    I’ll be back.

I traveled with my elementary school-aged daughter. There were plenty of amenities, including an Onsen, table tennis, a reading corner, a drink station, and board games available to borrow. We stayed for two nights, and she still said she wanted to stay longer. The staff were very kind, and even though we just got home, she’s already saying she wants to come back again!

    For your Obon holiday trip

We stayed here when visiting the Dinosaur Museum. There are the Main Building, Yumoto Building, East Building, and Chosei Building, so the layout inside was a bit complicated. In any case, there are many large public baths. Every bath was kept very clean, and we were extremely satisfied. The attendants also took great care of us efficiently, and we truly appreciate it. All of the food was delicious, and even our daughter—who usually doesn’t eat seafood—said it was tasty and ate it. When we come to the area again, we will stay here again. Thank you very much.

    A Refreshing Trip with Friends

I stayed here on a trip to Fukui with close friends during the Obon holiday. I was looking forward to the baths, and since this was a relaxed, unhurried trip, we arrived early for check-in. The Room (Japanese-style) was compact and very calming, but I have two notes: 1) The slippers in the unit bath felt quite old, which was a bit disappointing. The inner surface kept peeling up when I put my feet in, so they didn’t feel comfortable. 2) We stayed as three people, but there were only two cups provided. The baths I had been looking forward to were great—there were three of them and I really enjoyed them. What also made me happy was chatting with the staff member who came to lay out our futons; they advised us to go for dinner early, so we were able to get in without trouble and had a delicious, enjoyable evening. I’d like to stay again when I visit Fukui. Thank you very much.

A wide variety of baths are available.

I stayed here during a solo trip, stopping by Awara Onsen. The Hotel’s Facilities include baths in each building, so I was able to enjoy a wide variety of baths. The water quality was also excellent, and I really enjoyed Awara Onsen. If I had to mention something, the baths are spread out, so getting around inside the Hotel can be inconvenient. Also, there is no sauna Facility, so sauna lovers may find it a bit lacking. The Facilities feel somewhat dated; I imagine maintenance is challenging, but with a bit more focus on cleaning and upkeep, it could become an even better place. Overall, as an Accommodation it was relaxing and reasonably priced. Thank you for your hospitality.

    Crabs and Hot Springs

We made a reservation during crab season and enjoyed a crab course meal. The meat was packed and very satisfying. The baths were located throughout the maze-like facility, and it took us two hours before dinner to explore them all. The water quality was excellent and very relaxing. The staff provided attentive support during meals and check-in, making it a safe and comfortable accommodation even for elderly guests.

    Traditional

The Ryokan had a nostalgic Showa-era atmosphere, but the room was spacious even for one person and very clean. The staff, including the kind Nakai ladies, were attentive and caring. There were also foreign staff members, but any gaps were well-covered by experienced team members, leaving no room for dissatisfaction. Above all, the Onsen was excellent. I went to bed early at night and woke up before dawn; it was wonderful to enjoy the Onsen privately even at such an hour. Thank you for providing transportation to Awara Onsen Station upon departure as well. Despite not being overly expensive, it was a very satisfying stay.

    We stayed in a spaci...

We stayed in a spacious and quiet Japanese-style room for one night with my wife and a couple of friends, making it enjoyable for the four of us. The meals were decent with good volume considering the accommodation price, but we thought adding options like crab might have made it even better. We tried three different Onsen baths. Later, I heard from my friend that there was also a sauna, which I missed noticing—what a pity! The Onsen itself didn’t seem particularly unique but provided good warmth. It would be helpful if information about drinkability or water quality was displayed in the bath area. The usability of the Japanese-style room wasn’t great. Having only one key for four people was inconvenient. The room’s safe was just a handmade wooden box with a flimsy lock; having a proper safe is essential. As it’s an old building, there were few power outlets available; at least providing multi-outlet adapters (3 sockets) would be appreciated. We had to unplug the TV and air purifier to charge our smartphones. Towels and bath towels are individually provided but need to be brought back to the room by guests themselves. However, there was only one towel rack that could hold about five towels, which wasn’t enough for four people—we had to use hangers as substitutes. While some structural issues may be unavoidable due to the building's age, many areas could still be improved without significant expense. Listening to guest feedback or visiting other Ryokans for reference could help make this place even better. Overall though, we had fun! Thank you very much!

    First Time at Awara Onsen!

First time at Awara Onsen! There are several baths, and they are quite spacious! I was able to relax and enjoy them very comfortably. While there is some age to the place, it can be seen as history rather than oldness! As for the meals, personally, I wished for a bit more volume considering the price. The room was spacious, allowing me to unwind comfortably!

    I had a relaxing time.

The Facility is undeniably old, but personally, it didn’t bother me much. I would say it’s reasonable for the price. I had a pleasant time chatting with the staff and enjoyed my stay. One disappointing point was the drink bar in the lobby. There was no explanation about it, either in the room or elsewhere, and I only discovered its existence at check-out in the lobby.

Satisfaction may vary depending on the Plan.

A convenient location just a few minutes' walk from the station. Although it had the appearance of an old-established Ryokan, the first impression upon entering was that it was old and dark. It was notable that many of the staff at reception and other areas were foreigners. The room was a Japanese-style Room in the main building, quite aged. The air conditioning could be adjusted with a remote control. The TV was an old model about 21 inches in size. An antenna was installed indoors, possibly due to poor reception in the area, but occasionally the image would cut out, which was frustrating. There was an air purifier placed but it wouldn't turn on. There were two outlets on the wall inside; there was also one outlet at a dressing table on the veranda but it had no power supply. Incidentally, my wife found the dressing table creepy and didn't use it. Amenities included yukata robes, large and small towels, toothbrush sets, and pump soap in the unit bath—comparable to business hotels (BizHo). Meals consisted of kaiseki cuisine served at tables lined up in a banquet hall shared by about ten groups; however, small children running around made it impossible to relax. The Japanese staff were very friendly and chatted with guests without using formal language while making them laugh—a more relaxed dining experience should be sought by paying extra for private dining or Room service if desired as meals are mid-range for Ryokan standards; unfortunately rice quality disappointed being mushy though warm dishes served promptly appreciated—note self-service applies regarding rice/desserts without timing assistance from staff. There were several baths available: newer ones offered pleasant atmospheres yet men's section only featured two single-person tubs plus compact communal bath while larger facility divided into three zones based mainly upon water temperature extremes rendering high/low options unusable thus crowding one area instead; sauna present felt more like tepidarium perhaps due morning usage time frame? Outdoor baths surrounded by high walls covered overhead allowing some outside air through gaps between roof/walls technically qualifying them as outdoor spaces despite rocky ambiance enhancing experience although women's open-air bath reportedly too lukewarm causing discomfort during colder weather conditions experienced firsthand during initial holiday stay period when accommodation rates seemed elevated relative value received overall disappointing mismatch price versus experience ratio observed ultimately regrettable outcome encountered here today unfortunately indeed alas!

    Solo Refreshing Trip

The Hotel was filled with traditional buildings, creating an atmosphere full of charm. The Room may not seem brand new, but it exudes a retro ambiance with its use of earthen walls. The best part was the bath and the quality of the hot water; exploring the colorful baths healed both mind and body!

    No Meals Included Use

7,406 yen per person for a Room with No Meals Included, including access to the Onsen. Although the place is old, it is kept clean, and there was nothing particularly unpleasant. I think it's worth the price. Compared to other places of similar age in other tourist areas, I thought it was still better. The heating in the building is mild. I stayed in Room 456, but the refrigerator was noisy, so I turned it off as I didn't use it. I would appreciate it if the green tea in the Room could be individually packaged. The hot water from the Room's tap was not good, making a gurgling sound.

    Old Ryokan

The Room had an astonishingly retro feel, and the washroom and toilet were very cramped, with no typical Ryokan snacks or bottled water. Most of the staff were foreigners, making it difficult to understand the details of the Hotel.

    Great value for money!

The bath and meals were good. It was unfortunate that there were several dead mosquitoes in the unit bath of the room.
