The young children were very satisfied.

It was a very enjoyable stay for our kindergarten-aged child. Both dinner and breakfast were full of foods kids love. They had fun making their own ice cream, and they could also bring chocolate syrup and chocolate toppings from a separate area to create their own pancakes. (We wished there had been pancake syrup in the kids’ corner.) The Onsen temperature was set low for children (it might feel lukewarm for adults), and our child stayed in for about an hour. The only downside was that the photos in the information showed a drum washing machine, but there wasn’t one in reality. Other than that, they offer lots of children’s activities, so I think it’s an excellent Hotel for families with kids. We’d like to come again in winter.

    There was a shuttle ...

There was a shuttle bus from Echigo-Yuzawa to the Hotel, so getting there was easy. The 24-hour open-air bath was great—I could use it after the event without worrying about the time. The Facility were also good, with ReFa shampoo and hair dryers, and it was helpful to have a convenience store inside the Hotel. However, the air conditioning in the guest room didn’t work very well, so it might be hard to sleep on very hot midsummer days.

We stayed in a Japanese-Western style room, but…

The Room was spacious and nice, but... The towels had an odd fold on top that didn’t look like it was done by Hotel staff, and they felt slightly damp, which was unpleasant. There was no in-room phone to request a replacement; I had to access a site on my smartphone and enter contact details, which was a hassle. There was also partially melted ice left in the ice bucket from a previous guest, and it clearly hadn’t been washed. I didn’t feel like using the cups either. I did enjoy the outdoor water activities. They seem to be trying to systematize everything, but it’s not user-friendly.

A wide variety of dining options

We stayed here as an overnight stop on our way to the Sea of Japan, since we left in the evening after our child came home from school. When we arrived, check-in required entering information on a screen, which was unexpectedly tricky... I found myself wishing for the traditional counter check-in. After that, even reserving a dining time was done by smartphone... It may be fine for younger guests, but I felt it could be difficult as you get older. The food—both dinner and breakfast—had an incredible variety. We were thrilled with the fish and meat grilled right in front of us, tempura, and more. It was my first time experiencing a buffet like this! The bath was spacious, and there were about six additional shampoo options at the entrance besides the standard amenities. You could take only what you needed in small paper cups, so I was happy to try shampoos I’d been curious about. Since it was before peak season, it wasn’t crowded, which was great! However, because we stayed on Friday night, it was disappointing that we couldn’t join the weekend festival stalls or the puzzle-solving event held on Saturday and Sunday.

I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious the breakfast and dinner buffet were—it felt far better than the price would suggest. The bath was also spacious, clean, and very nice. The festival and fireworks were fun, and our child really enjoyed them. All the staff were hardworking, which was great. However, it was disappointing that the Room had an odor. I think the carpet may have been the cause.

    I’m a returning guest.

The facilities and the Onsen were very clean, and I felt comfortable everywhere throughout the property. The meals were delicious, beautifully presented, and highly satisfying. All of the staff were kind from start to finish, and their thoughtful attention to detail left a strong impression. Thanks to them, I was able to relax and enjoy a comfortable stay with peace of mind—it was a wonderful experience that I would love to return for.

    The meals were good.

Dinner and breakfast were very good. It was also nice that it is next to a kids’ ski slope. The Room is old and dusty, so caution is needed. There was an alarming amount of dust on top of the light fixtures.

A retro, Showa-era ski resort condominium vibe.

It didn’t feel like a Hotel; it came across more like a retro Showa-era ski resort condominium. 1) The lobby is small, and there is no luggage storage before check-in or after check-out. There are only coin lockers that charge a fee each time you open/close them and accept only 500-yen coins, which was inconvenient for skiing. 2) Ski rentals are through an affiliated shop next to the Hotel, but payment is cash only, which was inconvenient. Guests who didn’t know in advance seemed to panic. 3) On the way back we used the Shuttle Service bus that runs every 30 minutes, but it filled up and we ended up waiting in line for 30 minutes. Since there are Shinkansen schedules to catch, I wish there were measures to make timing more reliable—such as a reservation system, multiple vehicles so everyone lined up at departure time can board, or continuous shuttle runs. In the past you could also use JR Echigo-Nakazato Station, but now service is infrequent and inconvenient.

    Recommended for families.

We stayed as a family for skiing. The check-in process is systemized for efficiency, and I struggled a bit at first, but the front desk staff kindly helped us, which was very reassuring. Both breakfast and dinner were excellent, with Niigata specialties and live grilling of fish and meat right in front of us—both kids and adults were very satisfied. My family loved the ramen, and I especially enjoyed the amazake. Truly a region known for its rice! The baths in the new building were clean, spacious, and offered a variety of options, which was fun. The hot water was perfect for me since I like it on the hotter side. Since skiing was our main purpose, having the slopes right in front of the hotel was extremely convenient. We also appreciated having a convenience store in the lobby. There were many international guests who spoke loudly at times, so it may not be ideal for those who are sensitive to noise or want a quiet stay; however, we felt that families may actually find it easier to relax in such a lively atmosphere. We really enjoyed both the meals and the Onsen, so we would love to stay again for next year’s ski trip. Thank you very much.

Honestly, it’s a very ordinary Hotel except for the staff.

    Lockers and changing rooms are...

We stayed in a spacious room with 4 adults and 4 children. While there were many great aspects, the disappointing parts were too significant to overlook. I’m writing this review in hopes of improvement so we can consider returning. 【What We Loved】 - Tokyo to Echigo-Yuzawa is just over an hour by Shinkansen. - Only a 10-minute shuttle bus ride from Echigo-Yuzawa Station. - Fun to stay with 8 people in one large room. - The room has a drum-type washing machine, allowing us to travel light. - The ski slope is right in front of the hotel, and Yukiyuki Land is just steps away for immediate fun. - Spacious public bath; the women’s bath in the annex has a kids’ dressing table that delighted our girls. - High-quality ReFa hair dryers available at the public bath. - Gym and indoor pool facilities are available. - A FamilyMart inside the hotel open until 11 PM. - The breakfast and dinner buffets are incredibly luxurious! - Kids loved their dedicated buffet corner. 【What Disappointed Us】 We arrived around 11 AM before check-in, intending to start skiing immediately, but found out that guest lockers are only available from 3 PM onward, leaving us no choice but to use paid coin lockers (500 yen) and changing rooms instead: 1) **Coin Lockers**: These were cramped with two-tiered compartments; opening one door made it impossible for others behind you to pass through due to lack of space. 2) **Changing Rooms**: Shockingly small and poorly maintained—used bandages or unused sanitary products littered on floors remained untouched even after two days (from Day 1 morning till Day 2 afternoon). Cleaning seemed almost nonexistent. 3) **Overcrowding**: Since guest lockers weren’t accessible before check-in at 3 PM or after checkout on departure day either (!), families had no option but crowd into these inadequate spaces where opening suitcases filled up all remaining floor area quickly among multiple groups simultaneously. 4) **Temperature Issues**: Outside temperatures reached -6°C requiring heavy layers outdoors while inside overheated changing areas caused excessive sweating during outfit changes—a frustrating combination especially when managing children amidst such chaos! On Day One post-skiing (~11:30 AM–4 PM), retrieving luggage back upstairs felt like relief compared against enduring another round navigating those subpar facilities again next morning onwards Breakfast time is too early.

Snowboarding and skiing were excellent, but the breakfast time felt too early, almost as if it wasn't meant to be enjoyed. It might not be ideal for guests with children.

Please improve the Facility for use before check-in and after check-out.

It is understandable that free ski lockers are no longer available, but the current system of using lockers that cannot be reopened before or after check-in and only accept 500 yen coins needs improvement. Having to prepare a 500 yen coin every time you open the locker, especially when changing clothes or shoes due to weather conditions or going out for meals, was inconvenient. Please consider switching to lockers like those in other facilities where reopening is possible for a flat fee of 1,000 yen per use. Additionally, there are too many places such as ski schools and rental shops that only accept cash. It was inconvenient that even though lesson applications can be made within the Hotel, cashless payment options were not available for transactions.

We had a very comfortable stay.

The all-in-one setup—check-in, check-out, room key, and meal vouchers all handled on a single mobile phone—was new and interesting. The meals were delicious, and I was able to relax in the Onsen, making my stay very comfortable. I would love to stay again if I have the opportunity.

    Great value for money!

This was my first time staying here. The Facility is slightly old, and the Room felt like a renovated resort apartment turned into a Hotel, but it was spacious with two twin beds and two sofa beds, so I had no complaints. The bath is available 24 hours, allowing me to use it during less crowded times. Dinner included live cooking with steak and rice balls, offering satisfaction beyond its price. Last year, I stayed at a nearby Otani Hotel where the price was more than 1.5 times higher; while they featured snow crab as their highlight, other offerings were not impressive—this place is definitely more recommended. From check-in to check-out via smartphone and receiving the door key by email, their efforts to reduce manpower are innovative. I hope they continue striving amidst rising costs!

Excellent value for money. Perfect for rice lovers!

Japanese-Style Large Room (94㎡, Max 8 Guests) - Child-Friendly Room [Non-Smoking] (Japanese-Style) Plan. A delightful buffet for rice lovers. The live kitchen offers delicious dishes such as grilled meat, turban shell baked in its shell, ramen, and hegi soba. However, perhaps due to the northern region's influence, it would be appreciated if the ramen broth and side dishes had a slightly milder saltiness. From starters to desserts, the buffet is exceptional with no compromises (both dinner and breakfast). While I personally didn’t mind at all, since this is a child-friendly hotel, those who might be concerned about children in the dining area should keep this in mind when using it. With such a wide variety of menu options available, having more serving carts would be helpful. The availability of newspapers was also appreciated. The room was equipped with a drum washing machine with drying function; promoting this feature could be beneficial. Although I didn’t use the pool due to circumstances, having a convenience store on the first floor was very convenient. Check-in is generally done via tablets next to the front desk; however, for IKYU reservations without QR codes initially caused some confusion. A clearer start to reception would be helpful. The key system for room entry was innovative and convenient—a first-time experience for me but well-designed. It might also help if there were signs indicating which direction is one-way at the hotel entrance car drop-off area. This is definitely a hotel worth supporting!

    We had a great time.

The activities at the Hotel were a big hit with the kids. We chose a spacious Japanese-style Room, which was also well-received for its large living space! However, it was unfortunate that the child’s toilet seat was left dirty and unusable, and lint remained in the washing machine after drying. Having access to baby bottle detergent and a diaper disposal bin was incredibly helpful! The meals were delicious, and the kids didn’t want to leave. We couldn’t join the river play activity this time, but we’d love to try it next time!

    A Trip with Grandchildren

We stayed as a couple of grandparents with two grandchildren. The Accommodation Fee was affordable and reasonable. The meals included plenty of options for children, and the adult dishes were more than satisfactory. The grandparents enjoyed the all-you-can-drink alcohol, which was excellent. Additionally, the grandchildren loved the festival-themed activity corner and expressed their desire to visit again. This is a great place for family trips!

Just an inconvenient and dirty Hotel.

Due to the Nagaoka Fireworks Festival, other hotels were fully booked, so I had no choice but to make a Reservation here. The Hotel is attempting to automate everything digitally, but from the guest's perspective, it has only become more inconvenient. It does not translate into value and seems solely for their own profit. Additionally, the Room was dirty compared to the photos, and I couldn't eat breakfast as it was on a first-come-first-served basis and I couldn't Reserve my preferred time. How long will it take for them to realize this misguided digital transformation before losing guests?

    ほほみたん

This might be the worst ever.

The staff at the reception seemed unhelpful, and it was frustrating to go back and forth without clear answers. There wasn’t even an apology for the inconvenience. Using a locker for water activities cost 500 yen, which felt unreasonable. The event staff appeared unmotivated and uninterested; if that’s the case, they shouldn’t host such summer festivals. Check-in at 3 PM resulted in long lines, and many guests seemed confused about smart check-in procedures. The food selection was limited. The Room had an unpleasant smell, and the air conditioning was noisy. Air conditioning in hallways and public baths didn’t work well at all; I ended up sweating even after taking a bath. I don’t think I’ll ever return again.

The shuttle service requires standing for an hour, and the bus is overcrowded.

There is a bus waiting area a short walk from the station, but when I arrived around 1:10 PM, the line was already extending outside as there wasn't enough room inside. According to the timetable, buses only came every 30 minutes, and after waiting in the cold for an hour and a half, I finally got on an old Toei bus. It was packed tightly, and even small children and mothers with babies had no choice but to stand for 20 minutes without mercy. By the time we reached the Hotel, we were exhausted. Even though it should be known that long weekends are the busiest times, it's terrible that no measures like chartering larger buses or increasing frequency were taken. We paid over 200,000 yen to come to this resort only to have an unexpectedly bitter start. The bus waiting area is also cold. Additionally, if people in front of us at the waiting area moved up more closely together, those standing outside in the cold could fit inside; however, there were no staff members present for traffic control which resulted in an unreasonable situation. The Room(s), meals (food), and bath(s) were good but I will not repeat my stay here again; it was not worth spending over 200 thousand yen at this Property (Stays).

Even though it is supposed to be child-friendly...

I have used it many times before. The buffet was renewed, and I stayed with my children looking forward to it, but the pancake machine in one corner of the buffet area. My child took a bite and spat it out! What happened? I thought, and when I tried it, was it ginger-flavored? Pancake? Why is that? The menu after the buffet renewal seems to have a strong local flavor. At the very least, I would like the sweets to be plain.

    I had a comfortable stay.

We stayed for the first time as a parent and child. We spent a relaxing time in the room. The Onsen was pleasant, and we enjoyed it both at night and in the morning. The meals were more delicious than expected. If there is a family bath or a private bath, I would like to bring my wife who has difficulty walking.

Stays on the way back from visiting home

Stayed on the way back to Tokyo. The room was a spacious apartment type and was nice. The window fan was disappointing. The meals, both dinner and breakfast, included Niigata specialties and were satisfying. The location of the drinks felt a bit far. I think it would be great to stay here for skiing or snowboarding.
