Very satisfied with the bath!
As you drive up the winding mountain road with hairpin turns, you’ll eventually spot the Hotel at the top. With expectations rising for a great view… Once inside, the large lobby windows more than delivered, offering a breathtaking panoramic view over Mikawa Bay. In the Japanese-style Room, two beds had been set up—an appreciated touch for us as an older couple. Of course, the view from the Room was spectacular as well. The large public bath had both an indoor bath and an open-air bath at just the right temperature, and it felt wonderful. I wanted to stay in forever, so I cooled off now and then by splashing lukewarm water or cold water on myself to avoid overheating before soaking again. (Laughs) Dinner featured Aichi beef sukiyaki and abalone steak. Both were so delicious I wished I could have eaten more—but after finishing everything served, I realized it was actually the perfect amount. These days buffets are common and I often end up overeating, so having table service in a restaurant like this felt calm and healthy. Okazaki Castle is also about an hour’s drive from the Hotel, and I was happy to be able to reflect on Tokugawa Ieyasu’s legacy there. Within the castle grounds, Mikawa Bushi no Yakata: Ieyasu Museum is thoughtfully designed with well-planned exhibits—I’d love to visit again at a slower pace.

Full of retro Showa-era charm
The Room had a strong retro Showa-era atmosphere. The meals didn’t seem freshly prepared; they felt more like they had been made in advance and served as-is from the start. The taste was also... However, the view from the Room was nice.

Last-Minute Deal: Room Type Assigned at Check-in
The building is old, but it was clean and we had no inconveniences. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent, so we would like to stay again.

View of the world below
This was my first stay. The Hotel felt a bit old, but it is located at the top of the mountain and the view was amazing. There was Shuttle Service from the Hotel for the nighttime hydrangea tour, and there is also pick-up from the station to the Hotel, which is very helpful for guests without a car. The meals were delicious, and there was an open-air bath as well, so it felt like a great value. Thank you very much.

The views are excellent, but the food is not recommended.
Although the building is old, it has been renovated and doesn’t feel unpleasant. The view and atmosphere from the Room and bath are wonderful. The view from the Room in particular is outstanding. What stood out as especially disappointing was that the simmered rockfish served at dinner was cold. Most dishes were set on the table at once, with matcha soba served later; if you are serving the matcha soba afterward, I strongly feel the simmered fish should be brought out hot. The rockfish itself tasted good, which made it even more disappointing. The quality of breakfast was very low—similar to a Business Hotel—and there was almost nothing that felt unique to Mikawa. I think breakfast in particular should be reconsidered.

Spectacular Views
When I woke up in the morning, I was able to see the sunrise over Mikawa Bay. This experience was truly priceless. Thank you very much.

The scenery was beautiful and very relaxing.
I stayed in January during a holiday. The weather was perfect for traveling, and the clear winter air made the scenery spectacular. The open atmosphere of the lobby was also impressive. It truly felt different from city hotels, offering a unique experience. The natural surroundings, fresh air, and views from the mountaintop alone created a wonderful travel mood. The room was a Japanese-style bed type. The view from the room, including both the nightscape and sunrise, became unforgettable memories. The combination of traditional Japanese design with beds provided great comfort. Dinner featured an abalone-focused course with sashimi, grilled on ceramic plates, and sake-steamed dishes—all incredibly delicious! For this price and quality, I would definitely return. The outdoor Onsen was fantastic as well; it alternated between night and morning use for added enjoyment. I also appreciated the free massage chairs for relaxation. Overall, it turned out to be a very relaxing trip. This hotel is perfect for unwinding while enjoying beautiful scenery and Onsen experiences. Thank you so much—I look forward to staying again!

The night view is beautiful.
The night view was very beautiful. Dinner featured three types of abalone, allowing us to enjoy a variety of flavors. However, there was no Wi-Fi in the Room, and the heating was not very effective, making it quite cold.

Photos may not accurately represent the property.
Visited with four people as my grandmother came from another prefecture. An old Ryokan, seemingly over 50 years old. Despite most guests being elderly, there were no ramps on the stairs, which seemed dangerous. Unfortunately, I witnessed an elderly man falling headfirst down the stairs, leaving me feeling anxious and upset from the very first day of our trip. We chose the all-you-can-eat crab option for dinner, but it was soggy and lacked meat—so disappointing it almost brought me to tears. This Onsen Ryokan is not worth its price; I will never visit again. I feel deeply sorry for my grandmother as well.

Accompanying Your Wife
Accompanied my wife to her kimono gathering in Takeshima. Afterward, we stayed at a place where I had visited nearly 20 years ago with relatives. I remembered its location on a hill with a great view, so we decided to stay there again. My wife was particularly excited about the abalone tasting and kept looking forward to it. The meals, including the abalone dishes, were quite enjoyable. The breakfast buffet was also delicious. There was no WiFi available in the Room. Personally, I didn’t mind as it gave me a break from using my smartphone, but it might be inconvenient for those needing to work. When we arrived, it was rainy and foggy with poor visibility; however, around 9 PM, I happened to look out the window and enjoyed the beautiful night view of Gamagori city lights. It made our trip together after such a long time even more special and memorable!

Feels modern and updated
The building itself seems quite old, but it gives a well-maintained impression. The Room was thoroughly cleaned, and the plumbing was in good condition. The private bath in the guest room, though fully tiled and showing its age, was kept very clean. As for meals, both the kaiseki dinner and breakfast buffet were average. The cost-performance ratio is excellent!

The view is spectacular.
We stayed in two rooms with my parents and us as a couple. The views from the hotel lobby, room, and open-air Onsen were amazing. I don't think you can find such scenery elsewhere in this area. Breakfast was provided, but the quality was similar to that of a Business Hotel, with limited variety overall. As we expected this, we had dinner outside. The noise from the air conditioner in the room was quite loud with sounds like "go" and "gakon gakon." When we asked at the front desk in the morning, they mentioned it was an issue affecting all of the 3rd floor. The noise level was so high that while watching a movie on TV at night, we had to turn up the volume significantly to hear it properly. Despite this, my parents slept without any issues. I also fell asleep after finishing my movie despite thinking how noisy it was initially; however, my wife couldn't sleep until 3 AM due to the noise. She called reception during the night and they said someone would come by but no one came. The accommodation is generally old but well-cleaned throughout our stay. The Onsen is spacious with baths at a relaxing temperature (around 39–41°C?), which we enjoyed very much. However, when returning from an open-air bath overlooking the sea back to an indoor bath area together (my father/wife/myself), all three slipped slightly—so caution is advised!

Stayed the night before for clam digging.
We stayed here the night before going clamming at Higashi Hazu. It takes about 15 minutes by car to get there. Regarding clamming: If you arrive early, you can park closer to the site, which is convenient. The fee is 1,200 yen per person, making it relatively affordable compared to other clamming spots in the area. While there are very few clams (asari), you can collect plenty of larger shellfish varieties. Bringing a sickle instead of a rake is recommended for this purpose. The bath uses a circulation system and does not offer remarkable views; however, the view of Mikawa Bay from our room was absolutely stunning. For us coming from an inland prefecture, this alone made staying at this accommodation worthwhile.

Hard dissatisfaction
Stayed on 3/29. The room is relatively spacious but follows the Kyoto-style measurement, which differs from the 18 tatami mats of Edo-style. The bathroom attached to the room was not functional due to drainage issues (water kept pooling in the washing area). There was a lot of dust accumulated on the air conditioning vents. Meals were standard, and the breakfast buffet resembled a typical chain buffet with defrosted items served as-is. I will not be returning, but thank you for your hospitality.

All-you-can-eat crab
The scenery was great, there was an Onsen, I could eat my favorite crab, and the staff were kind and nice. I thought I would come again.

It exceeded expectations.
Reasonable price Visited during the holiday for a spontaneous Onsen trip Saw the photos and the scenery looked great, the sunrise from Mikawa Bay was something I wanted to see before I die. Since it was a holiday, we left the room selection to the hotel. When we checked in, we got the bed we wanted. Sunset and night view The beautifully cleaned interior overlooking Mikawa Bay The bath was pleasant, and we enjoyed the anticipated sunrise from the room's balcony It was the best trip. The staff were all kind If I had to say, even if the price goes up, I thought the dinner would have been better if upgraded? The abalone we ordered separately was delicious. It was a wonderful Hotel that I would like to visit again with my grandchildren. Thank you very much.
