    Sea Urchin, Sea Squirt, and Kesennuma’s Night View

    This time I wanted to try fishing at Kesennuma Port, so I stayed at this Accommodation because it’s close to the fishing spots. It’s located on a hill right in front of the port, with a great view. From the main entrance you can overlook all of Kesennuma Port, and it was such a refreshing place. What’s more, thanks to the very unique elevator tower, it was super convenient—I could get to the fish market on ground level in just 2–3 minutes. The building itself feels a bit retro and has a Showa-era vibe, so it may not be for everyone, but I found it very comfortable. What really impressed me was the night view of Kesennuma Port—and the sea urchin and hoya! The scenery completely changes from daytime; with the illumination it felt almost like a theme park. I was truly moved. I also enjoyed night fishing while taking in the lights—please do see it in person if you can. And the dinner served this time—sea urchin on its shell and hoya sashimi—was incredible. The sea urchin I had before at a Hotel in Minamisanriku was delicious too, but Kesennuma’s sea urchin is no joke! It had rich sweetness and umami and tasted amazing. The hoya sashimi may have been the best I’ve ever had. The ocean aroma and perfectly firm texture were irresistible for anyone who loves hoya. All staff were polite and very pleasant. Some seemed new, but their sincerity came through, and it made me feel this is a well-run Hotel. I suppose there’s no helping that some Facility areas are a bit old, but even taking that into account, I’d definitely like to stay again.

    Dinner was excellent...

    Dinner was excellent, with a wide variety of small portions beautifully presented. Breakfast was a buffet, but the bread is only noticeable at the end of the food line, so I would appreciate it if this could be indicated near the entrance.

    It was a safe and very satisfying meal!

    I stayed at this Hotel once shortly before the Great East Japan Earthquake, and the meals were so delicious that I was completely satisfied, so I chose to stay again for the first time in 15 years. Since we had a Japanese-style Room this time, it has a retro Showa-era feel, but it was thoroughly cleaned and very tidy, so we had a comfortable stay. The large public bath was also clean, and we enjoyed the Onsen. It’s open from 4:00 a.m., so we were able to watch the sunrise from the open-air bath—an excellent start to the day. The meals were just as wonderful as they were 15 years ago—everything was fresh and truly delicious, and we were very satisfied. I have food allergies and was worried, but when I asked about them at the time of Reservation, they accommodated my request. I really appreciated being able to eat with peace of mind. When I visit Kesennuma again, I would like to stay at this Hotel.

    The view is amazing!

    They upgraded us to a Room with a great view, and we had a very comfortable stay. During meals, the staff member in charge was polite and pleasant, which left a strong impression. The natural Onsen was also wonderful. We chose the lighter meal course, but everything was delicious and satisfying. The abalone was especially good. However, it was a bit disappointing that we couldn’t fully confirm the menu in advance, so we weren’t able to add any special dishes by 5:00 PM. Breakfast items like natto and freshly made tamagoyaki were delicious. Also, the bath is available until 9:00 AM. Since we chose the later breakfast time (two-seat system), I only realized after eating and rushed to get in. I would have liked to relax while enjoying the view. If I visit Kesennuma again, I’d love to stay here again. I was also happy to receive a Hoya Boya clear file after filling out the questionnaire.

    We look forward to improved staff responsiveness.

    Overall, this Hotel was very satisfying thanks to its hilltop location and delicious food. This time, it was my fault: I had a Reservation for two, but we ended up being three on the day. When I called in the morning, they repeatedly insisted that because it was the same day, they could not add a person even if we switched to No Meals Included. For a Hotel of this size, is it really possible that supplies are that tight? Couldn’t you make it three by adjusting or reducing the meal content? At the very least, breakfast is buffet-style, so you should be able to accommodate one more person. At minimum, couldn’t they say something like, “We want you to enjoy your trip—let us consider some options. Could you please wait a moment?” and call back? It felt like the staff couldn’t imagine how the customer would feel and were simply following a manual. Also, if they had noted this exchange somewhere, the front desk could have at least said something when we arrived. I’m sharing this feedback in hopes that you will become an even better Hotel.

    Morning Onsen is especially recommended.

    I always look forward to staying here. It would be great if cleansing products and facial soap were available in the bathroom. I would appreciate it if the sashimi and salad at breakfast were served cold. A more meticulous presentation of the sashimi would also leave a better impression. The room is spacious with a calm atmosphere, making it feel very luxurious for a solo stay. The bath features salt onsen water, is clean, and offers a beautiful view of Kesennuma Bay below—especially refreshing in the morning.

    It was a short stay, but I had a very comfortable time. (Unfortunately, I couldn't use the breakfast or Onsen, so I will refrain from commenting on them.) I would love to stay here again when visiting Kesennuma next time, but I hope the following points could be improved: - Number of towels: The room provided only one bath towel and one hand towel per person (a total of two towels). It would be convenient to have an additional towel available for indoor use. - Water and soft drink vending machines: After the shop in the facility closes at 9 PM, it becomes difficult to get soft drinks. It would be great if there were vending machines dedicated to soft drinks (there was an alcohol vending machine on the accommodation floor).

    I made the Reservation without high expectations, and I deeply apologize.

    I never expected to enjoy such delicious seafood at this price. The abalone was truly dancing, and everything else was absolutely delightful. I would love to visit again just for the meals next time!

    Wonderful Hotel!

    I stayed the night before attending a forum in Rikuzentakata on January 31. I traveled from Itami to Sendai Airport and used the free Shuttle Service from Sendai Station. It was very convenient, and during the ride from Minamisanriku Hotel Kanyo, I was given explanations about the disaster remains in Minamisanriku Town and Kesennuma. I stayed in a corner twin Room for single use, and the view was amazing (you can see the sunrise from the Room). The Onsen was also wonderful and very relaxing. Above all, the seafood meals were exceptional, featuring local specialties such as yellowfin tuna sashimi and shabu-shabu, which I thoroughly enjoyed. And the price was incredibly reasonable. I highly recommend staying here, not only for the experience but also to support the recovery of the Sanriku region.

    Great value for money

    The meals are amazing. The view is great. The bath is excellent. There is a free Shuttle Service from Sendai. I will definitely visit again.

    Great value for money! It was a wonderful Stays.

    It was my first time in Kesennuma for work. I reserved a room with an ocean view, but it turned out to be on a lower floor with the church roof obstructing the view. When I requested a room change, they kindly moved me to a Japanese-style room with a better view. Although it was a work trip, seeing the ocean was one of my goals, so I appreciate their accommodation. The meals were filled with the seafood of Kesennuma, and I was very satisfied. Breakfast was also delicious. The onsen was great too. For this price with two meals, it was excellent. Next time, I will repeat with my husband!

    The sashimi for dinn...

    The sashimi for dinner was incredibly delicious. I usually get too full, so I was thinking of skipping the rice at the end, but there was a lot of salmon roe, and the white rice was just the right amount and delicious, so I ended up eating it all. Everything from the appetizers to the dessert was delicious. The breakfast buffet had a limited variety, but everything was so tasty that I ended up overeating. Everywhere was clean, and the staff's service was at a comfortable distance, making it pleasant. Kesennuma is full of delicious food and many attractions, so I would love to stay here again when I travel. Thank you very much.

    Autumn Trip for Couples

    I used this for my first trip to the Tohoku region. I received a detailed explanation from the parking lot upon arrival. During meals, everything was explained thoroughly, and I enjoyed the delicious food. One thing that bothered me was the smell coming from the Room's washroom, which lingered there. I would like to use it again.

    The meals are delicious, and the bath was great.

    The facility shows its age, but the onsen and meals were excellent. For dinner, I chose the standard Ume course, which had a variety of dishes with high quality and left me very full. Breakfast also offered many options, and the buffet layout was easy to navigate. Everything was truly delicious. The staff provided polite and attentive service without being overbearing. Overall, it was a satisfying stay. If I were to suggest improvements, it would be helpful if used tea leaves and cups could be cleared when setting up the futon after drinking tea with the provided teapot. Additionally, the air conditioning only had three settings: low, medium, and high; even on low it felt too strong at times. More adjustable settings would have been appreciated. I was generally satisfied and would like to stay here again when visiting Kesennuma.
