    Dinner was delicious.

    I travel almost every month. Dinner was delicious. The Room was on the second floor and visible from the road, so I kept the shoji screens closed at all times.

    Summer Vacation Trip

    Because I made the Reservation at the last minute, only a larger Room was available, so I booked that one. It was a bit expensive, but I was satisfied with the Room. The Hotel itself is a little old, but it has been renovated and improved in various ways. The meals were well thought out and I was pleased. I would like to visit again when I have the chance.

    An accommodation near Yahiko Shrine.

    The Facility feels a bit dated, but the Room was spacious (even with a standard Reservation, it had two separate rooms) and very clean. Since the air conditioner’s airflow direction in the Room couldn’t be adjusted, it felt cold if you were sitting where the air hit directly. When making the Reservation, I meant to choose a plan with breakfast and dinner but mistakenly selected breakfast only, so there was no dinner included. However, the staff provided a map and recommended nearby restaurants where we could have dinner. Breakfast was buffet-style, but there were only two start times—7:00 or 8:00—and since seating is rotated at 8:00, you can’t be late. I wish start times could be chosen in 15-minute increments. The made-to-order omelet was delicious. There is an open-air bath, and as it is known as “beauty-skin hot spring,” it left my skin feeling smooth. The torii gate of Yahiko Shrine is very close by, making this Accommodation convenient for visiting the shrine.

    Overall, it is standard.

    It was convenient because it’s right at the entrance to Yahiko Shrine. The bath is far from the Room and, despite that, I didn’t find it distinctive at all. Dinner was disappointing—the sashimi wasn’t fresh. It’s a shame, since Niigata is known for great seafood. The service was good.

    Recommended for guests visiting Yahiko Shrine, located right in front of it. The property was clean, with thoughtfully arranged flowers and artwork, and the Room was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was buffet-style, featuring delicious Niigata specialties.

    Accommodation near Yahiko Shrine

    It’s been a little while since my stay. I stayed in mid-January. On the day, we were told a severe cold wave was coming, but there wasn’t as much snow as expected. I arrived at Yahiko Station as planned, and although it was earlier than scheduled, the Accommodation’s Shuttle Service vehicle was already waiting, so I reached the Accommodation smoothly. The Accommodation is very close to Yahiko Shrine, and I could also see Yahiko Forest from the property. This time I stayed in a Room called “Shijoka,” a Taisho-Romantic style guest room with an open-air bath. I had assumed it would be semi-open-air, but while there were privacy screens, it was an open and airy outdoor bath. The water temperature was perfect, and through gaps in the screens I could even see Yahiko Shrine. The large public bath is on the top floor, and soaking in the outdoor bath with snowflakes drifting down felt wonderful. Dinner was a Japanese kaiseki course featuring local ingredients. Breakfast is buffet-style with plenty of options—I ended up eating too much. I stayed at Minoya this time, and it was a well-balanced and very satisfying Accommodation. I wonder what it’s like in summer—I’d love to visit again in another season.

    Disappointed.

    Winter-only plan: single occupancy with dinner and breakfast included I chose this Accommodation based on Reviews, but they weren’t helpful for a solo trip. I understood that I couldn’t expect a view, but the window was covered with dark curtains, and even when rolled up there were no sheer curtains, so it was completely exposed. If there had at least been sheer curtains, natural light could have come in, but there were none at all, making the Room feel very cramped. The toilet bowl and seat didn’t fit properly, making it difficult to use and very unhygienic. There was also no extra toilet paper provided. I was disappointed and really regret staying here. Staying in a twin Room or larger might be comfortable. The food was average; the shabu-shabu and sukiyaki were delicious. The fuki miso was also tasty—since it said “handmade Nagaoka,” I would have liked to buy it if it had been available in the shop. The baths were good, both the indoor bath and the open-air bath. There is no coffee in the Room, so I felt that if there were takeout cups available at the dining area, I could have enjoyed coffee back in my Room after meals.

    Please note that parking conditions may be hazardous during the winter season.

    Heavy snowfall delayed our arrival until after 5:00 PM. The staff were very courteous and helpful at check-in, which we really appreciated. However, at check-out, when we asked for directions to the parking space we were shown, there was a misunderstanding and we couldn’t communicate well. We walked up the snowy road feeling uneasy. As expected, there were piles of snow at the parking lot entrance, and the path was also buried in snow. In winter, we recommend bringing snow boots and a shovel.

    I would love to stay here again.

    Thank you for your hospitality. I stayed during the jazz festival and was troubled as there were no nearby places for takeout coffee, but they kindly prepared free drinks earlier than usual. The front desk staff were very kind. It is located very close to Yahiko Shrine, and I would like to stay again next year. The building is a bit old, but it feels comfortable and relaxing.

    A Base for Exploring Yahiko

    Stayed in June during a visit to Tsubame-Sanjo. The accommodation was so comfortable that I returned for another stay. The staff were very polite and attentive, making my stay extremely pleasant. This time, I explored the area around Yahiko Shrine, Sado Island, the Okumiya offering views of the Echigo Plain, and Yahiko Park. It was a perfect one-day itinerary with a refreshing mix of history and charm. I would love to stay at this accommodation again during the autumn foliage or cherry blossom season.

    The Super Mario Bros. on the Famicom at the play area on the first floor of the Hotel was so much fun that I wanted to stay and play it forever.

    It's a shame because the service is excellent.

    There was no valet parking or luggage service, and the overall staff shortage was noticeably more apparent compared to before. It was disappointing because this Ryokan usually has many very kind and hospitable staff members. Additionally, I stayed in the largest room, but the L-shaped sofa lacked a sense of cleanliness, so I hope it will be covered or replaced immediately.

    At the Foot of Yahiko Shrine

    I discovered Yahiko Shrine through a TV program and decided to embark on a Goshuin journey. This accommodation, located right in front of the shrine, offered exceptionally polite service from the staff, allowing me to relax fully. The meals were both visually and gastronomically delightful, especially the Imperial Court's dedicated Iyahiko rice, which encapsulated the deliciousness of Niigata's renowned rice with its natural sweetness. Soaking in the Onsen relieved my travel fatigue, and I even went for an evening stroll. While there were few late-night dining options nearby, Yahiko Shrine stood out beautifully amidst the tranquility. As souvenirs, I purchased miso for making miso soup and chopsticks used during dinner as keepsakes of my trip. Just thinking about those scenes brings excitement even now!

    Hospitality Accommodation

    We visited this Onsen accommodation for the first time with our 1.5-year-old daughter. The room had an open-air bath, was spacious, and very clean. The air conditioning worked perfectly, making our stay comfortable. The private open-air bath in the room featured a ceramic tub that automatically refilled when the water level dropped. Dinner was served in a private dining room at the restaurant, allowing us to relax even with a child. The sashimi was incredibly fresh and delicious. For the final dish, we enjoyed salmon rice cooked in a pot right at our table; since it was too much to finish, they kindly made onigiri for us to enjoy as a late-night snack. Overall, the staff were kind and provided exceptional hospitality. It became an unforgettable memory with my daughter. We would love to visit again!

    With my wife, just the two of us

    I managed to make a Reservation for an Accommodation in Tsubame-Sanjo, which has recently been featured on TV, as I suddenly got some time off. The Accommodation is conveniently located near Yahiko Shrine, making it an excellent base for sightseeing. The staff were very accommodating and kind, even to guests who arrived late for breakfast. While the exterior may appear old-fashioned, the interior has been renovated and is impeccably clean with excellent service. Despite its outward appearance, this is a place I would love to stay at again when visiting Tsubame-Sanjo.

    First time at Yahiko...

    First time at Yahiko Onsen. Solo stay. Located right in front of Yahiko Shrine, making it convenient for a refreshing early morning visit. The long and narrow room, reminiscent of an eel's bed, featured a comfortable bed and a relaxing chair with an ottoman. The staff were kind and attentive, the Onsen was excellent, and I had a relaxing time after the Golden Week holidays.

    Standard Monthly

    Stayed in the same room and plan as last year during the same month. The retro-style room with Simmons beds provided a comfortable morning without back pain, which was great for someone like me who has back issues. I was happy with my choice of this room for two consecutive years. For meals, dinner included fresh seafood, meat, and creative dishes that were delicious. Breakfast was a buffet style, allowing me to enjoy my favorite foods to my satisfaction. The bath area was renovated in January this year, and the changing rooms were very clean. With the benefits of the onsen water, my body stayed warm after bathing, and I enjoyed it three times in total during my stay. The building has some history but is well-maintained and offers a cozy atmosphere. For reference, it is conveniently located near Yahiko Shrine—perfect for exploring after check-in or early morning walks. When staying as two groups together, we had dinner in a spacious private dining room where we could enjoy our meal and conversations without worrying about others around us—a delightful experience!

    Since it was a weekday, there were few guests, allowing for a relaxing and leisurely stay.

    We made a reservation for 5 people, including women, in one room. We were satisfied with the spacious room provided, which allowed us to ensure privacy for the women. Since it was a weekday, there were few guests, and we enjoyed a leisurely atmosphere that felt like an escape from everyday life. It was our first time staying at "Minoya," and it turned out to be a large onsen ryokan with spacious interiors and well-cleaned guest rooms on the 8th floor. The bathhouse building and banquet/dining building on the 7th floor are connected by a corridor from the 4th floor. For dinner, we were guided to the innermost room, which gave us a special feeling, and everyone praised the elaborate dishes. For breakfast, we chose our favorite dishes from a buffet while enjoying the view through large windows covering an entire wall (it was snowing lightly outside) and ended up eating too much. (laughs) The onsen was slightly disappointing as it was just an ordinary simple spring; however, it had spacious bathtubs that were well-maintained. There is also an excellent location for visiting Yahiko Shrine's torii gate right in front of you (about 30 meters away). It received positive feedback from other four members as well.

    I just asked if a bus was available in front of the station, but

    As the hotel's bus was stopped in front of the station, I asked if it was necessary to "Complete the Reservation" to board. The response was a blunt and annoyed "A group is coming now," with a frown. Was my question that abrupt? The front desk's response at check-in was also lacking. I felt there was a lack of hospitality. I will not use this service again.
