    Enjoy a variety of fun services.

    The large public bath is available from 5:30 a.m. to midnight, so I was able to enjoy the Onsen many times at different hours. Both dinner and breakfast were nourishing and truly delicious. Ryokan meals can sometimes be heavily seasoned, but here nothing was surprisingly salty, and I enjoyed everything. In the guest lounge, there were treats like dadacha-mame ice cream and Onsen manju, plus DIY Onsen eggs—these little services were a lot of fun. I also appreciated that soft drinks were unlimited. The garden is lovely, and there are also amenities like spa treatments, table tennis, and a large shogi board, so there’s plenty to enjoy inside as well. I had a luxurious time soaking in the Onsen, enjoying great food, and relaxing at the Accommodation. I would definitely love to visit again.

    Dinner

    I felt that the sukiyaki dinner, taro soup, and braised pork all tasted the same, which was disappointing. The private room was very nice. They forgot my drink, and when I reminded them, they apologized in an over-the-top way as if it were my fault, which made me uncomfortable.

    Great hot springs, great food, and great service—highly recommended in Tendo Onsen.

    Hohoemi no Yado Taki no Yu is our favorite Accommodation in Tendo Onsen that we return to again and again. The room we stayed in this time had newly updated water facilities, and the beds set in the Japanese-style room were spacious, making the stay even more comfortable. In addition to the large public bath, the breakfast buffet was arranged with plenty of space between tables, so we could enjoy our meal calmly even during busy times. Dinner was elegantly seasoned and just the right amount, and our whole family was very satisfied with the warm, smiling service from the dining staff. We would definitely like to stay again next year. By the way, it was also very convenient that the meeting point for “DMC Tendo Onsen,” which we had reserved for sightseeing in Tendo the next day, was just steps away (a 1-minute walk), highly recommended.

    Relax in a clean Room

    I made a Reservation for the anniversary celebration Plan in the Premium Suite and had a truly wonderful time. It was a shame that the in-Room bath was not an Onsen, but the Room was clean, beautifully maintained, and very comfortable to move around in. We also enjoyed delicious cake and wine. The complimentary drinks and snacks in the lounge were another welcome service. Dinner in a private room was excellent—the meat in the sukiyaki Plan was especially delicious. The imoni stew suited my taste as well. Breakfast didn’t include any dishes that particularly stood out, but it was still tasty. The only disappointment was that although check-out was at 11:00, no one came to see us off. I wondered if this is appropriate for a Ryokan. From a guest’s perspective, it isn’t pleasant, and I hope this can be understood on a human level.

    Both the cuisine and the service were outstanding. Using local organic ingredients and no artificial seasonings, this is a safe and reassuring Ryokan that truly suits the times. Please continue to be a great Ryokan—for both us guests and for everyone who works there. I believe we are entering an era in which only such Ryokan will survive. It became a wonderful memory.     Extremely comfortable!

    We stayed as a family of three and enjoyed a Yamagata Beef Sukiyaki Kaiseki meal. Although we arrived earlier than the check-in time, we were promptly guided to our room. The room was in the main building and had some signs of age in places, but it was clean and well-maintained, including the bathroom area, allowing us to stay comfortably. The air conditioning was equipped with the latest AI features, making it very comfortable. The meals were excellent from appetizers to the main Yamagata Beef Sukiyaki and dessert. There was also a buffet-style salad and Imoni (Yamagata-style soup), leaving us completely satisfied. The bath was clean, with perfect water temperature that provided relaxation for both body and mind. We also enjoyed drinks at the lounge and the Onsen egg service. All of the staff members were attentive and made our stay truly pleasant at this wonderful hotel. If we have another chance to visit Yamagata, we will definitely stay at Takinoyu again. Thank you very much!

    Maybe I expected too much.

    This Hotel had been on my list for a long time, and I finally got to visit. However, the hot spring quality was not impressive. Despite staying in an expensive Room, there were no amenities like cotton pads or swabs provided in the Room. There were two bath towels per person, but the face towels were cheap ones that shed fibers and seemed intended for takeaway use. About ten types of cosmetics were available in bottles at the sink area, but I only used the hand soap. When I called to inquire beforehand, I was told that items in the refrigerator would be free of charge; however, it was empty upon arrival. Dinner was thoughtfully prepared with care and attention to detail, but breakfast at the buffet was disappointing—by around 8:30 AM, no dishes were being replenished. The souvenir shop lacked appealing options for corporate gifts; however, there were various ramen options for personal purchase if desired. After confirming through inquiry that there would be no samue (traditional Japanese loungewear), I brought my own Room wear—it took up space but turned out to be a good decision. There wasn’t even a full-length mirror available to check how well one could wear a yukata (casual kimono). Even Business Hotels often have such mirrors near doors; this absence felt disappointing compared with where I'd stayed previously. Footsteps from upper floors echoed throughout due likely due partly because of older building construction—something understandable yet noticeable nonetheless. On another note: The lounge featured an automatic beer server machine which made pouring draft beer easy even without prior experience handling such equipment! While many aspects left much room improvement overall impression fell short expectations unfortunately staff members themselves genuinely warm hospitable thank-you kindness shown during stay!

    Delicious meals, great hot springs, and a nice accommodation, but I might not revisit for a while.

    A satisfaction rating of 3 is not the responsibility of the accommodation, but it is because I encountered someone with a tattoo on their back. For some reason, this happens frequently in the Tohoku region.

    The bath and the foo...

    The bath and the food were excellent. The outdoor bath water was too hot, so I couldn't relax in it, which was a bit disappointing. It was also a little disappointing that there was no sauna. I tried "Imoni" for the first time, and it was incredibly delicious. The meat in the sukiyaki was absolutely amazing. The dessert with large cherry pieces surprised me—it was delicious! The view of the courtyard from the Room was fantastic. I had a relaxing time and would love to visit again!

    An accommodation you'll want to visit again.

    Due to a Shinkansen vehicle malfunction, our arrival was delayed, but the smile and courteous service at the front desk eased our fatigue. I had inquired via email in advance about borrowing a curling dryer, and they kindly prepared it in the room for us. "Hohoemi no Accommodation" truly embodies hospitality. Unfortunately, we couldn't enjoy the lounge or onsen eggs due to our late arrival. However, the sukiyaki and other creatively prepared dishes were absolutely delicious. The room was spacious with a pleasant terrace. The only disappointments were that the private open-air bath in the room was not an onsen and there was no towel rack in the room. Other than that, we had a very comfortable stay. It has been 10 years since our last visit, but we will definitely stay here again when we come back to Tendo next time. Thank you for your hospitality!

    Attentive Service

    I experienced a warm and pleasant hospitality. The onsen egg-making in the garden reminded me of Granvia Housen in Hokuriku, but this place had a more spacious and charming garden and lounge. The meals might be even better with fewer dishes for more focus, but this is an accommodation that exceeds expectations beyond just the food.

    I had a very relaxing stay. Thank you for your hospitality.

    The Ryokan was very spacious, but we were guided politely upon arrival, so we had no trouble finding our way and enjoyed a comfortable stay. The Room was cleaned thoroughly, and the scented sachet in the restroom was lovely. The bath was spacious, allowing us to relax at ease. It was also convenient to know the crowd levels of the bath and dining areas while staying in the Room.

    Disappointing despite high expectations.

    The accommodation was for 2 adults and 2 children, but there were only two towels in the room, which was disappointing. It was also disappointing that we had to bring our own amenities. The breakfast buffet was underwhelming as well. We appreciate that the meal for our young child in lower elementary school was promptly changed to a kids' lunch upon request. However, the older woman at the front desk had an unfriendly attitude and poor communication, leaving us with an unpleasant impression as we departed.

    The open-air bath is refreshing and relaxing.

    With no tall buildings around, the open-air bath in the Room on the 7th floor offers a breathtaking view of Mt. Gassan, Mt. Hayama, and the Ou Mountains, providing an exceptional sense of relaxation.

    The Hotel offered a tour to Ginzan Onsen, which made me very happy. The Accommodation Fee was also reasonable, and I would recommend it to my friends.

    It was average.

    Thank you to the Shuttle Service staff for their assistance. Meals, both dinner and breakfast, were satisfactory. However, I have three points of feedback: ● The staff who guided us to the Room mentioned there were no skincare items like lotion or moisturizer available. I went out in the cold to buy some at a convenience store, but it turned out they were actually provided in the Room. Additionally, while it's appreciated that shoes are placed in the shoe rack, it would be nice if they could be neatly arranged as this was not done. ● The dressing area of the bath was cold. ● The bed sheets were not properly arranged and seemed carelessly handled. I hope these issues can be improved upon moving forward.

    Venue for the Ryuo Championship

    I was surprised to hear that this property hosts the Ryuo Tournament. Although my requested time for the shuttle service to Tendo Station on my return was outside the hotel's offered hours, they kindly accommodated me. All the meals were delicious and filling. I would love to stay again.

    Great value for money

    The main reason for staying at this hotel is the shuttle bus to Ginzan Onsen, which departs from here, and it only takes 10 minutes by train from Tendo Station to Yamagata Station. The meals included in the one-night two-meal plan are excellent. I stayed for two nights; one day was Yamagata beef sukiyaki, and the other was steak, with a buffet breakfast—great value! During your stay, you can also make your own Onsen eggs. In the afternoon, there are free drinks available, and after soaking in the Onsen, you can enjoy some beer—refreshing! The hotel is quite far from the train station; remember to book a pick-up service with the hotel. Otherwise, dragging luggage through snow to get to the hotel can be challenging.

    A Happy Journey

    We came from Taiwan, and it was our first time staying at Takinoyu, the Smiling Stays of Tendo. It was a very good experience. The shuttle service to the station, the counter staff, the hotel facilities, and the onsen were all top-notch. We will choose Takinoyu, the Smiling Stays, again next time.

    It was a very good Hotel.

    It was a quiet Hotel with a calm atmosphere. It was clean and well-maintained, making my stay very pleasant. The large public bath was spacious and very clean. I was delighted with the draft beer service after the bath. In the morning, when I was about to go out, I found my car tire was flat, and I was in trouble. A gentleman from the Hotel kindly assisted me. He came to the parking lot to check the tire and contacted a repair shop for me. The person at the repair shop was also very kind, which was a great help. While waiting for the repair, I was allowed to use the lobby, and they even made coffee for me. In a time of trouble, their calm and kind response was truly appreciated, turning a travel mishap into a warm memory. It made me think that I should also help someone in need if I ever encounter them. I would like to stay at this Hotel again when I visit Tendo City next time. Although I went out for dinner this time, I think the Hotel's dinner would be nice, as the breakfast was very delicious.

    Luxurious Japanese-style Stays

    We stayed as a family when visiting a relative's house. The welcome service free drinks in the lounge were all delicious. The room was spacious and clean, and the view of the courtyard from the room was nice, providing a relaxing experience. The dinner course was extremely delicious, and the Yamagata imoni was also exquisite with free refills, and the free refill salad service was also appreciated. The breakfast buffet had a wide variety of dishes, including local homemade dishes and Western cuisine, and everything was excellent. The large public bath was wonderful, with an outdoor bath available, and the amenities were well-equipped, leaving us very satisfied. If I may offer an opinion, having a trendy sauna might attract more young people to make reservations. Overall, it was a very good and friendly hotel.

    It was a traditional onsen Stays.

    The property had a nostalgic feel in both good and bad ways. The onsen is spacious and allows for a relaxing soak. The meals are very delicious, but the portions were a bit too large, which was a bit of a problem.

    A spacious and luxurious Ryokan

    I stayed with my niece and daughter who live in Yamagata. The room was spacious, and we enjoyed a leisurely and delicious dinner in a private dining area. Since we stayed in the main building, there were steps between the toilet and the room, but it was spacious and comfortable. The comforter was a bit thick and slightly warm. The hotel staff's greetings were wonderful. The garden and bath were also spacious, and I thought the cost performance was very good. I would like to use it again when I visit Tendo Onsen.

    It was a nice Stays.

    Thank you for your meticulous attention. The Room's open-air bath was spacious and had a great view. I think the pork shabu-shabu pairs well with Yonezawa beef, but I believe it would look even better with shoulder loin or belly meat rather than just loin. The imoni I tried for the first time has become a favorite of mine. I hope you continue to develop along the lines of local production for local consumption. It would have been appreciated if there was an ice machine on the upper floors.

    The hotel is close to the station and has a wonderful hot spring.

    The hotel was close to Tendo Station, had a nice hot spring, and a well-maintained courtyard with a sense of openness. I stayed in the new building, and the room was spacious and very comfortable! As for the meals, the Yamagata specialty, imoni soup, was very delicious. Although the portions were quite large, some dishes were a bit cold. Considering the relatively older age group of the guests, I think it would be better to reduce the number of dishes and slightly improve the quality. The breakfast buffet was good.

    I was very satisfied.

    We stayed with four generations, including my 93-year-old mother, to celebrate her birthday with my daughter and 2-year-old grandchild. Thank you for accommodating our detailed requests regarding the room and meals. My mother was very satisfied with the beautiful room and food, and my grandchild loved making hot spring eggs and the koi in the pond. Above all, the barrier-free facilities were a great help. Thank you to the hotel reception staff, room attendants, and dining staff for your courteous service. We would love to visit again. Thank you for this time. It became a wonderful memory.
