    It was a Ryokan that made me want to visit again!

    We made a last-minute Reservation to celebrate a birthday. Due to worsening weather in Tokyo, we had to change our celebration Plan at the last minute, and while searching in Hakone, we found this Accommodation. Unlike other Accommodations, many of the staff here were young yet highly professional, and their service was truly pleasant. We couldn’t finish the celebratory fruit platter at dinner, and we really appreciated that you arranged for us to enjoy it in our Room. Thank you very much. The Room was clean and quiet, and we would love to visit again!

    I stayed here again.

    We stayed in a Room with an open-air bath. The layout was designed to prevent moisture from the bath from entering the Room, so it was very comfortable. The Room was also clean. The changing area at the large public bath was clean as well. Breakfast is a buffet and can get crowded, but we would like to stay again.

    A Fun Summer Vacation at Nanpuso

    Our whole family stayed at Nanpuso together. The meals were delicious, and everyone was very satisfied. The bath was spacious and relaxing, and it felt wonderful. Thank you for giving our whole family the chance to stay at Nanpuso, enjoy the pool, and make so many great memories. We’ll visit again in winter.

    The in-room open-air bath was excellent.

    I stayed with my elderly mother and my sister (three of us). We wanted to relax in the Room, so we chose a Room with in-room dining and a private open-air bath, and we were very satisfied. The food was delicious and filling. Since meals were served in the Room, it was great that my elderly mother didn’t have to move to a dining area. There was also an indoor bath in the Room, but perhaps because the building is old, there was a slight sewer smell from the plumbing. If you only use the outdoor open-air bath, it shouldn’t be an issue. It’s also close to Hakone-Yumoto Station, so I think it’s an excellent choice for trips with elderly guests.

    I was able to relax and enjoy a leisurely stay.

    Although the building is very large and has many Rooms, I was worried it might feel crowded and noisy, but it didn’t at all. I was able to spend a relaxing time inside the Hotel. The open-air bath doesn’t offer much of a view, but it was a wonderful space to soak and unwind without thinking about anything. The indoor bath was also very spacious, so I could relax at my own pace. In the changing area, each vanity station was separated individually and there were plenty of them. ReFa hair dryers were provided as well, which I don’t usually use, so I tried one. Next to the lobby there were welcome drinks and snacks, plus ice cream for after the bath. I enjoyed a drink and ice cream after bathing. Lids for the drinks were also available so you could take them back to your Room, which allowed me to relax in my Room while sipping my drink. Dinner included unlimited drinks (including alcohol), with a wide variety of alcoholic options—great value for those who enjoy drinking. I don’t drink much myself, but I still enjoyed a few alcoholic beverages. For dinner I ordered the “Odawara Gozen.” I expected an Ashigara beef steamed hot pot along with rice and soup plus some appetizers, but the rice came as a seafood bowl instead. It had many kinds of fish with generous portions, paired perfectly with sushi rice—it was delicious. I truly enjoyed such an abundant meal. Breakfast was buffet-style with an excellent selection as well—I ended up eating quite a lot in the morning. Everything was very tasty. I stayed in a twin Room, which felt wonderfully spacious. I also appreciated that the TV in the Room supported internet streaming. I wasn’t sure about watching my usual streaming service while traveling, but there was something I really wanted to see—so I spent time watching it during my stay. It was just 1 night/2 days, but I thoroughly enjoyed my Hotel stay. If given another chance, I would definitely like to stay again.

    We were extremely satisfied!!

    Our Room attendant was extremely attentive and had a great sense of humor! The meals were delicious, and both the Room and the open-air bath were wonderful!! It was my girlfriend’s birthday, and thank you very much for arranging the surprise cake and for all your thoughtful support!! She also said it was amazing and that she wants to come again! It turned into a truly fantastic trip—thank you so much!

    It’s been 50 years.

    Because I was comparing it with my regular Accommodation in Hakone, my rating may be a bit harsh, but there was nothing bad about the stay. What I liked was the attentiveness of the front desk staff—it was genuinely pleasant to see. As for the Plan: “all-you-can-drink (made-to-order)” turned out to be a drink bar; “a wide variety of drinks (including black draft beer)” meant there was beer available; and “a Japanese set meal (kaiseki)” felt more like a Japanese-Western mix, with no fruit. This may have been my misunderstanding, but I was quite disappointed. The Room was on the 5th floor of the main building, so it was convenient to get anywhere and very easy to use. However, since we were two women with a lot of personal items, it was a downside for me that there wasn’t any shelf space in the washroom to place our belongings. Yukata were nice, but these days I would have liked samue as well. In terms of Facilities overall, it felt better suited for family trips and international guests.

    We had a relaxing stay.

    We visited looking forward to the in-room open-air bath. The water was quite hot at first and we couldn’t get in, but the staff member in charge of our room kindly adjusted it for us, so we were able to relax and enjoy a soak both at night and in the morning. In the morning, just as we were told, we could hear birds singing, and bathing while listening to them was wonderful! I was also happy that the woman at the front desk was the same person I had spoken with on the phone beforehand—she remembered that and welcomed us warmly. We had dinner in our room and were able to spend a relaxing time as a family. We also enjoyed the welcome drink and complimentary ice cream service. One small disappointment was that breakfast is served buffet-style in the restaurant, but our table was far from where you pick up food. We were traveling with an elderly parent, so it was a bit difficult for them to go back and forth. I also felt that families with babies seated far away might have a hard time as well. Although many guests were dining, there were still some seats available closer to the buffet area, so we would have appreciated more consideration when assigning seats. Other than that, both the facilities and our room were very clean, and we were able to relieve our everyday fatigue. Thank you very much.

    Warm, heartfelt service.

    Lately, even luxury Accommodations in Hakone-Yumoto often don’t escort guests to their Room, and many have shifted to a more self-service, efficiency-focused style without dedicated attendants, which I found disappointing. However, Nanpuso properly escorted us to our Room, and a dedicated attendant was assigned to each Room—its heartfelt service made me truly happy. Also, although I’m embarrassed to say I left something behind, they responded immediately and it arrived by courier the next day. I’m very grateful. This was my third stay, and I will definitely stay again in the future. I’m completely satisfied every time.

    Second stay in 15 years

    This was my second stay, the first in 15 years. The Room, bath, and service were all excellent, but I felt the quality of the meals had declined considerably compared with my previous visit.

    Getting around was difficult...

    It said “annex, lower floors,” but I was surprised at how far it was from the baths and the lounge. At meals as well, our table was the farthest from where you go to get drinks, which was quite inconvenient. Rather than relaxing, the trip felt rushed and hectic.

    It was great as it is within walking distance from Hakone-Yumoto Station.

    We drove from Nanpuso to Hakone-Yumoto Station, which is downhill and seemed suitable for walking. However, the route from Hakone-Yumoto Station to Nanpuso is slightly uphill and might be a bit challenging. If you have small children, taking a bus would be a better option. The bath was very spacious and enjoyable.

    Highly Satisfied

    We stayed as a pair of friends. Our Room was in the low-rise annex, but it was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. The meals, both dinner and breakfast, were all delicious with excellent quality. During dinner, we were served a complimentary sea bream head dish. My friend had prepared a cake to celebrate my birthday, so I wondered if the service was because of my birthday—it made me very happy. The Plan included all-you-can-drink beverages with a wide variety to choose from, and everything tasted great. All the staff members were very friendly and made our stay extremely pleasant. The welcome drink and snack service were also delightful touches. The bath was relaxing with plenty of space, and the changing room was clean and well-maintained. I personally appreciated that the showerhead and hairdryer were from ReFa brand products! It was an excellent stay overall—thank you so much!

    Sincere Hospitality

    The charm of the traditional building combined with the cleanliness and modern feel of the room was perfect. The room was spacious, stylish, and the quality of the private open-air bath was impeccable! The view of autumn leaves from the room was also breathtaking. We chose a plan with breakfast only, and despite being a buffet, everything was warm and incredibly delicious. For an additional 800 yen, we enjoyed karaoke and table tennis, plus unlimited snacks and candy ice cream. The curry at the ryokan's café was so tasty that it paired perfectly with beer. Above all, every staff member was kind and attentive, making our stay comfortable from start to finish—I didn’t want to leave (laughs). Everything about this place exceeded expectations; I usually don’t write reviews but felt compelled to share this experience. Thank you for creating such wonderful memories!

    In-room dining

    We stayed at a Hotel in Hakone where our first dinner was served in the Room. Since we have a small child, having meals in the Room allowed us to enjoy without worrying about others, and our grandchild could eat freely. The in-Room dining had a variety of delicious dishes. We chose a Room with an open-air bath, and it was our grandchild's first time experiencing one—he seemed very happy, making us glad we opted for the new building. One thing to note is that while the breakfast buffet offered various options, we felt that fewer choices would be fine if each dish were of higher quality since the meals served in the Room were exceptionally good. Next time, we plan to stay with both breakfast and dinner served in the Room. The staff member assigned to our Room as well as other staff were very kind, making it a relaxing two-day stay.     It was comfortable.

    We stayed in a room with an open-air bath as a family of four. The staff who guided us were very pleasant, and the room had three separate areas, making it spacious, clean, and lovely. The open-air bath offered scenic views, and the lattice could be adjusted for privacy if needed, allowing us to relax fully. The showerhead was from ReFa, and skincare products from Sekkisei were provided in the washroom—features that women would especially appreciate. Meals were served in private dining rooms for both breakfast and dinner, allowing us to enjoy them at our own pace. Every dish was delicious, leaving us completely satisfied. While some reviews mentioned concerns about musty futons, an old building, or poor food quality, we experienced none of these issues during our stay. Everything was extremely comfortable overall!

    The service and bath were excellent. It was our last trip before my daughter's childbirth. When we informed the staff about her pregnancy, they kindly served red rice and dried kinmedai fish head for dinner. Thank you for your thoughtfulness; my daughter was very happy, and of course, so were we. Due to a last-minute addition of one person, we had to book two Rooms instead of staying in the same Room. The Room we stayed in at the main building seemed old, and there was an unpleasant smell that bothered us a bit. It was slightly tough to deal with, but we managed by keeping the air purifier on high constantly and using deodorizer frequently. It was also a little disappointing that amenities differed depending on the Room level.

    Satisfied with the meals and staff.

    Since it was a reservation just before the three-day weekend, I couldn't choose the room. Although the age of the guest room was noticeable, air purifiers were installed in the hallway and room, showing thoughtful consideration. The meals, both breakfast and dinner, were very delicious. I didn't have high expectations for the all-you-can-drink option at dinner, but there were many varieties available that would satisfy those who enjoy drinking. What impressed me most was that despite being crowded during the three-day weekend, there were detailed explanations about the meal contents and attentive care regarding timing for rice and desserts. Their professionalism truly stood out to me. The bath was simple yet relaxing and enjoyable. Additionally, I noticed that both the showerhead and hairdryer were from a famous beauty equipment brand, which made me feel luxurious. If I have another chance to visit Hakone again, I would love to stay here once more!

    We had a great time.

    Stayed in the annex. The meals and Onsen were excellent. The Room was clean, but due to recent renovations, there are two steps at the entrance. I tripped on the upper step when heading to the entrance. Fortunately, I avoided falling by grabbing onto the wall. If that could be improved, it would be perfect. It had been over 10 years since my last visit, but it didn’t feel outdated at all. I’d love to visit again!

    Not completely satisfying.

    This was my second stay. Last time, I stayed in the old building where the Room was far from the large public bath, and going up and down the elevator was confusing. This time, I stayed on the 2nd floor of the main building, which was very convenient as it was close to the large public bath. Dinner was served in the Room, and I was very satisfied with both its content and taste; I could enjoy it slowly and deliciously. However, breakfast buffet arrangements were a bit disappointing—not so much about its content but more about how it was organized. I happened to use a restroom on the 1st floor last time; it’s bright, clean, has a powder space, and is one of my favorites. I used karaoke this time but found that soundproofing didn’t work at all as noise from neighboring rooms could be heard clearly.

    Musty smell

    The futon has a strong musty smell, even though it seems to be aired out. The food is unacceptable. The Onsen is good, but the dining area is far away. I definitely won't visit again!

    It became a memorable trip to cherish.

    We stayed at this Hotel for 2 nights during a trip to Hakone to celebrate my parents' golden wedding anniversary. Despite the busy Obon season, the staff's courteous service left a lasting impression. Since we traveled by public transportation during the Obon period, we were initially concerned about the uphill walk from the bus stop to the Hotel. However, when we happened to enter from the 6th floor of an annex building, a staff member kindly guided us through an internal elevator, making it easy to reach the main building's front desk. For meals, we enjoyed beef shabu-shabu on our first night and Japanese cuisine on our second night, allowing us to savor different delicious dishes even with a Multiple Night Stay. During dinner on our first night, we received photo services and celebratory gestures from the Hotel that made it a memorable experience for my parents. Additionally, I am very grateful that they accommodated our last-minute request at check-in for a cake celebration on our second night. The baths were gender-specific but featured two types of outdoor baths where we could relax and unwind fully. I would love to stay here again if given another opportunity!

    Summer Vacation at Nanpuso

    During the summer vacation, we used the pool Plan at Nampu-so. The meals and baths were excellent. There was plenty of food, and the breakfast buffet especially delighted my grandchildren. The staff at the Ryokan were very kind, and we would love to visit again.

    The large public bat...

    The large public bath and the room's open-air bath were both very satisfying. The Room was comfortable as well. Dinner could be enjoyed leisurely in the Room, and it was delicious, which I really liked. The staff were pleasant, and I would love to stay here again.
