    The staff provided excellent service, from our arrival to meal service. The large public bath and the Room were very clean, and the food was delicious, making our stay very comfortable. It became a wonderful memory of our family trip. Thank you very much.

    It was the best anniversary ever!!

    For our 40th wedding anniversary, we searched for a place where we could relax in an Onsen and enjoy a delicious French dinner, and this Hotel came up. Hoping—just a little—that there might be a celebratory chocolate message plate with dessert, we visited Tamana Onsen for the first time. Dinner was beautifully presented and delicious, and we were more than satisfied—but after the course dessert and coffee, to our surprise, a cake plate arrived!! We truly weren’t expecting that much, so we were overwhelmed with emotion and almost brought to tears. And the cake itself—the whipped cream was exquisitely tasty. The quality was exactly what you’d expect from a Hotel cake! On top of that, the message lettering was beautifully done, the chocolate was delicious as well, and we were once again impressed by the pastry chef’s craftsmanship. The Onsen was spacious with free-flowing water, and it was lovely to see it decorated with traditional Japanese umbrellas and bamboo lanterns. It also felt wonderful to be greeted so warmly by all of the staff. The next day, we walked to Riganji Park’s footbath and enjoyed the cherry blossoms at Jagatani Park—making the most of our first visit to Tamana. We’ve both been busy working full-time for years and had never stayed at an Onsen Accommodation on our actual anniversary day before, so this became a truly special occasion—our most memorable since our wedding. We are deeply grateful to all of the Hotel staff for creating such a wonderful celebration. Thank you very much! Next time, we’ll be sure to visit again with friends and family.

    I was satisfied.

    It was the day my daughter moved out and we had already sent our futons, so we stayed overnight. Our expected arrival time was 6:00 PM. We arrived early, but they let us check in, and we enjoyed the large public bath and the outdoor bath. After having a welcome drink, I relaxed in the Room and before I knew it I fell asleep; when I woke up it was around 8:00 PM. I drank the provided water and fell asleep again, then woke up and went straight to the large public bath for a morning soak. At breakfast they had my favorite rice porridge, so I enjoyed a variety of side dishes and even had seconds—plus yogurt and cereal as well. I took coffee to go and enjoyed it in my Room. When I stepped into the hallway at 9:30, a housekeeping staff member cheerfully greeted me with “Good morning!” I checked out feeling very refreshed and left the Hotel. Please let me stay again.

    The meals were extremely satisfying.

    I booked dinner without expecting much, but I was amazed by the quality and the number of dishes—far beyond what I imagined! The baths were also wonderful. The open-air bath in particular impressed me with its beautifully crafted natural scenery. I’d love to stay here again when I’m in the area for work.

    Stayed during a family trip.

    We stayed at this accommodation after visiting Mitsui Greenland and before exploring Aso the next day. We usually stay in Western-style rooms, so the kids were thrilled with the spacious Japanese-style room, saying it felt like visiting their grandma's house in the countryside and found it very relaxing. The room was clean and well-maintained, with fluffy beds that provided a comfortable sleep, as discussed among the family. The kids were fascinated by the golden elevator, finding it unique and exciting. The private use of the bath was incredibly relaxing, and I personally felt that I would return just for the bath. The decorations at the entrance were also lovely. The men's and women's baths switched between night and morning, allowing us to enjoy both, which was a nice touch. Breakfast was just right, and the whole family, from elementary school kids to adults, was satisfied. However, one thing that stood out was the unapproachable attitude of a young staff member, who seemed to just stand there without much interaction. If they could be more attentive and smile more, this would be an even more wonderful accommodation.

    Sisters' Retreat

    It was our first time in Tamana, and we gathered from three prefectures. We were kindly picked up upon arrival, and before check-in, we had the chance to visit a nearby shrine. The Room was on the top floor, spacious enough for three people to relax comfortably. Dinner included a variety of dishes and was delicious; however, the breakfast buffet had many pre-prepared items that were cold, with only cut pineapple and orange as fruit options, which was slightly disappointing. (Compared to other Hotel buffets we've experienced where food is often served directly.)

    Family Trip

    We stayed as a family of four, including a couple and parents! The meals were delicious, the bath was relaxing and rejuvenating! The Room was clean and we were very satisfied.

    Impressive building and Facility, friendly staff.

    A sturdy building likely constructed during a prosperous era. The guest rooms have been beautifully renovated and were impeccably clean. Many of the staff were kind, and there was no sense of the current labor shortage trend, making for a worry-free stay. Dinner exceeded expectations for an accommodation that caters to group banquets (though perhaps due to rising costs, the rice didn’t seem to reflect this accommodation’s usual quality). While Onsen enthusiasts might find the water quality lacking, it was clean and well-sanitized. Although the bathroom in the guest room is not an Onsen, it was a high-quality stay considering the price. The surrounding area includes facilities like public baths from the same group and a bowling alley, offering enjoyable options even on rainy days. Thank you to all staff members for your kindness toward my companion as well!

    It was my first time...

    It was my first time staying, and it was a relaxing Hotel. I stayed the night before visiting Greenland. Since I arrived early, I left my luggage at the front desk and enjoyed bowling and table tennis next door. That evening, I used Tsukasa no Yu (rinse-in shampoo), and the next morning, I enjoyed the Hotel's large public bath (POLA shampoo and conditioner had a nice fragrance). The water temperature was lukewarm but comfortable for children as well. Although it was during the May holidays, it wasn't too crowded, so we had a great time.

    It was a great accommodation.

    The Facility is undeniably old, but the hospitality exceeded expectations. The meals were delicious and more than enough to eat. I had a comfortable stay. However, the Room lacked women's skincare products, and the public bath only had minimal amenities. It would be great if these could be improved.

    I had known the name before, but this was my first stay. We stayed in a Japanese-style room with beds for two people, and it was spacious with a great view. The meals were delicious, and we were very satisfied. The bath was well-maintained and clean, making it very pleasant to use. Using points made the stay feel even more worthwhile, and we had a comfortable experience. I would love to stay here again.

    Very wonderful

    The hospitality and service are excellent, and the Onsen features a spacious natural hot spring. There is nothing negative to mention, but if you are expecting a traditional Onsen town, it might not meet your expectations. Nearby, there are delicious ramen shops, izakayas, and an ice cream shop that operates only at night. It may have been coincidental, but there were no international tourists during my stay, allowing for a quiet and relaxing experience. While it may not resemble the typical image of an Onsen town, it is a great place to soak in the Onsen and unwind. Located close to Kumamoto, I highly recommend it!

    A quiet and serene stay at a Hotel unique to the Onsen area.

    I booked the accommodation to stay with my parents, who didn’t feel like going home after a memorial service. It was a hotel we often admired from across the Tsukasa no Yu, and it had been beautifully renovated, making every corner comfortable for a relaxing stay. The room was spacious, with separate air conditioning for the Japanese-style and Western-style areas. The indirect lighting and large TV made it perfect for spending time together as a family. The bathroom in the room was even larger than at home, with two sinks and no inconvenience at all. The public bath wasn’t too far away, so we could use it multiple times without any hassle. Last month, we stayed in a Luxury Deluxe room for similar reasons, but this time’s room was even more wonderful—absolutely flawless! My parents were delighted to have stayed here. The welcome drink corner is great! We stopped by casually just to take a look but ended up staying longer than expected. If I may suggest one thing: having access to the bath from 5 AM would be helpful when there are morning plans. Also, having cleansing products available in the bath area would be appreciated. That said, with an 11 AM checkout time allowing us to relax before and after breakfast, everything worked out perfectly. We’d love to stay again—thank you very much!

    A hotel with a nice Japanese modern atmosphere

    I took a bus from Tamana Station, but there aren't many bus services, and the schedule for the local buses isn't very reliable on Google. The hotel's official access guide also doesn't mention the nearest bus stop, so please be careful. I arrived early, but I received discount tickets for nearby bowling alleys and Onsen facilities at the front desk, allowing me to enjoy the cypress bath and jacuzzi early or buy souvenirs. Both the lobby and Room were luxurious in a modern Japanese style with a good atmosphere, and there were ella amenities in the Room I chose. I was also happy to receive a welcome drink. For dinner, I chose kaiseki cuisine; both ingredients and presentation were excellent with plenty of volume, leaving me very satisfied. Breakfast included various Kumamoto specialties that allowed me to enjoy my morning with fun times spent from breakfast onwards.

    Great Satisfaction Hotel

    The spacious and pleasant Room, as well as the Facility and amenities, were excellent. The staff was very courteous and kind! This time we stayed for only one night, but next time we would like to stay for about two nights! We had a Japanese course meal at night, which was very delicious! Thank you very much!

    The staff's response was good and comfortable. The Onsen and meals (I chose Western cuisine) were also satisfactory. The ceiling in the lobby right after entering the Hotel was high and gave a sense of openness. It became a very good memory. I will use it again next time.

    Cost performance: 5 stars

    It is a well-known long-established Hotel in the area. Nearby, as affiliated Facilities, there were a bowling alley and a day-trip Onsen Facility adjacent. We stayed with a family of five on December 29th at the end of the year, and with two meals included, it was about 75,000 yen, so we were satisfied. I think both the Onsen and the food were above average. The amount of food was small, but it was just right for our family. I would like to visit again if there is an opportunity.

    It was a family trip.

    Since my mother has bad legs, we chose a room with two beds. It was nice to be able to relax in a spacious area. The mattress was a bit thin, and my back hurt. We chose kaiseki for breakfast and dinner, and the portions were so large that we couldn't finish them, but they were delicious, and having a private room was also nice. It was great that the drink bar was free when we arrived at the hotel. We used it right away. However, it was disappointing that there were not many breakfast options. I might have had too high expectations because the reviews were very good.

    Thank you for taking care of us during our one-night stay!

    We stayed for one night from December 9th to 10th! This time, I gifted my parents and younger brother a stay at this hotel. It was my first time staying at this hotel, so I was really looking forward to it after reading reviews and checking the website. Upon arrival, the staff efficiently completed the identity verification, room guidance, and explanations, and we spent time with the family in a very spacious and comfortable room until dinner. Dinner was as luxurious and delicious as I had seen in reviews, and although we were a bit nervous about the course, we enjoyed it at a leisurely pace. I rated the meal 4 stars because we were only informed that we could have more bread after we had finished it and the next course was served. If we had been told earlier, we would have asked for more... I understood it was a course meal, but the portions were small, so it was a bit disappointing that we weren't informed earlier about the option for more. However, the hotel staff were all very hospitable, and the onsen switched between the women's and men's baths in the morning and evening, so we relaxed in the onsen both at night and in the morning! Both the umbrellas and bamboo were incredibly beautiful and soothing. The amenities were also satisfying, with cute drawstring bags provided for each person. If I have plans to visit Kumamoto again, I would consider staying at this hotel!

    Traveling as a Couple

    It was my first time visiting this property, but I decided to stay because the reviews on IKYU were excellent, and it turned out to be an amazing onsen hotel. The exterior was old, but the interior was very clean and spacious, and the service at the front desk and by the female staff was excellent, which made me think that employee training must be well-conducted. The onsen's hot spring source was perfect for us, and the room was clean with amenities well-prepared, leaving nothing to be desired! This time, we chose a plan without meals, but next time we stay, we will definitely opt for a one-night, two-meal plan. We are truly grateful to all the staff.

    The Room was very nice.

    We stayed in a junior suite with our family of three. It was very spacious, and the room was clean and comfortable. The Onsen was also a spacious open-air bath where we could relax. Although it was on the top floor, there was a smell of tobacco from the elevator hall, and when we opened the door, it smelled of tobacco. The smoking room should be on a lower floor, but still... Also, the replenishment of food at the buffet was slow, and there was nothing at the salad bar... I thought it was a time when it wasn't crowded on a weekday, but I would like the replenishment to be quicker. There are points for improvement, but if given the opportunity, I would like to use it again.

    It was a safe place to stay.

    We chose this property from among those with natural hot springs. Since it was a trip with my grandparents in their 80s, we selected a property that met the condition of having a room for four people, with beds for my daughter and me, and futons for my grandparents. When we arrived at the main entrance around 4 PM, no one came out to greet us, and we had to move to the front of the lobby ourselves before finally being welcomed. Since we stayed on Monday and Tuesday, there was one group of about 30 people, a family of about 10, and a few other guests. The status of the bath can be checked on the panel in front of the elevator, so we entered during a less crowded time. For meals, two of us chose the Chinese course and two chose the French, which was appreciated. Unfortunately, the fillet in the French course had some gristle, which was disappointing. I informed the waitress, but there was no response. Considering the price, both the bath and the room were very satisfying. I think it is a very good hotel for seeking comfort during a trip.

    Wonderful Hotel

    The Room, meals, and service were all excellent. Despite the current labor shortage and the wide range of responsibilities, the hospitality of both the experienced and young staff is outstanding. Tailored hospitality for each guest. It was a perfect stay. I will definitely return.

    The meals and the bath were excellent.

    There were beautiful flowers in the lobby, and the open ceiling created a spacious atmosphere where we could enjoy a view of the garden and spend a relaxing time. We were able to enjoy a comfortable two days in a different flow of time from the hectic everyday life. The meals were so plentiful that we couldn't finish them, but everything was delicious, and the local ingredients were well utilized. The best part was the bath, with a large bathtub and a semi-open-air bath; the umbrellas in the bath at night were fantastic and lovely. Perhaps because it was a weekday, we had the bath all to ourselves, but we were surprised at breakfast the next day to see how many people had stayed. It was a satisfying return journey, having found one more inn we would like to visit again.
