and the windows also had water stains. It is not as clean as in the official photos. The building is old, so if you arrive expecting what you see in the photos you may feel disappointed; however, the Room was very well cleaned and comfortable. Many of the staff were from overseas, but everyone worked hard and it made me want to support them. What I especially want improved is dinner. I had made a Reservation for the “Kinmedai (splendid alfonsino) & tuna” course, but aside from the tuna collar, items such as sashimi were honestly not tasty at all—it felt like an ordeal being served large amounts of food that wasn’t good. The beef in the sukiyaki was delicious, but because I had been looking forward to trying local specialties, it truly made me sad. Since I booked quite far in advance, I checked how much I paid; even at half this price for one night including this Room plus dinner and breakfast, it still feels expensive. I often use IKYU because it usually offers Accommodation quality that I can confidently recommend even to family or discerning friends. Even though this is positioned as a casual Hotel—and given this price—I did not feel it met IKYU standards at all. I’m sorry for being blunt, but I hope you will make improvements.

    The Onsen is amazing.

    The Onsen was great. The meals, including sashimi, were delicious, but the overall atmosphere felt a bit plain. It lacked a sense of elegance... Since many places have been making efforts lately, it was a little disappointing... The service also felt rather matter-of-fact. There was stargazing as well, and I thought that was wonderful.

    Memories at 68

    Kumano Katsuura Resort Village provided us with wonderful memories. The bath was absolutely amazing! The meals were delicious, and the sunrise was breathtaking and truly moving. Thank you so much. We would love to stay again!

    Sunrise View from the Open-Air Bath

    The room faces the sea, offering a great view during daylight hours. The open-air bath also faces the sea, allowing you to enjoy the sunrise during your morning soak. The meal featuring a hot pot with grouper and rice porridge afterward was incredibly delicious.

    Recommended accommodation for those who seek authenticity.

    Recent accommodations often focus on being "Instagrammable," looking great in photos but sometimes falling short in reality. However, this accommodation, while the building itself shows signs of aging, is impeccably clean and offers a very comfortable stay. The bath includes a private open-air hot spring with flowing water, offering breathtaking views of the vast ocean from a scenic cape. During my stay, it was a full moon, and I enjoyed an unforgettable moment under the moonlight accompanied by the sounds of nature. Meals are seafood-focused! Breakfast features marinated tuna rice bowls. The half-buffet style allows you to adjust portions to your appetite. Even the pickles reflect the chef's dedication to quality—everything was absolutely delicious. The evening stargazing session was unexpectedly enjoyable with detailed explanations provided by staff. The staff members were incredibly kind and attentive, making every aspect of my stay satisfying. Thanks to their support, I managed to visit Nachi Taisha Shrine and Nachi Falls despite having limited time. Thank you very much! This accommodation is highly recommended for those who value authenticity over superficial appeal.

    The staff are friendly and helpful.

    The staff were very kind and pleasant. I would love to visit again. The Kumano beef for dinner was surprisingly small, but the buffet had plenty of other options, so I left feeling full. The drinkable yogurt sold at the shop was incredibly delicious. The next day, I joined a tour to walk the Kumano Kodo trail. Since there were no other participants, I could listen closely to the guide's stories and had a wonderful experience.

    Morning Hot Spring

    I was the first to enjoy the morning bath, and for a while, I had it all to myself. The view of the bright red, massive, perfectly round sun from both the indoor and outdoor baths was so breathtaking that I couldn't help but shout with excitement! Truly, "the early bird catches the worm" applies here—what an incredible way to start the day with such a stunning bath experience! While the Facility is old and lacks a modern aesthetic, the Room's toilet has been renovated and was very clean. I’ve grown accustomed to lounges offering beer or coffee recently, so I found it slightly disappointing that such services weren’t available. However, the welcome drink was delicious! Though it came in a tasting-size glass similar to those used for water in baths—it felt quite small. For dinner appetizers, nothing stood out except for some pickled plums; even the tempura was thin and underwhelming. On a positive note, though—the sashimi was fresh; Kumano beef teppanyaki as well as breakfast items like DIY seafood bowls with sea bream stew and Kumano beef curry were absolutely delicious! All staff members were incredibly kind and welcoming—thank you very much for your hospitality!

    It was a very nice accommodation.

    We stayed with our friends as a group of four to celebrate a 60th birthday during Golden Week. To be honest, we didn’t have high expectations since it was a holiday village, but all four of us were extremely satisfied in the end. The room was clean and well-maintained, with thoughtful touches like baskets and slipper clips for the bath. The mattress seemed to be of high quality and was very comfortable to sleep on. The bath facilities were excellent, with plenty of washing areas, spacious indoor baths, covered open-air baths, lukewarm tubs with natural hot spring water flowing directly from the source, and an open-air bath offering stunning ocean views—we used them multiple times because they were so enjoyable. As for meals, everything on the basic menu was delicious. We also thoroughly enjoyed the buffet items such as tempura, curry, seafood dishes, salads, and desserts. All staff members were friendly and accommodating; they handled our small food preferences mentioned during reservation perfectly. Additionally, when we forgot something in our room after checkout, they responded quickly and kindly—this was truly appreciated. Although it’s quite far away from where we live and revisiting might not be easy anytime soon if given another opportunity in the future—we would love to stay here again!

    Comfort in the finest bath.

    It was our first time staying at a holiday village as a family of four. The Room was on the 5th floor with an ocean view, and we could even see the sunrise. The highlight was definitely the open-air bath, where we could fully enjoy the horizon as if soaking in the Pacific Ocean. The Kumano beef curry for dinner was rich and flavorful, and even the kids finished it quickly. We became fans and now want to visit other holiday villages too!
