    The meals are delicious.

    The meals were very delicious—both breakfast and dinner. The private open-air bath in the room was especially convenient, as we could use it anytime without worrying about the time. Just be mindful of insects. It became a wonderful and memorable stay.

    The natural hot spring water is wonderful.

    Since it was a special price, I shouldn’t complain too much, but aside from the natural hot spring water, it was not very impressive. The building and the Facility both feel quite worn out. Each Room has its own bath, but because it is outdoors, insects (stink bugs, moths, longhorn beetles, cicadas, etc.) gather around it, which made me uncomfortable.

    What a waste.

    The red-and-white roof—really, the whole exterior—feels exactly like a “stylish European” image from the Showa era. Even though the new detached restaurant feels modern, when you look at the Hotel as a whole, the concept doesn’t feel cohesive. I thought that if you refreshed the branding colors—such as using peppermint green—you might attract more younger guests. The interior also hasn’t been updated, with faded old printed pictures on display. I felt those could be turned into a strength by leaning into a city-pop style interior and presenting it as “nostalgic Showa.” It almost made me start thinking about marketing ideas on my own—because it would be such a shame for this place to be known only for its wonderful staff and amazing baths. At the restaurant, there were no plant-based options other than the salad bar (sadly). I came ready to spend money, but there weren’t any choices. This is true across Nikko in general. The vegetables were high quality, though, and I wanted to share that on TikTok and similar platforms. The baths were outstanding. Thank you very much.

    Last week, I stayed ...

    Last week, I stayed at this Ryokan with a friend and had a wonderful night. The Onsen is excellent, and our Room was equipped with Onsen water and a wooden bathtub, which made for a very relaxing experience. I also truly appreciated how quickly the staff called me when I left something behind, allowing me to retrieve it safely. Please note that the bus service in front of the Ryokan stops running at 3:00 PM.

    This was a family trip, and the Ryokan’s facilities and environment were very comfortable. It was wonderful that each room had its own hot spring bath! The staff were very kind—after learning we arrived by bus, they proactively asked whether we would like a free shuttle to the station at check-out, and they kindly confirmed again the next day when we checked out.

    If you’re coming mainly for the baths, this is a great choice.

    Stayed with my mother. A ¥5,000 ticket is included as a meal voucher, but no change is given, so if you can’t use it exactly you’ll need to pay the difference. The pizza place was closed, so we chose seafood instead, but to be honest the portion was small for a ¥2,000 rice bowl, and the pork menchi-katsu (3 pieces for ¥800) was tough and disappointing. Breakfast is a fully Western-style set with only the bare minimum. There was only cabbage—I'd have liked some tomatoes and onions as well. There is no shop; instead, snacks were laid out on a table and sold for ¥100 each, but they were all salty items with no cookies or chocolate. The one good point was the bath, but since there are private houses directly in front of it, we had to keep the curtains closed all the time, which was a bit disappointing even though it’s an open-air bath. I recommend staying without meals. The staff were good, which makes it even more regrettable that the food wasn’t better.

    Affordable pricing near popular sightseeing spots. The in-room semi-open-air bath is an Onsen, which was great.

    Stress was relieved.

    A Hotel in the forest I had a peaceful stay. There was an open-air bath on the balcony, which allowed me to refresh completely. With Kirifuri Highlands nearby, I would love to visit again during the autumn foliage season.

    Worth the price?

    The Onsen had heated water available, so we could enjoy it warm, but the natural spring water alone was cold. The Room was also smaller than expected, which surprised us, but it felt reasonable for the price.

    Disappointed

    I stayed for one night over New Year’s. Setting aside that it didn’t match the photos, the Room TV was mounted directly above my head and was hard to watch. What if something happened in the middle of the night and it fell? The Room air conditioner’s airflow direction control was also broken. In the large public bath, cleaning was inadequate—hair was everywhere, and there wasn’t even a lint roller. Also, the bath towel I had left there was taken by someone. Dinner used a coupon system worth 2,500 yen per person (two 1,000-yen coupons and one 500-yen coupon). It’s set up like a food court, and you pay separately at each shop. Since prices aren’t in 500-yen increments, if you buy something for 2,100 yen you have to forfeit 400 yen. At minimum, I wish the coupons could be applied to the total across all shops. Otherwise they should offer 100-yen tickets; as it is, you either waste money or end up paying extra in cash. The staff were pleasant, but I question this Hotel’s approach overall. I will never stay here again.

    The private open-air bath in the room was amazing!

    I used this Hotel for a day trip! Because the building is quite old, the Room and Facility are a bit dated. However, the private open-air bath in each guest Room was absolutely wonderful! There’s no need to leave your Room, and you can enjoy the Onsen as many times as you like whenever you feel like it. The Onsen water must be very high quality—I felt warmed through to my core, and even after getting out I didn’t get cold at all. It was so relaxing that it completely melted away my daily fatigue. The hinoki (cypress) bath also had a lovely atmosphere. It also seems you can enjoy nearby Onsen facilities around the Hotel, and there are private baths available for an additional fee. I didn’t use those because I was more than satisfied with just the open-air bath in my Room, but if you want to soak in a more spacious Onsen, I think those would be a great option. Even considering that some of the Facility feels old, for this price—having such an effective Onsen available in every guest Room whenever you want—it feels not just fair but actually quite reasonable. I’d definitely like to stay again. Thank you very much!

    Semi-open-air bath (unlimited use)

    The Room has a semi-open-air bath that you can use as many times as you like, and if you focus on that, it’s an excellent Hotel. The guest Room itself is basically a slightly larger Business Hotel-style Room, so it’s perfectly fine unless you have very specific preferences. The dinner options are food-court style, with separate Japanese and Western restaurants. Considering the balance of price and satisfaction, I’d personally choose either the Western or Italian option. Breakfast is buffet-style, but there are no trays, so you have to plate your food, place it at your table, and then line up again—an inefficient setup that causes congestion for about the first 20 minutes after opening. It may be better to adjust your timing before entering. There are a few minor downsides, but the semi-open-air bath in the Room more than makes up for them. I’d like to stay again.

    A Quiet Accommodation

    Everything was excellent. The on-site “GREEN TERRACE” is a food court with a great lineup of options—steak, seafood rice bowls, soba, udon, pizza, Western dishes, and Chinese cuisine. The greenhouse area was wonderful, and the terrace seating was also very nice. This time we tried the steak place, the pizza place, and the soba shop; the hamburger steak was especially delicious. The pizza had a fluffy crust and was outstanding. The soba was tasty, and we were very satisfied with the generous tempura (maitake mushroom tempura). Every shop in the food court is high quality. The in-room open-air bath is small, but because it uses natural hot spring water from the source, we were able to relax and warm up thoroughly. We’d love to come back again as repeat guests.
