The building is old, but it didn’t feel unpleasant.

On the day of my stay, I decided on a whim, got the Accommodation’s approval, and arrived after 8:00 p.m. When I told a man at the front desk that I was heading to a nearby izakaya for dinner, he cheerfully said, “Then please take this,” and gave me drink coupons for the place, lent me an umbrella, and even showed me a shortcut—always with a smile. It really put me at ease. The private bath was available until 11:00 p.m., so even though I arrived late I could relax and enjoy it. I also appreciated having a beer vending machine in the building. The property is old, but clean in an unpretentious way. The Room, futon bedding, and amenities all felt safe and comfortable to use. The other guests also seemed very considerate. Breakfast was great too—the main dish (grilled pork? hot pot?) went perfectly with rice and egg over rice. These days it’s rare, but everyone on staff I met appeared to be Japanese—maybe just by chance? Everyone provided such wonderful service that more than made up for the age of the building, and it was very comfortable throughout my stay. To be honest (and no offense meant), I only made a Reservation because there happened to be availability and didn’t expect much—maybe that’s why it felt even better. Next time I’d like to visit with dinner included. Thank you very much.

    This was my first ti...

This was my first time visiting Ikaho Onsen. The property we stayed at, Seikanso, has a long history, and while the Hotel does show its age, that gives it character and is a good thing. The Room had been renovated and was nice; however, the carpeted area by the window where the sofa is felt old, with a lingering human odor (aging-related smell) that seemed to have built up over many years. The sofa is also fabric-upholstered and had a similar smell, so we ventilated the Room whenever we returned. I understand that investing in upgrades can be difficult, but this part was disappointing. That said, the staff’s hospitality was excellent, and I am very grateful.

Thank you for a wonderful time.

I stayed here with friends from my junior and senior high school days. From the moment we arrived, the staff kindly introduced recommended spots. We were also shown to a Room with a wonderful view, and we enjoyed the scenery from our Room. The meals were delicious and we were very satisfied. We also truly appreciated their quick and flexible help when my friend accidentally left a smartphone at the Accommodation while checking out.

It felt like the Showa era.

It felt like staying at a Ryokan where I once stayed with my family long ago. The building itself may not be described as "beautiful," but its retro Showa-era atmosphere was nostalgic and satisfying in its own way. The staff were incredibly kind and attentive, bringing smiles to our faces. The distant mountain range glowing in the evening light and the large praying mantis resting on the window screen made it feel as if time had turned back several decades.

A Ryokan that offers a cozy atmosphere, perfect to make it your regular accommodation.

Both breakfast and dinner were served in a private room. It was a family stay, and we were able to relax and enjoy our time peacefully. The meals were very delicious. Coffee in the lobby, adorned with beautiful wall art, was delightful as we enjoyed the atmosphere of a café with a master barista while listening to music from records. The shop didn't have a large selection, but the items were carefully chosen, including unique finds not available at other Ryokans.

    One night with meals included

Stayed for one night on a weekday in mid-June. Upon arrival, I received a detailed explanation and tour of the accommodation. The room, though for solo use, was spacious with a great view, allowing me to relax comfortably. The onsen offers two options: a large public bath and private baths. Personally, I recommend the private bath for its sense of openness. Since the private baths are reserved in 30-minute slots, those who wish to take their time may prefer the large public bath. I enjoyed both breakfast and dinner during my stay; every dish was delicious and made with carefully selected ingredients. The Joshu beef served at dinner was exceptional, and while there are tourist attractions nearby, I highly recommend dining at the ryokan itself. Overall, my one-night stay provided a truly peaceful and wonderful experience. I would love to visit again if given the opportunity!

    It was excellent.

The building was old, but it was kept clean and comfortable. The food was extremely delicious and very satisfying. I was truly surprised and delighted by the cute drawing on the plate of the birthday cake! All the staff were pleasant, and I appreciated being escorted down to the stairs. The hospitality from the Nepalese staff member was always with a smile, polite, and left a great impression. Although it was cloudy, we could occasionally see beautiful mountain views from our room, which were breathtaking. I also had an enjoyable conversation with the dashing gentleman with white hair who seemed to be the owner. The flowers were adorably arranged, and after breakfast, I enjoyed coffee in the lobby—a relaxing atmosphere that made for wonderful memories at this accommodation. Both people, Onsen, food, and room were excellent; we had a delightful stay. Thank you very much!

    A Relaxing and Rejuvenating Accommodation

The building and facilities are undeniably old, but everything was clean, and I had a comfortable stay. The view from the room was spectacular. The open-air baths are separated by gender in the morning, but on the day of check-in, you can enjoy any of the three baths privately as long as they are not occupied by others. The natural hot spring water allowed for a relaxing soak. Meals featured many locally sourced ingredients and were delicious; I was very satisfied (though it was too much for me at 70 years old). Above all, the staff provided exceptionally polite and heartfelt service that made me want to return to this accommodation again.

    Service, staff, everything is excellent!!!

Arrived around noon on the check-in day and asked if we could park our car. The hotel staff kindly offered to drive us to the stone steps area with their car! The next day, after checking out, they also drove us to the stone steps area again! They even recommended spots around the stone steps and explained how to return to the ryokan. The meals for both breakfast and dinner were luxurious and delicious. Although it was a bit chilly inside, they checked in with us by asking if we were cold, which was very thoughtful! As we were leaving, they kindly offered to take a photo of us in front of the ryokan—such considerate service was truly appreciated. There are three private baths available, and we got to enjoy all of them! The doors lock from inside for secure use. They are spacious enough that it feels extravagant for just two people—perfect for relaxing! Shampoo is also available at the front desk upon request. You can enjoy table tennis, hula hoops, or even play retro games like Famicom on the basement floor—all free of charge!! The staff's attentiveness was outstanding; their hospitality made our stay incredibly pleasant. While the exterior may look slightly old-fashioned, this place is truly wonderful overall. Highly recommended ryokan for everyone!

    The staff was very warm.

I had always wanted to visit Ikaho, and for my first trip there, I chose this Property. Upon arrival, the staff warmly welcomed us, and from that moment, I felt, "I'm glad I chose this Property!" The detailed guidance on the Facility and the wonderful service during meals made it a perfect trip. Both the food and the Onsen were excellent, and my companion was also very pleased. I am grateful to everyone at Ichikawa Bekkan Seikanso for making it a wonderful stay. If I have the chance to visit Ikaho again, I would choose this Property.

    Room reviews

The air conditioner in the Room is old and does not warm up, the heating throughout the facility is insufficient, and the bathwater is too lukewarm to warm up. There was a welcome from the staff, but after checking out, there was no send-off.

    Stays that warm your heart.

It feels like a historic building, but it is a property where you can feel the desire to entertain guests. The children enjoyed playing with the Famicom and table tennis. The private bath is new and recommended. The food is also delicious. I would like to stay again when I visit Ikaho Onsen.
