    It was great!

A stay given as a birthday gift! They also brought a cake as a surprise, and both the Onsen and the Room were spacious—everything was excellent.

    Enjoy Kyoto’s Hidden Retreat

This Onsen is a relaxing retreat away from the hustle and bustle of Kyoto. The baths are spacious, and the large open-air bath in particular was comfortable and very soothing. The food was delicious, and I felt it offered great value for money. They also kindly drove us to the trolley train station on our way back, which was a big help.

Thank you for your continued support.

I have been coming back ever since I discovered this place earlier this year. It is a cozy and wonderful spot. The food is incredibly delicious, and I always look forward to it. The Onsen is relaxing, and the Room is spacious. Thank you as always!

    A nostalgic accommodation.

We informed in advance about having difficulty walking. We made a reservation for 2 rooms for 4 people. Although we were told one room would be a Japanese-style room, on the day of our stay, both rooms were equipped with beds by adding movable beds. Thank you for your thoughtfulness. Dinner was a variety of Japanese dishes, including delicious hamo and matsutake mushroom dobinmushi. We requested accommodation with cake to celebrate the birthdays of two friends this month, and they were very happy as it was a surprise since they hadn't celebrated their birthdays in recent years. Breakfast was a semi-buffet style with plenty of food; however, some items weren't tasty, which was slightly disappointing. The ups and downs within the facility were challenging due to my difficulty walking. The parking lot being across the road and having steep slopes made it quite tough to carry suitcases while using a cane. It would have been nice if there had been an elevator from the roadside or assistance with carrying luggage at least.

I am a fan of Keizan...

I am a fan of Keizankaku. I have visited many times, and despite the severe impact of COVID-19 over the past four years and various cost-cutting measures, I still enjoy my stays here. The tatami in the older guest rooms is always clean and pleasant, and the sea bream sashimi is fresh with a delightful texture. The comparison of meats and steamed vegetables is delicious, likely due to the quality ingredients. (From experience, upgrading from the standard plan for meals seems to enhance overall satisfaction.) The beautiful flower arrangements at the lobby entrance and the warm smile of the proprietress are also very comforting. In Kyoto city, international chain hotels can cost 100,000 to 200,000 yen without meals. In contrast, even though this is Kameoka, I admire how you manage to maintain such reasonable prices. It makes me want to support traditional Japanese ryokan like yours. There are some areas for improvement such as breakfast options, drainage odors, or old hair dryers; however, I trust these will be addressed as your business recovers financially. Thanks to you all again for allowing me a peaceful retreat during this holiday season. Thank you very much! I’ll be back again soon! :)

    Travel with Elderly Mother

This trip was planned at my mother's request to take our relatives, who came from the Kanto region to Osaka for a memorial service, on a sightseeing tour. Previously, when I went to another Onsen with my mother, she quickly got out of the bath because she felt the floor was slippery. So this time, we requested a room with a private bath. However, this Ryokan had non-slip tiles and handrails placed throughout the facility, making it safe for both elderly guests and young children. My mother was delighted and enjoyed bathing in the Onsen before dinner and early in the morning without needing to use the private bath in our room. Additionally, as I have food allergies, they kindly called me beforehand to confirm dietary details. For transportation, we took a scenic train from Sagano on our way there and returned via JR Kameoka Station; it was very convenient as we were able to use their shuttle service. The relatives who joined us were also very satisfied with not only the Onsen but also with their warm hospitality during check-in and check-out as well as their excellent cuisine. They even mentioned wanting to visit again!

    Hospitality at its finest.

The front desk staff, despite being sufficient in number, only proceed with the check-in process after being prompted. The guestroom guide walked ahead about 10 meters before asking, "Shall I carry your luggage?" which was declined. My companion was addressed as "Miss," causing some confusion. The room key is limited to just one, which is inconvenient. As for the meals, they were as expected from the photos of the rolled omelet provided. Among the 50 Onsen accommodations I visit annually, this experience felt rare.

Unfortunately, the hospitality was disappointing. For reference, regarding the quality of the meals.

We came to enjoy the accommodation, but we felt that the quality of the meals was quite low. **Dinner** The staff seemed very busy, and we were concerned about a lack of manpower. The dishes were not served at good timing, leaving us wondering when they would arrive as we finished our meal. Even so, the sashimi only consisted of tuna and squid, and the quality of the ingredients did not feel satisfactory. **Onsen** There was an unpleasant smell from the drainage system in the onsen area. While it seemed less noticeable around 10-11 PM when fewer people were present, there was a slippery film on the floor of the open-air bath that made it seem dangerous for guests to walk safely. However, we did enjoy the view from there. **Breakfast** Upon arriving at breakfast, we were surprised to find that meals were handed out cafeteria-style at reception. All dishes were cold and unappetizing. The tray resembled something used in school cafeterias, which added to our disappointment with its low quality. For children’s meals specifically: The breakfast omelet rice was cold and extremely hard—completely inedible. We had been looking forward to breakfast but left feeling very disappointed. If you are seeking hospitality or attentive service during your stay here, this place is not recommended. It’s frustrating to experience such issues during what should have been a relaxing holiday. Additionally: There was even a dead bee by our room window... We eventually informed staff about this issue directly. Guests pay money expecting good service; therefore improvements in hospitality and food service quality are strongly desired moving forward!

    Breakfast could be improved.

About an hour from home, I have used this Onsen several times as a nearby getaway. What stood out was the breakfast. A bento-style set of side dishes was handed out at the table, resembling a semi-buffet system. However, it was cold. While it might be due to the season, I would have preferred something warm. At the dinner venue, there were large name tags displayed—wouldn't using room numbers suffice?

    I had a great time.

I had a very relaxing and enjoyable stay. The staff were extremely kind and attentive, which made me very satisfied. The interior of the facility offers a space where you can unwind at your own pace. The large public bath was spacious and had a quiet area, which was great.
