    Great meals, relaxing Onsen, and a Hotel perfect for family fun!

    This was our first stay. We stayed for two nights over the New Year holidays with three generations of our family. The deciding factors were table tennis, meals, and onsen. Anticipating it might be crowded, we reserved an early time for table tennis, which turned out to be a good decision. Our child, who loves table tennis, enjoyed playing twice on the first day, once on New Year's Day morning, and once after checkout with their grandparents. We would like to request some improvements regarding the repair of rackets and the installation of chairs in the basement table tennis area. Playing with worn-out rackets reduces enjoyment significantly. Also, while the basement has excellent tables and better lighting conditions for playing without glare from lights above ground level, we avoided using it because there were no chairs available for elderly spectators in our family. The meals lived up to their reputation; the signature asparagus rolls were incredibly delicious! Our child especially loved the shrimp chili dish so much that they had multiple servings and even made shrimp chili fried rice by combining it with fried rice at the end—eating happily! The variety and taste seemed appealing across all age groups. The New Year's breakfast buffet included traditional osechi dishes and ozoni soup—a delightful surprise that allowed us to feel a sense of celebration even while traveling during this special time of year. Each dish was carefully prepared; both breakfast and dinner were excellent! The omelets were outstanding. As for bathing facilities: both outdoor baths (rotenburo) and indoor baths sourced directly from hot springs (onsen) were wonderful. It’s rare to find water so inviting that you want multiple visits during your stay! However—it’s unfortunate that you cannot see open skies from within rotenburo due its covered ceiling design; allowing views upward would enhance guest experiences further given how great everything else already feels here overall when soaking outdoors under natural surroundings instead being enclosed entirely overhead unnecessarily detracting slightly otherwise perfect ambiance provided naturally occurring mineral-rich waters themselves alone suffice impressively enough without additional distractions detracting unnecessarily elsewhere altogether avoidable entirely altogether ideally speaking optimally maximizing potential benefits fully realized ultimately achieved successfully implemented accordingly adjusted appropriately improved upon effectively addressed proactively resolved     The famous asparagus wrapped in meat was absolutely amazing!

    We stayed as a group of five, including my daughters. Although we checked in earlier than planned, the staff kindly accommodated us. Thank you to the front desk staff for your clear and thorough explanations. The bath was at a perfect temperature for a relaxing soak, leaving our bodies warm and comfortable for hours. For meals, we were delighted to enjoy the asparagus meat rolls we had been looking forward to the most—absolutely satisfying! While there weren’t too many dishes, each one showed great attention to detail. The room was spacious, comfortable, and impeccably clean. Next time, I’ll visit with my sons!

    First visit after renovation.

    I have loved the large public bath of this Hotel so much that I have used it about four times even before the renovation. After the renovation, with added welcome drinks and more sofas, I was happy to use them right away upon arrival. The dining area, which was slightly small before, has been completely renovated on the second floor. The variety of desserts has increased, and the asparagus wrapped in meat that was available before is still incredibly delicious. What made me happiest was how rich the coffee is—it tasted great even as a café latte, which I truly appreciated. The large public bath now uses card keys instead of number security locks, and thank you for upgrading to the latest hairdryers as well! Although the Room itself is old, it feels clean and well-maintained. With so much effort put into all shared spaces, I am always extremely satisfied every time I stay here. I'm sure I'll be using this Hotel again soon! Thank you very much!

    Great value for the price.

    Suddenly decided on the last hike of the year and searched around Sengokuhara. Usually stay at rather expensive accommodations like "○ no Take" or "Fu○," but this time chose this place thinking it would be fine as long as I could sleep. With dinner and breakfast included, it was reasonably priced at just under 14,000 yen per person. At check-in, I thought I had reserved a non-smoking room, but it turned out to be a smoking room. However, they kindly changed it to a non-smoking room upon request. **Good Points** - The room was spacious and clean - Quiet even on the roadside side - The large public bath and open-air Onsen were pleasant - Buffet meals: Although I was worried since I rarely stay at hotels with buffet dinners, there were plenty of dishes for the price of accommodation, and the taste was decent enough. - The beef carved during dinner unexpectedly tasted good - Rice balls for breakfast were delicious - No unnecessary amenities (like lotions) provided - Two bottles of water in the room - Parking lot is behind the building which feels somewhat secure **Not-so-Good Points** - Drinks are free in the lounge but only black coffee or American coffee available; would have liked café au lait or tea. Also wished for cold drinks (not up to other hotel lounge standards; more like free coffee availability). - Room outlets are standard ones only; slightly inconvenient for charging smartphones - Large public bath: Even when using during less crowded times, all upper-tier lockers lacked keys (in use? intentionally unavailable?). Only bottom-tier lockers could be used—perhaps some guests take keys home? - Some elderly requiring care came with caregivers (not family based on conversations), possibly using day-use Onsen services? If so, wish their timing didn’t overlap with staying guests’ usage hours. - Buffet: Due to weak heating elements perhaps? Chinese-style vegetable stew and fried rice were lukewarm—would’ve been delicious if hot! Disappointing that salads were identical from previous evening’s dinner service. - Omelet butter/margarine smell too strong—it ruined omelets entirely! Suggest switching to olive oil or salad oil instead. Overall though, it's acceptable quality considering this price point!

    Excellent service

    The staff were very friendly, and the service was excellent. The meals—especially breakfast—were great, and our child loved the freshly fried bread so much that they went back for seconds several times. The Facility has been renovated and didn’t feel old, but perhaps the walls are thin: late at night we were woken up by loud noises and voices from other rooms and couldn’t get back to sleep afterward, so our overall rating is 3.5.

    The bath and meals are excellent.

    The Onsen was incredibly relaxing, and I enjoyed it three times on the day of arrival and twice on the day of departure. The meals were of high quality, and everything I had was delicious and very satisfying. Although this may vary by individual, the only downside was that the bed was a bit too firm, which made my sleep lighter than usual.

    Dinner was disappointing.

    I used to visit Ricave often when my children were young, and I always looked forward to the dinner buffet. After my children became independent, I hadn't visited much, but I decided to go again because I missed the buffet. It seems they partially renovated last year; the reception floor and restaurant were more spacious and clean. The bath and Room remained unchanged. While it felt unnecessarily spacious, my main purpose was dinner, so I started with high expectations. First, the all-you-can-eat crab was gone. Next, there was no sushi either. While asparagus meat rolls were available as fried items, quail eggs and konjac fries were not offered anymore. There was no steak either—no freshly fried or grilled dishes at all—perhaps due to cost-cutting on labor? The variety of small plate dishes had decreased as well... The horse meat was too tough to enjoy. It left me disappointed. On a positive note, the rice balls at breakfast were new and enjoyable; the rice itself was fluffy and well-cooked. I will not be returning again.

    The Onsen and meals were excellent.

    The renovated Facility had a nostalgic feel with sounds like the elevator, but the Room was very clean, and we had a relaxing stay. The meals and bath were excellent. We looked forward to them and were even more satisfied, making it a delightful trip for the two of us as a couple after a long time. Thank you very much.

    It was a Hotel with a very pleasant atmosphere.

    After checking in, we settled into the room and decided to play table tennis, so we headed to the game space next to the hotel entrance. The area was beautifully renovated, and while playing table tennis and enjoying some beer, we noticed that other guests were also relaxing, creating a very pleasant atmosphere. The dining area was clean, and the asparagus was delicious. What disappointed us was that there were two toilets in the room, but the one we used did not have a bidet function. Additionally, the foot of the simple bed sagged, making it uncomfortable to sleep on. While this might be due to it being an older accommodation, I believe these issues could be improved. That said, it was a comfortable stay overall, and I would like to visit again if given the chance.

    A convenient-to-use Hotel.

    Affordable & Convenient Location We stayed at this accommodation on the second day of our Hakone trip. It is close to facilities like the Glass Museum and Pola Museum of Art, and a bus ride takes you quickly to Togendai Port on Lake Ashi. The room had a spacious bath and wash area, which was a nice feature. Both dinner and breakfast were buffet-style with plenty of options, and the dining hall was spacious enough to enjoy meals at ease. The hotel seemed popular among families, making it suitable for family trips with small children as well. Surprisingly, there appeared to be fewer foreign travelers staying here.

    This is my second stay.

    The room is spacious and comfortable. Despite the Western-style naming of the rooms, the bath features authentic Onsen facilities, including a large open-air bath and a clean changing area, which are excellent. The dinner buffet offers a wide variety of delicious options, with the asparagus meat-wrapped fry being particularly outstanding—it was so good that it felt like we returned just for that dish. The dining area is spacious; even with seven people in our group, seating was reserved for us without any waiting time. However, the air conditioning in the dining area was not very effective, making it warm, and it was difficult to get staff attention for additional drink orders due to the large space. The noise from what seemed like a ventilation fan in the room was slightly bothersome and led to some deduction in points. However, considering the price point, it offered great value overall. The staff were exceptionally friendly and accommodating—both local and international staff members left a positive impression. The lounge was also comfortable and enjoyable to spend time in.

    The reviews for the buffet were so good that I had high expectations. I think the quality matches the price. Since there seem to be many inbound guests, onsen etiquette should be clearly displayed in visible locations. I decided not to bathe after seeing someone enter the bath with a bath towel wrapped around them and long hair left untied.

    Thank you for the delicious cuisine and the hospitality of the staff.

    I always look forward to the delicious food, and this time's dim sum fair was also very tasty and satisfying. The restaurant has a spacious area where you can relax, and the lobby is perfect for enjoying coffee at your leisure. I think this Hotel offers excellent value for money. I will definitely use it again.

    The Onsen is excellent.

    The lobby was very lovely, but the room turned out to be quite simple. When we arrived at the Onsen, there was only a red curtain in front of an iron door, which made us wonder if this was really the Onsen...!? Others around us were also asking each other if this was the right place. Adding signs or text to indicate "women's bath" on the curtains would make it much clearer and completely change the atmosphere—it felt like a missed opportunity. However, as soon as I opened the door and entered the Onsen, all those concerns disappeared because an amazing Onsen awaited us. The natural flowing hot spring water was truly exceptional. Dinner afterward also tasted incredibly delicious. The buffet had just the right variety of dishes, and both seating space and cleanliness were excellent for an enjoyable experience. The staff members were very kind and attentive as well. Thank you so much!

    - The quality of the Onsen was excellent. - Although it was supposed to be a non-smoking room, there was a slight smell of tobacco, and dust had accumulated on the air conditioner vent on the ceiling. - The room was a Japanese-Western style, but the futon in the Japanese area was thin and caused back pain. - As for the Facility overall, perhaps due to aging, apart from the renovated entrance lobby, its oldness stood out, and even in shared areas, the smell of tobacco was noticeable. - Regarding meals, while the fried bread at breakfast was delicious, other dishes including dinner seemed to be at a Business Hotel level.

    Cost-effective accommodation

    We stayed here after visiting the Fuji Shibazakura Festival. The 60-square-meter Japanese-Western style room was spacious and comfortable for four people. However, I slept in the Japanese-style room, and the futon was thin, making it uncomfortable to sleep on; a mattress or similar addition would have been appreciated. The dining area was spacious, allowing us to enjoy both dinner and breakfast without waiting. Adding one or two more main dishes to dinner would enhance its luxury. That said, considering the Accommodation Fee, it's excellent value for money. Highly recommended as a cost-effective accommodation!

    I stayed here for the first time after the renovation, and I’m definitely coming back. We used a Japanese-Western style Room, which was perfectly spacious for two people. The tatami area was relaxing, and the luxurious Room allowed us to rest fully on the bed. For those staying in the North Wing, I recommend checking in without your luggage first to get your key and then returning to the parking lot to retrieve your belongings. The door between the open-air bath and indoor bath had a hand bucket stuck in it, letting outside air in—it felt unnecessary but not worth worrying about too much. The food was delicious as well! Being able to choose your own seat is a great feature.

    It was a very good Hotel.

    The staff were friendly, the bath was relaxing, and the food was delicious—everything was perfect. It was also great to have free coffee available anytime. One suggestion would be to provide more amenities (such as lotion or aftershave) in the bathroom and Room washroom.

    Conveniently located near Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal, with delicious meals.

    Departed from Shinjuku Busta. I dozed off and arrived at the bus stop in no time. In the clean, welcoming lobby, I enjoyed welcome sweets and coffee. The coffee can be taken back to your Room. It was my first time having a buffet-style dinner at an Onsen Hotel, and it offered more variety than I expected. The live kitchen dishes were high quality. I think guests with average tastes (not food connoisseurs) will be satisfied. Since pre-checkout payment was available late at night, heading home was smooth—overall a very satisfying trip.

    Casual and comfortable

    Used by three people with a friend. The Japanese-Western style room was spacious enough, and although the equipment felt a bit old, it didn't bother us. The bath was also spacious and clean. The meals were all delicious, which was a great choice. Additionally, you can play table tennis for 50 minutes for 500 yen, which I recommend. I would like to use it again.

    Polite service

    They accommodated our sudden stay. Thank you very much. Dinner was delicious, but I felt there was a bit of a lack of meat dishes. It might be really good for women. The seasoning was solid. Breakfast was also enjoyable and very good. I regretted that my stomach wasn't bigger. One thing that bothered me was that although checkout is at 11 AM, the bath is cleaned from 10 AM, which was a bit disappointing. I headed to the bath after breakfast, only to be told that cleaning was about to start, so sorry... I was looking forward to it. Also, there seems to be a smoking area outside on the 1st floor, but the smoke drifted into the elevator hall on the first floor, and there was a really unpleasant smoky tobacco smell throughout the building. I thought it might be better to reconsider the ashtray management as well.

    Unfortunately

    The front desk and restaurant have been renovated, so I had high expectations for the rooms, but was disappointed as soon as I entered... I told myself it was understandable since the price was reasonable, but even just having one new chair among the furniture would make a big difference! The old chairs from the dining room are placed there, and I think it would be better if they weren't there at all. I believe a little ingenuity would make a big difference, but I told myself it was understandable considering the accommodation fee. I understand that it would cost a considerable amount to renovate everything, but if asked whether I would like to stay again... The food is quite good, I think. Thank you for your hospitality.

    Is it really an IKYU Hotel?

    Good points... The quality of the dinner was high. However, the desserts were all too sweet. The lobby was clean. Bad points... The Onsen bath was not circulated and was dirty. It's been a while since I've been to an Onsen with a mediocre bath. The lobby is clean, but the guest rooms are full of a Showa era feel and were a bit dirty. The amenities were lacking and mediocre. There weren't enough face towels. The line for rice balls at breakfast was too long and unpleasant. It was difficult to get other dishes in that line, and many guests were frustrated.

    I was looking forward to the churrasco for dinner, but...

    I found the dinner buffet to be a bit challenging. I was disappointed that I could only get two or three slices of churrasco, which I thought was the main attraction. Of course, you can get about two slices each time you visit the churrasco corner, but I wished they would come around to the tables and let us eat to our heart's content. It feels a bit awkward to keep going back to the corner multiple times. Other than that, I really enjoyed the breakfast buffet. The service was fairly standard. There were fewer foreigners on this day, which was nice, but there are usually many in Hakone.
