    I couldn’t help thinking, “IKYU is terrible.”

    The day before visiting Hida Takayama, I searched on IKYU for nearby Accommodations. I use IKYU regularly and consider myself a heavy user as a Diamond member. I made a Reservation at Sekisuien because it has a good history and location, and IKYU listed it at over 40,000 yen, so I assumed it would be a reasonably good Ryokan. However, when I arrived, there was no large public bath, and both the Facility and service were fairly ordinary. After looking into it, I found that it is usually an affordable Accommodation where you can stay for around 15,000 yen per person. Even considering the season right after Obon, I honestly question listing it at nearly three times the usual price. As expected, the meals were also in line with what you would expect from a low-priced Accommodation, which was disappointing. At the regular rate, I think the price and quality match well and guests would be satisfied. Of course, this was my decision so there is nothing to be done. Still, I hope you will continue to feature Accommodations that are truly worth their prices.

    I stayed here to wat...

    I stayed here to watch Gujo Odori. The lobby and shared Facility had a retro Showa-era vibe, but everything felt clean, and the Room had been newly and stylishly renovated. There is no large public bath. It was a bit inconvenient that there was no door between the toilet and the washbasin area. The Shuttle Service by minibus to near the Gujo Odori venue was very convenient. Breakfast starts early, and checkout is also early at 10:00, which may be typical for an old-fashioned Hotel, but it did feel a little rushed. Thank you very much.

    Your First Time in Gujo Hachiman

    This was our first visit to Gujo Hachiman. Our package tour was canceled due to a typhoon, and since we had extra time off and had wanted to visit for a while, we made a Reservation this time. Because it was a last-minute booking, we only found out at check-in that there is no large public bath, which surprised us given the exterior—but the in-room bathroom was spacious and very easy to use! It’s close to the castle and surrounded by forest in a quiet location, so we were able to relax. We left the Room selection up to the property, but we were given a twin Room on the second floor with a great view. Having both our Room and the dining area on the second floor made everything convenient with minimal walking. The welcome drinks in the lobby were also great—the drip coffee was delicious, and I refilled the pulpy orange juice several times! The meals were not buffet-style; they were just the right amount (not too much) and featured tasty local dishes. For us—who usually travel only to Onsen destinations—it was calming and a refreshing change of pace. We’d love to visit again if we have another chance.

    A peaceful Accommodation atmosphere

    The Room was very spacious and clean, and although the barrier-free Room does not have an Onsen (large public bath), the bathroom was also spacious, easy to use, and very comfortable. Dinner was excellent, but breakfast felt like a standard Japanese set meal for a school trip, which was a bit disappointing. Even with fewer items, it would have been better if hot dishes were served hot and we could enjoy more homemade food. The service was very pleasant, making this a calm and relaxing Accommodation.

    I had a relaxing time!

    The room was spacious, and the view of the garden was soothing. Dinner was very delicious and satisfying! The bath was also large and pleasant.

    It was disappointing that there was no Onsen. The meals were delicious, and the drink service was satisfying.

    I stayed at the acco...

    I stayed at the accommodation to participate in the Gujo Odori dance. The shuttle service to the dance venue and station, along with various explanations and kind support, made it a pleasant experience to join the dance and explore the streets of Gujo Hachiman. I'm glad I chose this accommodation. Thank you for your hospitality.

    Family-friendly

    The Room was clean and tidy, with a great view from the bath. The meals in the morning and evening were very delicious. The staff were also kind and helpful. In the souvenir corner, various food sample keychains were on sale, making it fun to choose. My son and I each bought one to take home.
