Perfect for families
Recommended for families. The Facility feels dated, which may be unavoidable in this area. The dinner buffet could use a wider selection; there weren’t many dishes I wanted, and some sections of the nine-compartment plate were left empty. That said, with tempura, sushi, sashimi, and an all-you-can-drink option included, I think it offers good value for the price. Also, despite the Obon holiday crowds, we were seated right away at both dinner and breakfast with no waiting time, which was a plus.

An Early Summer Trip to Shodoshima
The top-floor scenic bath was wonderful; the Onsen was very relaxing. It was great how the view changed between evening and morning. For dinner, since I’m not a fan of buffets, I chose the special kaiseki course. There were many dishes, and everything was delicious—from fresh fish to a tender filet steak. The Room was a modern twin, and the beds were spacious and comfortable. In the lobby there was a coffee machine, and it was nice that you could have as many cups as you liked during the available hours. If I visit Shodoshima again, I’d definitely like to stay here again.

It’s a bit old, but.
Although the building is a bit old, we hardly noticed any issues. We were especially satisfied with the buffet-style meals.

Wonderful staff
A great location for sightseeing related to Shodoshima soy sauce and for visiting Kankakei Gorge. I’m not sure if all Rooms have an ocean view, but even from our Room—which seemed to be the smallest double—we enjoyed a wonderful sea view. The views from the large windows in the public bath and the lounge area next to the front desk are also beautiful. The olive fondue dinner (especially the small potatoes and somen noodles) was excellent, and breakfast items like the rolled omelet and rice balls were delicious—highly recommended! I also loved that with the all-you-can-drink alcohol option at dinner, you can make your own original drinks. On the other hand, there was a strong smell in the Room—possibly from the duvet or carpet—like a harsh cleaner, and I couldn’t sleep. It also seems possible that comments entered during online Reservation may not be checked, so it’s best to confirm important requests by phone. The staff were kind and thoughtful, checking on things like rain, umbrellas, and bus times. Thanks to them, we were able to continue our trip feeling happy. Thank you very much.

Unfortunately.
I made a Reservation under the premium kaiseki Plan with an anniversary add-on. Since there are no power outlets by the bedside, I recommend borrowing an extension cord from the front desk. The Room TV is quite small. The facilities clearly feel dated, though in some places you can tell they’ve tried to make repairs and keep things going. However, the dust on the shelves in the large public bath changing area was terrible. I expected the kaiseki courses to be served in order, but the sequence was completely random and the presentation was sloppy. For garnish, they even placed about 10 cm of green onion tips on top as-is... The sashimi was so dry it made me wonder how long it had been sitting out. There were about five parties dining in the kaiseki venue, but one table seemed to be on a different Plan and was deep-frying skewered cutlets at their table. Because they were frying without any ventilation fan, the room kept getting smokier and smokier, and everyone at other tables looked unhappy. If they’re going to do that, it should be done in a private room. At the end, when they brought out the size-4 cake included with my Plan, I was asked whether I wanted to eat it then or have it in my Room. I said I’d have it in my Room. I assumed they would bring it later, but when I stood up to leave they handed me the cake on a tray. It was my first time ever carrying a whole cake back to my Room at a Hotel (wry laugh). The breakfast buffet wasn’t great either. In this day and age, I thought around 30,000 yen per person for one night with two meals was an excellent deal when I booked—but it wasn’t worth even that price. I understand that improving old Rooms may be difficult, but since there aren’t any restaurants nearby, I really wish they would at least improve the meals.

So glad we stayed here!
All the staff were kind and pleasant. The food wasn’t just a little of everything; it felt carefully selected, and the simmered babylonia whelk, tempura with olive oil, and individual hot pot were delicious. The all-you-can-drink alcohol was also great, and it was my first time seeing the “tornado” beer pour. Both the Room and the bath were very comfortable, and since yukata can come loose, I really appreciated having pajamas as well.

The location was excellent.
I chose this Hotel for the buffet, but everything else was excellent as well. The Hotel staff were very kind, helping with bus cancellations and providing advice on sightseeing schedules. There was always someone at the front desk, making it easy to ask questions. I also appreciated the free coffee and tea service in the sofa area near the front desk, where I could relax while enjoying a beautiful view. The large public bath was spacious enough, and the open-air bath was delightful. The view from my Room was stunning with an amazing ocean view. As for the dinner buffet, it included a drink bar with alcohol options, which is great for those who enjoy drinks; however, the dining space felt crowded like a banquet hall with too many people and tables close together—it wasn’t a relaxing atmosphere for me. Unfortunately, I couldn’t fully enjoy eating or drinking at the buffet due to this; next time I’ll consider adjusting my timing better. The location is convenient as it's close to tourist spots like Marukin Soy Sauce Museum within walking distance—such charming surroundings! Visiting places like Kankakei Gorge allowed me to explore Shodoshima’s attractions thoroughly. Despite some issues during meals, it turned out to be an enjoyable trip overall. Thank you!

Unfortunately.
A significant part of the joy of traveling is dinner. However, the dinner buffet was disappointing. The selection (both quality and variety) was limited, and it was puzzling why meat and sashimi were served in small pieces. It left me feeling a bit sad.

Friendly Trip
Hair dryer should be provided. Hand towels are needed in the washroom. When we went for dinner at 7:30 PM, most of the food was gone, though it was replenished later. It was surprising at first; implementing a proper two-shift system might be better. The tempura and sushi were delicious. The driver was kind and helpful. The Onsen view was amazing. With the shampoo bar, it’s hard to tell which is conditioner after pouring it out, and I ended up using too much. It might be better to either not have it or place them in the bathroom instead. I had a relaxing time—thank you very much!

The property shows noticeable signs of age.
Located along the coastline, the view of the Seto Inland Sea from the Room and the top-floor large public bath was stunning. However, both the exterior and interior are old and deteriorated. The guest Room is a spacious Japanese-Western style with twin beds, but you can feel its age in areas like plumbing and amenities. It must have been a glamorous large Resort Hotel during the bubble era. Meals are served buffet-style for both dinner and breakfast. Dinner included an all-you-can-drink alcohol option with a 90-minute limit. While not luxurious, fresh seafood from the Seto Inland Sea was served, which was delightful. The freshly fried seafood skewers and tai-meshi (sea bream rice) prepared on-site were particularly delicious. Considering value for money, I felt that a price exceeding 50,000 yen for two people did not match what was offered. All staff members who assisted us were very kind and attentive. It's unfortunate given its excellent location.

The bath was spacious, and although there was a fence obstructing the view, the open-air bath still offered a nice view of the mountains. Dinner included many dishes that would appeal to those who enjoy drinking, and the all-you-can-drink option was appreciated. However, I did feel that the price was a bit high considering the venue wasn't that spacious or luxurious. The Shuttle Service to various locations by bus was very helpful.

Excellent!
The staff provided excellent service, warmly welcoming us from arrival to check-out. The location was outstanding. The meals were delicious, featuring plenty of fresh local seafood. While the building showed some signs of age and the dinner buffet could get a bit crowded, these were minor issues. The open-air bath with its stunning view and the freshly made onigiri at breakfast were exceptional highlights. We look forward to visiting again!

I fully enjoyed my summer vacation.
The hospitality of the Hotel staff was truly comforting. Although our check-in was scheduled for 3:00 PM, we arrived at 1:00 PM due to unforeseen circumstances. Thankfully, we were able to use the Hotel pool and had a great time with the kids until check-in time. The breakfast and dinner buffets were delicious, and the open-air bath on the 12th floor was absolutely amazing. The next day, we checked out at 10:00 AM, enjoyed playing in the Hotel pool until after 11:00 AM, and then relaxed in the Hotel lobby until noon. We had a wonderfully relaxing summer vacation at the Hotel, and our family was very satisfied. Thank you so much!

The best traditional Japanese Hotel
I visited with my son, and every staff member we encountered at the front desk, restaurant, and elsewhere was incredibly kind and provided excellent service. The food was absolutely amazing! I had heard from a friend that the cuisine was great, but the high quality truly exceeded my expectations. There were fresh sashimi, steak, and cold shabu-shabu. Sushi was also prepared right in front of us. Even my son, who usually doesn’t like sashimi, said it was delicious and enjoyed it. The tempura was freshly fried as well. Despite being busy, the staff maintained a pleasant attitude throughout our stay, which inspired me to work hard after returning from this trip. Although we didn’t use the pool this time, I noticed that the shower room was spacious and not crowded; I’d love to try it next time. We didn’t go sightseeing around Shodoshima but stayed at the Hotel all day—and still had a wonderful time! Thank you for creating such an unforgettable memory for us; we can’t wait to visit again!

Location and Hospitality
Conveniently accessible from the Jumbo Ferry, we were immediately delighted by the welcoming demeanor and efficiency of the front desk and outdoor staff. The guest rooms, designed to complement the natural terrain, offer stunning views that can also be enjoyed from the bath. Meals featured a variety of locally inspired dishes, which added to our satisfaction.

A satisfying Hotel.
The room is spacious and well-cleaned. The meals were especially delicious and very satisfying. The bath opens at 6 a.m., but it gets extremely crowded. Starting around 5 a.m. might help to alleviate the congestion.

I will visit again!
It was my first time visiting Shodoshima, and I was looking forward to escaping the busy daily life. From the moment I was welcomed, all the staff were incredibly pleasant, adding to the relaxing atmosphere of Shodoshima and allowing me to fully refresh myself. During dinner and breakfast, I spoke with a female staff member who had been there throughout. I commented, "You must be working all the time!" She kindly replied with a smile, "I take naps during lunchtime," which made me happy and became a wonderful memory. The Room was clean and comfortable, leaving me completely satisfied. I will definitely visit again for another refreshing stay!

Relaxing
We stayed in a very spacious Room, which allowed us to relax comfortably. The large public bath was also highly satisfying. We were delighted with the variety of sizes and patterns available for the yukata. The breakfast buffet featured delicious rice, and we enjoyed trying local soy sauces on tamago kake gohan (rice with raw egg) as well as making and eating rice balls. Local ingredients added to the enjoyment of our meal. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful, even guiding us when parking our rental car in the lot. They also provided detailed advice on road conditions to nearby tourist spots. Thank you so much for your hospitality!

We had a great time!
My daughter got engaged and wanted to visit Angel Road on Shodoshima, so we booked two Semi-Suite Rooms and stayed as a group of four. The Rooms were spacious and comfortable. As for the meals, we weren’t used to buffet-style dining, but since dealing with allergies like atopic dermatitis and adjusting for likes/dislikes can be a hassle, we went with the buffet (laughs). They even made sushi to order, and the cake we requested was delicious—we were very satisfied. Now about the baths: extra towels are provided by picking them up at the front desk. And it was my first time in my life sharing an open-air bath with foreign guests! It ended up being three of them to one of me, and I couldn’t understand what they were saying, but I love those once-in-a-lifetime encounters in an open-air bath, so I was disappointed that I couldn’t chat with them. At checkout, we could buy souvenirs next to the front desk, and we even received a gift to celebrate the engagement!!! I had mentioned the engagement when ordering the cake (a bit embarrassing), so it made me really happy. Everyone at the Hotel greeted us with smiles—it truly felt like a good old-fashioned Hotel in the best way. It was nice to talk with the staff again for once; we had warm interactions and had a great time. Someday, when our family grows, I’d love to come back during summer pool season. Thank you very much.

Onsen Travel Group Sightseeing Tour
It was a sightseeing tour with five people who joined the Nitō Onsen tour two years ago. Except for me, everyone was between 77 and 86 years old, but they were all energetic and active. We took a high-speed boat from Takamatsu Port to Shodoshima and toured famous spots by taxi. Although we couldn't visit Kankakei as planned, we enjoyed places like Hōjūin's sacred juniper tree, Yamaro-ku Soy Sauce Factory, Toyo Olive, and the Olive Garden. The room was very spacious with two twin rooms, a Japanese-style room, two toilets, and even a kitchen—like staying in a condominium—which delighted everyone. They were surprised as they had never stayed in such accommodations before. It was more than enough space for five people to relax comfortably. The view from the room was also excellent and truly relaxing. Meals were served buffet-style with many dishes made from local ingredients. The somen noodles and fried items using olive oil were especially crispy and delicious. Drinks (excluding beer) were included as well for enjoyment. The mango ice cream dessert with fruit chunks was incredibly tasty, while the option to fill monaka wafers with red bean paste or ice cream added an extra touch of creativity. The bath area was spacious too; post-bath treats like ice cream or lactic acid drinks added to the experience. We even received free rhinoceros beetle larvae (gender revealed after pupation), which made great souvenirs for grandchildren—everyone loved it! A shuttle service back to Tonosho Port made our return trip easy and convenient. Thank you for creating such wonderful memories!

Thank you for your hospitality, it was very relaxing.
Thank you for your kind assistance in providing transportation (bus) information and advice before our first visit to Shodoshima. The Shuttle Service was very helpful. The meals were delicious and carefully prepared, and the Onsen allowed us to relax at ease. For the anniversary cake, we brought it back to our Room as we were too full during dinner, and your thoughtful handling of this was much appreciated. (I was looking forward to enjoying it the next morning, but my portion was eaten by my child late at night—it must have been very tasty!) The game corner and choosing yukata added a nostalgic charm to the Hotel's atmosphere, which we found delightful. It was our first time selecting shampoo ourselves; initially, we wondered if there weren’t any provided in the bath area. Carrying shampoo, conditioner, and soap in cups felt a bit tricky but turned out enjoyable overall. Thank you again for your thoughtful attention on our special day!

The Facility feels slightly dated, but it is well-maintained and clean, leaving a positive impression. The meals were generally delicious; however, adding one standout main dish (such as local fish sushi or Olive Beef steak) could make a stronger impression. Please consider this suggestion.

The view from the Room and the bath is breathtaking. I was able to relax. Since it was the season of autumn leaves, I was able to relax while gazing at Kankakei. The building itself seems old, and there was an old smell. Regarding meals, breakfast was reasonably good. Including dinner, the staff's service and the chef's seasoning were good, but I was not satisfied with the ingredients for dinner. It might be inevitable due to rising prices. The breathtaking view remains unchanged, and the ingenuity of the staff and chefs is wonderful. I cannot highly recommend it regarding the age of the building and the ingredients.

There was only one pair of slippers in the bathroom, which was quite inconvenient for us with children. We couldn't leave one person waiting outside alone. Having only one key was also troublesome. Even though we took a bath, we ended up waiting outside and got sweaty. It would be nice if there were two.
