The hot spring was amazing.
My husband has a frozen shoulder and wanted to stay at a hot spring resort, so I searched for a good place in Akiu Onsen and decided to visit. The hot spring water was truly excellent. However, even though it was autumn, there were still many hot days, and the room air conditioning seemed to support heating only. The room never cooled down and I couldn’t stop sweating. Since we are still using air conditioning at home, it felt too warm, so we slept with the window open. Also, perhaps for eco reasons, the room only had towels for bathing. After using the toilet or washing my face, I used towels I had brought with me. This may have been mentioned somewhere as part of their policy, but I was surprised because none of the hotels I’ve stayed at before lacked towels for the toilet or face washing. The humidifier turned off when we switched off the room lights, and even after turning the lights back on it wouldn’t start unless we set it again. I felt that a bit more explanation about how things work in the room would have been helpful. Overall, the hotel felt a little old-fashioned, but the food was very delicious. If I have another chance once it gets cooler, I’d like to visit again.

I checked in at 6:30...
I checked in at 6:30 PM and was told that the restaurant would contact my Room once a table became available, so I waited. In the end, it was 9:00 PM. I never expected to be called at 9:00 PM for a restaurant with last order at 8:00 PM. Because I wasn’t given any estimated time, I couldn’t even go to the Onsen and could only keep waiting. During that time, I contacted them twice, but was simply told there was nothing to do but wait. To make matters worse, IKYU stated that yukata were not allowed in the restaurant, yet almost everyone was wearing yukata. If dinner time had been set and yukata were allowed, I could have gone to the Onsen while waiting—I felt like crying. I made my Reservation trusting IKYU as a site, but this experience has made it hard to trust it. Even if this is a busier season than usual, you are charging higher rates accordingly, so I think you should take better measures.

The meals and the hot spring water are excellent.
The private hot spring water was incredibly soothing, and I could really feel it ease my tired body—I went in many times. As reputed, both dinner and breakfast were delicious. The service was pleasant and attentive, and thanks to their kind consideration I had a very comfortable stay. I would definitely like to stay here again when visiting Sendai. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

The food was very delicious, and we were very satisfied. All of the staff were polite and very pleasant, which made our stay even more enjoyable. We will definitely visit again.

Please give me a break.
My wife, who rarely complains, unusually said she “didn’t want to stay here.” That was her impression after checking in. I wondered why, but the Room was… and the bathroom was… old—like a super cheap Business Hotel. Being old isn’t necessarily bad if it’s properly maintained. But this wasn’t at that level... I just want to say that it felt unbelievable for this property to be listed on IKYU.

The French dinner re...
The French dinner reflected the chef’s passion and was as refined as what you’d enjoy at a top Hotel in central Tokyo; it was truly delicious. The beef tongue stew at the morning buffet was so good that, even though I’m not a big eater, I went back for seconds. From the breakfast restaurant window, I could watch the river flowing below, which was very soothing. When I got off the Shuttle Service bus, check-in had already been prepared for me, so I didn’t have to wait and was happy to be able to enter my Room right away. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Onsen Hotel.
I was satisfied with almost everything. The Shuttle Service was easy to find and comfortable, check-in was smooth, dinner was delicious and the drinks were tasty and reasonably priced, the bath let me enjoy piping-hot natural hot spring water, and the view from the Room was like a painting—wonderful. Breakfast was simple but delicious, and I was very satisfied. Overall, I had a great stay. The only downside was that at check-out, the staff member’s breath smelled strongly of cigarettes, which was very unpleasant.

Solo Travel
It was my first trip in 40 years. The bath facilities felt a bit different. As a 73-year-old, I couldn't finish all the food, but the taste was perfectly to my liking and delicious!

French × Onsen
Choosing French cuisine was the right decision as buffets are common during trips! The front desk and restaurant staff provided courteous service, including accommodations for elderly guests. Thank you!

Untitled
This was my first stay. I chose a Plan with breakfast and dinner included, but the dinner portions were small. Even for an adult male who drinks alcohol, it felt insufficient. I tried both Japanese and Western meals on two occasions, but both were the same. It was unfortunate despite my visit.

Delicious dinner
The building and facility show some signs of aging as it has been nearly 40 years since opening, but the service was excellent, and the French dinner was absolutely exquisite. The onsen with its own natural hot spring source keeps you warm and leaves your skin smooth, which delighted my wife. Although it's slightly away from the center of Akiu Onsen, it is a great accommodation.

An old, run-down hotel
The building’s age really shows. The bathroom sink is in an old-style layout right next to the bed, and the room acoustics are unpleasant, with sound echoing inside. In addition, parts of the walls and ceiling are peeling and stained. The bath is small for a hotel of this size, with few washing stations and no partitions between guests, so water splashes over from next to you. There are other issues as well, but considering the room rate, it may be unavoidable—overall, it feels appropriate for the price.
