    Solo travel

I visited on a solo trip to Kyushu. I stayed for two nights, and both dinners were delicious. I could see Sakurajima from my Room, and the Onsen was very relaxing—overall, it was a very satisfying trip. The Shuttle Service from the station was also provided multiple times. However, perhaps due to the extreme heat of the season, the air conditioning in the hallway felt weak, and I ended up a bit sweaty on the way back to my Room after bathing.

    A lovely, relaxing accommodation

It was calm and relaxing after the holiday rush. They provided Shuttle Service to the station and to the sand bath, and the meals were very filling—both dinner and breakfast were excellent. I was also able to unwind in the Onsen while looking out at the sea. Tea service was available as well.

The Room and the open-air bath were great.

The large windows offered a great view of Sakurajima, which was especially impressive. The Room layout was comfortable and made it easy to relax. I happened to have the open-air bath all to myself, so it felt like a private soak and was excellent. The building feels a bit old, but perhaps it has been renovated—the Room and the open-air bath were both comfortable. All of the staff were very hospitable and left a positive impression. The meal was decent, with delicious sashimi, though the dining area felt slightly unsettled. Miyanohama Station nearby, where you get off, is an unmanned seaside station with an open coastline view—it was truly moving.

We arrived in the rain. While we were unsure where the entrance was, we pulled up at a convenient spot from the parking lot to unload our luggage, and a staff member came out from the entrance to assist us. After that, we went to our Room. We stayed in a Room with a raised tatami area. The meal was very delicious. Our server said they have been in Japan for eight years, and they had a wonderful smile. However, I felt it may have been difficult for them to notice what guests needed first rather than prioritizing their own tasks. We waited quite a long time for our drinks to be brought over. It also made me wonder if they were handling only one table per time slot. That part was a little disappointing.

We received a call in advance informing us that some of the bath facilities were not working. We arrived a little disappointed, thinking we might not be able to fully enjoy the Onsen, but we were given tickets for a sand bath at a nearby Onsen facility. The front desk and restaurant staff were very courteous, and we truly enjoyed the delicious meals. The Room was also very clean and comfortable. If we have the chance to visit again, we would love to enjoy the open-air bath that was unavailable this time. Thank you very much.

    The Onsen is great.

I stayed for one night as part of a birthday trip. The Onsen was great—I enjoyed the large public bath, and I was lucky enough to use the private open-air bath during the free morning hours at just the right time. The Chiran tea service on the first floor and in the large bath changing room was also nice. (Though I was honestly put off seeing what seemed to be overseas guests, probably Chinese, filling their own bottles.) I knew from the time of Reservation, but it was still disappointing that you can see solar panels outside the window—perhaps a sign of the times. I chose a plan with breakfast and dinner, but it was disappointing that explanations of the dishes varied depending on which staff member served us. At breakfast, there were no staff near the entrance, so we weren’t noticed unless we spoke up first. I didn’t use it, but the playroom with a table tennis table had a strong moldy smell. Does anyone even use it? The front desk staff at check-in were very thorough with their explanations, which helped a lot—but after that I kept noticing disappointing points, and to be honest I don’t think I would stay again.

Shuttle service to the sand-steamed Onsen and early morning transfer for the Nanohana Marathon were very helpful.

The scenic beauty, openness, and pleasant atmosphere from Miyagahama to the accommodation were wonderful. We were kindly dropped off at the sand-steamed Onsen at 16:15 and picked up at 17:30, which was perfectly timed. Breakfast the next day was at 6:00, with departure for the marathon venue at 7:00 (there was also an option for breakfast at 6:30 and departure at 7:30). It was very helpful. The meals were delicious.

This is an accommodation I want to visit with my loved ones again.

We received the best hospitality. From the moment we called to arrange a cake for my niece's birthday, the staff was extremely courteous and attentive, which gave us a sense of reassurance. While many accommodations nowadays have numerous foreign staff members, this accommodation provided impeccable hospitality that resonates with Japanese sensibilities, allowing us to spend a warm and wonderful time. The open-air bath is compact, so it might feel a bit cramped if shared with others. However, we visited early and were able to enjoy it privately as it was unoccupied at that time. The meals featured local ingredients from Kagoshima and were delightful. For dinner, there was a separate menu for children; however, breakfast had the same menu for both adults and children. The drink options during breakfast included water, coffee, green tea, vegetable juice, and yellow vegetable juice—slightly limited for children—but both dinner and breakfast offered ample portions with diverse options suitable even for seniors or small-eating children to find something they like and feel satisfied. Above all else, what remains in our hearts after returning home is the warmth of every single staff member we encountered. There’s nothing more I wish to convey in this review than my gratitude for such exceptional service at an accommodation I would confidently recommend bringing loved ones to visit. Thank you truly for your warm hospitality!

    The breakfast was delicious.

Check-in was late, so I couldn't enjoy the Onsen at night, but I took a bath in the morning. The breakfast afterward was delicious. I would love to visit again for a more relaxing stay.

    Kurobuta Shabu-Shabu is exceptional!

The first night of my trip to Kagoshima was perfect at Kinko-ro. During the 4-day trip, I enjoyed black pork dishes all over Kagoshima, but the black pork shabu-shabu at Kinko-ro was the best. Not only was the quality of the pork excellent, but also the ultra-thin shredded cabbage and broth were outstanding. The entrance from the guest parking lot also had a great atmosphere. This is an accommodation I would love to stay at again.

    Take your time.

We reserved 2 rooms for 9 people from 3 families. The hotel kindly arranged the rooms next to each other, which was very helpful. The rooms were Japanese-style and clean. The windows were large with a great view, and the men relaxed lying on the tatami after a long time. The large public bath was spacious with an amazing view. However, it was disappointing that the shower pressure was low and the water temperature was lukewarm. The meal of black pork shabu-shabu was delicious. The price was reasonable considering the number of people, and we appreciate all your thoughtful arrangements.

    The food is delicious.

Both dinner and breakfast were delicious! I was especially impressed by the high level of service provided by the staff. Amazing! Thanks to them, I had a wonderful trip to Ibusuki Onsen. Thank you so much! (Unfortunately, the shuttle service to Saraku was fully booked, so we couldn't use it. We rushed there by car, but it was raining... Although we were told it was nearby, it took 15 minutes by car. While we did get to experience the sand bath onsen, it left us feeling a bit dissatisfied.)

    Highly satisfied

We stayed here during a road trip with friends. Although it took us some time to arrive from Kanoya Air Base and we arrived late, the staff welcomed us warmly. In particular, the dining hall staff member (Mr. Y) showed great pride in his local area and shared detailed knowledge about the ingredients, which was very educational. The dishes were all delicious, with rich flavors from the broth in every bite. Thank you for such a wonderful experience. We would love to visit again!

An accommodation with excellent onsen and hospitality

I stayed here for a girls' trip with friends. Despite requesting irregular arrangements for the shuttle service to the sand-steamed onsen, the staff responded politely and flexibly, leaving a great impression even before our visit. The onsen was fantastic, with not only an open-air bath but also a spacious indoor bath offering breathtaking views of Kinko Bay. The hot, cloudy water warmed us to the core and was just my preferred type of spring quality. From the changing room, you can enjoy the same view, and sipping complimentary Chiran tea after bathing allowed us to relax fully. Dinner was perfectly portioned—not too much or too little—and every dish was delicious; especially the black pork shabu-shabu in bonito broth was outstanding. All staff members were incredibly friendly and provided pleasant service at every turn. The only downside was that there was no air conditioning in the hallways and elevator within the facility, making it uncomfortably hot at times; hence I deducted one star from my rating. However, overall it exceeded expectations as a highly satisfying accommodation where I would love to stay again if visiting Ibusuki in the future!

    The meals are delicious.

We stayed as a family. The young front desk staff who assisted us during check-in was very kind and left a great impression. The private open-air bath had excellent water quality, but the temperature felt high for the hot summer season. It would be better if the temperature allowed for longer soaks when using it privately. As for dinner, every dish, including fresh sashimi, flavorful shabu-shabu, and chicken rice, was delicious and made my family happy. The dining staff were attentive and showed a wonderful mindset of wanting to entertain guests. However, we were shocked when other guests got drunk, removed their yukatas, and caused a commotion playing table tennis. Since the rooms are not highly soundproofed, it disrupted our peace (perhaps setting a restriction on table tennis until 8 PM could help). The natural surroundings were fascinating; we even saw crabs in the hallway! However, I would appreciate it if insect remnants could be cleaned up during patrols... This accommodation has great potential for improvement. Wishing you all the best!

If you think of it as a business hotel

Onsen The onsen was great with a nice view and comfortable water, though slightly lukewarm. Shuttle service is available to the municipal sand bath, and free bathing tickets are provided. Room The room was spacious with a good view, but the door didn’t close properly, and the strong closer might cause injuries. The air conditioning wasn’t very effective. There was only one key, making it inconvenient for two people to go to the bath together. The TV was small and couldn’t be watched while lying down. Additionally, there were no belts for waist sizes around 100 cm; when I called the front desk about this issue, their initial response was "We don’t have any." After some negotiation, they brought something similar to a belt but initially gave us one of the same size as before. This could be an issue for larger guests—are we really their first plus-sized customers? Service The shuttle service lacked consideration for departing guests; it passed by those walking to the station without offering assistance. While the station is nearby so it’s not a big problem, it still felt surprising. There was no room guidance upon check-in either—it felt more like staying at a business hotel than a ryokan in terms of service expectations. Dining The staff serving meals were attentive and polite; however, the coffee server in the dining area worked very slowly and became frustrating to use. The food itself was average—neither particularly good nor bad. Room Service There were no massage services available or alcohol sold outside of the shop area. Morning hot coffee wasn’t available until 8 AM and there weren’t any options in-room either—a downside for coffee lovers! Vending machines only offered cold drinks. Overall You get what you pay for!

    Moderately ~

It was my first stay. Perhaps the room was available? Thank you for your thoughtfulness in upgrading the grade. The size was just right, and we were saying that if it had been what we originally requested, it might have felt cramped. The food was well-balanced and delicious. Even though it wasn’t an open-air bath, with that bath and the sea view, it was perfect. I would love to visit again!

    Highly Satisfying Accommodation

I was initially concerned about the facility being outdated after reading some reviews, but everything exceeded my expectations! I was delighted to be informed upon arrival that my room had been upgraded. The renovated room was very clean, and the sink area was extremely convenient to use. Both dinner and breakfast were of very high quality, and the service struck a perfect balance between attentiveness and privacy. The onsen within the facility offered great views, wasn’t crowded, and it’s only about a 15-minute drive from Sunayu. This is definitely one of the accommodations I’d love to visit again.

A clean hotel with a nice view from the room.

The staff were all very accommodating. The meals were delicious and filling. The Onsen was clean and pleasant. However, the open-air bath was a bit far and inconvenient to use. The room was clean, but having only one light switch was inconvenient. The raised tatami area was stylish, but it was unfortunate that there was no backrest when sitting, and it was difficult to relax anywhere other than the bed. I thought it would be better if there was a bit more flexibility in the lounge coffee service hours and other usage times.

    The food is delicious!

Both dinner and breakfast are elaborate and quite delicious! Perhaps it's the chef's good sense, but the dishes are beautifully presented, making the food taste even better. Each dish was explained in detail, allowing us to enjoy our meal with a sense of wonder. There is also a shuttle service to the sand bath, and you can enjoy alcohol after arriving at the hotel. The guest rooms have been tastefully renovated, allowing us to spend a pleasant time. Above all, it was wonderful that all the staff seemed to prioritize the guests, which was greatly appreciated. Ibusuki Onsen is quite far from our home, but it's a hotel we would like to stay at again. Thank you very much!
