    Stayed for one night.

    A lakeside corner Room—fireworks went up right in front of us, and we had a great view. As for the meal, the tempura was cold and didn’t seem freshly fried. To finish, we were served Himi udon and rice balls—double carbs, really? And even though it’s called udon, it wasn’t in a generous broth; it was chilled udon. About the rice balls: I asked if they could be wrapped since I wanted to eat them in the Room. They said “Sure!” but when they came back, they just handed me plastic wrap (laugh). Normally you would take the rice balls and wrap them for the guest, right? It was my first time ever being handed plastic wrap like that. Maybe they didn’t know because they were still in training.

    The hot water is good.

    The showerheads in the large public bath are about at their limit, so I’d like them replaced. The bath towel in the Room smelled. Seems I got an unlucky one. At breakfast, the broth for the dashi chazuke ran out, so I asked for a refill, and they told me there are no refills. Even though it says to feel free to ask. And it was still before 8:00. Interesting. For the night bar as well, I’d like you to offer beer instead of low-malt beer. The in-Room bath was more comfortable.

    The lake could be se...

    The lake could be seen from our Room, the dining area, and even the bath, and we were able to truly relax from the heart. The meals were gentle and beautifully presented without overpowering the natural flavors of the ingredients, the portions were just right, and everything was absolutely delicious. The proprietress’s thoughtful care and the kindness of everyone at the Accommodation could be felt in so many ways. It’s far away so we can’t visit often, but this time we even got to enjoy fireworks as a special treat, and staying at your Accommodation became a truly wonderful memory.

    I stayed here with my mother. To reduce the burden on my elderly mother as much as possible, I asked about the routes from our Room, and they kindly provided a detailed explanation in advance. They also contacted us to confirm our stay, so we felt at ease when we arrived that day. The Kaga-style dinner was very delicious, and the fireworks visible right in front of our Room were truly impressive—but above all, the Onsen was outstanding. The spacious public bath felt as if it extended into Shibayamagata Lake, and I ended up soaking for a long time. The morning bath while enjoying the sunrise was also wonderful. The water was excellent. We were able to relax without any worries and spend a peaceful time. Thank you very much.

    A Perfect Ending to Your Trip

    About a 20-minute drive from the airport, we chose Morimoto for the last night of our trip. We only expected to take a relaxing walk and enjoy a comfortable hot spring bath to ease our tired bodies, then head home easily the next day. The hot springs were truly wonderful, but Morimoto gave us far more than we expected. Every staff member we met—from President Morimoto to the trainees—made us feel genuinely welcome, yet never pressured or intruded upon. As non-Japanese guests, communication wasn’t always easy, so thank you for giving us such a beautiful experience and lasting memories. Both dinner and breakfast were also impressive. Each dish had its own distinct flavor while blending perfectly together—I loved it. Without even leaving the Ryokan, we could enjoy an unobstructed view of fireworks over the lake from our room balcony. The unique beauty of fireworks blooming in a starry night sky and reflecting on the lake is something I will remember for a very long time. I will come back again. Thank you, Morimoto.

    Unfortunately, the women’s bath was too hot.

    As before, it was disappointing that the Onsen was a comfortable temperature in the men’s bath but too hot in the women’s bath. The meals were delicious both at breakfast and dinner.

    It was a wonderful Accommodation.

    Check-in is at 3:00 PM, and we arrived 20 minutes early. After only a short wait, we were shown to our Room. It was a 4th-floor Comfort Room on the top floor. Three sets of futons were already laid out. The Room was comfortable, and we were able to relax spaciously. Dinner was delicious across the board. It was my first time trying Noto mozuku seaweed. I was also happy that the Morimoto special wild-vegetable takikomi rice that I couldn’t finish was packed up on the spot for a late-night snack. The Onsen in the women’s bath was very hot, which was disappointing. The men’s bath temperature was just right, and the tub was spacious; both the indoor bath and open-air bath had great views. The changing room also had a good selection of hair dryers—Dyson, ReFa, Panasonic, and more—which made my husband happy. In the lounge after dinner, there were canned chuhai and happoshu (low-malt beer), among other options. I think it’s a good Accommodation where you can relax quietly at your own pace. It would have been perfect if the women’s Onsen temperature had been better. Because the Onsen water was so hot, I rated it 4 stars for overall satisfaction.

    Is the off-season the best time to book?

    Although I had booked a basic Japanese-style Room Plan, perhaps because there were fewer guests in the period before Golden Week, I was able to stay in a Comfort Room on the 4th floor. Lake Shibayama spread across the entire window, with the Hakusan mountain range still white in the distance, and Ukimido right in front of me. Because it was an all-inclusive drinks Plan, I could freely choose from the menu for drinks at dinner as well as use the drink bar in the lobby. The baths are on the 1st floor. At night it was almost completely dark outside, so there was no view from either the large public bath or the open-air bath, but when I went again in the morning, I could clearly see beautiful views of Lake Shibayama. (However, since a promenade runs around Lake Shibayama, parts of the windows have privacy film applied to block views from the walkway.) In the morning, with breakfast around 8:00 and checkout at 10:00, it felt a bit rushed rather than relaxed, but overall I think I was able to spend a comfortable and restful time.

    We spent his birthday here.

    We stayed here on this trip, and it was truly a wonderful Accommodation—one that made us want to come back without a doubt. From after our Reservation, the staff were incredibly attentive. They kindly provided detailed guidance on arranging a cake and even checked the local weather for us as we were traveling from far away. Their warm hospitality meant so much to us. The meals were outstanding as well. Each dish was beautifully presented and a delight to enjoy with the eyes, and everything tasted amazing—we were completely satisfied until the very end. In the large public bath, there was a “shampoo buffet,” which we loved because we could choose our favorites to use. After bathing, there was also complimentary local sake and alcoholic ice cream, and we were truly impressed by such thoughtful touches. The hospitality, cuisine, and Onsen—everything exceeded our expectations, making it an unforgettable stay. We would love to stay again.

    We recommend the food and drinks, as well as our special rooms.

    I stayed alone in a Special Room for two nights. What surprised me was that the drink service area in the first-floor lobby offered free “sake,” “beer,” and “highballs.” The sake was a brand called “Toki Kigen,” and it was so delicious it felt dangerously easy to drink. They also changed the menu for both nights, and every meal was delightful to the eyes, palate, and heart—an incredible number of dishes. Personally, I especially enjoyed items like dobin-mushi, melt-in-your-mouth grilled meat, jibuni, and grilled spiny lobster gratin—thoughtful touches that felt like a lineup of my favorites. The Onsen was a private bath attached to the Special Room; by opening the window I could enjoy an amazing open-air bath atmosphere. After getting out, I kept sweating more and more—I could really tell it’s an Onsen with properties that boost metabolism (if you sleep after bathing, you may sweat during sleep). The service was also wonderful—friendly, warm, and truly appreciated.

    Delicious crab you can't finish!

    We enjoyed the Plan that included tagged crab. It was a feast of crab dishes, and we were absolutely delighted by the incredible flavors! Having tried many crab-focused Plans before, this was the first time we couldn't finish everything. The final crab hot pot rice left us completely full, but thanks to the thoughtful gesture of providing a container to take it back to our Room, we could enjoy it as a late-night snack (it was still incredibly delicious even when cold). We truly appreciate the attentive care from the Accommodation staff. We'll definitely come back next year!

    Family Trip

    The spacious Room was very comfortable. The welcome drink, especially the alcohol, was so delicious that I ended up drinking too much... It was all-inclusive, and I thoroughly enjoyed the wide variety of alcoholic beverages during dinner. I would love to visit again. Thank you very much!

    They mentioned having a comfortable and elegant stay.

    I made a reservation on behalf of my elderly mother and her friend who wished to stay. Although I couldn't accompany them on the day, and I was a bit worried about two elderly people staying alone, it seems they were well taken care of. They had a comfortable stay, enjoyed the view from the room, and appreciated both the meals and hot springs. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

    It was a satisfying trip.

    We stayed as a group of three friends and had a wonderful experience. The heartfelt hospitality from the staff made our trip truly satisfying. The meals were beautifully crafted and delicious, though the portions were a bit too large for older women, which was unfortunate as we couldn't finish everything. A course tailored for seniors would be appreciated. The large public bath overlooking the lagoon was very relaxing. While the women's open-air bath felt semi-open, it would have been perfect if it offered a more expansive view.

    A cozy and clean accommodation. The staff were kind, making our stay pleasant. Dinner was extremely delicious. Breakfast, compared to dinner, lacked a bit of a homemade feel. The room was well-maintained and clean, but the view was disappointing—a beautiful lake obstructed by an outdoor garden built on top of withered roofs. It was unfortunate, and we tried not to look at it too much... However, the fireworks at night were spectacular! Though short-lived, they were truly satisfying. Thank you to everyone; we had a relaxing stay thanks to your hospitality.

    Efforts of a Long-Established Business

    The review rating is 4.6, but honestly, I felt that around 4.0 would be more appropriate. If you stay with that expectation, you will likely be satisfied. Overall, efforts to balance cost-cutting and quality maintenance are evident, which gave me a slightly bittersweet feeling. Especially having the futon already laid out at check-in made the room feel smaller, which seemed like a missed opportunity. However, thanks to being in a corner room, the view was absolutely stunning. That said, the Wi-Fi connection was unstable and frequently disconnected, which was frustrating. The bath towels also reflected cost-cutting measures and lacked the luxurious feel of a high-end ryokan. Nevertheless, the facility did not feel outdated and was kept very clean. The efforts of everyone at the accommodation were clearly noticeable.

Enjoy our natural hot spring baths and meals, both "a feast for the eyes and palate," ensuring complete satisfaction. In the morning, take a peaceful walk through the quiet streets while visiting local spots. Explore charming places like Aizenji Temple with its heart-shaped gate or the Bengara-colored Geisha House. You'll surely feel that a Multiple Night Stay is a must for your next visit!

    It was excellent.

    This was my first stay, and it was wonderful. Although the exterior was covered with blue sheets due to earthquake damage, the interior was very clean and had a traditional accommodation feel. The staff were friendly and approachable. Dinner and breakfast included an all-you-can-drink option, allowing me to enjoy plenty of Ishikawa's local sake, and the meals were delicious and satisfying. Thank you for your hospitality! I would love to stay again if I have the chance.

We heard about the challenges during the earthquake and were amazed at their perseverance, feeling grateful to have been able to stay at this accommodation. The round table and cushions in the room are cute, but they felt a bit uncomfortable; a floor chair might be a better option.

    An Accommodation You'll Want to Recommend to Others

    The staff were experienced professionals, providing excellent and pleasant service with just the right level of attentiveness. The food was delicious, the room was clean, and I was very satisfied. I chose an all-inclusive plan, making it a perfect accommodation for those who enjoy drinks—I even thought about recommending it to friends traveling to Hokuriku! The men's open-air bath has not yet been repaired due to this year's earthquake, and there seem to be some minor damages to the building as well. While it's located at a distance from the epicenter, it still feels like they are in the process of recovery. It’s an accommodation that makes you want to support them. I'm sure many guests who visit feel the same warmth from this place.

    Wonderful Accommodation

    The building is old but clean. Although the route to the bathroom is inconvenient, the long operating hours of the bath made it manageable. Despite checking in earlier than scheduled, we were warmly accommodated without any complaints, and both the front desk staff and the male guide to our Room were very kind—truly living up to a three-star Hotel standard. As for meals, since we had toddlers aged 4 and 2, we arrived earlier than planned due to their schedule, which led to some unpleasant remarks from staff—this was disappointing. Additionally, as it was a course meal, our children lost focus midway; it would be great if there were an option between course meals and having all dishes served at once for families with young children. The Room itself was nice; however, one concern was that sliding paper doors (shoji) were used as partitions. We worried about our children possibly tearing them. While remodeling may not be feasible, perhaps removing these doors in favor of curtains for families with small children could provide peace of mind during their stay.

    Thank you for hosting us during our golf trip.

    I stayed the night before golfing. This was my third time visiting Kaga Onsen, but my first time at Katayamazu Onsen. The cheerful hospitality of the staff was excellent, making it hard to feel any impact from natural disasters.

    A Traditional Accommodation with Enjoyable Views

    Due to the remnants of the New Year's earthquake, access to the front entrance is restricted, so luggage will be unloaded at the nearby parking lot. Our staff will assist with carrying your belongings. Check-in is at the front desk. Beyond the lobby lies a spacious garden, and further beyond that is Shibayama Lagoon. The accommodation wings extend in a U-shape on both sides of the garden. From your room, you can enjoy views of both the garden and Shibayama Lagoon. The large bath and dining areas are designed to maximize these stunning views. The room we stayed in was located at one end of the U-shaped building, featuring a wide glass-enclosed veranda and an open-view private bath facing directly towards Shibayama Lagoon without any obstructions. The spacious tatami room, washroom, toilet, and stone-built private bath with natural flowing hot spring water all provided a relaxing atmosphere. Meals were served on tables in partitioned sections within a large hall on the second floor above the lobby area. On our stay, there happened to be a local festival where an impressive mikoshi (portable shrine) procession reached just outside our accommodation's entrance with lively cheers before continuing into town after a short break. After dinner, fireworks lit up over Shibayama Lagoon—an incredible display viewed up close through wide glass windows from our room or even while soaking in your private bath as suggested by one of our staff members: "You can watch from here while bathing—just don't stay too long!" It was truly an enjoyable summer night listening to the sound of flowing hot spring water in our cool room. Breakfast was served in the same dining area as dinner. Despite departing during heavy rainstorms, staff kindly carried our luggage while getting wet themselves—a testament to their warm hospitality and attentiveness throughout our stay!
