    A beautiful Hotel

    My first time in Sakura City, and I had a great impression. I’d love to visit again.

    It’s difficult to get to the bathroom.

    There is no elevator to reach the baths, so you have to go up and down the stairs repeatedly. It is very exhausting. All of the dishes were cold—even the salt-grilled ayu was cold. The freshness was poor, and the beef was terrible. Only the barley-fed pork hot pot was edible.

    The cuisine, the Onsen, everything is wonderful.

    The food and service exceeded our expectations, and we were very satisfied. We had never been to Gunma before and weren’t sure what to expect, but we had a great time.

    An old but excellent Ryokan

    A larger Ryokan than expected. While not new, it was well-maintained and the Room was spacious. The heating worked well, and there were no complaints. The Onsen water was stated to be only 38 degrees Celsius, which felt slightly chilly. Meals were abundant both in the morning and evening, with a small kaiseki-style dinner that included two meat dishes. Overall satisfaction was very high, making this a Ryokan worth revisiting.

    It may feel a bit dated, but it offers great value for the price.

    I have been staying here every year recently. It's great to have two meals included at this price, and I am satisfied with both the quantity and quality without being too demanding. The facility feels a bit old, but that's expected for the price. This time, the toilet in my room had some issues. However, there is a shared toilet available, so it was fine. The room also had a unit bath, which should be convenient for those who are not comfortable with large public baths. It takes a short walk to reach the large public bath. The signage for gender separation could be clearer as it was slightly confusing. Since there seem to be more international guests staying here lately, making this clearer might help avoid any misunderstandings or issues. The Onsen temperature is on the cooler side; soaking in the outdoor bath during winter nights can be tough due to the cold weather. However, the indoor bath has just the right temperature. The large public bath isn't massive; I think there were about 10 washing stations. There are more foreign staff members now as well. I suppose this is becoming common across the whole country nowadays!

    Enjoy a satisfying meal.

    Meals were served in a private room, with a delicious dinner featuring Joshu beef shabu-shabu and breakfast including pork shabu-shabu. I stayed with my mother in her 80s. While she does not use a wheelchair, she had difficulty navigating the stairs, especially those leading to the large public bath (from the second floor to the first). I should have researched this beforehand. Other than that, we were satisfied and felt very relaxed.

    I visited after work...

    I visited after work. Although I arrived late, I was warmly welcomed. Being able to use the bath until late at night was very convenient. In the morning, I went to Fukiware Falls nearby. It was great to enjoy sightseeing with fewer crowds, and I was very satisfied.

    Great Onsen, Great Food

    This Ryokan offers great value for money. Although the building itself is quite old, it was surprisingly comfortable, and my spouse and I had a very restful sleep. The meals, both breakfast and dinner (a sukiyaki course for dinner), were absolutely delicious. The Onsen had a wonderfully soft texture, and in the morning, we could enjoy the view of autumn-colored mountains from the open-air bath—it was delightful. We would definitely like to stay here again. Thank you very much!

    You can relax in the bath.

    The large public bath and open-air bath are available separately for men and women. The open-air bath is not very spacious, but since the bathing hours are long, we recommend visiting late at night or early in the morning for a relaxing experience.

    The room I was provided had a kettle filled with water and a used face towel left in the bathtub. When I went to the front desk to explain the situation, they only suggested replacing the kettle with a new one. Later, a hotel staff member came to my room and confirmed that the bathroom had not been cleaned. While they claimed other areas were properly cleaned, they admitted that the bathroom was not. It seemed they were unaware of their cleaning check procedures in general. Additionally, when they brought me a replacement kettle from their spare stock, it also contained water of unknown origin or timing. This raised questions about how these items are stored and checked before being provided to guests. Although there was drinking water prepared in the room, I did not feel comfortable consuming it. The room and facilities overall showed significant signs of wear and tear. The tatami mats had many scratches and dents, appearing as though they hadn't been replaced for an extended period of time. While there wasn’t any noticeable odor from the air conditioner, just looking inside from below revealed visible dirt buildup. The legs of the desk were splintered due to peeling paint, and there was severe limescale buildup on parts of the sink faucet hidden in shadowed areas. Given these conditions, I would not recommend this hotel for those concerned about hygiene standards. I chose this hotel due to limited options at my reservation time and its price point but ultimately regretted my decision.

    The meals were satisfying both in the morning and evening. Even though it was a Multiple Night Stay, the menu was well thought out, and I was pleased with the taste, presentation, and service. One point, although the Room was upgraded, the shower toilet was broken, and worn tatami debris stuck to my knitwear, which was disappointing. The aging of the Facility is undeniable, but I believe it can still be improved with repairs and other efforts, so I look forward to future improvements.

    The building felt old and historic, and it was unfortunate that facilities like karaoke were closed, but the staff welcomed us with very kind smiles, allowing us to start the new year on a positive note... Thank you!

    Inspiration

    A property that is convenient even without a private car.

    After carefully considering "budget-friendly onsen Stays" that can be easily accessed by public transportation, I arrived here. The free shuttle service (shared) from Numata Station was truly appreciated as it was a limited transportation option. Although I felt a bit of age within the Facility, it appeared to be a long-established Ryokan, and including the phone response before my stay, I felt it was worth more than the price. ※They also accept various electronic money payments, showing a proactive attitude to cater to customers of all generations. The large bath with hot water was a concern due to the seasonal (autumn foliage season) crowd, but it was not overcrowded, and I could enjoy it relatively comfortably. I had read comments from everyone about the "delicious lobby service coffee," and I was looking forward to it, and it met my expectations. The meals, two in total, were provided in a moderate amount, and I could enjoy the local specialties deliciously. (The fact that it was not a buffet style was one of the reasons for my decision this time.) There were moments when I felt a bit busy, but I was able to thoroughly enjoy a late autumn onsen trip for one night and two days, which also included a camera walk, so I think it was overall a good choice to stay here.
