    The bath is nice.

    - Bath: High quality overall, including the scenery and sauna. - Dining: Flavors are generally heavy and not very refined, and some ingredient pairings are questionable (e.g., eel with a soft-boiled egg). Some items were also cut rather roughly. If you expect the carefully prepared cuisine typical of an Onsen Ryokan, you may be disappointed. - Service: Overall feels subdued; staff often avoid eye contact. There were several instances where even simple requests took a long time to handle. - Other: The Room air conditioning is difficult to adjust—too cold at night and not cool enough in the morning.

    A dinner that falls far short of expectations, including sashimi served.

    The meal was extremely disappointing. I understand that, being in the mountains, I shouldn’t expect sashimi-level freshness, but it had been a long time since I encountered tuna that was so dark and discolored from freezer burn and so watery. I couldn’t eat it and ended up leaving everything else as well. In my opinion, it would have been better not to serve it at all. The chopped tuna at breakfast was fine. I came hoping to enjoy the Onsen and a good meal, so this was truly disappointing.

    It was a very cozy Ryokan.

    I was looking for an Onsen I could reach from Nagaoka Station, happened to find this Onsen Ryokan, and decided to stay. As it was my first time hearing of this hot spring area, I honestly didn’t expect much—but in the best way, it exceeded my expectations and made for a very comfortable stay. Since I chose a budget Room without windows, it felt similar to a single Room in a Business Hotel. For that reason I gave the Room three stars, but I selected it knowing what to expect, so there were no issues at all. Amenities were fully provided in the Onsen changing area and were well stocked. What stood out most were the Onsen and the meals. The Onsen facilities are all in one area, with an indoor bath, an open-air bath, and a sauna. True to its “panoramic” name, the baths aren’t especially large, but the view is genuinely excellent—you can overlook the Echigo Plain. The water temperature was just right as well; it was so relaxing I could have stayed in forever. The night view was also beautiful, and I ended up soaking for a long time. After using the sauna, cooling off outside on the chairs by the open-air bath felt wonderful. The meals featured plenty of fresh ingredients from Sado Island; everything looked beautiful and tasted great. There were many dishes so I worried I might not finish them all, but each portion was modestly sized so I could enjoy everything without feeling overly full. I dined at a table set up in a large hall; guests staying in higher-grade Rooms seem to be able to choose in-room dining as well, so you can pick what suits you best. The staff worked efficiently without ever rushing me, and everyone greeted me properly—I was able to relax throughout my stay. I arrived completely worn out from work day after day, but thanks to the excellent Onsen and food along with warm service, I left refreshed and re-energized. Even as a limited-time discount rate (one night with two meals) 15 ,200 yen feels like an incredible value. Thank you very much for taking care of me!

    Stayed with children and had a great time.

    We stayed in a room with a private open-air onsen with our 2-year-old child. Here are some points we noticed, which may be helpful for those considering staying here. We stayed in the "Modern Kiriwa Room with Private Open-Air Onsen." The room had full flooring without tatami mats, and although it was spacious, there were few places to relax comfortably, which was disappointing. Additionally, the only sink was located in the toilet area, so even boiling water required going to the toilet. It was an unusual room layout. The private open-air onsen in the room was nice; however, since the washing area was also outside, it felt challenging during this time of year (November). Our child ended up using the public bath to wash. The public bath's changing area felt small for a hotel of this size. We used it during peak hours when it was very crowded and couldn’t take our time changing clothes before quickly leaving with our child. However, the onsen itself was pleasant. For meals, dinner was served in semi-private rooms while breakfast was offered as a buffet in a banquet hall. The breakfast buffet had limited local dishes and honestly didn’t have many appealing options. We were hoping for a more exciting breakfast experience and feel there’s room for improvement here. In the lounge area, we enjoyed relaxing while listening to records being played—a nice touch—but as mentioned by others in reviews, it felt slightly cold. Overall service wasn’t bad throughout our stay. With accommodation prices rising everywhere recently, we honestly expected an experience more aligned with what we paid for. Thank you for hosting us!

    We had a blissful time.

    I stayed for one night alone. I had business in Niigata City and chose Koyanagi as a place to relax for a day. It felt surprisingly close, about 30 minutes by train from the city to Tagami Station. The Hotel staff kindly picked me up from Tagami Station, which was very helpful. The Hotel was quiet, the infinity open-air bath was comfortable, and with a sauna available, it’s the perfect place to spend a relaxing time at the Hotel!

    The meals were terrible, making for a disappointing stay.

    The room was clean, and the staff were kind. However, beyond that, the stay was honestly very disappointing. Amenities were minimal with only a toothbrush provided, and there was just one bath towel, which was surprising. The dining area had an outdated banquet hall atmosphere from the Showa era. During dinner, each table cooked rice in individual pots, making it uncomfortably hot. The glaring white fluorescent lights made it hard to relax. The food itself was underwhelming; there wasn’t a clear main dish, the sashimi felt like supermarket quality, and the sherbet dessert was so hard it became unappetizing. Breakfast was also served buffet-style in the same outdated banquet hall setting as dinner. Like dinner, it lacked appeal and fell far below what is expected for accommodations in this price range. Additionally, there was a constant incense-like smell throughout the facility that could be unpleasant for those sensitive to such scents. The outdoor bath in the public bath area felt too small for the number of guests and didn’t allow for relaxation. A bottle of beer from the fridge cost 860 yen—a steep price point. Including drinks during our stay brought our total bill to approximately 50,000 yen; however, the service did not justify this cost at all—it left us feeling more saddened than anything else. The meals were particularly disappointing—so much so that I found myself wanting to wake up early just to leave as soon as possible during my stay—a first-time experience for me. This hotel left such a poor impression that it even negatively affected my image of Niigata overall.

    Flexible response to issues

    We stayed at the accommodation during our summer vacation as a couple. Despite a power outage caused by heavy rain, the excellent response left a positive impression. The building seems old, but it was well-cleaned, and the meals were delicious with just the right portions. We look forward to visiting again.

    We sincerely appreciate your kindness.

    This was my second stay. My first visit was about 10 years ago, and since it was such a wonderful hotel, I decided to use it this time for a celebratory occasion. Everything from the staff's thoughtfulness and service to the food was highly satisfying. I stayed with my children, and they seemed to love it so much that they wanted to stay another night! My son especially mentioned being impressed by the view from the open-air bath on the 6th floor. I would love to stay here again!

    Many guests with inf...

    Many guests with infants felt reassured and were able to stay comfortably with their babies. The building has a traditional charm in places, and kerosene heaters were provided in colder areas, making it overall barrier-free and comfortable. Additionally, the accommodation was very accommodating regarding baby food for infants, which was highly satisfying.

    The sauna and Onsen are recommended.

    The sauna is small, but it has an auto löyly and the temperature is comfortable. The quality of the Onsen water is good, especially the open-air bath which is perfect for relaxing while gazing at the distant cityscape. I didn't have high expectations for the meals, but they were surprisingly delicious. The service isn't particularly attentive and seems to be mainly handled by part-timers, but I found it sufficient. I chose a Room with an outdoor bath, so it was spacious and nice, and considering that, it was quite affordable which made me very satisfied. As a sauna enthusiast, this Ryokan has become one of my important places to stay. I'll come again.

    It was a satisfying Stays.

    My skin was smooth after entering the Onsen. The kaiseki cuisine was delicious and just the right amount for seniors! The night view from the open-air bath was beautiful, and the morning bath scenery was pleasant, making me want to enter multiple times. It was also nice to have a cordless vacuum cleaner in the changing room. I thought it would be better if the TV in the Room was positioned a little higher, but it was a Property I would definitely like to visit again.

    Luggage, towels, air conditioning

    I was surprised to have to carry my luggage to the Room myself. It would have been nice to have unlimited towel use. It's disappointing to have to dry and reuse the same towel multiple times when I want to enjoy the bath. There is a floor at the back of the front desk where you can listen to records, which was nice, but it was very cold. It would be nice if the temperature throughout the facility was consistent. It's too cold to stay long. The food, bath, and sauna were good.

    Stay in a universal room

    It was a property with good access, close to Niigata Airport. Upon arrival, when I informed the staff of my reservation name, they asked, "Shall we prepare a wheelchair?" However, since my caregiver was absent to park the car, I said I would go up the ramp myself. Despite this, I was placed in a wheelchair, and I thought the staff would assist me, but instead, they whispered among themselves, "The family will assist," and left me at the bottom of the entrance stairs. My elderly mother had already entered the hotel and was carrying the luggage, but she had to come down the stairs to push the wheelchair... The initial response was disappointing. Inside the hotel, the ramp was installed later and was only accessible with an electric wheelchair. It might be a convenient ramp for strollers. The wheelchair was an original hotel wheelchair, seemingly adjusted for lightweight elderly users. The room was barrier-free with handrails in the toilet. The onsen was accessible by wheelchair up to the changing room. There was a chair for care in the bath, but it was a chair with non-adjustable leg length, so I borrowed a chair for sauna rest to wash my body. I was looking forward to dinner, as it had high reviews, and it was the second and final day of the trip. However, we were guided to an old banquet hall, and the dishes were brought one after another, making us feel rushed. Breakfast, as mentioned in the reviews, had a buffet cart, with rental of children's tableware and microwave heating for baby food.
